Comment of the day from 1/21/11

There is no room for sin! We are to remove the spoiled from the new or the new will become spoiled. We are the body of Christ. Our brothers and sisters actions effect our own actions. Remove yourself from someone ( a brother) who is in sin or you could find yourself under their influence. This sounds so harsh. I have to excommunicate my brother? NO! We must stand in the gap for our brother and follow the Lords example. The Lord loves us but not our sins. He loves the sinner but hates the sin. We must follow his example, I can love you but not be apart of you and your actions. They took the woman who was caught in adultry to be accused and judged by Jesus. Using no words, he convicted the brethren by his writing in the sand. I like to imagine he was listing all the sins of the accusers. They had puffed themselves up to thinking they were above sin. Who knows what he wrote but he showed mercy to the woman and forgave her. God is love. Love from a distance, a self-preservation…perhaps, but I am responsible for my soul. I will be selfish with my salvation! I have to protect it from my own sinnful nature and my brothers. Be Church! Show the love of Christ. Stand in the gap for a brother or sister today!

Day 22 Prayer Focus

1 Corinthians 6

1Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

2Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

4If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

5I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

6But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

7Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

8Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

14And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

  1. v16, 17 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

    17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

    The question is, who are you joined up with? Sin loves the company of sin. Everytime we do those things that don’t please God, the Holy Ghost is not doing it with you. The Holy Ghost will not and cannot partake in the things of the world.

    When you’re walking hand in hand with God the word says you are one spirit. In contest we try to team up with some of the best contestants. If you know that someone is not very good and what you are trying to accomplish, you probably won’t choose them for your team. The spiritual realm is not any different. If you want to win, you have to be joined up with winners. What better way to achieve those things that are holy then to join up with God. The more we do those things that please the father, the closer we will get to him.

  2. Vs. 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit ,which are God’s

    Lord thank you for the Holy Ghost. That we may worship God through a life completely dedicated to His service.
    Rom.12:1. To present your bodies A living sacrifice , holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service.

    this song makes me thing of the 80’s gospel song, “I Choose to be a Chritian” There are so many, people who think because we live a Holy lifestyle there are things we can’t do, but that is not true. As Paul says, “all things are lawful to me”, or “I can do whatever I choose to do” but as I serve God and try to reach a deeper commitment with him, there are things I have choosen not to do. We shouldn’t tell people I can’t go to clubs, or I can’t do drink because of my beliefs, instead be proud to tell them, I choose not to.

    20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    Have you ever heard a rebellious teenager tell their parents, “I can’t wait to do my own thing!” Maybe you remember saying those words at some point in time. I know I did. Then I read this scripture and now I have to laugh! We are not our own and never will be! Just as we were accountable to our parents we are accountable God, Abba Father. The Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End! We were bought with his blood. What a price and yet when we entertain sin we are telling him,” I can do my own thing! I don’t need you or want you! ” No wonder rebellion is a the sin of witchcraft it goes against every order of God. Our father, like any good parent, only wants the best for us! I am so glad that I belong to him. I don’t want to be on my own without you Jesus. Be Church!

The theme of this chapter seems to be “walk spiritually, not carnally; follow God’s way, not the way of the flesh.” We begin with strong warning against going “to law before the unjust, and not before the saints” in a matter between saints. It goes back to John 3:3 (AMP): “Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.” How could someone who does not know/is not acquainted with/hasn’t experienced the kingdom of God possibly be equipped to rightly judge matters concerning the kingdom?

    From there, Paul goes right into speaking of those who will not inherit the kingdom of God and how these are people who have given themselves over to the passions, lusts, appetites of the flesh to become slaves to those things. He targets specifically fornication in speaking about how people abuse natural desires, given by God in creation for good, and twist them into actions that are sinful counterfeits of what God intended. The insight he writes about concerning this particular sin has vast implications concerning our relationship with God and how much damage is caused when fornication is committed (especially concerning saints.) It boils down to this, our body is for the Lord (v13, 20) as well as our spirit (v17, 20; 2 Pet 3:9; Eph 5:30-32) and we should not follow after carnality to pollute them but glorify God in both by following Him in holiness, as we are not our own but His:

    V19-20 “19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

    Eph 5:22, 25-27, 30-32 “22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

    25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

    27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

    30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

    31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

    32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

    Thank you Jesus for paying for me.

    I’ve been thinking lately ,why did Jesus choose me for this time?Why did He pick me, isn’t there someone better than me who can do this better.Reading this is confirmation that He paid a price for me.

  7. I am so happy that our Lord took the time to give us guidance to every problem we might encounter even if this problem happens to be with a brother & business transactions. He thought of everything, but as always is up to us to follow that guidance.

    18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
    19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
    20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    We are His body and as so He abides in us by the Holy Ghost, therefore, how could we take His Salvation and His shedding of blood for granted, and abuse our bodies with addictions and immorality? Everytime we want to do something to ourselves we should be picturing doing it unto God, so would we destroy our Lord again or would we Magnify, Glorify, Honor our Lord and Savior.

  8. vs 19-20 Its clear to me after reading vs 18 how terrible the sin of fornication is of sinneth against his own body. It is degecrating GODS temple. Members dont have the right to use our bodies to our own pleasure. Both body and sprit belongs to GOD both should should be used to glorify him. We are obligated to consecrate the body and sprit to his service.

  9. This chapter instructs us to face our Brother/Sister and resolve our differences with them or seek counsel from the Pastor or appropriate leadership. We should simply attempt to resolve the issue/matter with that person and if we cannot than we should seek Godly counsel, vice worldly counsel or just give it to God. This chapter also describes what actions will not be allowed in Heaven, more commonly referred to as sin. If we have been Baptized and received the Holy Ghost than we were purchased with the Blood of Christ. As such we are not or own (no longer bound by sin) we are God’s body/temple (free from sin), and as such we are to Be Church

  10. Again we find in letters to the church we find reference here in Corinth to the Born Again experience Jesus command in John 3:5.

    Paul clearly identifies the transgression by name in the NLT 9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

    My prayer is that the church would be liberated to PREACH the Word of GOD! Warning against the coming judgement towards the participation in sin as well as showing the way out of sin through the Love of Jesus Christ in the New Birth experience.

  11. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

    Whatever we join ourselves to is what we are married to. Whether fame, fortune, popularity, sports, money, clothing, lifestyles, whatever it is we become married to it.
    The old saying is you are what you eat. Birds of a feather flock together. Your like two peas in a pod.
    The truth is that we cannot trick God, ourselves, or those around us. We become like who or what we associate with.
    Jesus said to the Pharisees, You are of your father the devil, because you do the works that he did.
    Simply put, who you obey is your master. Obey the flesh and not God and that becomes your master.
    We spiritually commit adultery when we worship anything other than God. Just like it is in the physical, it is in the spiritual: “who you marry determines where you will spend your eternity.
    Be Church
    Be faithful to God

  12. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
    20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
    With His death Jesus Christ paid the price to redeem us from our slavery to sin.
    Ephesians 1:7 (King James Version)
    7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    1 Peter 1:18-19, 18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
    We need to be careful how we treat and what we do with what is His.

  13. It is better to take matters to your brother or sister in Christ than to take matters to the courts. As christians we should be able to resolve our differances.

  14. 12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    What Paul is saying is that He legally okay to do some things but just because something is legal doesn’t mean it is right. Remember, Paul is letting us know that if we are or do any of the things in verse 9 or 10 we will not inherit the Kingdom!

    Let’s BE CHURCH and inherit the kingdom.

    The word expedient means this; suitable for for achieving a particular end in a given circumstance.

    Our circumstance is this; Planet Earth is just our temporary home and all the things on it are temporal. Our sights are on Jesus Christ and that great city called Heaven. All things may be legal and okay here on earth but they are not expedient for us; some things aren’t going to help us achieve the right end… Heaven.

    20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
    We are the people of God created in His image. He desires for us to keep His temple pure and holy so that he may dwell and reign in us. When we receive His spirit inside of us we are then allowing Him to become Lord of our lives. We are committing to keep our temple clean so that He can work in and through us.

  16. This chapter clearly shows that God desires us to be set apart from this world. He wants us to flee fornication and commit our bodies unto him so that he can use us.

  17. Verse 12 (Message Version) says….Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims. The end of Verse 20 says…So let people see God in and through your body.

  18. NIV 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?”

    This tells me, not to dispute with fellow believers, but agree in all things. We all are part of the Body of Christ, it takes us all to do our part, and to function as one. We need to rely on God for direction and guidance when disagreements come upon us.

  19. vs ” 8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.”… continaully the church is bombarded by the enemy trying to cause division. “Divide and conquer” is easy when two people who are suppose to be lifting eachother up are tearing each other down. n the church we have to be vigilant and not defraud our brother or sister when they mess up, or when we get jealous. If we forget to “Rejoice with them that rejoice” we just might miss out on our blessing…
