Day 28 Prayer Focus and 1 Corinthians Chapter 12

Comment of the day from 1/27/11

In this scripture, it clearly indicates the proper order intended by God, in a marriage, and in our relationships with him or with our spouse. In this; it doesn’t give the Husband, the right to rule with an iron hand, but to be strong, and lead your familly. Wife’s remember that your husband will have to answer for things, that you won’t have too.

3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

Remember wife’s, the power you have has it’s responsibilities too. This could be a good sermon for the Pastor to discuss, in greater detail. “God Bless”…….>>>BE CHURCH<<<

Day 28 Prayer Focus

Many Christians suffer for their faith. Pray for those who are tortured, persecuted, martyred, homeless, jobless, discriminated against, ostracized by family and community, or evil spoken of simply because they believe in Jesus.

1 Corinthians 12

1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

2Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14For the body is not one member, but many.

15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.

25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

31But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

  1. God has placed each of us into the body of Christ. We are not all the same but we all play different yet all equally important roles in what He desires to do.

  2. I had the pleasure of sitting with a guest the other day and this person told me that he was floored by the diversity in the POFW. Vs. “14 For the body is not one member, but many.”;”24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
We are all needed and all necessary parts of the body, and the body of Christ doesn’t know segeration. Nobody should be of the mind set that their part is not so big that they won’t be missed, because they will. How many havebroken a fingernail or hit it with a hammer? The whole body felt it. Just as Paul said, if one suffer the whole body suffers. Though the fingernail is such a small part of the body, it hurts when it gets attacked, just as when we are attacked spiritually the rest of the body hurts too. Every body part, or role in the church is very important, and has been created for a purpose.

vs “29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts:”…We cannot all be apostles, prophets, or teachers, but we can posess the Holy Ghost and let Him work through us to help others. In vs 31 Paul is telling us to hold tight and treasure what these men of God are teaching us.

  3. The Bible tells us in this chapter that everyone is in important in his kindom. Everyone’s job is important whether it be behind the scenes or for all to see.

  4. In His wisdom God has placed unique gifts in the church body. To focus on an individuals gift whether it be to covet, complain or to take pride in defies there God given purpose. When we operate in unity, supporting one another in love then Our Lord is glorified.

  5. 1Cor.12. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. From our heavenly Father.Every thing belongs to Him. To God BE ALL THE GLORY.
Paul tells us that it’s good to desire spiritual gifts and the greatest is love. For the edifying
    of the chiurch.
With these spiritual gifts come responsibilities. We will give an account to God for the gifts He has given us.
I thank God for The Pentecostals Of Fort Worth
For the love they have for God and for each other.
Our Heavenly Father deserves our very best and with His help some day we will hear Our Father say,”well done, thou good and faithful servant”

  6. Paul shows the importance of unity and how we depend on each other in the church. It doesnt matter if you are a foot or an eye, or what nationality you are, or what kind of gift of the sprit you may have. Noboby is better than another, and we are all one and apart of God’s boby.

  7. This is the chapter of ONE. One Spirit, one body of Christ. We operate by the Spirit of God for the body of God ( the church) to grow. All for the purpose of reaching more souls. The bible says that Hell hath enlarged itself. However, we have be equipped with all the tools (gifts) necessary to reach the lost. Be all to all, show yourself friendly, walk in wisdom…we are ready we just have to be doers of the word and not listeners only. Be Church!

  8. What would happen if we all worked together? We are of the same body and when one is hurting we should help them that are in need.

  9. Spiritual Gifts Breakdown:
God gives certain gifts to whom he pleases, or sees fit/ready.
    *message of wisdom
    *message of knowledge
    *faith
    *healing
    *miraculous powers
    *prophecy
    *distinguishing between spirits
*speaking in different kinds of tounges
    *interpretation of tounges
***All these are the work of one and the same spirit***

    Body of Christ (church):
God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. There are many parts and one body. I like to think of it as anatomy and physiology (parts and functions) of the human body which of course He designed.
in this body you may find:
apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, those able to help others, gifts of administration, those speaking in different tounges.

  10. The veggie tales sing a song in which a stanza says “If my lips said Adios, I don’t like you I think your gross, I’d be so sad”
Each person in the church is a part of the body and though some people learn to function without certain parts of there body, they are forever handicapped. When we loose people in the church, we to feel the loss of that part. Let’s pull the body of christ together and not be a handicapped church.

  11. The diversity of God’s body is clearly seen in the diversity of each part of the body and how it all functions as one. God has given each of us talents and abilities. All are different. Even those people that have the same giftings, differ in how they facilitate that gift. All are important in the Kingdom of God and it takes all of them to grow the Kingdom and reach the lost of this world. Likewise every individual is important and the giftings that God has given them are important to God and the kingdom. Lord help me to never minimize someone’s gifting abiltiies because they may not be as strong as another persons. God can use everyone and it is His desire to do so.

  12. V18 “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”

It is amazing to me to see how God has a specific role and place for each person in His body. It reminds me of a group going out to eat at a restaurant. When someone arrives unexpectedly, it can be a bit of a shuffle to make room, get the waiter or waitress over to get their drink order, get them a menu and silverware, etc. But when someone expected arrives, there is (ideally at least!) a place already set aside for them, the waiter or waitress is on the look-out for their arrival, and a menu and silverware is already set at their spot.

The latter example illustrates how it is in the body of Christ. Nobody is unexpected when they arrive; Jesus already has a place prepared for them, with provision, giftings, anointings, callings, etc. just waiting for that person when the time comes as they take their place and begin to grow in it. It makes such a difference, being where God wants you to be vs where He doesn’t want you to be.

I like how Bro Galvan said it a few days ago “The people in “our world,” are already part of the body at POFW… they just don’t know it yet.” We must have this view when we see lost souls. We are sent into the harvest to bring these people to the place already prepared for them. John the Baptist went before Jesus, crying “prepare ye the way!” and Jesus has gone ahead of us to prepare a place for us; we see a pattern of preparation in the Word. We must go out to show this world the way to the place prepared for them and how they must make preparation for Him in their lives (and we must be prepared to receive them when they do come in!)

  13. It’s great being part of the Body of Christ. Each one of us has a responsbility within the church. When we give up, lose interest, or lack faith we all suffer in some way. That’s why we need each other to support one another, so the church can continue to grow stronger spiritually.

  14. This passage speaks a lot about being in unity (one body) while being used differently (members of the body). Everyone who comes to Christ does not have the same background, personality, talents, etc as everyone else, and though we are all different with different strengths and weaknesses none of us are above or below another. We are all united in spirit by Christ and used according to His purpose.

  15. Verses 25-26 (Message) say….The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, the parts we see and the parts we don’t. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.

Verse 27 says…You are Christ’s body—that’s who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your “part” mean anything.

  16. If I could title this Chapter it would read.

    The Diversity of Unity

Unity is not specifically a carbon copy, but more of a continuation of the original. Jesus is the original! We are called and challenged to imitate HIM!

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

The ONE Spirit is the HOLY Spirit.

    BE Church
    BE Filled with HIS Spirit

  17. 14For the body is not one member, but many.

Every time I read this I think of Pastor talking about how you need your toenail and if you don’t go without it see how it feels… or I’m glad my arm didn’t take a day off today; I needed it. It’s comical to us but it is so true. I think that this passage of scripture describes how the POFW operates and I believe that God is pleased with our structure and how we operate in our different roles and responsibilities yet we all work for one common purpose and have the spirit of unity because we are all one body.

    Bro. Castillo,
I loved the veggie tale reference.

  18. This chapter does identify and explain the different gifts of the Spirit. More importantly this chapter explains what has been preached by Pastor for months, it takes EVERYONE to do their part. We should all be in unison/one body, if we want to really Be Church. We cannot fight against our body; eye, toe, ear, etc. and expect to reach lost Souls. Jesus planned for everyone to do their part, play their role, carry their load; EVERYONE is needed to make a healthy and functional Body for Christ. We must pray for one another, help one another and simply just be there for one another if we want to truly BE Church. May Jesus Bless you all

  19. 28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

If we want to see the moving of God and the manifestation of the spirit we must keep things in their proper order.

  20. Paul is showing us that we are all apart of the body of Christ and that we all have a intricate part of that body. We should work hard to do all that we can in the place that God has put us.

  21. 26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

To really be church is to practice this verse

  22. We must work as one in the body of Christ. There’s no time for division. When there’s pain in the body, the whole body will focus on that part to tend to it. Let’s be one, so that we can Be Church!!!

  23. The church is a whole body and no task or job is belittled for as simple as the task may be your are doing it for the kingdom of the lord. When the body works together it is simpler to get things accomplished.
