Numbers Chapter 2

Numbers 2

2Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.

3And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

4And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

5And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.

6And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun.

8And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth.

11And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

13And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

16All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank.

18On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.

32These are those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

33But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses.

34And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

  1. BLESSED OBEDIENCE

34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

The LORD spoke to Moses concerning the placement, order and Leadership of each tribe. As we read throughout the scriptures we gain clearer understanding of how GOD views ORDER.

The LORD chose the Leader of each Tribe of Israel and Moses executed the command of the LORD. Victory and blessing prevails when we are obedient to GOD’s plan. We must evaluate ourselves and answer if we are in the place GOD ordained for us.

It is time for the backslid, lost, and missing to return to their place and live a testimony that satan never can.

  2. We are all apart of the bigger picture. Each one of us is important and if we ever lose sight of that than we need to get the passion back. We are all apart of the number of Christ.

  3. Imagine that the placement of the tribes is like a giant clock. The east where the son rises being the morning, the south the noon time, the west the afternoon and the north evening and night.

The center being what is required at all times. This is what it would look like.
“The divisions of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun are to camp toward the sunrise on the east side of the Tabernacle,

    Sunrise
Judah – praise in the morning
Issachar – he will bring a reward
Zebulun – habitation (he inhabits our praises)

“The divisions of Reuben, Simeon, and Gad are to camp on the south side of the Tabernacle,

    Noon
Reuben – see ye a son (focus on Jesus)
Simeon – hearing (listen to his voice)
Gad – attack, invade, overcome (resist the devil)

“Then the Tabernacle, carried by the Levites, will set out from the middle of the

    The whole day
Levites – priests, attached (stay attached to Jesus)

“The divisions of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin are to camp on the west side of the Tabernacle,

    Afternoon
    Ephraim- fruitfulness (provision and prosperity)
Manasseh- causing to forget (and forgive)
Benjamin- son of my right hand (we have authority in Him)

“The divisions of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali are to camp on the north side of the Tabernacle

    Evening
Dan- judge (reflect on the day)
Asher – happy (rejoice and be glad
Naphtali- my wrestling (intercede for others)

I wonder what would happen if we did this everyday.

    • Wow.. That’s great we know how GOD feels about Judah. Let our Judah
( our praise) lead the way into HIS Presence. He dwells in the midst of
      our praise.

  4. 34And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

Whenever you wonder why the UPCI Church down the street isn’t exactly like us remember this scripture.

  5. 34 So the people of Israel did everything as the Lord had commanded Moses. Each clan and family set up camp and marched under their banners exactly as the Lord had instructed them. (NLT)

The people of Israel did exactly what the Lord had instructed them. Its time for us to line up with God and march forward in alignment with exactly what the Lord instructs in our lives.

  6. God has a specific place and purpose for us in His kingdom, both as individuals and as an assembly. It’s not enough to just be numbered among the people of God, there is a specific calling to be fulfilled. We are called to go, and do, called to a life more abundant with purpose to impact this world according to God’s will.

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iDo
    iAm Church

  7. 9All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth.

    Praise should always be first!

  8. “34And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded …”

Ther is something to be said for working obediently…..

    iWork

  9. This chapter illustrates place. We all have been placed (pitched) knowingly and/or unknowingly where we are meant to be; “So we, being many, are one body in Christ”. We must therefore strive to do the best we can to ensure our area is prepared for whatever the Lord would have us to do. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  10. This reminds me of playing team sports in school. If one of your players got hurt or was absent, the team didnt function properly. We have to take our particular place, be present, and be ready to do our job to support the best team Ive ever been on. It sppeks to me that all of us are going to see different things as we face different directions but in the center of it all is the Church that we all have in common. It is our hub, the center of the wheel that allows us to be stuck together even as we fight in different directions. We all have a purpose in the fight. Realizing our purpose and standing your ground is what its about.

  11. They all pitched by their standards. That means that others will be able to find you by your standars as well. The Levites were kept separated from everyone else. We have to separate ourselves from the others as well.

  12. vs 9 So the total of all the troops on Judah’s side of the camp is 186,400. These three tribes are to lead the way whenever the Israelites travel to a new campsite. NLT
Praise should always lead us to higher places in the spirit.
    iPraise

  13. God’s plan is so detailed and precise.

Verse 34 in the Message reads….”The People of Israel did everything the way God commanded Moses: They camped under their respective flags; they marched by tribe with their ancestral families.”
