Numbers Chapter 28

30 Days of Prayer

Day 12

Pray for the church to become agents of help and healing for those in need in their workplace, community, schools, social circles and sphere of influence. Pray for needs among children, youth, and adults to be met: “As ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40)

Numbers 28

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.

3And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.

4The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;

5And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meat offering, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil.

6It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.

7And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering.

8And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

9And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:

10This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

11And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot;

12And three tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one bullock; and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one ram;

13And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.

14And their drink offerings shall be half an hin of wine unto a bullock, and the third part of an hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year.

15And one kid of the goats for a sin offering unto the LORD shall be offered, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

16And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD.

17And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.

18In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein:

19But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without blemish:

20And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: three tenth deals shall ye offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram;

21A several tenth deal shalt thou offer for every lamb, throughout the seven lambs:

22And one goat for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you.

23Ye shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.

24After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

25And on the seventh day ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work.

26Also in the day of the firstfruits, when ye bring a new meat offering unto the LORD, after your weeks be out, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work:

27But ye shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year;

28And their meat offering of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto one bullock, two tenth deals unto one ram,

29A several tenth deal unto one lamb, throughout the seven lambs;

30And one kid of the goats, to make an atonement for you.

31Ye shall offer them beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, (they shall be unto you without blemish) and their drink offerings.

  1. By reading this chapter we can see that God expects a daily offering, Sabath offering, and monthly offering. God’s Rx orders for offering: each day, burnt twice a day; once in the morning and twilight (Nu 28:3-8). On the Sabbath you add a bit more “in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.” (vs10) On the monthly offering you go further with different animals; rams, bulls with a “half hin of wine”, besides the “regular burnt offering with its drink offering” plus a sin offering. (vs14) We may not have to burn anymore offerings to the Lord, but we are able to make sacrifices and offerings daily in the spiritual and natural. Prayer, fasting, worshiping, money etc. can be done daily, weekly, monthly. The expectation is that we are obedient plus increase in our offering to the Lord.
    First we started off with perishable items, then graduate to non-perishable.

  2. Many of these offerings were made daily and continually, much like today we are instructed to offer our bodies a living sacrifice.

  3. Thank God for his sacrifice was perfect and a
    Complete!
    Our Lord now said: Give your heart and watch my commands, without The Holy Spitit will be imposible!
    We are now his living sacrifice!
    Amen!

  4. The captions in the CEV for this chapter read:

    Regular Daily Sacrifices
    The Sacrifice on the Sabbath
    The Sacrifices on the First Day of the Month
    The Sacrifices during Passover and the Festival of Thin Bread
    The Sacrifices during the Harvest Festival

    In the NLT they read:
    The Daily Offerings
    The Sabbath Offerings
    The Monthly Offerings
    Offerings for the Passover
    Offerings for the Festival of Harvest

    Our walk with the Lord is a daily and continual one. God made the ultimate sacrifice for you and I.

  5. v6 It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savor, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.

    I need the LORD every day.”My praise shall be continually of thee”
    Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let GOD be magnified. Ps.70:4

  6. DAILY WALK

    24 After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
    25 And on the seventh day ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work.

    Understanding how much GOD seeks to commune with his children is one of the greatest and most powerful revelations we may be blessed to comprehend.

    Our society has marketed and produced a microwave mentality where you can drive through once a week for an hours worth of Christian activities and call yourself a believer. This level of commitment and relationship is far from what GOD has in mind for his children.

    A DAILY WALK (sacrifice) or exercise. Then once a week for a worship service. We must evaluate our commitment to relationship GOD; are we walking with him daily by sacrificing time, talent, and treasure through prayer.

  7. Today is somewhat like the past, we still offer sacrifices to our Lord. We sacrifice family time, resting our body’s time, helping others, giving up things that we know we should have. I am glad that we don’t have to offer rams, kids, bullocks and other animals to speak to the Lord. All I have to do is simply go to my prayer closet and start telling him what is on my mind and what I need him to do for me. Then believe in Him and accept the healing and the process to begin.
    Thank you Jesus for my healings in my body, my spirit and soul. I am so ever grateful. I also say thank you for allowing my dad to stay with my mother and I a little while longer. I was unable to be there for him in church on Sunday Jan. 8, 2012 when he took a full blown heart attack. Thank you Jesus for reminding him to carry his nitro pills to help stop an attack from killing him. Thank you for all the people that cared and got my dad water, comfort and prayed for him, because I was in the nursery doing a job for Jesus. I want to say thank you because I don’t think that I could’ve taken it seeing him go through such an ordeal.
    Then Jesus healed him and my dad was able to come back to church that evening to hear Bro. Tim Green preach again. My dad wasn’t the peppy dad I know at church but I was very grateful he was there with my mother and me.
    Thank you Jesus, for my sacrifice, for keeping me in the nursery that day.

  8. Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.

  9. The Lord tells us about the physical sacrifices that Moses was to follow, and he was very specific. So we should also be ready to sacrifice spiritually. Our continual offering is to pray daily, in the morning, afternoon and night. We are to pray without ceasing and be specific about our prayers, such as God was with Moses.

  10. There is a certain way we should bring a sacrifice unto the Lord, it needs to be clean and holy. If we could just forget about everything else and give God our all, imagine what could happen.

  11. Their daily sacrifice was both morning and evening. That means the families who were all a part of providing these lambs, had to think ahead and sort out a lamb without blemish ahead of time. This enabled them to bring the sacrifice at the appointed time.
    For church services, we plan to come and pray for service ahead of time and we make preparations to be early so we can spend this time with God. But this preparation is for only 2 appointed days of the week.
    For the rest of the week, we must plan ahead and make time to talk to God morning and evening. Make it an appointed time that we set aside special for him. Coffee with Jesus? I hear some say this is their morning routine. I believe God loves the special time we set aside with him! …Whether we have coffee or not 🙂

  12. Very detailed directions were available to them for what God wanted. Today our “daily sacrifice” is just as serious and just as important.

  13. Continual offerings and sacrifices… Continual worship and continual consistency makes for a meaningful, deep, intimate, joyous, committed relationship with the Lord!

  14. God has a place in our walk with Him for the various seasons of life, from day to day to even broader seasons in our lives. He is Father, Friend, Healer, Counselor, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Savior, King, Redeemer… the great I Am for wherever we are in life. We are never forsaken; He said He would be with us alway, and He made the way for us to reach out and meet with Him throught our “alway” of life.

  15. This chapter illustrates thankfulness. We should be the most thankful of people and generations for we surely have it better than the Children of Israel did in Moses’s day. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. “31Ye shall offer them beside the continual burnt offering…”

    We should continually live our lives as a sacrifice…

  17. Inheritance:
    it is interesting to me that it does not say to give inheritance to the church. You should give it to son, daughter, his brothers, father’s brother, and then someone in the family.
