Mark Chapter 10

Mark 10

1And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

2And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

3And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

4And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

5And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

10And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

11And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

13And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

28Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

31But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

34And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

35And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

37They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

49And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

  1. V.6. BUT FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION GOD MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. Idk why people are so confused about their GENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!! P/U THE WORD OF GOD, IT’S TRUTH! !

    • The key word is “confused” for the king of confusion is the devil therefore he is the only one that can birth such thing as gender confusion.

  2. v 21 ” and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:
and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

HEAVEN’ IS THE PLACE TO INVEST.

  3. 14But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

We must be as little children to enter into the kingdom of God!

  4. 21Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.22And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

Don’t hold on to the things of this world. They will all pass away. We need to put our trust in God to provide all things for us. Take up your cross and follow Him!

  5. V 52 NIV “What do you want me to do for you ?” Jesus asked the blind man said. “Rabbi, I want to see.” v52 “Go” said Jesus “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Jesus doesn’t open our spiritual eyes for us to go back into our old lifestyle but to follow Him.

  6. 5And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

    7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

In the begining of time he made Adam and Eve. They were one and designed to be extremely close with God. Jesus is saying that was the plan then, and the same plan today. Divorce was introduced when they ate from the fruit. Man turned away from Gods command (marriage) to instead do their own thing. I think of it as God divorced Adam and Eve the same way he divorced the Isrealites to be exiled to Babylon. It was never the purpose, but mans stiff neckedness lead to divorce.

  7. 17And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

It is not enough to just repent, be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost and live an overcoming life. We have to take what God has given us to the world, not only sharing spriitually with them what they have need of, but also meeting their physical needs. For some it may be clothing, for some food, whatever they have need of, we should go the extra mile to build a bridge between them and the Lord. God did not bless us what we have for ourselves, He blessed us to give it away, and he will return it to us in manifold blessings!

  8. Vs. 6 says but from the beginning god made them male and female.
In the society we live in today this is the verse in the Bible that comes under attack the most. Even so called “Christians” are trying to pervert this scripture. People want the 10 commandments posted in courthouses why don’t we post this scripture in our courthouses. If ever we needed to protect the sanctity of marriage, it is now

  9. 23-25 Looking at his disciples, Jesus said, “Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who ‘have it all’ to enter God’s kingdom?” The disciples couldn’t believe what they were hearing, but Jesus kept on: “You can’t imagine how difficult. I’d say it’s easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for the rich to get into God’s kingdom.” 26 That set the disciples back on their heels. “Then who has any chance at all?” they asked. 27 Jesus was blunt: “No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you let God do it.” MSG

    Matt 19:26
26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

Alone we don’t stand a chance but if daily pick up our cross and follow Him we have EVERY chance in the world. All things are possible with Christ!

  10. 6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

    7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

So thankful for a Godly husband who loves the Lord and me! If we model love the way God models love to us then there should be no allowance or cause for divorce. Don’t let your heart be harden, BE LOVE AND BE FORGIVENESS~BE CHURCH!

  11. Verses 47-52 in the NLT read…”When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road. When we cry out to God he hears our faith!

  12. 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

He Calleth Thee: To be a Sunday School Teacher, Bus driver, Part of the Bus Team, Hospitality Team Etc.

Are you ready to Be Church!

  13. 21Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Jesus loved the rich man the same as he loved the poor man, What made the difference between the 2 men is that the rich man trusted in or had a love for his wealth more than he trusted in or had a love for his savior.

29And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Trusting him enough to give our all comes with his blessings of a hundredfold. Leaving this world and it’s riches behind for the kingdom of God has much greater benefit when it also comes with eternal life!

  14. Mark 10:21
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Nothing about this request should surprise a believer. Jesus lived and died on the cross, and for us to be blessed we must do the same. Notice it says sell what you have and give to the poor.

Once there is a cleansing of the world from our lives the next is a call to reach the lost.

Isaiah 6 says that when the sin was removed from his lips, then the Lord said who will go and he answered I will.

Our washing is not just for our salvation, but for others too.

  15. The divorce issue has been one of our greatest stumbling blocks. Even the disciples anked Jesus to explain this teaching one more time to make sure they had heard right. Of everything that took plce in this chapter this must have been hard hitting to them and there belief system.

  16. This chapter is full of teaching. From marriage to faith,we are in a society of low of standards, no faith. etc. But we have God, and the verse said with God all things are posible.

  17. No matter how much people may desire riches and seek wealth whats more important is to have a walk with God. Matthew 6:33 says it best.

  18. 19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

jesus doesn’t like it when we do bad things. If we do bad thing, it makes Jesus sad, because Jese don’t like bad. You have to obey your mom and dad, because that’s being good….

  19. DESPERATE NEEDS ARE CAUSE FOR DESPERATE PRAISE

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

No one knows like the desperate how critical the need is; Bartimaeus was desperate for the attention of JESUS. He cried out; however when opposition arose he cried the more a great deal. The MSG version says: Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!”

Maybe your problem and the people around us are pressing us to be quiet and take a seat; I believe JESUS is seeking some endtime believers that will elevate our voice with our need to HIM.

    BE Church

  20. 9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

when two get married they should not get divorced….

16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

when we love on Jesus He makes sure we have a good day…

  21. This chapter is full and deep if we take the time to read and study it. The most humbling yet simple verse is when God said; “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” Why is it so hard once we have become mature (in our minds) to enjoy all that God has provided us and/or the world twists and perverts it. We simply must become as little children, so we can do as God’s Word commands if we are to Be-Church like Pastor preaches and teaches. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  22. AsI work with my girls helping them to read and understand what they are reading I am floored with their enthusiam and excitement for getting to share their thoughts with others, and getting to hear what their friends have to say about the same scriptures. I am truely learning the “comming unto Christ as a little child” . When we carry their level of excitement and enthusiam to praise and worship, to bible study, to work, to whereever we might be going, Jesus will use us mightily….

  23. 15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

“Children exhibit sincerity, eagerness, a trusting attitude, and total dependence on their parents. This childlikeness is a fitting comparison for the qualities a disciple should have.” NKJV Study Bible

  24. Too many people look to pick value and prestige on the journey with Jesus. Truth is… Only crosses are available to travel with, it’s the only carry on allowed.

  25. 17And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

This man was kneeling at the feet of his salvation only to walk away grieved. He exchanged the salvation that he could of had for the riches that were his. I have never read where this man was ever saved or came across Jesus again. To often times we take for granted the opportunity to kneel at the Master’s feet. To many have walked away greived for what they might have to give up for their salvation. What cost is to great for salvation, eternal life?

  26. Jesus calls us to cast aside all so that we might be joined to Him in pure, unfeigned relationship that should never be broken. What can separate us from the love of Jesus? Let not man in sin separate himself from God and break the relationship Christ paid the price to restore. Humanity is born fallen, but the church is reborn risen and separation from Jesus is a choice not a given. A strong call for the bride to do away with interferances in her relationship with the Bridegroom.

  27. Vs.14 “….Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

Children have a natural instinct to trust and believe when someone promises them something. We need this same child like Faith in Jesus. If Jesus said it, that settles it! We should automaticly trust Jesus, and not question it.

  28. 51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Lord I pray in the time of need my pride would not stand in the way of my faith to recieve such a blessing

  29. 9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

If we as Christians can grab a hold of this truth, we truly cannot be defeated. When God’s hand is in it, you better believe it’s going to be good.
