Deuteronomy Chapter 10

30 Days of Prayer

Day 30

Pray for great endtime revival, restoration, and harvest, and for saints to pray the Word of God and believe it. Pray the church will enter into the blessings and promises of God by possessing the land: “And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts” (Haggai 2:7)

Deuteronomy 10

1At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

2And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

3And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.

4And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.

5And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

6And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead.

7From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.

8At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

9Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.

10And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.

11And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

12And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

13To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

14Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

15Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

16Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

17For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

18He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

19Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

20Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

21He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

22Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

  1. 14. Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

What a mighty God! He owns it all – what have I to fear?

  2. In this scripture, it clearly indicates God’s love for us, and also what he expects of us. But, as a Choir Member it is an Honor to be apart or to be chosen by God to minister unto him, “The Most High God”, that he even walks with me, talks with me, lives in me. What a Loving Father, and he has promised to be our inheritance, and he chose my fathers to love, and their seed, my children, and their children, and thanks to the Cross of Jesus, and the New Covenant, we even have better promises. Keep the Faith, and hold onto Jesus Christ…..”Our First Love”.

15Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

Thank God he delighted in us, and may we all have a greater appreciation of what he has already given us, and our children.

  3. A God of Second Chances!

v 1 NIV At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. v2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke….

  4. HUMBLE THYSELF

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

The most effective trick that satan uses is deception. In his sly and cunning ways he uses the blessings (gifts, talents, charisma) of God to deceive or persuade individuals that they possess the ability to accomplish whatever they desire, then comes the test of submission. Pride says do it your way, submission says stay under authority unit you are sent to exercise authority.

I am thankful for the clear instruction given us here in verses 16-17. The MSG version reads: “So cut away the thick calluses from your heart and stop being so willfully hardheaded. God, your God, is the God of all gods, he’s the Master of all masters, a God immense and powerful and awesome. He doesn’t play favorites, takes no bribes,”

Pride causes stubbornness, and we must remember that we cannot impress God with talent or ability because it all comes from HIM!

    iPray

  5. NIV 21 He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.

  6. 17For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

It doesn’t matter if you are of great stature or the lowest of the low…God is no respecter of persons, which means that I have been afforded the opportunity to commune with him. And that’s all he really desires, is a relationship with me. I don’t have to bribe God for it, He WANTS it. What a tremendous blessing.

  7. God did all the work of writing the first tablets of stone on which the ten commandments were written, but the second time He made Moses work by hewing out the stones. God still wrote on them, but Moses had to pay a price for his anger. In our lives many times God has provided all we need, but through our lack of control of ourselves (emotionally, physically or spiritually) we have to do more of the “work” to straighten out the mess we got into.

  8. 12And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

His word says that His yoke is not heavy or greivious. The lost often argue that the bible is full of a bunch of “don’t do this” and “thou shalt nots”, When in reality its is not. His word is a instruction book of how to be, how to love Him, and how much He loves us. We just have to read it and have the understanding that the Holy Ghost gives us to see that…

16Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Today we would do ourseves a great favor and do the same. If we thought about others, thought about teaching His word, or sacrificing ourselves to spend more time in prayer and His word, and less time gaming, and on facebook. We must be willing to be obedient to His word and commands. We must have a positive attitude about staying submitted to His authority.

Lord iPray that you find me faithful, and not stiffnecked…

  9. 12And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
14Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
15Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

What does He require that is to hard?
To be chosen of such a great God. What an honor that he would give me a second look much less choose me. Thank you Jesus!

  10. 16Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Stubbornness is as idolatry. When we refuse to move from our own way we become our own God. The cure is to remove the excess. The word of God acts as a scalpel, removing the carnality that holds us from doing God’s will.

  11. The ark was called the ark of the covenant or promise, but the tablets inside we’re called the 10 commandments or divine orders. If we look at the tablets not as orders meant to be followed or punishment will be issued, but as instructions to receive gods promise, they are so much easier to follow

  12. 13To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Moses in this Chapter continues to speak to the Israelites the importance of choosing gods ways to do good. To love God with all their hearts and souls to serve him…

Israelites know they have choices and wants them to praise and worship god and no other gods. They need to keep the faith and not let anything distract them to committ to Jesus ways and choose life everlasting. The commandments once again are the reminder of following and living a holy life and to walk with god for their own good.

  13. v 11 And the LORD said unto me.
Arise, take thy journey before the before, that they may go in and posses the land, which. I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

Time and time again Moses had to remind the people of their promise land.
They must not become weary of Truth and His Truth cannot be repeated enough.
Get up Arise! We also have a promise land
    An eternal life with JESUS
Thank GOD for our Moses in our lives. That teaches us GOD’S Word because if we don’t hear GOD’S preached our faith will leave us.
We also must not become weary nor bored when we are reminded of our Great GOD
HE is our Praise and we are to love Him and each other, forgive, be faithful , obedient , submissive to authority , and humble.
“HE must increase i must decrease”
The more of JESUS you have the lesser
    of ego.

  14. 13 And you must always obey the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good. New Living Translation

  15. Energy of the Heart
    Dt 10:12-13

Once again Moses emphasizes that the whole law is summed up in loving God wholeheartedly. Moses repeatedly cautions the Israelites about where they spend there passion or energy of their hearts. The Isrealites have already demonstrated how quickly their passion for God can be twsted and turned for a mere golden calf (veil). Their hearts are still divided- not given wholly to God. When we give ourselves (unveil), heart and soul, wholly to God, there is no “heart” left over for twisting and turning- all our being is turned, passionately, to love for God.

2 Cor 4 Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. 5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflecta the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

  16. 18He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
19Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

My coworker and I were talking about this very thing today. As the song goes,” We live , we love, we forgive and never giveup,…” My question is do we really Love the way God loves us? Do we take care of the fatherless and the widow? Do we stop and get some food to the homeless on the street ,or do we just pass them by because they are an embarasment to society?

  17. NIV 12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

The greatest commandment! Having a relationship with God, everything else will naturally fall into place.

  18. This chapter illustrates fulfillment. “Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.” God told Abraham he would multiply him, which he most assuredly did fulfill his Word. Therefore all can rest assured that all of God’s Word will be fulfilled. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  19. God required the Israelites to fear him, to walk in his ways, to love and serve him with all of their heart and soul, to keep his commandments and statutes.

We have been ingrafted in. As the adopted children, God requires the same thing from us. So, let us love and follow after God with everything we have in us.

  20. If anyone ever wondered how to live a good life filled with blessings vs 12 & 13 is very plain and simple

12-13 So now Israel, what do you think GOD expects from you? Just this: Live in his presence in holy reverence, follow the road he sets out for you, love him, serve GOD,your God, with everything you have in you, obey the commandments and regulations of GOD that I’m commanding you today—live a good life. MSG

  21. 12And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

    HE STILL REQUIRES THE SAME

  22. Love a stranger; give food and raiment to someone. God has always had a heart for strangers. Let’s be like God not like stiff necked children of Israel.

  23. Love the Lord with all your heart. This means with all your being or with all that you are. You must first love God before you can love yourself or anyone else.

  24. 12And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever. He still requires the same: fear Him, walk in His ways, love Him, serve Him with all thy heart and all thy soul, keep His commandments. In order to do this sometimes we must circumcise our heart to cut away the distractions and habits of the daily routines of life that take away time from our relationship with Him.

  25. Verses 12-13 in the NLT read….”And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the LORD your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.”

The key word in verse 13 is “always”! Not only, when we feel like it or when things are going good; but, “always”…no matter what obey the Lord’s commands and decrees!

  26. V1 “At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.”

Sometimes things don’t go how we imagined and we end up with some broken things in the process. God in His mercy calls us to get back up and get back on track, almost like hitting reset to loop us back around to the place on the path He wants us going forward from.

V2 “And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.”

The original things may never be restored (I heard a preacher describe it something like “you can’t undo it once you got your eggs scrambled”) but God can write things over and place in our hands what we need to replace what was lost. The Word of God will always remain, it will not be lost even if the medium upon which it was written gets damaged or destroyed.

  27. 16Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

We must cut away those things that are not like God and reach for those things that are holy.
