Revelation Chapter 22

Revelation 22

1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

6And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

7Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

8And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

9Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

10And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

  1. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Wanna be blessed? Just follow God’s commandments! Blessings will run over in your life and the best blessing yet to come; eternal life in the kingdom of God!

  2. v4 NIV “They shall see his face, and his name shall be on their foreheads”
Ps 17v15 “And I–in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”
Fanny Crosby said that she was glad that she was born blind because the first face she would be able to see was that of her Jesus!
We must be righteous through Him if we want to see him face to face.

  3. 1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

When Jesus went to the well He meet a woman there and asked for a drink. This water in the chapter is what He was giving to her .The living water. It’s pure, without dirt and toxins, and most of all it gives life, and it comes from the source which is the throne of the Living God.

  4. The Blessing and the curse of obedience.

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

    vs.

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

JESUS help me to carefully and delicately search the scriptures to love to do your will and accept your call for my life and LOVE obedience.

I want the INHERITANCE you have designated for me.

    BE Church
    BE Obedient

  5. . 7Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Understanding that this scripture is probably referring to all the 66 books. It makes me wonder if he was specifically speaking of “the revelation of Jesus Christ”

Keeping the words of this book, its symbols, metaphors, promises, judgements, and prophecy, God said that we will be blessed by it.

I believe he wants to reveal the secrets hidden therein and longs for us to ask him. The books were sealed up unto the time of the end, and now we can understand.

Just as there is depth in many other passages in the bible, so is there many layers of insight, wisdom, and understanding in the last book.

  6. Revelation closes human history as Genesis opened it, in paradise. There is one distinct difference in Revelation, evil is gone forever. Genesis describes Adam and Eve walking and talking with God; Revelation describes people worshiping God face to face. Genesis describes a garden with an evil serpent; Revelation describes a perfect city with no evil. The Garden of Eden was destroyed by sin; but paradise is recreated in the new Jerusalem.

The book of Revelation ends with an urgent request, “Come, Lord Jesus.” In a world of problems, persecution, evil, and immorality, Christ calls us to ENDURE in OUR FAITH. He alone controls human history, forgives sin, and will recreate the earth and bring lasting peace. Revelation is, above all, a book of hope. It shows that no matter what happens on earth, God is in control. It promises that evil will not last forever, and it depicts the wonderful reward taht is waiting for all those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  7. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come yye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Verse 17 its says the Spirit and the BRIDE were saying the same thing. Lets go out and declare the Word of the Lord to all the thirst!

  8. v17 And the spirit and the bride say, come.
And let him that heareth say come.
And let him that. is athrist come,
And whosoever will let him take the water
    of life freely

Blessed are those who are called unto the
    marriage supper of the Lamb.

” Let him who is thirsty come”. and
“take the water of life which is without price.
    HE IS OUR ENDLESS RESOURCE……….
“We shall see Him as He is”. and live
in His presence and WORSHIP HIM
for ever more. HE IS WORTHY !!!

  9. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Thank God for His prompt return and let us not be caught unprepared. My prayer is that He will find us at work for His Kingdom!!

  10. 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I have to say this is my favorite verse in the Bible. The problem that “religions” get into is that they pick and choose the verses from the Bible that they want to follow and they dont live by the full book. I heard a man preaching on the radio the other day and he said, that a verse wasn’t really supposed to be in the Bible. I got so upset, how can anyone presume to question the mind of God and the Bible is Gods word. You can’t say he didn’t mean that or thats not what he said, when it’s in his book.

  11. 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The Spirit and the bride say, Come. This is the call of Christ to all who will listen. Come, he is our hope, the only way, truth and the Life! Be Church!

  12. Vs 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and might enter in through the gates into the city.

What a hope we have in obedience to God’s word! And his reward is with him-what an honor just to be with him! (reward is the icing on the cake) The true prize is to be in that holy city where the Lord is the light and we are in his presence forever.!

  13. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Lord help me to obedient to your commandments so that I may enter the gates of that city, bow and cry Holy unto you, the King of Kings!

  14. 7 “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.
12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
20 He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”

In this chapter alone we get 3 “heads-up” of his coming follosed by small pieces of advice, obeying the word, doing His deeds, and faithfulness. Be Church.

  15. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have the RIGHT to the TREE OF LIFE, AND may enter in through the gates into the city. Jesus help me to live a life of Obediance to word!!!

  16. This chapter is it; “Behold, I come quickly blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book”. We need not play church the one that will judge us all knows all, we must heed the Word and get right with God NOW while we have breath. We must thank God for a Pastor and all those that preach & teach the truth; “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  17. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
We will be blessed if we follow His commandments . We have an opportunity that will not always be there. We must take freely the water of life and be willing to do God’s will.

  18. 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

2 Peter 1:6 says “knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation” The Word of God was literary God’s words that He gave to man. Man may have wrote the words down but it was given by God. The Psalmist wrote “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89) Meaning the Word of God was established before the foundation of th earth and will continue to exist forever into the future. When someone tries to take away from the Word of God they are no longer under submission to the authority of God and will be cast down just as Satan was.

Every Word in the Bible is of vital importance and failure to take His word with absolute seriousness is a matter of life and death.

  19. “whosoever will”
All we have to do is want salvation, holiness, eternal life… if we WANT, if we have the WILL we can have it.

“You Gotta Have The Want To”
    – Rev. Allan Oggs

  20. V1 “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”

I’m caught by the descriptions here: “a pure river…clear as crystal.” Clean, untainted, unmarred, preserved, holy, the very best, pure… In this season, we have access to life and life more abundantly through Christ, yet we still exist seeing the pain, troubles, and cares of this life. Through Jesus we can overcome all this and still have that victorious life despite the circumstances of this world, but still we must face them and witness them around us. But oh what a day that will be… when we get to go on to our eternal home and all of that death and pain and darkness is gone and we are there with Jesus without any interference or distraction or snare…

  21. 5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

To be illuminated by God’s glory. That’s the best light there is.

  22. 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

perfect reason why we don’t add to or take away from His holy word….

  23. Vs 18 & 19 we should be very careful to speak the Word of God and not change its meanings or we will face his judgement.

  24. Verses 8-9 in the NLT read…..”I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me. 9 But he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God!” I can only imagine!!!! We must worship only God and obey.
