Exodus Chapter 15

Exodus 15

1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

3The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

4Pharaoh‘s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

5The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

8And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

9The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

10Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

12Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.

13Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

14The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

15Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

16Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.

17Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O LORD, which thy hands have established.

18The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.

19For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.

20And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

21And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

22So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

24And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

26And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

27And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

  1. There is a tree that made my bitter waters sweet. The cross of Calvary took my dead situation and turned it around.

The water was water but was the tree was placed in it it became something else. Feeding millions!

Now my attitude can cause bitterness in others and thirst. However, a sweet attitude can be a refreshing spring to others, and lead them to the fountain of living water.

  2. Vs 26 The Lord made a conditional promise to the Isrealites that if they would follow his words then they would would not be brought a curse upon their lives. It would be so good for us too to follow the word of God and our lives would be better.

  3. v 1 NIV Then Moses and the Isaelites sang this song to the Lord: I will sing to the Lord for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

Lord, don’t let me forget my song of deliverance from Babylon!

  4. V.2 The LORD is my STRENGTH and Song. And HE has become my Salvation: HE IS my GOD, and I will prepare Him an habitation; my father’s God. And I will exalt HIM. GLORY!!!!!

  5. Miriam is the woman in the bible to be called a prophetess. What sort if ministry did she, a woman, have in early Isrealite culture?
#1 Micah 6:4 speaks of the leadership role she shared with Moses and Aaronin bringing the Isrealites out of Egpyt.
#2 From 12: 1,2 & 6 we understand that God spoke to Miriam in visions and dreams.
#3 Finally as a prophetess, she led God’s people in worship and praise.

  6. v16 ” tll thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
v 17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
v 18 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.

The Lord has been so good to us!
Those experiences Moses.and the Israelites had in the wilderness were pointing the way to Calvary.
Our Great GOD was thinking about us.
I’m coming back and I’m going to dwell in them.
I’m going to give them power to pray for the sick, cast out devils. ( Hallelujah I’m rejoicing right now)
GOD has spoken and doing Great things in our lives. HE is Faithful! HE will bring it to pass, as we Trust HIM.

  7. 2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Whan you loss your song and dance the Lord is the song and dance to Him.

  8. 1-18
    MOSES SONG
The song recorded here celebrates Gods victory over the Egyptians. It is more than a song however . It is a teaching tool. Words set to music are more easily remembered. Lets remeber the power of songs and be sure that the music our childern listen to promotes godliness rather than the attitudes and values of a lost world.

  9. AFTER THEY DANCE AND SING AND PRAISE GOD THEY START TO MURMUR AGAIN-NO WATER THEY SAID. VERSE 26 SUMS UP THE WHOLE
CHAPTER. TRUST AND OBEY THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO BE HAPPY IN JESUS,JUST TRUST AND OBEY! GET THE MURMUR OUT GET THE MUSIC IN, LET THE PRAISE BEGIN!!

  10. after clearing the water of its bitterness, they did not stay there, instead they moved on and found a place with 12 clear wells. This waters of Marah were not longer bitter, but they did not stay there. This tells me that even when you overcome the bitterness of a situation, or bitterness to a person, you shouldn’t stay where you are. forgive and move on to a place of clear water. if not I promise you, the bitterness will come back

  11. 27And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

    One Well for each tribe…
Shade from a palm for each elder…

That’s what some theologians find unique about this passage. I just love how in the midst of a desert place God can lead a people to an oasis.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

  12. This chapter is a praise. The Lord has and will continue to show himself mightily, if we remember to praise him, as was done when pastor preached Sunday eve. We must do as pastor teaches and praise God, not only after the victory but also before and we too will see the chariots of our enemies and troubles covered by the sea. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. 25And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

When we cry out to the Lord he can make our bitter situation sweet.

  14. 26And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

The Word of the Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. I’m trusting in this same word for healing for the many saints that are suffering with afflictions. Help us to harken diligently to the Lord and do what is right in His sight, not in our own, forget our selfish ways, bring our mind and thoughts into subjection of His spirit, and then we have the promises of healing….. He is the Lord that healeth – I believe it and receive it in Jesus name.

  15. The waters of Marah are contrasted with the springs of Elim. Marah stood for the unbelieving, grumbling attitude of the people who would not trust God. Elim stands for God’s bountiful provision. How easy it is to grumble and complain too quickly, only to be embrarrssed by God’s help! We must be patient for God’s kindness and help. Don’t let a negative attitude erode your trust in God.

  16. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR SONG AND DANCE

20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

We should never forget the bondage that JESUS has brought us out of.

Always seeking a new song of deliverance for the continual blessings and favor of GOD.
