Joshua 19

1And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

2And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, and Sheba, and Moladah,

3And Hazarshual, and Balah, and Azem,

4And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,

5And Ziklag, and Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusah,

6And Bethlebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages:

7Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages:

8And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalathbeer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.

9Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

10And the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun according to their families: and the border of their inheritance was unto Sarid:

11And their border went up toward the sea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam;

12And turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrising unto the border of Chislothtabor, and then goeth out to Daberath, and goeth up to Japhia,

13And from thence passeth on along on the east to Gittahhepher, to Ittahkazin, and goeth out to Remmonmethoar to Neah;

14And the border compasseth it on the north side to Hannathon: and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of Jiphthahel:

15And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages.

16This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.

17And the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families.

18And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,

19And Haphraim, and Shihon, and Anaharath,

20And Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez,

21And Remeth, and Engannim, and Enhaddah, and Bethpazzez;

22And the coast reacheth to Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Bethshemesh; and the outgoings of their border were at Jordan: sixteen cities with their villages.

23This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.

24And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families.

25And their border was Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph,

26And Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and reacheth to Carmel westward, and to Shihorlibnath;

27And turneth toward the sunrising to Bethdagon, and reacheth to Zebulun, and to the valley of Jiphthahel toward the north side of Bethemek, and Neiel, and goeth out to Cabul on the left hand,

28And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon;

29And then the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib:

30Ummah also, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty and two cities with their villages.

31This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.

32The sixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, even for the children of Naphtali according to their families.

33And their coast was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakum; and the outgoings thereof were at Jordan:

34And then the coast turneth westward to Aznothtabor, and goeth out from thence to Hukkok, and reacheth to Zebulun on the south side, and reacheth to Asher on the west side, and to Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrising.

35And the fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth,

36And Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor,

37And Kedesh, and Edrei, and Enhazor,

38And Iron, and Migdalel, Horem, and Bethanath, and Bethshemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.

39This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Naphtali according to their families, the cities and their villages.

40And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families.

41And the coast of their inheritance was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Irshemesh,

42And Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah,

43And Elon, and Thimnathah, and Ekron,

44And Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath,

45And Jehud, and Beneberak, and Gathrimmon,

46And Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho.

47And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

48This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.

49When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:

50According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.

51These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

  1. 49 When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:

Pastor has said it so many times “Leaders surrender privileges”
How many times has Pastor and Sis Watts preferred us (POFW) before themselves? To God be all Glory! Thank you Jesus for great leadership that flows down to the congregation.

  2. I always like writing on the blog it helps me see what God is telling me in the scriptures. I believe that today’s blog tells me that >when God gives an inheritance or a blessing appreciate it cause we never know what God is up to. This Scripture tells me that when we receive something from the Lord hang on to it. And if we don’t just know that He loves us and wants to bless us with a inheritance ..or or bring our promises to light
I love the Lord and even though He’s the ultimate giver I can try to give as much as he does. I got a CD from church that the Lord wanted me to get for my new neighbors and share the Gospel with and by obeying Him, I got home and my husband had a box full of crosses and put up all over the house. What an inheritance in the name of Jesus! God used the neighbor to bless us with a whole house full of Jesus “on the cross…on the precious cross. ” thank you Jesus for showing me how to give not what but how
love you forever my King and Savior.

1And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

if you look at a map at where the Children of Israel settled, you will notice that Simeon settled right in the middle of Judah.

    SIMEON H8095
    שׁמעון
    shim‛ôn
    shim-one’
From H8085; hearing; Shimon, one of Jacob’s sons, also the tribe descendant from him: – Simeon.

    Simeon means “to hear”.
    Judah means “praise”

Praise is so important in our lives…When we praise the Lord, the Lord will open our understanding so we will be able to “hear” what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

The Opposite of PRAISE is worldly music…
It causes our spiritual ears to close and be unable to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

Matthew 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear

    • That’s good teaching! The devil has tried
to even get GOD to worship him.
Bro. Morgan you hit right . The devil wants our worship so bad that one of these days the mark of the beast will be here and it will be forced on people to worship him.
Pray against worldly music don’t compromise. Obey and worship GOD from your heart

  4. vs 47 The children of Dan enlarged their coast. We must continue to “work” and enlarge the coast of the Kingdom of God in Fort Worth.

  5. 9Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

When we position ourselves as the tribe of Simeon did, inside the midst of praise, we stay in His prescense, because the word tells us that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. That means He lives in the praises of His people… But first we have to be His people, and second we haev to be praising Him.

  6. And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them…

Sometimes we settle for too little. This is a poverty mantality that we pray against every morning. We are not worthy of a bigger blessing but we deserve it because of the blood of Jesus. Let us not settle for “good enough” anymore. Let’s go get our real inheritance.

  7. SERVANTHOOD DEFINED/THE LORD TAKES CARE OF HIS OWN

49 When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:
50 According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.
51 These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

After all of the challenges, charging, leading in battle. Joshua now finds himself at the fulfillment of possessing the land that GOD promised to his fathers.

Not 1 time did Joshua complain or worry about where was his place going to be, what would his inheritance be, or the infamous “Whats in it for me”!

Joshua was a SERVANT of the LORD and therefore SERVED the LORD’s people. With a promise from the LORD that the LORD would provide his inheritance.

A SERVANT is one that puts others before himself. This is what Joshua defined for us.

    1. He served his Elders – He served Moses with hands on even through Moses frailties and faults. While his generation died off in the wilderness.

    2. He served his peers – He fought alongside and led them to their promised inheritance after leading them through the journey of the wilderness. Also ensuring they had taken their possession of promised land.

    3. He served his Future – He obeyed the voice of the LORD and established a testimony for his children’s children.

Leadership is lonely and challenging at times, TRUE SERVANTS know that GOD will take care of them and they need not beg or seek pity or handouts, but sacrifice without complaining.

LORD JESUS help me today in JESUS name.

    iPray
    iWork
    iServe

  8. 1 Peter 1v3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptable and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.

2 Corinthians 1v20 For all the promises of God in Him are YES…….

Thank you Jesus for the shedding of blood that provided my inheritance.

  9. There were several good reasons for establishing these well-set boundaries instead of turning the promised land into a single undivided nation.

1)The boundaries gave each tribe ownership of an area, promoting loyalty and unity that would strengthen each tribe.

2)The boundaries delineated areas of responsibility and privilege, which would help each tribe develop and mature.

3)The boundaries reduced conflict that might have broken out if everyone had wanted to live in the choicest areas

4)The boundaries fulfilled the promised inheritance to each tribe that began to be given as early as the days of Jacob.

  10. 47And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

Our growth in the last 9 years is no coincidence but every army must grow in numbers, in strength, & in spirit ( in the military we call it morale). The Morale is very important in the military, we are realistic but we are not allowed to speak negative over the results. Is the same in God’s Army, God does not like nor allows negative reports. We are growing & the space is limited it is time church to put the armor of God on, hold to our sword which is the Word of God, and go expand the inheritance!!!!

    Joshua’s abundance

    Timnath 08556
    תִּמְנַת חֶרֶס Timnath

  12. Vs. 51, ” These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.”

As I read this chapter and came to the end of it, I could only imagine how the children of Israel felt. After all the persecution in Egypt, and the struggles and tests through the wilderrness, they finally got to claim their inheritance and live in their promise. Oh, what joy they must have felt.

We, too, have a promise from God. This life is full of struggles and tests, but if we stay faithful and continue on in our walk with the Lord, we will one day claim our inheritance and live in our promise. And Oh, what JOY that awaits us.

  13. In this scripture, it is clear that God is into Real Estate/Rewards/Inheritance…setting borders, and did you see the inheritance Judah got? Wow! TOO MUCH FOR THEM!

    “BE CHURCH” iinherit too….Mark A.Ridenour…..Amen.

  14. v49-50 When they hadade an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them :
    50. According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked , evenTimnath serah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.

I’m reminded of the story about the turtle
How did the turtle get on top of the fence post?
Answer ; Some one had to help him up there.

I thank GOD and our great leadership.
Never forget who helped you get where you’re at spiritually .
They make us look good everywhere they go 🙂
Most of all with GOD’S help and our great leadership . They will help HIS Bride to get ready to dwell in that holy city where we will walk the streets of gold with JESUS
I’m so grateful. Thank you, Sweet JESUS!!!

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from GOD out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
    Rev.21:2

    • 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Beautiful- Strong’s Definition: From G5610; belonging to the right hour or season (timely), that is, (by implication) flourishing (beauteous [figuratively]): -beautiful.

  15. Jos 19:1,9
This passage address the issue of fairness in the distribution of land for the tribes of Israel. God gives the people land, but he also calls them to fight for it. This promised and holy land is inhabited with people who are not ready to pack their things and leave. The land is won mile by mile and city by city through a campaign of military battles.
Simeon’s inheritance falls entirely within the boundaries of Judah. Whats going on here? Doesn’t God give each tribe a portion of the land? Yes, each tribe has it’s own allotment. Yet Judah goes in and takes their land with a fury! Their invasion spreads beyond the area designated for them and into Simeon’s territory. Judah ends up with more land than they need. Simeon teams up with Judah and takes a part of that land so that both tribes have their inheritance and both tribes have enough land.

  16. 47 And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

Just like the woman in 2 Kings 4:8-9 she worked to make room for the miraculous. So did the children of Dan.

Fighting & Making room = work

How hard persist will we work for our future?

    iwork &
    iprepare for my future

  17. Lots are small stones of unknown size and shape that were used to divine the will of God. A lot casted displayed their belief that God would speak to them from the outcome of the stones.

Imagine the faith that was required to trust the leadership and God for your portion of land. God knew what he was doing as each lot fell.

  18. Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the
part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

Judah’s inheritance was too much for them! Praise allowed for a blessing beyond what they could handle so they had to share it! No one can out give God! And He inhabits the praise of His people! Let’s praise Him in the storm and in time of blessing, and when He pours out the blessing we will have to share!

  19. These past chapters that have spoken of the dividing of the inheritance has made my mind think of the parable of the talents. Each tribe did not know which land they were going to get from Joshua, but whatever they were given, then took the responsibility for it and made it work for them. Even Dan that did not receive “enough” took the Initiative to take fight against Leshem and take that land as well.

God has given each of His disciples at POFW talents and abilities, some we may have prayed for some He just gave us because He saw what was in us. If we will all work together, being accountable unto God for what He has given us, and put it to work for the Kingdom, there is nothing that we cannot accomplish!

  20. 51These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

  21. 1And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

By giving Simeon land in the southern section of the inheritance of Judah, God began the fulfillment of Jacob’s curse with respect to Simeon.

  22. God had already promised Joshua the land in which he had asked for and the children of Israel was obedient and gave it to Joshua, but what i didnt read was how the other tribes knew what land would be given to them. i did see where the tribe of Nun didnt have enough and the fought and took more land. I may not can do some things too good but the talents that i know God has given to me i will put to work and do it the best that i can. i feel that we all should use what God has given us to the best of our ability. wow what a difference we can make.

  23. (NKJV) 50 According to the word of the Lord they gave him the city which he asked for. . . .

God gave POFW the city of Fort Worth, so that we can reach out to lost souls!

  24. This chapter illustrates aid. Although the remaining tribes needed assistance in choosing their inheritance, God held true to his promise. Although we may need assistance at times one can rest assured, God will hold true to his Word. May the good Lord bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  25. 50According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.
they asked for the city and the Lord gave it to them.

  26. 49When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:

50According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.

After all the many years of serving Isael and making sure they received their inheritnaces, Joshua finally received his reward-however, he had to build this city that he wanted to dwell in. Receiving his reward didn’t mean he got to stop working-he stopped for the Nation andwas able to build his own home!!

  27. It was a Jesus story. Michael
They were splitting them up into groups for them all to have a place to live. Anna
    I love you Jesus. Sayler
    Jesus loves me. Joseph

47And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father

When the children of Dan finally got there promise it was too little so they has to go get more land. Maybe GOd intended there land to be too small so they would have to fight to get what was promised to them. After they fought and killed the others who were in the land before them they gave great honor to their father by naming their new lands after him.

I also find interesting that they cast lots for their Plot of land. I know this method was used several times in the Bible, but it makes me think of the crusifiction when they cast lots for HIS clothing. –interesting

    • I agree! Sometimes God positions us so that we must rise up and meet a challenge to claim our inheritance. Having that challenge can stir up passion and reveal how much fight we really have in us. What costs us much usually will mean much to us in the end; there can be great blessing found through a struggle.

    “Return the Favor My Brother”

9Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

    CHECK OUT THIS THOUGHT

Judah had an abundance…TOO MUCH…So they called their Brothers and gave them some of their inheritance, right in the middle of their land.

Well once again Simeon means HEAR…

LETS FAST FORWARD A FEW THOUSAND YEARS…

Once again Simeon was about to hear the sound of abundance, and this would cause a great blessing insomuch as it almost killed him…But this time he would be the one who was sharing…

    So what did he do???

(Luke 5:3 KJV) And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

(Luke 5:4 KJV) Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

(Luke 5:5 KJV) And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

(Luke 5:6 KJV) And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

(Luke 5:7 KJV) And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

****Simon Peter’s name says it all…Ancestor of the Tribe of Simeon…*****(look it up)

The Same is true with the tribe of POFW…We will have such an abundance that if daughter works do not go out to help wth the great possession…the great possession will cause us to sink.

  29. Verse 47 shows us that the people of God were not satisfied with just a portion of their blessing they wanted all that God had for them so they fought for it and they possed it. If we want all God has for us sometimes its gonna take some spiritual warfare. But in the end we shall win because we are in the army of The Lord!

  30. 47And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

God blesses those that obey, what an example I see here. Nothing is impossible through God. Nothing is too little or too big for him he can move mountains. Wow! What an honor to glorify the Lord by winning souls, never give up on those who have doubt lets snatch the city of FORT WORTH lets take authority, the Lord’s power is at hand all we have to do is go get it. Lord your mercy is forever, your love is forever and ever, always want to be in your glorious presence Lord.

  31. Joshua was a true servant and because of hiis unselfishness and his good works he was blessed with an inheritance.

  32. V9 “Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.”

Praise creates an overflow in our lives.

  33. There are some many things God has provided for his people. There is no reason for us to lack or want. Just simple request of asking God and he will do it.

  34. The whole chapter is about land: Simeon’s Land, Zebulun’s Land, Issachar’s Land, Asher’s Land, Naphtali’s Land, Dan’s Land, Joshua’s Land. Fort Worth, our Land….let’s take it!
