Titus Chapter 2

Titus 2

1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

  1. v 14 “Zealous Of Good Works ”

    The apostle Paul found the meaning of living
    an exciting life.
    Be zealous of good works ; Good deeds.
    Do whats right. Hear God’s word and do it.

  2. It is ironic that people who are exhorted and instructed to do good and godly things, have to be called “peculiar” because of the “norms” of this world.

  3. v9-10 “NIV “Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.” Paul is saying that Christian slaves could give a powerful testimony of the gospel by being faithful and obedient to their Master. And we as Christians should “adorn” the gospel” that it should be beautiful in the eyes of those who do not know our Master so that they would desire Him.

  4. 9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

    This is what was preached last night and the rally. How to be a servant. A servant can be used of God just as much as a minister.

  5. hi everyone this is more instructions giving by paul. the old women should teach the young woman the way of the lord. the old man should teach the young man. We all should do this because it is pleasing to our savior, who died for us. and thats that.

  6. This chapter illustrates submission. If we are to Be-church then we must be obedient and so must our homes. If it is wrong than don’t do it and if it is right do it, even the world knows this so we should also. We must pray for each other if we see an issue, we should never do one another wrong for we all have issues. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  7. 9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

    this could pertain to the person at Work too :

  8. This chapter gives instruction to men, women and children how to live so that when that great appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ occurs, we will all be ready.

  9. Grace that GOD gives is such a valuable asset to the Christian believer in Jesus Christ. In his writing to Titus Paul explains the purpose of grace is to turn us away from carnal, sinful pleasures, and give us a license to live any way we want to.

    11 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,

    BE Church
    BE Devoted to GOD.

  10. In this present world… we can serve the Lord. In this present world… we can be holy. In this present world… we can be submitted. In this present world… ungodliness should be denied; it’s not a culture thing we adapt to, it’s a sin thing that we should rebuke. In this present world… we can BE CHURCH.

  11. This chapter reminds me of what was spoken after Warfare Prayer about men at POFW taking after Pastor and women after Sis Watts. There seems to be a theme in this chapter about the experienced helping to nurture and raise the younger in the ways of the Lord, similar to father and mother roles, that there would be an impartation from one generation to the next. There seems to be a great burden in this hour for the current generation to grab ahold of what previous generations have before we lose the opportunity as more and more great men and women of God are called home. I am thankful for the spiritual father and mother Jesus has given us at POFW who give so much in fulfilling the role of spiritual parents to us. We are not lacking in opportunity to gleen from them and grow, we only have to be willing and put that will into action.

  12. It’s time for us to get up and get going. We have to start pushing back at sometime, letting the enemy know who’s boss and who has all power. The enemies power over you is limited to the amount of power you give him. So, if you give him no power or authority over your life, then he is powerless when it comes to challenging you.

  13. So many people over the years have told me that doctorine isn’t necessary, if not then Paul wouldn’t have mentioned it so much to Titus. If it weren’t then why would there be so much talk of doctorine in the bible? The reason is that doctorine is very very inportant. It is the base thought pattern of what we believe. One God. One faith. One baptism.

  14. Everytime we may feel like we dont know what our purpose as women of the church is we should read this chapter. I love the way that God always gives us instruction of what He expects of us. Praise be to God!!!

  15. This chapter talks to me about teaching. We all teach something………..we need to make sure that what we teach shows God’s love in everything we do, say and live.

    Verses 11-13 in the NIV say….”For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ”
