Ephesians Chapter 1

Ephesians 1

1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

2Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

10That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

  1. It is incredibly amazing how frequent the affirmation of the plan of salvation is intwined throughout the epistles (letters to the church).

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Paul affirms the church at Ephesus with the words of encouragement regarding their Holy Spirit infilling and how it is for us as a seal (a mark of identification and protection). I want to be FILLED with the seal.

    BE Church
BE FILLED with the Holy Ghost

  2. 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Wisdom, revelation, and enlightenment… We are ever learning with Christ. As his children we have hope, inheritence and the exceeding greatness of his power is as close as a prayer. Chosen, called, bought and adopted by a King, no, the King of Kings. Be Church!

  3. 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Wow it is amazing to know that we were “predestinated” to be adopted by the King of kings and Lord or lords. And before the world was made we were already chosen…. Really adds to 1 Peter 2:9-10 9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 10Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

We are children of the King. Lets Be Church!

  4. What a great chapter to read after yesterday’s message from our Pastor Watts and Bro. Crockets Prophetic words of multiple births. As I read verses 15 – 23, I can help but to think if each one of us were to pray that way for our babies and encourage them in their walk following that awesome example we will be having church in our new building or at a conference center before we can blink. Our growth will be explosive. So lets pray, encourage, and guide our babies through their walk as Jesus Christ Himself do for us everyday.

  5. 11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

  6. 15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:…Faith and love are two very important Fruit that we as christians are to display, and if we are truely following Christ we will display. Wisdom/Knowledge are also two very important fruit we should treasure as well. The word tells us to be wise as serpants but harmless as doves. We should be ready and willing to not only learn but also teach the word and to teach others about the life lessons that the word teaches us.

  7. Verses 3-6 in the Message Version say:

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

How awesome to know that we are the focus of God’s love!

  8. VS-17

THE FATHER OF GLORY. The source of all spiritual glory. GIVE UNTO YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM. Divine wisdom works wisdom in believers. And revelation. The spirit that reveals a knowledge of GOD and spiritual mysteries. This spirit would enable them to better understand the mystery of GOD the divine and a better knowledge of him

  9. This chapter reminds me of the goodness of Jesus. What he has to offer us. All we have to do is believe, and then we are promised his Holy Spirit, how simple. God has is master plan layed out for us to enter his Kingdom, it us up to each one of us, to follow those simple steps.

  10. Paul says in verse 15-19 ….I asked God to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! That

That is my desire to see clearly, and know fully what He desires me to do on a daily basis!

  11. What great confidence we can have once we realize what this chapter is saying to us. We are his, bought with a price, and sealed for redemption. God isn’t waiting for us to mess up so he can blow the trumpet and we barely miss it, but rather he is saying to us that we have been on his mind even in eternity and he has been planning our salvation for eaons.
    Be Church
    Be confident
    Know who you are.

  12. 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Revelation and understanding of what we are called to do and be in Christ, along with revelation of who Christ is.

13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

  13. 11-12 It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
-Even though we may not know who we are or what our purpose for living is, God knows. He’s had his eyes on us for His plans, we just need to be sure and keep our eyes on Him to follow through with those plans.

  14. Eph.1:2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God
our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wow!!! Talk about revelation of His Love for us.
God is known to us as our Father.
In his great love and mercy He chose us to be His very own .
I just want to thank and praise Him for His grace, blood, forgiveness, truth, spiritual blessings, love, and His Holy Spirit.
Lord help me be your disciple and spread your good news.

  15. my wife and I read this blog and scriptures together on my lunch break over the phone.

This scripture is an awesome scripture to quote right before you give a bible study!

  16. 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Predestination is a hot topic among many theological debates…

    I believe in PREDESTINATION!!!

Yes, we have the power of choice; free will! Regardless of our choices in this life our destination has always been, in the eyes of God, to be reconciled to him and to one day reign with him.

No human on the planet should make hell their destination; it wasn’t created for them.

Now, whether or not we choose to jump off the train or not is our decision but the train is still moving…

Almost there, not much time left…

    Stay on the train!

SINGING JOYFULLY: “this train is a clean train, this train…”

  17. In this scripture, God once again shows us his greatness, and his love for us. We need this today more than ever, the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Especially today with all that is going on, but as always God supplies all of our needs to his riches and glory, in Christ Jesus, Amen.

22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

I, pray he would enlightened us daily, to what his will is, or our particular calling may be, reminding us of the inheritance, as his saints.

Always remembering, that all things are under his feet. So, if your having trouble, ask the Lord of Glory, to help you and put under his feet. Watch and pray, and observe, in faith, in Jesus Holy name, Amen. (P.U.S.H.)

    Pray…Unit…Something…Happens…

  19. So thankful for God’s truth that He has allowed to share with each and everyone of us! Excited to be apart of the body of Christ that is living and breathing the word of God everyday! 😀

  20. When searching through scripture you can often find prayers that can help guide your prayer life to a more effective level. Verses 5-19 is a great example of this.

5Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

    16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

  21. This chapter is simply inspiring, do we really grasp what God has done for us. The Lord of Lords reached down to us and gave us His Holy Spirit, to all that repent and receive it (Holy Ghost). This is essentially in today’s terms a deed to eternity with the King of Kings, praise be to Jesus!

  22. 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Wow, isn’t it awesome that all the while (old testament) he knew that he would have sent his only son for remission of sins, die with him, so that we could have everlasting life with him. Can you say REAL LOVE!

  23. we shouldnt be ashamed of Him.
He is holding a promise for those who have heard and who are telling others about the trueth.
We have an Inheritance in the Lord!
