2 Thessalonians 3

2 Thessalonians 3

1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

8Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

9Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

12Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

13But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

16Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

17The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.

18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

  1. v15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
speaking the truth in love and setting example for Godly living – this is what the Lord wants from His people, so that those who are weaker may benefit from it and come into right relationship with Him.

  2. My prayer today is that we receive revelation of the people and things that are dams in our lives. Paul is very clear to the church here about rebellious people and how we should approach them:

6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

Some people say oh thats only tradition “man made rules”, and some spiritual guidance may be under the direction of a tradition of safety. However Paul said for us to withdraw ourselves from them, the NIV says:

6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching[a] you received from us.

If we see people turning away from Apostolic teaching; New Birth experience, water baptism in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance, and living a Holy “separated lifestyle” unto GOD. If we see this trait in people we are “commanded” to keep away from them. These are “Not” my words I repeat and quote the bible. In fact Paul goes on to say in verse:

14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

We are not given a license to be mean, unkind or hateful to them; we just need to busy about our fathers business.

    BE Church
    BE Obedient

  3. Lord I pray that your message continue to spread rapidly and be honored by all who hear it! Verses 10-13 in the Message Version say…

“Don’t you remember the rule we had when we lived with you? “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.” And now we’re getting reports that a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings are taking advantage of you. This must not be tolerated. We command them to get to work immediately—no excuses, no arguments—and earn their own keep. Friends, don’t slack off in doing your duty.” It is pretty clear, we cannot afford to slack off and get lazy!

  4. Amplified – 6Now we charge you, brethren, in the name and on the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) that you withdraw and keep away from every brother (fellow believer) who is slack in the performance of duty and is disorderly, living as a shirker and not walking in accord with the traditions and instructions that you have received from us.

They say birds of a feather flock together, Lord help me to stay connected with fellow belivers who are going to challenge me to continue working and serving in the Kingdom, and stay away from those who would pull me towards carnality and slacking in your Kingdom.

  5. v16 NIV “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. the Lord be with you all.” How can we not wonder what we would do if we faced the disaster that the people are Japan are now facing! Thousands of lives lost, economy shattered, homes gone and much more. It is such a stark reminder that there is nothing in this world that we can depend on to keep our hearts at peace. As the scritpure teaches ” if we have hope only in this life we are to be pitied..parapharse”. Thank you God for your peace that passes understanding. Let’s BE CHURCH and carry the peace of the Savior to those who are hurting and dying. The spriture today tells us that the Lord WILL BE WITH US.

  6. “6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.”…In the last chapter we were toldto be careful of deceptions that come our way. A easy way to fall prey to these decptions is to not saperate ourselves from what we know to be sin.

“14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.”…Twice in this chapter we’re told be saperate ourselves from sin, and those living in sin. We have to pay careful attention to what the word says about doctorine and about decption. The word tells us that the devil is the father of all lies, and that he came to kill, steal, and destroy. With that in mind, and with the warning about deceptions in the last chapter, we need to lift up, in prayer, those caught in deception, and remember that though the fruit of sin is death, it might not always happen as rapidly as we precieve that it might.

“13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.”… Multiple times the word tells us this. Wheater our fruit show rapidly or they never seem to appear (as we think they ought) Jesus is keeping up with us and our walk. He knows the true Christ like lifestyle is not the path of least resistance, and has promised us our reward should we not grow weary and quit….

BE CHURCH, BE SAPERATE, DON”T QUIT!

  7. CEV. v1 Finally, our friends, please pray for us,

    (1) The apostle Paul calls for intercessory prayer
1 Thess.5:25. Brethren, pray for us
Though our body sleepth, our hearts must
    continually be awake before God.
    Song of Soloman 5:2

(2). Pray for the message that the word of the
Lord may speed on and triumph .

    (3) Pray for deliverance from wicked and evil
men. Those ” who have not believed truth.”

WOW!!! What an awesome word of the Lord
last nite . God revealed His WILL and PROMISES for the POFW.

  8. (v2)And that may be deliverd from unreasonable and wicked men…..this letter warns us that we are going to have wicked men around us;th

ey are going to show up all the time in our walk with God.(v3)But the Lord, who shall stablish you and keep you from evil.what a confort God is faithful,it doent matter the circumstances around us,we have a good God,a faithful God,we have a “Abba Father…..”(v5)And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God,and into the patient waiting for Crist….and this we can only get it by(prayer time)from (v6_v18)talks about:working, obedient, being fruitful,discipline……..Lord in Jesus name i ask you to help me,guide me in your truth and teach me,for a want to be a busy christian, and this letter from Paul just reminded me,what i was thinking about this morning….._I want to be church,I need decipline……….

  9. 11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

Don’t be one of these people.

  10. 10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

I wonder if this was true today what will happened to all this young people that expect everything to fall in their lap, that walk around with the attitude of deserving everything, like we owe it to them. As far as I am concern if you have an able, strong, capable, young body, you should live by this law.

  11. wow, this chapter is intense! dont even know where to start. If we were to practice this chapter would we be considered “Christian” by the world?

14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed….

…”talk to the hand Homey till you repent…”

  12. Paul said that he labored while he was around them so he would bechargeable to no man. This shows true servanthood, when we serve because it is who we are.

  13. 2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
Not all men walk in the same faith. If they show themselves disorderly, such as to sow discord we should seperate ourselves from that. That could cause a dam in our river of Holy Ghost and we must not take part in it. The Lord will establish us and help us to stay away from this evil. However we are not to treat them as our enemy but admonish them as a brother. If we were to treat them as an enemy we would bring harm to ourselves, also causing a dam in our river. The Lord shall give us the peace we need if we seek Him in all things.

  14. This chapter is simple, earn your keep. Christ was not lazy and the Disciples were not lazy if we are going to call ourselves Christians than we must not be lazy. This chapter is essentially what the United States was founded on “work”, the world is watching us we must be an example. May Jesus Bless you all

  15. Some folks are busy…. busy doing nothing.
Living kingdom minded isn’t a like a treadmill where you can walk all day long and get nowhere fast. It’s more like an ironman competition… only the true athletes will make it.
Hanging around the busybodies make you a nobody… guilty by association.
    Be a somebody, work.

  16. 13Don’t you remember the rule we had when we lived with you? “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.” And now we’re getting reports that a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings are taking advantage of you. This must not be tolerated. We command them to get to work immediately—no excuses, no arguments—and earn their own keep. Friends, don’t slack off in doing your duty the message bible

they say man only uses 10% of his brain that if he could unlock the potential of the other 90% we would be supermen. Imagine if we could tap the whole potential of the church and have everyone working at there top level, what an impact we would make on this world.

  17. This passage tells us that others are wacthing us and we need to act in accordance with God’s word in everything so that our testamony will not be harmed. Every thing we do brings glory or dishonor to God’s kingdom.

  18. 2 And pray that we will be protected from stubborn and evil people, because not all people believe.
I pray that God would lead us to hungry people that desire to believe.

  19. V.6 “We command you WITHDRAW yourself from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the TRADITIONS which ye rec’d of us.” Simply said I must say, but yet so hard to turn away from people who we “think” are truly friends, some friends that we have chosen are truly not faithful, trustworthy, friends that will encourage us with the word of GOD or perhaps they are not living in obedience to the word of GOD. So many times we think that we need to be speaking/living like our friends do..not so!!! Eventually you will become like your friends and you will be known by your fruits….(rotten fruit)

  20. 15 Don’t think of them as enemies, but warn them as you would a brother or sister. (NLT)

Yes God even died for your worst enemy, so don’t turn them away but reach out to them and Be Church to them.
