Psalm Chapter 39

Pray Today

Acts 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Fort Worth, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Psalm 39

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.

My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,

Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.

Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.

10 Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.

11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.

12 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

13 O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.

  1. Verse 7 AMP “And now, Lord, for what do I expectantly wait?
My hope [my confident expectation] is in You.” Like the song that we sing “My Life Is In You Lord”:

My life is in You, Lord, my strength is in You, Lord
My hope is in You, Lord, in You, it’s in You
My life is in You, Lord, my strength is in You, Lord
My hope is in You, Lord, in You, it’s in You

I will praise You with all of my life
I will praise You with all of my strength
With all of my life, With all of my strength
All of my hope is in You

1 Peter 1:3 CEV “Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on.” ReVIVE and ReMEMBER the ReAL ReASON for hope.

  2. 4“LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.

When we are young, we say “I have time” to save money, to finish a project, to get baptized, to forgive someone, etc. But as we age, we realize time goes by quickly. Live each as if it could be your last. Take action, be with family, and most of all, get salvation with God.

  3. 4. “LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered- how fleeting my life is.

    5. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude. NLT

When compared to eternity or even history, our lifetimes are so short! We are always one breath from eternity; we have to keep ourselves ready, we never know when this life could end and the next begin.

  4. gracias señor JESUS porque cuando uno lee tu palabra nos damos cuenta que no somos nada sin ti ,sin tu ayuda atraves de la biblia viviriamos una vida vana

  5. Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.

Often it can be natural to think of our future as what takes place in our earthly life. It is the wisdom from God that allows the natural man to see the future as what takes place after death.

  6. Psalms 39: 7 [ amp] And now, Lord, what do I wait for and expect? My hope and expectation are in You.

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord , Be brave and of good courage, and let your heart be stout and enduring.

By trusting in the God, there is the comfort of Lord.

For I will wait upon the Lord, my hope and trust comes from the Lord.

    Thank you Jesus.

  7. 4 Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.

If we let it, things will continue to beat us down even past the point where we can’t get back up. We know that the Lord is our only true strength and our only way to work through difficulties

  8. 7 ““And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”

It doesn’t matter how difficult things may be in our lives. Trust in the Lord and wait on His timing.

  9. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

Lord, that time will come, that I leave this world, no matter how painful my body might get my hope is in you.

“ I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me”

Woah! This scripture reveals to us that it takes a lot of work to keep our mouths shut. I guess if it was easy, everybody would be keeping their mouths shut. It takes focus, discipline, humility, and practice to be quite.

  11. “LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; That I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; And mine age is as nothing before thee: Verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. O spare me, that I may recover strength, Before I go hence, and be no more.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭39‬:‭4‬-‭5‬, ‭13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I have lived some of my years thinking that I knew it all. I lived life as foolish person saying I was invincible! At the age of 27 my eyes were open to truth. I realized who held my life in His hands. Knowing that GOD is the one who gives life and takes it away when He wanted.

I’m thankful for His mercy and love that reached out for a sinner like me.
My prayer is that all will answer to His call as He knocks on the door of their heart. In Jesus Name.

  12. Psalms 39:5 (AMP), “Behold, You have made my days as (short as) hand widths, and my lifetime is as nothing in Your sight. Surely every man at his best is a mere breath (a wisp of smoke, a vapor that vanishes)! Selah.”

Psalms 39:7 (AMP), “And now, Lord, for what do I expectantly wait? My hope (my confident expectation) is in You.”

Our life is short. At our best, we are but a mere breath. So what are we expectantly waiting for? why is our Hope in God? I believe we can find the answers in Romans 8:23-25 (AMP)…

    23) And not only this, but we too, who have the first fruits of the Spirit (a joyful indication of the blessings to come), even we groan inwardly, as We Wait Eagerly for (the sign of) our adoption as sons — the redemption and transformation of our body (at the resurrection).

    24) For in this Hope we were saved (by faith). But Hope (the object of) which is seen is not Hope. For who Hopes for what he already sees?

    25) But if we Hope for what we do not see, We Wait Eagerly for it with patience and composure.

So what are we Expectantly/Eagerly Waiting for? Why is our Hope in God? Our Hope is in God because we are Expectantly/Eagerly Waiting (with Patience) for the day When The Trumpet Sounds and In A Moment, In The Twinkling Of An Eye we will receive our inheritance, we will be given full rights as his adopted children, and our bodies shall be forever transformed into His Glorious Image!

WOW! What A Day That Shall Be!

  13. 1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

James 3:3-12 “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things”.  “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell”.

    HE HEARS MY PRAYER

As with the psalmist David, there will be times and even seasons that it appears that JESUS does not hear our PRAYER. We cry unto the LORD and wait for HIS answer, response, instructions. Adversaries use this season to discourage and weaken our FAITH in JESUS.

    BUT

7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

My HOPE is in JESUS and HE alone can deliver me. My life, future, present or past is nothing without JESUS. If JESUS doesnt answer there no one else to appeal to.

I am encouraged today and encourage you today. Continue to HOPE in JESUS. HE HEARS MY PRAYER.

  15. TLB – 39 I said to myself, I’m going to quit complaining! I’ll keep quiet, especially when the ungodly are around me. 2-3 But as I stood there silently the turmoil within me grew to the bursting point. The more I mused, the hotter the fires inside. Then at last I spoke and pled with God: Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more. 5-6 My life is no longer than my hand! My whole lifetime is but a moment to you. Proud man! Frail as breath! A shadow! And all his busy rushing ends in nothing. He heaps up riches for someone else to spend. And so, Lord, my only hope is in you.

Save me from being overpowered by my sins, for even fools will mock me then.

Lord, I am speechless before you. I will not open my mouth to speak one word of complaint, for my punishment is from you.

Our attitude is determine by our outlook on life. We are given to complaining and seeing the negative all the time, that is all we will see. However, if we can find a way to be thankful in every situation, regardless of what it is, it will change our outlook and allow us to find the good in it.

  16. Psalm 39:Putting Pain in Perspective

Silent out of fear of the wicked, David asks God to help him sense the impermanence of life. Now, admitting his pain is due to his sins and honoring God for His justice, David’s hope is restored and he prays to God for relief.

It is a meditation on the fragility of man before God, ending in a prayer for a peaceful life.

  17. “Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭39‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Our life is so short and we often waste it on meaningless things. Money is important, of course, because with it we can buy and pay for things we need to live. But, something very different is loving money and daily being in that constant search to have more and more. Our life is not very long as it says in this chapter, so why worry about spending our life in search of something that will not fill our spirit and will not take us to eternity. Better to invest our lives and wear ourselves out for the kingdom of God. In filling our spirit with the presence of God, maintaining us in the truth and salvation of him. Well, it is better to accumulate wealth in heaven than on this earth where everything is corrupted.

““Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT

  18. Psalm 39

1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

It is easy to lose our temper sometimes and speak with anger. We need to pray when we get angry and ask God to help us. We need to not say anything until we have talked to Jesus.

Thank you Jesus for this day.

  19. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

Anyone that has gone through a personal loss of a spouse knows what this verse means, for everything that your love one left behind is for someone else’s use. Years of gain has to be distributed, sold, thrown away, given away. They no longer need it; you can’t use it. Yes, we keep what we want for memories, but you can’t keep it all. This is an eye opener of just how important things are. It is best to clear out unnecessary object in your life, focus on the building of Christ and what is stored up in heaven, don’t leave the burden to your children to get rid of your collections of what-knots or storage shed of useless year of what-if someday, for someday may never come. Store up instead relationships, memories, integrity, leave your children the knowledge of salvation and the truth. Things don’t matter, but souls do.

  20. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

we have to be mindful to of what we say with our tongue because our tongue holds power, we have to be leaders at all times.

  21. 3My heart grew hot within me;

as I mused, the fire burned.

Then I spoke with my tongue

What a merciful God you are.

thank you lord for this day.
    thank you for your word

thank you for talking to me.

    I opened my mouth

I spoke to you, and you heard mr

you heard everything I had to say, you did not shut me down

but heard me and game me understanding…..

Bless be the name of the lord!!!!

  22. 12 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

In times of distress, we may feel like strangers before God. Though we have not seen Him, our belief moves our celestial Father to aid us in our time of need.
