Ruth 4
1Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
3And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:
4And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
5Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
7Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
8Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.
9And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of Naomi.
10Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
11And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:
12And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.
13So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
14And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
16And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
17And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,
19And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,
20And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,
21And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,
22And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

No words in the book of Ruth speak more eloquently about redemption than the final words. Ruth, a foreigner of Moab, becomes the great grandmother of David, one of Israel’s most celebrated kings. God longs to redeem ordinary people from extraordinary purposes for his glory. Ruth’s story is an invitiation to choose God, to make a commitment to faithfulness, to willingly obey in the most overwhelming circumstances. And Ruth’s story is a promise that the Redeemer-God has choosen us, is commited to us and sent his Son to be obedient, even to death, that he might redeem us. The book of Ruth reveals God’s delight in radical outcomes. “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragment of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

2 Cool Tidbits
vs2 Boaz took ten of the elders of the town and said, “Sit her,” and they did so.
Here we see Boaz flexing his influencial muscle. The name Boaz means: Strength. We also see God’s #10 popping up in the # of elders called by Boaz to be witnesses to this agreement taking place. Leave no nooks or crannys for the enemy to enter. Recycling i good, when done by the will of God.
vs 17 “and they named him Obed.” Obed literally means Obedience. So Ruth (Friendship) and Boaz (Strength) create Obed-ienece..cool huh.
17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Ruth the Moabitess because of her obedience and love to her mother in law receive a great honor to be part of the lineage of Jesus being blessed with a son Obed, grandfather to David. I hope that Naomi wasn’t bitter enough not to recognize the blessing of having her grandchild Obed on her bosom, but I believe that she did change for no longer do I see her name as Mara but Naomi in Hebrew means beautiful, pleasant, delightful.
by the way the meaning of Obed in Hebrew is service, servant, workman, out of the root of obedience.
Vs 14 Their prophecy was true. The descendants of Boaz were very well known: David, Solomon, and Jesus.

6And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
He thought that taking the Moabite woman would mar his inheritance…Boaz didn’t care about his own image, but sought to be accepted of God and became the great grandad of David, and eventually the line in which Jesus was born.

14And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
Ruth stayed with Naomi wanting her God and God blessed her.
Orpah kissed Naomi and went back.
V.17 and the women her neighbors gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Prov 22:1 a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Submission and Obedience will always bring Blessings and ‘Life’
Jesus came from a lineage of love, understanding, peace, hope, long-suffering, steadfastness, and reward. Boaz showed his heart with love and understanding to his kinsmen, welcoming them unt o his land to share his harvest. Peace was Ruth’s in the way she held close to her mother-in-law in there time of grief, bringing peace to a bad situation. Hope was given unto the two of them when Boaz helped them out when they came unto the land. Long-suffering in the fact that its not easy loosing everyone around you in the blink of an eye and keeping the faith and moving on. Steadfastness was Naomi’s in the fact that she held on to God and rendered herself to be faithful through her trial. The reward of all this obedience and trust in God was the lineage of our savior shown through these humble beginnings. This gives us a greater understanding of what God intended for us to search for in this life.

Boaz made sure that Naomi the widow and Ruth was going to be taken care of.
Deuternonomy 24:19-21
19When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.
20When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
21When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
Ruth 4
Vs 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.Â
Naomi and Ruth had such a strong bond of love that the daughter in law was better to her than 7 of her very own sons. Surely there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24) What a virtuous woman! Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. (Proverbs 31:10 KJV)
Lord I speak a blessing upon the fatherless and widows of the region of Fort Worth. Lord fill the disciples of POFW with compassion for the fatherless and widows and that we continue to invest into our Children’s and Bus ministry and that you would increase laborers with a servant spirit of Ruth in our Children’s and Bus Ministry that weekly minister to the fatherless. In Jesus NameÂ
The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. (Psalm 146:9 KJV
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. (Isaiah 1:17 KJV)
Ruth;a good daughter,a good wife…a very fortunate (blessed) woman;A blessed generation….
21.And Salmon begat Boaz,and Boaz begat Obed.
22.And Obed begat Jesse,and Jesse begat David.
Prayer,goodness,obedience,loyalty and love is all part of the blessing…..
RESTORER
15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
Restorer – 1) to return, turn back.
Jesus is our restorer!
Isaiah 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:
11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
I claim this promise TODAY!
This is one of my favorite books in the Bible I have a mother in law that I also feel this way about, Her people are my people and her God is my God and I am so blessed because of it, 3 children and going to be 4 grandchildren and loving husband ,and I know this is from God. I was raised church of God all my life and believed in the trinity, and this is not something that change right away on one hand I had my grandfather that took me to church every sunday and taught me about the Lord and believed in God, and on the other was Randys family that told me about Oness. So when God knew I was ready he showed me who he was. I thank him for that every chance I get, and also for a loving and praying mother in law.
Proper order is very evident in this chapter. Boaz did things according to the custom of the day so that there would be no question as to who purchased the inheritance of Elimelech, which included Ruth as a wife.
God honors obedience, and we see here the blessing that came to his life and to Ruth because they were obedient in following the customs set before them. They were blessed to be part of the greatest blood line – Jesus Christ.
The scripture declares obedience is better than sacrifice. Whenever we are placed in situations, God will our obedience to His commandments and statues, and we too will find blessings.

He got off easy
The dude that was supposed to take Ruth got off easy. Deu 25: 5-9 says that the shoe came off and spit was to go in the face…
He got off easy but missed out on a true blessing. Who can find a virtuous woman?
Ruth gave all of herself to the
GOD of Israel and received more than she
gave up . All Ruth had was nothing but
faith and love. A cloak of commitment
and that was enough.
So God truly blessed Ruth. Because she chose the one and only true God,she was grafted in to the chosen people of God . Remember Naomi gave her a choice to go back to her family and serve their gods but she chose the one true God.Praise Him!

The linage of Jesus. This is an important part of our history as Christians. Ruth was a wise women and knew who to take counsel from. We must follow those who God has placed in our life. In following after God’s will, we will be able to the power of God at work.
In 2timothy1:2,5 Timothy had a lineage of faith through his grandmother and his mother and his spiritual father was Paul. Instances such as this and at the end of Ruth show us the importance of what lineage we give our children. Ruth was obedient and loved her authority who was her mother in law and her reward a marriage, provision, and a son. The lineage grew to david who was anointed king over all israel and was call a man after Gods own heart and even further to include the birth of the Christ. We may not know the full effects of what we are doing for the kingdom of God but we can be sure that if we stay obedient God has a plan for our lives and those down the road if the Lord tarry. An example in my own life is holiness, I was raised in an assemblies of God church my entire life. I knew we were pentecostal but my generation was never told about the split from UPC or even about standards. It wasn’t until a few years after I was in our church that I learned that my great grandmother had practiced holiness standards and maybe even family before her. They left a lineage for my family that I found. It is important we leave a righteous lineage for future generations. Truth is we will leave a lineage no matter what, how we live our lives and what we talk about will determine what that lineage is. Cains mark on this earth was murder and sin, korah division and rebellion, Ruth obedience. Our choices make or break us.
Aint it cool how we can trace back in our lineage and find people of holiness standards inside… I never knew my grandpa on my mothers side but not long after we joined POFW I found out he was one of us..under all the rough was a diamond 🙂
21And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,
22And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
So now the Generations of Daivd begin. Let us remember where God brought us from, because that is where we have our testimonies.
The moment Ruth decided to leave her home and travel to Naomi’s home, she was blessed. But being blessed doesn’t always mean things in life will be easy! When Ruth had to go to the fields and gather grain as a stranger in a strange land, she could have wondered why she ever came to the land of Israel. When the going gets hard for Christians, many go back to the life if sin or back to the life without God, thinking it will be easier! No, it’s never easier! It’s harder because now you face trouble & trial without God! But Ruth never waivered, never threw up her hands and quit. Rather she continued to do what was given for her to do and the end, she could realize her blessing. Lord, help us to continue when it gets tough-because we’re blessed, but maybe we’ve yet to get to the place where we realize it! One day with God is better than a lifetime without Him!
What a turn of events…just two chapters ago, Boaz was telling his workers to leave extra scraps for Ruth to pick up for herself from the field; now she is married to the master of the workers and fields!! How much more God loves His bride, and how much more He is master over, willing and able to give to the ones who will humble themselves at His feet, as Ruth humbled herself to Boaz.
Psalms 50:10-12
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
1John 5:14,15
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

we are witness for the lost
the book of ruth is a amazing story form loosing everything in a land they was not from to full redemtion all because of love and obeying what was asked a true rags to richs throw ruths obeying her mother in law you never no where obeying will lead you
This chapter illustrates integrity. Ruth showed respect to Naomi and she was blessed for it. Unfortunately this is a rare occurrence in today’s society, we must never forget to show respect to our elders. May the good Lord bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

Ruth wanted to follow the God naomie was following that she gave up her right to be obeds mom. What are we willing to give up for the right to serve God. Because she obeyed God ruth was able to give her mother in law a son that she could love and he would love her back. I can only imagine the pain naomie felt when she lost her husband and her sons and the joy that she felt to hold obed. God is allways on time in every situation……..

In this chapter we can appreciate 2 people with loyalty, mercy and obedience Heart!
Boaz was an honest and mercy man, Ruth was not a christian( israeli), but we she had mercy and
Compassion for her mother in law!
God honors them after generations being the root of Jesus!
People of Israel profetized(without knowing) they lifted Boaz,they noticed his testimony!
Testimony it’s better than words!
This is beautiful story of ruth and her obedience to Naomi that caused her to receive blessings she could never dreamed. she became the great grandmother of david and blessed for ever to have her story written in the word of God.

The open doors that some choose to walk away from can become doors of opportunity revealed to others who will “redeem” that which is offered by God. Time and chance happens to them all, while one chance at a certain time may get passed up by one, God can turn it around to arrive at the doorstep of another. The question is, will we redeem what God has placed in our life for the season we are in?
Verses 14-15 in the MSG read….”The town women said to Naomi, “Blessed be God! He didn’t leave you without family to carry on your life. May this baby grow up to be famous in Israel! He’ll make you young again! He’ll take care of you in old age. And this daughter-in-law who has brought him into the world and loves you so much, why, she’s worth more to you than seven sons!” The Lord showed Naomi that she wasn’t forgotten and blessed Ruth for her obedience with a blessed blood line!
Ruth’s love for her mother-in-law was known and recognized throughout the town. From the beginning of the book of Ruth to the end, her kindness toward others remained unchanged.
