Proverbs Chapter 29

Proverbs 29

1He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

4The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

8Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

9If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

10The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

11A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

12If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

13The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

14The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

15The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

16When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

19A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

20Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

22An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

23A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

25The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

26Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.

27An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

  1. 26Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.

Better make sure you seek the favor of the judge!

  2. v25 “The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.” MSG ” The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that” Putting our trust in the creation rather than the Creator will keep us from victory in our lives.

  3. There 2 very powerful principals in verse 18.

    1. Where there is no vision, the people perish:
The NLT says; When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. The word vision is chazown and means – a sight, dream, revelation or oracle. An oracle is an utterance, and is also referred to as the Scriptures. The principal is this; if there is not a continual flow of the promises of GOD spoken into our lives we perish. Thank GOD for men who speak truth.

    2. but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. The NLT says: But whoever obeys the law is joyful. So many look for joy and happiness in relationships, money, jobs, drugs, sex, alcohol, parties and various other forms of entertainment. The bible says that true joy and happiness are found in keeping and obeying the LAW of GOD. What he says is wrong is wrong. To BE Church we will need to be visionaries who are obedient to HIS word.

  4. I like V18 says “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” I’m glad Pastor Watts has a vision, a vision of CHURCH growth, and continues to reach out. One day, we’ll have a new building. By our faith and committment to God, he’ll provide it for us!

  5. Vs. 18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish….”
What is a vision? It is the ability to perceive something not actually visible, as through mental acuteness or keen forsight.
I’m thankful for a pastor who always encourages us to have a vision for the things of God. I’m thankful to be in a church that has a vision for winning souls. The vision of POFW is to Impact Fort Worth. So, let’s BE CHURCH, and Impact our city with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  6. Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

Who is your harlot today, where are you spending your substance? Is it in hobbies, gambleling, addictions, extravangances that are not needed? How many blessings could of been fulfill with that money? What blessings didnt you get because of spending it on harlots ways?
Simple exercise, keep a journal of all your spending at the end of the month see what % was offerings, then what % was unecessary, let God speak to your heart of what to do. When I did it I decided to tieth on that expense that wasnt necessary. The decision finally its yours.

  7. This chapter speaks to me about the importance of correction, not only in the lives of our children, but also in our lives. We must love the correction that is given to us by the word of God. Not allowing pride or bitterness enter our hearts when correction from His word is revealed in our spirits, will allow us to grow and become more like Him.

  8. vs “9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.”…If we are to be wise and not fools, we must consider not only every word we speak, but what the other person is going to hear. We maybe trying to joke with someone, but if they don’t take it that way… it may not end well for everyone involved.

  9. On verse 26. .
To me it means that we shouldn’t care what people think of us cause the only judgement that should mean somethings is gods judgement cause should live to please god and not man

  10. 4The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

It is by faithful judgment that things are put into order, idea, kingdoms, colonies, ways of life, etc. These cannot be established out of chaos. However once it has been established it just take one person who succumbs to bribery to bring it down or overtake it.

15The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Gods Word teaches us to raise our children with discipline, without it how can they learn? If we leave them on their own to learn, it will most definitely bring shame to us as parents… The Bible teaches us that in our own eyes our way is right, and our nature is sin.

  11. vs16:when the wicked are multiplied, transgression increseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
the vs1 say he that being often reproved hardenetth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Oh! God have mercy on us and those who are not believe on You Jesus! Amen.

  12. Vs 2 – My prayer is to see the righteous rule again in this nation. When we humble ourselves and pray…

This 7 day fast will be humbling ourselves before God, coupled with prayer. We must not do our own thing during this 1 week as we fast!

I can’t wait to see yokes broken, captives delivered, sons & daughters brought home & lives changed!

Vs 18- We have had the vision cast before us tonight…let it bring us new life, annointing, health & abundance in Jesus’ name. Amen

  13. Proverbs 29:7,8 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
I can see pretty clear 2 cracteristics of the righteous:Be merciful and be a pacifier. Jesus told us this in Matthew 5.

  14. v18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Having a vision is important. If successful business men and women didn’t have a vision first their business would have never taken off the ground. We must have a vision to win souls. Without a vision there’s nothing to shoot for. With a vision we are able to do great things

  15. Verse 25 (Message Version) says…The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that. The CEV says…Don’t fall into the trap of being a coward–trust the LORD, and you will be safe. We can’t be worried about what people will think, only God’s opinion matters.

  16. 12If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Though Im not a ruler, but as one who endeavors to be a leader this tells me that if Im not living a life close to God full of his Spirit, and sensitive to deciet and lies around me, than I will end up not only being decieved or believing a lie, but I will make those who I am leading to be wicked.

My actions, or inaction can bring down the whole lot if Im not careful. The reverse of this is that if we choose to not listen to lies then those we are leading will be righteous.

  17. Wise men seek to please God because His judgment is what counts. It is foolish to constantly look for a pat on the back, or what some would call “words of affirmation”. What I seek is divine confirmation from the Holy Ghost confirming that I’m in right standing with HIM. How? Evidence… aka Fruit, Results. What we sometimes fail to realize is that if we will someday face judgment then every word we speak and deed we do is EVIDENCE in our case. What will your evidence provide… Righteousness or Foolishness.

    BE CHURCH!

    Post Script,
Pastor’s lesson tonight was some of the best teaching on Fasting that I’ve ever heard. We’re so blessed!

  18. Where there is no vision the people perish..
First things first, we need to get in line and follow the vision of our pastor. How can you be apart of the body if you’re not willing to be what is needed? Whether it be a finger, toe, foot, hand etc.you are needed! Second, what is your vision for your own life? Are you truly pressing towards making it a reality or just talking about it? There must be action!

  19. V27 “An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.” I’ve learned from experience how it just rubs some people the wrong way when they see you trying to do what pleases God. Matt 10:22, 24-25 seems to outline it quite clearly, how men will hate us yet we cannot expect less since they felt the same towards Jesus and the servant is not above the master.

Even so, it also says there that it is enough that the servant be as his lord. When Jesus drove the merchants and moneychangers out of the temple, the disciples saw Jesus fulfilling Psa 69:9 “For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” I believe we should strive for the same, to be as our Master in zeal regardless of the reproaches to come upon us.

The Message version of Psa 69:9 says it well: “I love you more than I can say. Because I’m madly in love with you, they blame me for everything they dislike about you.” Really it’s a sort of compliment to be hated by men for righteousness sake; they’re saying “you’re so much like Jesus that I hate you!”

  20. Vs. 11 instead of us giving people a piece of our mind we should show restraint and self control with our tongue and use wisdom.

  21. We have seen examples of Verse one (1) on many occasions in the Bible, may we never forget we are all but dust that God breathed the breath of life into. Pastor is trying to lead us to reach the souls of Fort Worth, which Verse 8 instructs. If we pray for others we will also reap the rewards, (we thank God for each of you and pray you will all be Blessed). Why do we turn away from Verse 15 and 17 has not a mothers correction (LOVE) resulted in a positive way, if we do not correct our children than we place the burden on society. Verse 26 is just as true today as it was in years past, if we are more concerned with pleasing man than God than we ourselves are guilty. May the good Lord help us all to seek after his truth, his wisdom, his correction before we face his judgment. May the Lord Bless you all

  22. V. 2 When the Righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn. To see where we are now as a people saddens me. I believe it is our time to rise up and be “CHURCH” to a our community, our city, our Nation. It begins with me..there is only one way to live and that is through obedience to the WORD of Christ. God forgive us (Nation) of all our sins. God let their be a spirit of righteousness fall on this nation.

  23. Just because we are adults doesnt mean we dont need correction help us to not be foolish by putting other things before God & to have a true vision like our pastor so that we would please God & work together to see our church grow to honor God
