Colossians Chapter 2

Colossians 2

1For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

  1. 8 Be sure that no one leads you away with false and empty teaching that is only human, which comes from the ruling spirits of this world, and not from Christ. 9 All of God lives fully in Christ (even when Christ was on earth), 10 and you have a full and true life in Christ, who is ruler over all rulers and powers. NCV
    Very clear on the fullness of the Godhead.

  2. Verses 6-7 Message Version say…..

    My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.

    “Now live him”…..everything…..what you say, where you go, what you do, what you stand for, what we teach……needs to say “JESUS”!

  3. 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

    7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

    I love the fact that it says walk ye IN Him: not with Him, not follow Him, but walk IN Him. As we receive the Holy Ghost, Christ is IN us and we IN Him. Making the verse, I John 4:4 “… greater is He that is in you that he that is in the world”, a brand new meaning. Everything we do, we shall do it knowing that we are IN Him and He is IN us. Therefore there is no fear IN Him, so there is no fear in us.

    • In “The 7 human emotions”, states “Fear is one of the most adaptable human emotion, and can also have the longest lasting effects. It affect people physically and mentally, and can result in trauma that can take years of therapy to correct.” Most of all emotions can be rooted or tracked back to Fear

  4. Col.2:7 NKJV. Established in the faith
    abounding in it.”

    Paul writes” As you therefore have received
    Christ Jesus the Lord so walk in Him rooted
    and built up in Him and established in the
    faith as you have been taught in it

    That’s my prayer, Lord let us be rooted and
    grounded in Your Love, Knowledge and
    faith. Then we shall be like a tree planted by
    the rivers of water , that bringeth forth his
    fruit in his season” PS.1:3

  5. (NIRV) 1 I want you to know how hard I am working for you. I’m concerned for those who are in Laodicea. I’m also concerned for everyone who has not met me in person. 2 I want their hearts to be made cheerful and strong. I want them to be joined together in love. Then their understanding will be rich and complete. They will know the mystery of God. That mystery is Christ.–

    OUTREACH!!
    We go out telling people about God so that they can know that God loves them and that He died for them on the cross so that they would live to worship Him and please Him

  6. 6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

    7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

    8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

    9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

    I love these few verses in our chapter today. We are not to live for Christ half-heartedly but we are to be rooted, like a strong tree, steadfast and established. For me, to be rooted and established is in knowing what you believe. Know that there is nothing to hard for God! Firmly, know that salvation only comes through the evidence of speaking in tounges. Understand fully that baptism was for the burial and washing away of our sins. Have no doubt that the Word of God is truth! Be rooted! Be established! Be Church!

  7. vs ” 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” We must stick to the truth. Thank You Jesus for a pastor who teaches truth.

    vs ” 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.”…”will worship” If we worship in the way we submit our will to the will of God, people will flock in wanting to be a part of what God is doing.

  8. 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

    This is why we need to be rooted in the Word of God. If we are not then someone will come up to you and say that what you believe is wrong, and if we are not rooted in, then we might be lost.I pray that “tradition” and “new age religion” will not find us to be weak, but strong in what we believe in. One thing that has stuck with me is that my dad told me to be strong and know who and what I believe in. You know what , he was right. If we waver in todays world what will happen the next day or the next. Its time to rise up for what we believe in and that is Jesus. When it comes to judgement day I want God to say “Come in, you have been faithful.”

  9. Here is the reason I am so very thankful for a Pastor to watch over me and protect me to not be beguiled or deceived.

    4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

    We must live our lives by the word of God and not the only the words of man.

    BE Church

  10. We cannot be deceived, we must hold on to God and know the truth. Only by knowing the truth can we truly be free.

  11. This chapter instructs us to press forward. Before God’s Holy Spirit and Baptism we were lost. We need to seek out what is true, what is Holy, which the Bible is our instruction book/guide to glory. We must be careful we follow God’s path and not tradition’s, rituals, etc. May the Lord Bless you all

  12. 14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.

    Never Forget!
    He did all for you and me.
    I’m so thankful.

  13. 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

    To put down our house on the foundation of Jesus Christ, with faith, Prayer, Reading, and Thankfulness!

  14. This chapter shows we need to stay strong in Gods word and not fall into temtation of the world. So stay focused on him and his word, reach out to people, but enfluence them not the other way around. And keep in pray
    We need to Be Church!!

  15. 23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

    There’s alot of fake in this world giving a false appearance of good and our flesh falls for it and believes it. But we need to be one with God so we realize they are fake and don’t satisfy us but only trick our minds to think so.
