Leviticus Chapter 3

Leviticus 3

1And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.

2And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron‘s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

3And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

4And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

5And Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

6And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the LORD be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

7If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the LORD.

8And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle the blood thereof round about upon the altar.

9And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat thereof, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

10And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

11And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the LORD.

12And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD.

13And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.

14And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

15And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

16And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD’s.

17It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

  1. and the priest will burn them on the altar. It is a special gift of food, a pleasing aroma to the Lord . All the fat belongs to the Lord . (Leviticus 3:16 NLT)

The excess in our lIfe is what drags us down. The worry, care, issues, and problems swimming in our minds is enough to make the most stable person sea sick.

God wants us to have his mind. Not that we won’t go through storms, but while the waves are crashing around us, the waters are still within us.

During the rush of the season, let’s not allow the excess to hinder God’s purpose.

Cast your cares upon Him for he cares for you.

    Let him do the caring.

  2. DETAILED SACRIFICE

3 And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

4 And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

Again we see the details of the sacrifice. The approach to the sacrifice was so detailed and intricate; every organ was important to the sacrifice. We can apply the principal of approach to GOD with similar attention to detail.

Though we do not offer animals; we offer ourselves a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.) and should approach every worship opportunity with the same reverence and self inspection.

    Examine yourself.

  3. A person gave a fellowship offering as an expression of gratitude and a means of maintaining fellowship between himself and God. The animal’s sacrificed life emphasized the value of gratitude and maintaining harmony with God. Neither peace with God nor thanks to God was to be considered a cheap or unimportant gift because it symbolized peace with God.

  4. As we offer GOD our most valued gift of
peace offering; in praise, thanksgiving, worship, prayers, fasting, and foot washing.
An expression of humility that can be a beautiful time with GOD and with each other.
    GOD LOVES FELLOWSHIP.

  5. These scriptures show the the intricate details that God looks at in our lives. Just as God was very paticular as to how to sacrifice a animal he is paticular about how we live our lives.

  6. 5And Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

There were different sacrifices for different sins. I was always taught that when you repented that you needed to be specific as they were in the Old Testiment. Also that there was a death of the flesh. I fear that there’s a spirit thats coming in that says, “You know what you did wrong and God knows what you did wrong. So you dont have to say what you did wrong.” As I have heard Pastor say God wants to hear your voice. Why are so ashamed of what God has brought us from? Is it because of pride?

Lord, I pray that my sacrifice be a sweet savour unto you.

  7. Regardless of the type of sacrifice made, everything was without blemish that was sacrificed. Lord, help us to check the sacrifices we make to ensure they are without blemish, and our best.

  8. The fat is the Lord’s… The best is for the Lord. After getting LOST IN RESEARCH on this chapter I learned several things one of which was that the fat that the lord had to be removed was isolated fat not the fat in the muscle tissue. This fat was for the Lord, it represented the best of it, kind of like the fat of the land… The best of it. Repetitive, I know. This does not mean that we cannot eat fat, fat is in most meats that we eat. The majority of fat, the free standing fat belongs to the lord. Not only that, God was trying to help us… He set up a diet for us a long time ago. Get ready for chapter 11!

  9. The Lord speaks of the burnt offering being a sweet aroma. Until it was put into the fire it could not give off the sweet smell that he was looking for. Had it not been put into the fire it would have just been an animal killed for no reason and left to rot. It would not have been prepared correctly for the priest to consume. Let us be mindful of ourselves as we are a living sacrifice to the Lord. We can have everything on the outside ready and all dressed up but if we don’t put fire on the inside ( Holy Ghost, prayer, the word, fasting, etc) then we are dead and will give off an aroma that smells unpleasing to the Lord.

  10. This chapter illustrates direction. There was direction, which was to be followed when preparing the sacrifice. We must also follow direction on what we do for the Lord. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  11. Vs 17 God’s ordinances are forever. Even today our doctors tell us not to eat fat. It is bad of us. All they had to do was look in the Bible, instead of spending money on research.

  12. 15And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

16And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD’s.

the things are designed to remove the impurities from our bodies, and our food, God wants. He wants us to lay down our sins and follow Him.
