Leviticus Chapter 24

Leviticus 24

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

3Without the vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations.

4He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the LORD continually.

5And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake.

6And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.

7And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

8Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.

9And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.

10And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;

11And the Israelitish woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:)

12And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them.

13And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

14Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

15And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.

16And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

17And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

18And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.

19And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;

20Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

21And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.

22Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

23And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

  1. Vs 2-4 We should make sure that we are filled with the oil of the Holy Ghost so that our light might shine continually before others.

  2. This boy of the Israelitish mom who cursed God broke the 3rd commandment.Not a very smart thing to do,he also came from the tribe of dan.Dan also means judgement ,so I guess his sentence in life came sooner than later.

  3. 10And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;

    Though this son was of two nationalities, the focus is on the on, Israel. We have been called to be separate from the world around us and to lead not only our families, but also those around us to Christ. With Egypt being a type of the world, this mother had the responsibility to make sure that her chieldern knew and understood the law and the conquinces for breaking them. Today we have the same responsibilities to teach our chieldren, the question is how good of a job are we doing…It takes work, and lots of it.

    i WORK.

  4. PROTECT THE CAMP (CHURCH)

    23 And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

    In a society where “freedom of speech” is heralded and nearly worshipped as an idol, believers are judged by society for speaking the Word of GOD, speaking of HIS laws and commandments. It appears that society, the world and carnal christians alike can all say what they want in condemning, cursing and judging believers for living a separated, committed Christian life; however we the Church are not of this world and do not operate under the current society and its expectations and demands. We are to operate under the rule of the Kingdom of GOD.

    As a result of an argument the man mentioned in verse 23 got in a fight with an Israelite and something he said was a curse to GOD.

    It was a common practice among the Egyptians to curse their idols when disappointed in obtaining the object of their petitions. The Egyptian mind of this youth thought the greatest insult to his opponent was to blaspheme the object of his religious reverence. He spoke disrespectfully of One who sustained the double character of the King as well as the God of the Hebrew people; as the offense was a new one, he was put in ward till the mind of the Lord was ascertained as to his disposal.

    We should protect the church, its leaders, and followers from negative forms of blasphemy against the church (GODS BRIDE) and more importantly our GOD.

    BE Church and protect the camp from blasphemers.

  5. vs 19>>
    And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbor; as he hath done, so shall it be done to them.

    I try to put myself second and my neighbor first. I dont want God’s wrath come upon me when I dont love my neighbor-as I love myself.
    I dont want any reprecutions to fall on me for my disobidience that God tells me in HIS WORD. I love the Word of God because it helps me learn how to be the best in every way that I can to whoever I come across in life.
    My neighbors in my life are very important to me and I cherish them alot. I live in an apartment and I have alot of neighbors who I care and respect alot. I want to show Christ so they will see Him- not me but Him. He’s so GLORIOUS!
    Thank-you Lord for showing me this everyday. Lord bless you all have a good day…

  6. “Take the blasphemer outside the camp, and tell all those who heard the curse to lay their hands on his head. Then let the entire community stone him to death. (Leviticus 24:14 NLT)

    The idea wasn’t for some sort of entertainment to the tune of Gladiator like amusement. Rather God was demonstrating judgement in two ways. One, on the man who sinned, he was put to death. Two, on the community around him that heard this. Had they been obedient, speaking the law of God, upholding it, an more involved in his life, he may have not uttered such blasphemy.

    Today we have a responsibility to uphold the law of God, and encourage those around us to do so as well. If we refuse to, then blood will be on our hands.

    Let’s be in unity, in one mind, in the body of Christ, and through this connection we will make it hard for anyone to backslide!

  7. v1-2 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying command the children of Israel that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light to cause the lamps to brun continually.

    We( I ) must not be so busy that we ( i ) don’t pray, fast, and read HIS WORD( good habits)
    It cannot be borrowed as in the story of the ten virgins. We must do our own work for HIS Kingdom.
    Just as Pastor taught Sunday morning.
    Too, many souls are depending on our faith, and prayers. Our spending time in prayer and in HIS WORD is a must.
    This world is only getting worst.they are talking about letting thousands of postal employees go; WOW!!!
    Never have people lived under such pressure.
    The day will come when we will have to offer the hurting and hopeless people ” the prayer of faith, joy, peace.”( sad to say some will refuse to receive what JESUS offers them )
    LORD let our burning lamps be full of the
    Holy Ghost and fire.
    It’s GOD’S will that we come before HIS presence every day in prayer and in HIS WORD. To depend MORE upon HIM.
    MORE CHRIST …

  8. I was raised as a child to respect God and the ten commandments.Even though I was Catholic I had a healthy respect toward Him but always had aquestioning mind. My first encounter with a loving merciful God was in the catholic church.I was about 13yr One day i raised my fist to the air and told God I didn’t believe in Him and it was all lies! From that point I couldn’t Figure out<If I did not believe who was I talking to? Many people do not read the Bible or study all religions like I have. So by what do they base there conclusions? I have concluded that there is one Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ! If we went back to the o.t. law maybe people would once again respect God. But out of love or out of fear? When Jesus returns he will rule with a rod of iron. Today we have the opportunity to receive Him in Love!!

  9. 13And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

    14Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

    15And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.

  10. This chapter illustrates justness. “Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.” We must never forget while we live under Grace and God is merciful, we will face judgment. Thank God for a man that preaches truth. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  11. 19And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;

    20Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

  12. V20 “Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.”

    It is not always clear to us how much sin costs, but you can always be sure it does not come without a price. We cannot afford to allow ourselves to become numb to what sin does to us in the spiritual just because we don’t always see it as obviously in the natural.

  13. 20Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

    The world we live in would be an entirely different world if these same principles applied. People have gone to the far extremes because the boundaries have been removed.

  14. God’s law is settled, regardless of what bloodline or country to which you belong. God is still a holy God and will judge sin. We may not be stoned for a sin today but I would dare say that the world might be a better place I’d such judgement was still given. I’m thankful for God’s mercy and his grace and I am heavy hearted at the abuse of it by the modern Christian movement.

    We need revival!

  15. An eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth kinds a lot better when we are on the other end and don’t have to turn the other cheek. I would have to say that flesh is weak and turning the other cheek is pretty much degrading. But as you grow in the Lord you see that even though you turn the other cheek He is there on your side and is working for your food. He might not do the ame to that person that they did to you but he will definitely raise you up and show himself through you! Be Church!

  16. 19 “Anyone who injures another person must be dealt with according to the injury inflicted—
    20 a fracture for a fracture, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Whatever anyone does to injure another person must be paid back in kind. (NLT)

    Sin does not go unpunished.

  17. vs 2 “Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually. NLT
    Let the Holy Ghost be the fuel for your Light to Shine

  18. The beginning of this chapter reminds me to always make sure my lamp(life) is full of oil (Jesus). The end of the chapter reminds us to be careful what comes out of our mouth. God will protect his camp (church). There is always a price for sin sooner or later!
