30 Days 0f Prayer

Day 17

Pray for laborers to be sent forth into the harvest, and for abundant finances and resources to spread the gospel throughout the world: “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38)

Numbers 33

1These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

2And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the LORD: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.

3And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

4For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

5And the children of Israel removed from Rameses, and pitched in Succoth.

6And they departed from Succoth, and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of the wilderness.

7And they removed from Etham, and turned again unto Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon: and they pitched before Migdol.

8And they departed from before Pihahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.

9And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.

10And they removed from Elim, and encamped by the Red sea.

11And they removed from the Red sea, and encamped in the wilderness of Sin.

12And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

13And they departed from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.

14And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.

15And they departed from Rephidim, and pitched in the wilderness of Sinai.

16And they removed from the desert of Sinai, and pitched at Kibrothhattaavah.

17And they departed from Kibrothhattaavah, and encamped at Hazeroth.

18And they departed from Hazeroth, and pitched in Rithmah.

19And they departed from Rithmah, and pitched at Rimmonparez.

20And they departed from Rimmonparez, and pitched in Libnah.

21And they removed from Libnah, and pitched at Rissah.

22And they journeyed from Rissah, and pitched in Kehelathah.

23And they went from Kehelathah, and pitched in mount Shapher.

24And they removed from mount Shapher, and encamped in Haradah.

25And they removed from Haradah, and pitched in Makheloth.

26And they removed from Makheloth, and encamped at Tahath.

27And they departed from Tahath, and pitched at Tarah.

28And they removed from Tarah, and pitched in Mithcah.

29And they went from Mithcah, and pitched in Hashmonah.

30And they departed from Hashmonah, and encamped at Moseroth.

31And they departed from Moseroth, and pitched in Benejaakan.

32And they removed from Benejaakan, and encamped at Horhagidgad.

33And they went from Horhagidgad, and pitched in Jotbathah.

34And they removed from Jotbathah, and encamped at Ebronah.

35And they departed from Ebronah, and encamped at Eziongaber.

36And they removed from Eziongaber, and pitched in the wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.

37And they removed from Kadesh, and pitched in mount Hor, in the edge of the land of Edom.

38And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the LORD, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.

39And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in mount Hor.

40And king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.

41And they departed from mount Hor, and pitched in Zalmonah.

42And they departed from Zalmonah, and pitched in Punon.

43And they departed from Punon, and pitched in Oboth.

44And they departed from Oboth, and pitched in Ijeabarim, in the border of Moab.

45And they departed from Iim, and pitched in Dibongad.

46And they removed from Dibongad, and encamped in Almondiblathaim.

47And they removed from Almondiblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

48And they departed from the mountains of Abarim, and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

49And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even unto Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.

50And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

51Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

52Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

53And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

54And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.

55But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

56Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

  1. It is good to look at where we have been in life, but more important we should look to where we are going. We need to get everything out of our life that will keep us out of Heaven. Even leaving one little thing may come back to destroy us.

  2. Moses has carefully recorded the Israelites journey, but its not until Numbers 33 that we see a full itenerary: Ramses to Succoth. Succoth to Etham And so on and so on..The itenerary provides an inspiring record of God’s provision for, and deliverance of, his people. However to the most practiced packer and mover, more than 40 address changes in 40 years sounds like a lot of uprooting. This must have been particularly difficult for the women, “nesters” of the nation.

Many of us wish that God would just let us settle into a job, a marriage, a home or some other aspect of life. We feel like we are constantly in transition. How might our current desert experiences be preparing us for the “promised land” of our future?

  3. 52 Drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places.
v55 But if you do not drive out in the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your side.
v 56 And I will do to you what I planned to do to them.

Matthew Henry: If we do not drive sin out; sin will drive us out; if we be not the death of our lusts, our lust will be the death of our souls.

  4. 55But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Sin and temptation must be defeated and nothing left to survive. If you let a remnant remain, then you open yourself up to spiritual death.

  5. 51Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

How true this is for us today. God has given us promises, but we must be obedient and destroy the things in our lives i.e. sins, idols, carnality, things in the high places of our minds that hold us back in order to obtain the promises. If we don’t we will be just like verse 55, those things will be come pricks in our eyes, thorns in our sides and vex us and most importantly keep us from the promises of the God being fulfilled.

Lord help me to lay aside every weight and sin that doth so easily beset me that I may obtain …. I do not want to wander in the wilderness and die without receiving what is mine in God.

  6. ACCOUNTABILITY/EVIDENCE

    51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

Chapter 33 gives the evidence of the importance of accountability and knowing where you are. Accountability helps us know where we are, where we have been and where we are going.

Evidence of obedience is driving out and destroying everything that opposes GOD in our lives. The New Covenant evidence is the FRUIT of the SPIRIT overpowering the works of the flesh in our lives.

We can only be sure of where we are Spiritually if we are accountable for our words, attitudes and actions.

  7. The journey has been a hard one,and at the same time it’s encouraging to see that GOD is always faithful HE will never forsake His children. Like Moses we too must be obedient and faithful. Endure to the end. Keep our eyes on JESUS, and ” See Him Who Is Invisible” Col.1:15
Our hunger for him opens up to us all that GOD IS and has for us.( as Bro. Sharp taught )
” Set your affections on things above” Col. 3:1-2 And HE will draw to us, and reveal the need for change in our lives as it states in
v 52 Then ye shall drive of all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:
v53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

And see that disobedience draws evil
v55″ Then it shall come to pass that those which ye let remain of them shall be picks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides. and sha vex you in the land wherein ye dwell”
GOD IS SO GOOD AND MERCIFUL

  8. As the children of Israel are warned, there are some things that displease God that won’t keep you from stepping forward into your promises, but they will cause problems once you get there. We cannot afford to have a survival mentality that says “I only care about if I can get away with it or not.” If we want the fullness of what God desires for us, we must fully follow Him and fully surrender our will so we can walk not just in obedience but in submission. God wants our heart and we should do nothing that would compromise our relationship with Him.

  9. A promise is like a contract, if you sign it and date it, you don’t want to break that contract due to the problems that follow. God is the promise and when we give our souls and hearts to Him, we shouldn’t ever want to break our contract with God. Thank you Jesus, for another chance.

  10. It’s time we look toward the future and see where God wants us. It’s time to quit looking back and see where you have been, we can’t change the past but we could do better in the future. Thankful for a God that is forgiving and loves us.

  11. God ordered Israel to destroy everything that offended God, in our journey to heaven we have to destroy sinful stuff from our lives if we want to cross the Jordan! In Jesus Name!

  12. God brought them out of Egypt. Not for them to go back to Egypt but to begin a new life in him.

He wanted them to throw out all the idols of the new land.

If they listened Egypt couldn’t get back in Israel.

  13. 53And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

When God gives you something, you must take hold of it and run with it. It’s time to grab a hold of the promise God has given us and move forward.

  14. Wow, what a log book! This only makes you think of how our own log book will look like. Where have you been? What have you done? Where do we think you are going? Should you be doing what you are doing? Lord I pray that you always guide me in the direction that you want for my life.

  15. Provide neither gold .or silver, nor brass for your purse.Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats or sandals, nor yet staves. For the workmen is worthy of his meat.Matt:10:9-10. When we truly love God He will supply our needs. When we seek Him first he will open the doors. Jesus said when we pray start like this,”Our Father who is in heaven,Holy is thy name”.

  16. This chapter illustrates revelation. “ But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.” What is there in our lives that we perhaps do not drive out (repent and give to Jesus) that has become a prick in our eye or thorn in our side. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  17. 54And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.

    No option but SUCCESS.

  18. i pray that the Lord doesnt have to take me all through the wilderness like this just to break me of sin and position me for his promise. I pray that the Lord reveals quickly everything that separates me from him so that i may receive his promises.

  19. GOD will give then the land if they do what he tells them, but if they leave some of the people alive he will do to those who did not listen to him what he was going to do to the people who were first in the land.
