Joshua 7

1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

2And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

3And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

4So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

5And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

6And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

7And Joshua said, Alas, O LORD God, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

8O LORD, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

10And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

11Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

13Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

14In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.

15And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

16So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

17And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:

18And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

19And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

20And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

21When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

22So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

23And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.

24And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

25And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

26And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

  1. Destory your enemy before he destorys you

Vs 1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

Sin causes us to hold back our praise (Judah). Sin also destroys our praise. And to completely and whole heartily be repented of our sin. We must remove and destroy it. I’m sure it must have been difficult to kill a man and all that was connected to him after fight along side him and bonding with him. But it was a decision that couldn’t be sacrificed. We must please our flesh by giving in to the thought or “feeling” of that’s too harsh. We must remove and destory the sin in our lives no matter how our flesh feels. Sin has no compassion for us. It’s mission is to steal, kill and destory Jn. 10:10. What’s our mission? We must – Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thes 5:22 We must be Christ-like

  2. Always Consult God 1st

3And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

Joshua did not consult God before going up to Ai. All the while sin is in the camp. Pride can get the best of us and we think we can do it on our own, truth was God didn’t go before them because He was never consulted. So many men and women in Scripture have fallen after a great victory.Elijah had an amazing victory taking down false prophets everywhere, one insult from Jezebel and he was running off discouraged (1Ki 19:1-3). This reminds me of David (1 Ch13:2; 21:1)..because after a great victory flesh starts to want to relax, and sometimes we let down our gaurd. We can begin to think we know the Lords will without consulting Him, this is a guess and can be our will at hand. This is where the enemy strategically launches a missle into our breach in fortress. Confusion and discouragment is in the missile, just like the one Jezebel launched at Elijah, is like how Joshua was crying out to God all discouraged and upset about the defeat of Ai, when all along it was us who messed up. What a great God He is, whenever we get all confused and don’t understand he is right their ready for us to reach out to Him about our mess.

The daily buisness of life lead to a false sense of security, like Jericho’s walls. You’re busy, your doing good things, so you think you are following God’s will. But if you haven’t actually consulted Him, you can miss doing God’s will (Heb10:36). Those who follow God’s will discover the truth of his promise: “Iwill lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.” (Isa 42:16; 58:11)

  3. “The Fear of the Lord”

12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

***HOW COULD ISRAEL WIN A HUGE BATTLE THEN LOSE AN EASY ONE?

    LETS OPEN OUR SPIRITURAL EYES…

    ***At Jericho***

Remember the Captain of the Lord’s Host had his sword drawn ready to fight at Jericho. He wasn’t there alone but the entire host of warrior angels were with him.

    ***AT THE BATTLE OF AI***

The Captain of the Lords Host’s hands were tied behind his back during this battle. He couldnt help because of the sin and disobedience(LADIES, THAT IS WHY YOUR HAIR IS IMPORTANT…”BECAUSE OF THE ANGELS” 1 CORINTHIANS 11:10)

Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Achan troubled the camp of the Lord. ACHAN DID NOT FEAR THE LORD. To FEAR the LORD is not just a thought or idea, but to fear the Lord is a heart issue that manifests itself in every day actions.

*Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

*Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

***Achan means the following in Hebrew:H5912(Strong’s)
    עכן
    ‛âkân
    aw-kawn’
From an unused root meaning to trouble; troublesome; Akan, an Israelite: – Achan. Compare H5917.

WE ARE GONNA HAVE “TROUBLE” IF WE DO NOT START FEARING THE LORD.

    • Hosea 2:15
And I will give her her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

    • How could the loose an easy battle? They were also going on their own power, under estimated the enemy & their sin made them fear for they couldn’t stand in the confidence of God’s Power.

      • By the way Women there is a lot of power on the uncut hair, not only the angels stay around, but several times I cover my children with my hair in prayer & fell the presence of our Lord so strong that you can feel virtue flow.

  4. v. 21

“WHEN I SAW…I COVETED… AND TOOK ” The story of Achan provides a vivid illustration of James 1:14,15 “but each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived,it gives birth to SIN , when it si full-grown, brings forth death.”

  5. 6 then Joshua tore his clothes and fell face down to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there till the evening.
—- he did no waited any longer,he fell on his, didn’t. Care how long it was going to take….
PRAYER before always,or prayer after something ….
GOD is a good loving God,merciful, and kind, but he is not going to be a “willing party”to us…20— Achan replied”it is true” I have sinned against The Lord, The God of Israel.
    Psalm 25.8
    Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
    Psalm25.10
All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant.

God, I do not want to be a rebel, I ask you Lord to search me every single day, help me to walk in you ways, help me to obey your word, and don’t. Let my eyes be attract by the things of this world…give us what we need only….
    In Jesus name…..

  6. Sort Through Your Stuff

…they have put it even among their own stuff.

Cool clothes (worldy garment), wealth (gold, silver) and greed got the best of Achan! He knew these things were accursed, however, he still shut out the voice of the man of God (Joshua) and took the things which he knew he ought not have taken. He rejected the word! These things caused the whole house of Israel to fall back into a sinful state because of one man’s disobedience.

Can you imagine the judgement of God if Achan would not have confessed his sin? How many battles would have been lost? How many more men would have died? These are all questions I’d rather not know the answer to.

Let’s take a lesson from Achan and make sure that there are no accursed things in our own stuff. Anything hidden in your life? Anything you wouldn’t want “those church people” to see? Most importantly, that you wouldn’t want God to see?

    God sees it all…

Nothing is hidden from his eye. Sort through your stuff and make sure that your house is in order and that your house would bring blessing and not cursing to the body of Christ.

  7. Being in one accord is powerful, also having one that is not is powerful as we see in this chapter. Becareful who labour among you for their sins will bring death not only to them but a part of you too. We sould daily examin our relationship with the Lord and cast out anything that is not Godly. This is another illustration of how daily repentance is so important! Lord grant me this day a new repentance from the deapest part of my heart that I have no hidden sin left unturned. Guide me father this day that you will lead me on paths of rightousness and unto greater understanding of your living word. Father help me to see thru your eyes as I accept the challanges of the day. Lord keep me and blees me this day. In Jesus Name Amen

  8. Who Do You Serve

21When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

We cannot allow the desires of the flesh to influence our level of commitment to the Lord. We must DO as the word tells us.

6And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

Unlike Achan, Joshua served the Lord. When Joshua realized there was something wrong, he went straight to the Lord. After It was revealed who has sinned, Joshua and all Israeal obeyed the word of the Lord, and Israeal prospered.
We too must obey, and not deviate from the instruction that God has given us…

  9. 1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

We cannot allow ourselves to be so ignorant of the Word of God. If he says not to do something or you will be accursed then don’t do it for his word is true. He cannot lie nor will he choose to have favour on one and not the other. Achan not only cursed his own life but his family, livestock, belongings and all the people of Israel. He caused the death of 36 innocent men, his whole family and livestock. How much more should we be aware of the decisions made in our life today? Who are we causing around us to have eternal damnation and not life with Christ? Who are we cursing with our compromising and attitude that we can get away with doing it our own way and not the way of our father? If we say we love our children, family and the people of God then why make the choices in life that would curse them as well? Living a life that is pleasing unto God is living a life of blessings and eternal life with Christ.

  10. It shows that no matter how hard we try and hide our sins from man God knows and that when we sin we don’t know how far out it will reach. I imagine when Achan took this to satisfy his carnel desires he did not think of it harming anyone else, but it destroyed everyone in his family. If we sin today you may think all I am hurting is myself but you don’t know how far it will reach and who it will destroy.

  11. 3 And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

4 So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

First they didn’t consult it with God. They looked at the problem and said to themselves, is okay God we can handle this one all by ourselves. Second, they didn’t self evaluate themselves before the battle, they didn’t look inside of themselves to see if everything was okay with their spirit. Was there any sin, or garbage that need it to come out. And thirdly, the enemy smote them on the way down. Pick yourselves up don’t let the enemy get you down. You did something wrong, repent right away don’t waste time, then pick yourself up & go into battle.

6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

  12. 3 And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

4 So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

They did not go to fight the enemy together as one body, and were defeated. We must work together and have unity against our enemies. We are all one body, and need each other to win!

  13. This chapter reminds us that God sees everything, knows everything and you can’t hide from him. You can’t hide or cover up your sins, they will eventually come out! We must repent and live holy before the Lord. Sins do not just affect the person; but, families, communities, churches, etc. The same goes with one living a holy life, it can have an effect on others!

  14. There are many things that can be taken from this chapter but I think one of the most important is lack of commitment. God didnt tell joshua not to commit the entire army to battle that was a choice the people made. I know their was sin in the camp but if they had commited the whole army and not just a portion things may have turned ought differently. Always commit everything and not just a piece.

  15. BOUND BY REBELLION AND DISOBEDIENCE

19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
20 And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

It was strange that Achan, being conscious to himself of guilt, had not either the wit to make an escape or the grace to make a confession; but his heart was hardened through the deceitfulness of sin, and it proved to be to his own destruction. Imagine how his countenance changed, and what horror and confusion seized him when he was singled out as the delinquent, when the eyes of all Israel were fastened upon him, and every one was ready to say, Have we found thee, O our enemy? The folly of those that promise themselves secrecy in sin: the righteous God has many ways of bringing to light the hidden works of darkness, and so bringing to shame and ruin those that continue their fellowship with those unfruitful works

So how did Joshua know it was Achan? The scripture reference we have to give us indication and direction to understand how the man of God would know is found by a prior encounter of how God knew when sin was present.

*****GENESIS 6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

Disrespect, disobedience or sin towards GOD will cause anger and a FALLEN COUNTENANCE or absence of JOY and PEACE.

The HEBREW word for Glory in Joshua 7:19 is kabowd #3519 and is found 200 times in the Old Testament including:

Psalm 66:2 Sing forth the honour3519 of his name: make his praise glorious3519.

Giving GOD Glory is very closely associated with how we PRAISE HIM.

  16. In this scripture, it surely indicates the importance of repentance. Make sure we keep from the accursed things. Thank God for G.R.A.C.E. “God’s Riches At Christ Expense”. You can see the cost of sin. Daily repentance is important, it ensures readiness for whenever
    Jesus comes for his Church/Bride.

    “Be Church”…irepent…Mark A. Ridenour…

  17. The first thing we see after the children of Israel pass into their promised land, is they come to the city of Jericho, where there is much abundance. So much so that they are instructed to bring all “into the treasury of the Lord.” Yet, we find that while living in the land of bounty, temptation has come to Achan and he has taken some of that treasury, not only could he no longer fulfill his God given purpose to praise and glorifiy the Lord, but his disobediencet cost him his life, and the life of his family.

This reminds of of tithing. Many can be obedient in the small things, but when the blessings of God are being poured out, then they become selfish and keep back that which is not theirs. This is disobedience and rebellion, and #1 they cannot praise the Lord like they should because there is sin in their life, but it also produces a curse over their entire family and things begin to happen to the entire family. This is a trickle down effect that effects the entire church as well because if there is sin and disobedience in the body of Christ, then we are not unified and then we are not able to conquer the enemy in areas that God desire to give us dominion over.

We must measure every action and reaction by the word of God. Because our actions effect others, not just ourselves. The word of God is sure, “sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.” Nothing of this world is worth losing my soul and the souls of my family over.

  18. Different Approach

7 And Joshua said, Alas, O LORD God, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!
8 O LORD, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!
9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

Why is it that when things start going wrong 1. We blame and question God 2. Revert back to our comfort zone. 3. We forget the Word the has spoken and believe the whispers and lies of the enemy that we are defeated and doomed.
My prayer is that we would 1. Humbly pray 2. Press our way into His presence no matter how uncomfortable it might be. 3. Turn our back to the enemy and lies. And then we will remember His promises. We will then have a different view and attitude. (2 Chron 7:14)

5And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

    ***Key focus***
“The Hearts of the people melted and became as water”

This scripture reminds me of another one found in the Book of Genesis

Genesis49:3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: 4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

The Children of Israel should have easily defeated AI, but sin made them unstable.

***AN EXAMPLE OF THE ACCURSED THING THAT WILL MAKE US, THE CHIDREN OF GOD, UNSTABLE…

    *WORLDLY MUSIC*
If “praise shuts the devil’s mouth, what does listening to his music do??? OPENS HIS MOUTH.

Let us remove the accursed thing from our iPods, iPhones, iPads, and iHearts, and replace it with… iPraise.

  20. 7And Joshua said, Alas, O LORD God, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

Right relationship, faith, and trust in God will cause us to look beyond the natural into the supernatural. Joshua was quick to give up and in his mind wanted to go back across Jordan.

Jericho, the main military walled city was just crushed by the power of almighty God, and Joshua forgot the testimony.

God’s power was evident, and the testimony of Jericho was sure, but sin prevented the victory.

We must never succumb to the danger of thinking we can take on anything even if our actions are compromised.

As we will see A.I. was taken once the accursed thing was removed.

  21. God required a blood sacrafice and Achan had to die for his trepass. Thank God he intereceded for our trespasses that we might be saved.

  22. HIDE & SEEK, we all love to play this game. There is nothing better than trying to keep the seeker from finding you. In our case, our sins. The Lord is our seeker, and he knows what you are hiding from others. The game ends when you are found. With God, your sins brings forth death!! Our spiritual life is not a game to be playing with….

  23. v13 Up, sanctify the people, and say Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: For thus saith the LORD GOD of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

The man of GOD warned the people in chapter 6. To stay away from the things that were accursed. Don’t steal what belongs to the LORD. ( like tithes ) Pray every day and repent of every sin. Turn away leave it alone.
Disobedience and sin brings the wrath of GOD because it breaks relationship with HIM.
Then comes trouble, shame, pain, and death.
It’s always dark and fearful when there is disobedience. It’s like a domino affect one bad thing after another.
Thank GOD there is a place in GOD we can live sanctified by HIS Spirit that crucifies the flesh.
The apostle Paul says..”I die everyday by the grace of GOD”. Only through death( spiritually speaking) can we be made alive.
Praise GOD that HE came from above for dead folks. To those who die out to self
    iPray
    iObey
    iRepent
    iDie to self

  24. Sometimes we try to do things on our own but that never gets us anywhere except hardship and turmoil
I always like to pray every morning when I wake up and when I go to sleep at night. I may have problems with neighbors or people that I know but if I leave it to the Lord and give it all to Him He always takes care of the situation for me

Thank you Lord for this cause I don’t like confrontation. He is my King and my Lord who takes care of all our needs
    I love you Jesus

  25. Get Up And Try Again
    Part 2
v10 And the LORD said unto Joshua
( make it personal put your name there)
    The LORD Is Speaking.
Get thee up; wherefore list thou thus upon thy face?
Don’t let down after a Glorious Victory, Healings, and Deliverance.
Anything or any person that seperates us from a relationship, faith, worshipping, and praising Our GOD is an idol to us, which is a sin.

When we think we have got it made in the shade that’s when we enter a dangerous time in our life. Its in the aftermath of victory.
Throughout the Bible history repeats itself.
For example : Noah after the victory of the flood. A man of faith and righteousness was found drunk and in his birthday suit.

Gideon- A man of valor. After the victory
Worship the ephod instead of the deliverer
    JESUS!

Elijah- who prayed send down the fire.
Would to GOD the church across the world would pray like that. What A Victory!
Elijah’s after math was Jeze’s letter
    LORD let me die.

And the blessed nation of Israel my GOD the saw victory after victory miracle after miracle they had seen them.
After the victory they would break relationship with GOD, and worship idols like the brass
serpent instead of the healer JESUS!
I’m glad we believe in miracles and the miracle worker JESUS!
HE deserves all our worship, so get up and try again and get your PRAISE ON

  26. OMG, wow what power is in the word. as i read this i thought about the times that God removed something from me that i thought was good and that i thought i wanted in my life, but God showed me in a dream what i would have to endure if i allowed it to stay in my life, He showed me that it wasnt meant to be because it wasnt of Him. in this chapter God told Joshua what to do and what to tell the people and because God knows all, He knew someone didnt obey the words that was spoken. i thank God that He gave me another chance to seek His Love and not destroy me and my family

  27. Prescription for Depression: Get up!

V 10 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

There will be times in the life of the Christian that seem overwhelming and disappointing. Things that we may not understand fully. However, it is not time to lie down but time to stand up and seek direction from God. One thing about the physical body: it grows weak after laying down for long periods. Seems the same in the spiritual body since the command was to get up and get on with what God has set forth to be accomplished.

  28. Achan sinned but he also repented.Moses probably would have petitioned God to be merciful even if God chose not to. You can not show true repentance for your sins if you are dead. Buit Now we have the flip side. Israel thought the battle would be a piece of cake.Don’t send everyone ,not much of a fight here. But when God left the scene because of sin in the camp they got a whooping! 36 men died in the battle and they fell back in fear. A life for a life,so the whole family was stoned. No matter how you feel about capital punishment, God is always right!

  29. There were two other scriptures that came to my mind while reading this chapter.

Numbers 32:23, “…and be sure your sin will find you out.” and Luke 12:2, “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.”

We serve an all knowing and seeing God. There is nothing hidden from him.

  30. be assured that your sins will find you out when achons sins were found it not only destroyed him but everything that was his even his tent . his whole family and his property was know longer. you can hide things from man but not from God and he is the only one that matters .we need the man of God in our life he is crushale to our walk with God but he cant save use only God can.

  31. The enemy will try anything to destroy you….the devil may think he’s found your weakness and has you in the corner but we need to remember that we have God on our side and when we are weak he is strong. Keep the faith high and continue reading.

  32. Sometimes its easyer to hide things from the church, thinking because the church can not see means God can not see but thats wrong God sees and hears everything. every word and ever action.

what will you do with a messup? go on with life or pray to God, asking God for forgiveness?

  33. 13

Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

Got to get red off the no good stuff in your life to conquer your enimies

  34. This chapter illustrates secret sin. The price of Achan’s secret sin cost him and his family everything. We must be careful for there are no secret sins, for God sees all and the price will be great. May the good Lord bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  35. It’s impossible to hide anything from the eyes of God. God is omnipresent, can hear all and see all. Whenever you think you’ve gotten away with something, God already knows. If we would live our lifes knowing that God is always watching, we would not want to do anything wrong, so we would strive to do what’s right.

  36. iBlog supper

12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

STAND UP CHILDREN OF GOD. GET THE ACCURSED THING OUT

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.1

  37. Wow ! God shows in this chapter that he blesses those that obey him for those that do not judgement lieth at the door

  38. 24And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

One small thought. THe wages of sin is death, but the gife of God is eternal Life though Jesus Christ our Lord.

  39. 19And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

  40. V.11 Israel hath sinned, and they jave also transgressed my covenant which i commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. As we can see that sin doens’t only have it’s consequences on self- but the entire family, children, generations to come and also the body of Christ. It prevents the body from moving forward in the path that God has already prepared for us. The bible says that the wages of sin is death, it also says that the love of money is the root of all evil. We need to remember that nothing is hidden the eyes of God, every thing comes to light. Just like in the book of Acts ch.5 God destroyed Annanias and Sapphari, just like it can happen to anyone today. Satan had filled their hearts to lie. God desires for us to be Obedient to His Word, and Obedience comes when we truly seek to have a true relationship with our Lord.

  41. Our sin costs us more than we often realize. Achan’s sin cost him not just his life but those around him and it was noted that the trespass fell upon all Israel, not just him, and lives were lost in a futile initial attack against Ai due to the curse brought upon Israel. It reveals the selfishness of sin and our need for that renewing of our minds that we might not become stagnant and slip backward but be ever growing in our walk with God.

  42. Achan’s sin

7: 1-26 He stole the riches of Canaan from the Lord, and so lost his inheritance in the promised land . This is also a story of how one man’s sin adversely affected the entire nation. Throughout this account Israel is considered a corporate unity in covenant with and in the service of the Lord.
Even in the acts of one(Achan) or a few (the 3,000 defeated at Ai) all Israel is involved.

  43. When things don’t seem to be going our way we often fall on our faces before GOD like Joshua. He wanted pitty and compassion. What he did not realize was that someone was not honest with him and GOD. When we are dishonost with GOD, HE knows. He knows our thoughts, motives, and actions. HE is able to tell us when we have done wrong and need to repent. Like Joshua we have to listen to GOD and then follow through with ridding ourselves of the wrong that is in our lives before we can go on and conquor our lands.

  44. verse 24 MSG Joshua took Achan son of Zerah, took the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his ox, donkey, sheep, and tent-everything connected to him. All Israel was there. They led them off to the valley of Achor( trouble Valley). 25: Joshua said, ” Why have you troubled us? Today!”And all Israel stoned him-burned him with fire and stoned him with stones. his disobedience cost him everything including his family. Harsh but Just.

  45. Verse 12 speaks out to me the most… I’m afraid and my heart hurts for those who fall under the curse but because of the Lords word we must follow what he says even if it hurts and not be apart of them. They chose their path with full warning and to ignore that is nothing short of ignorance. I pray that I never get so blinded that I do not hasten and trust the words of God.

  46. In this chapter vs.
6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
In vs. 6 where Joshua rent his clothes, meaning tearing/tore his clothes off and then fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until eventide, was a bit misunderstanding at first knowing we here in the world today would have been thrown into jail for exposing ourselves. Then put dust upon their heads some people would have us admitted in a crazy hospital if they saw us doing that…
