Mark Chapter 1

Mark 1

1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

2As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

5And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

6And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

7And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

8I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

10And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

11And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

12And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

13And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

14Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

16Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

19And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

20And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

21And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

22And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

23And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

24Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

26And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

28And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

29And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

31And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

32And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.

33And all the city was gathered together at the door.

34And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

39And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

40And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

42And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

43And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

44And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

45But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

  1. I can’t help but to notice that after the baptism, and commendment. Jesus is immediately moved to the desert where he is bothered by satan and his antics. Then John was put into prison. When you start to move in allignment of the will of the Lord, I can’t help but recognize even in my life there’s a struggle with satan.. simply because Jesus and his followers are ruining his satanic plans. Plans he himself knows that he cannot hide from, but will attack in any way possible to hinder God’s people. Pain, issues and strife were promised to us on this narrow road.

  2. v 34 NIV “And Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.” Jesus must not have been ready at this time to let everyone know who he was. However, the demons already KNEW HIM and recognized his authority. . They knew who he was and knew about his mission. Then, it is not enough for us to KNOW HIM!! Knowing him and knowing about him will not secure our eternity. We must Repent, Baptized in Jesus Name and receive the Holy Ghost. V 17 says in part “Come, follow me.” Not just come to Him but follow Him. There is a difference.

  3. 33And all the city was gathered together at the door.

34And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

  4. 16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

How much are you willing to leave behind to follow your SAVIOR????

  5. 9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

Jesus was baptized to set an example for us.

  6. In your wilderness you might not have your miracle yet.
You don’t see, feel,or hear anything yet but your miracle
    is coming.
v 3 ” PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD”
Be baptize in Praise,Thanksgiving, and Worship the
    LORD in your wilderness
    v 7 ” THERE COMETH ONE MIGHTIER ”
v 8 ” HE SHaLL BAPTIZE YOU WITH THE
    HOLY GHOST”
Your miracle is on the way!!!
    JESUS IS THE MIRACLE WORKER!!!

  7. Verses 7-8 in the Message Version read….”As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.” Wow…..a kingdom life!

  8. Mark 1:27
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

    01849
1849 exousia ex-oo-see’-ah from 1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, i.e. (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely, magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence:–authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength. see GREEK for 1832

The same word for power in acts, is the same word Jesus used here.

    We have that same power!

  9. (Come follow me and I’ll make you fisher of men.)He meaning God wants to make you servants of him, for you reach out 4 people. So you may do what he
    did.

  10. 35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Jesus also had to find a solitary place to pray while he went out ministering to people-how much more do we need that prayer time?

45But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

When we cna show this city who Jesus is & what He can do in their lives by the word of our testimony our church will not be able to contain the mutitudes of people who have desparate needs for God to heal!

    Be Church

  11. 24Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
34And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
It seems the devils knew Him better than the people. I want the rule between me and Jesus to be as close as humanly possible. I don’t want any devil believing more than I.

  12. 37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

As the disciples were concerned, Jesus had his mind on his purpose. He would not accept distraction.

  13. 24Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

My soul is vexed when I read this scripture. How many people in this world don’t know who god is and the demons do.

In Gills exposition of the bible he says “what have we to do with thee? They had nothing to do with Christ, as a Saviour; they had no interest in him, nor in his redemption, but he had something to do with them, to show his power over them, and to deliver men out of their hands:

How powerful Jesus still has this same power lets BE CHURCH

  14. 22And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

Twice it is recorded in this chapter that the men were astonished by the authority of Christ. We, as followers of Christ, should never feel powerless or without authority. We have angels ready to follow our command. It is our inheritance from our Father. The key to activating this authority, is through prayer and fasting. We recieved power when we were filled with the Holy Ghost. Walk in authority ! Be Church!

  15. V.18 And straight way they forsook their nets, and followed Him. Will I forsake all to follow him,as some did??

  16. The true power of submission and humility.

7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

John fulfilled his calling with the understanding of several facts; a few the Lord brought to my attentionin this verse.

    1. Keep focus on your calling and ministry in order to accomplish and fufill it to the best of your ability with conviction, passion and determination.

    2. There is a favored attitude in serving and that is humility; knowing that everybody has someone to answer to.

    3. When we have done all we can there is a greater force coming after us; JESUS.

    4. Every Ministry is temporary; the investment is eternal; the opportunnity is temporary.

BE Church and make the best of every opportunity to minister because the investment is ETERNAL but the Ministry or opportunity is temporary.

  17. 41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

My prayer is that I would be moved with compassion for the lost and for the bro and sis of the body.

  19. v 20And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

How many people will be willing to leave whatever they’re doing to follow Christ? It’s important that we get rid of everything that would hinder us from receiving everything that God has in store for us.

  20. This chapter is illustrates submission. John the Baptist submitted and did what he was called to do, all the way to prison and then to the grave. Jesus was driven to the wilderness after he was baptized. Simon and Andrew submitted, and followed God when they were told to and forsook all they knew as did James and John. The unclean spirit was told to be silent and the fever left Simon’s wife’s mother. How much more therefore should we submit, especially if the Creator (God) himself did. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  21. 17 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
18 And they left their nets at once and followed him. (NLT)

Lets follow God and go “fish” for people!

  22. When Jesus called the disciples they “forsook all” and followed him. Many times we must be willing to give up some things to follow Jesus. Be ready and willing as Jesus calls us closer to his side.

  23. 11And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

12And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

13And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

after a word from God we can expect for our trial to begin…
