Read Proverbs Chapter 28
1 Kings 22
1 And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4 And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
5 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord to day.
6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
7 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of theLord besides, that we might enquire of him?
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.
10 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.
12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the king’s hand.
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.
15 So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for theLord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
16 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord?
17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the Lord from me to speak unto thee?
25 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
27 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
28 And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the Lordhath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.
29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.
30 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31 But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
34 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
35 And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.
36 And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the Lord which he spake.
39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43 And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the Lord: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
44 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
47 There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.
49 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the Lord God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

Good Vs Evil
Ahab is well known as the most evil of all the kings of Israel and Judah vs 30-33. He plays with wicked spirits in diiferent ways. At times his depravity is obvious, as in the establishment of Baal worship (1Ki 16:31-32) and his pursuit of Elijah in ch 18:10. At other times Ahab’s evil ways are manifested more subtly, as in his attempt to gain Naboth’s land back in ch21. Both subtle as well as obvious crimes are used by those in power to manipulate the weak and vulnerable. But those who practice evil are infinately weaker than the God of goodness. Like, Ahab, they will eventually pay the ultimate price for their choice.

Let God be True and Every Man a Lier
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
Ahab did not want to hear the truth. When the man of God speaks we should take heed, least we fall into an unnecessarily storm that could have avoided.
Truth vs Lies
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
We should all hearken to the voice of our man of God. Here the prophet will not be miss guided to speak lies like the others but the king wanting only to hear what is pleasing to his ears ignores him. His prize death!!!! so thankful for a man of God that says it like it is and saves us from death!!!
v49 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat , Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
Jehoshaphat learned a good lesson
Always get counsel from the LORD HIS WORD and GOD’s Man in our life ( Pastor )
It’s been said,” GOD will not tell a saint something different than what HE is telling a prayerful Pastor.
If you don’t hear it preach your faith leaves you. He keeps the story alive
HEAR…. Repentance , water baptism in AND INFILLING OF THE HOLY GHOST IN JESUS NAME. Truth to save our souls.

Not So Random
Scripture says that a solider draws a bow at “random” and wounds Ahab. Yet nothing is truely random, for our sovereign God is always in control. This supposedly ‘radom’ act leads to Ahabs death, which on on God’s prophets foretold of: “In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick up yours-yes, yours” (1Ki 21:19). When a soldier draws a bow, or any weapon they typically have a target in mind, unless they were going for a distance as a group. The ‘random’ acts that accur in our lives today also fall under the authority of the Lord. We ‘accidentally’ find ourselves in situations that can impact our familes, our home, health, or careers… even our worship. It’s best not to think of any part of life as ‘random’ but ask God to orchestrate every detail of our circumstances to bring glory to him as well as experience his blessings in our lives.
Check out 2Ch 18:18 “Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left. 19And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. 20Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? 21And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so. 22Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

Sometimes the truth is not pleasant to the ears,but we must listen to what God is speaking thru the man of God and obey or we will find ourselves in alot of trouble.He is telling us to help us,so that we won’t face hardship down the road.Lord help me to hear your word even when it hurts,it is all for my good.
THE RISK OF INTEGRITY
14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
Ahab the slothful, unrighteous King who delights in disobedience, dishonesty and deception finds himself once again facing TRUTH.
First of all we all need to follow the principal of the prophet Micaiah “what the LORD says, that will I speak”.
Secondly, when we speak what the LORD says, people of like spirit as Ahab are going to criticize and despise the TRUTH speaker. To those desiring Ministry; you are not entering a “popularity contest” but as “honesty contest”. Speak only what the LORD says, good or bad, regardless of the individuals involved.
Finally we see the effects of the thought process of an unrighteous person. They feel like the man of GOD is always against them; because the man of GOD reveals the TRUTH of the situation and does not agree just to agree.

18 Ahab turned to Jehoshaphat and said, “I told you he would bring bad news!”
Telling the TRUTH might even get you slapped!

24 Zedekiah walked up to Micaiah and slapped him on the face. Then he asked, “Do you really think the Lord would speak to you and not to me?”
Tell the TRUTH a slap will wear off; but eternity is forever.

In one of the last chapters it said that Ahaziah was king and followed his father then his mother and sinned before the Lord (vs52)……we can easily follow someone who is not following God’s path and turn to sin. This happened to me yesterday. I was helping someone for Christ’s name …and I turned the other way and followed someone else’s way and I acted kinda rude towards them. But God is good thanks to Him speaking to me lastnight at church I was able to bring peace into the equation this morning. Everytime I can I’m going to bring peace into someone’s life instead of someone else’s ways so I wont sin against God ….that this particular scripture talks about. Its not mine but the Lord’s.
The Workers in the Vineyard
Matthew 20:1-
For the Kindom of Heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
Lord help be to be a faithful worker for you.
41 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

Here we see yet again the same workding….and he walked in the ways of his father…..doing that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, nevertheless the hgh places were not taken away….
This is like many people today. They are walking in the ways of the Lord, but are not surrendering every part of their heart, therefore, they are not truly 100% sold out to the Kingdom. Matthew 6:24 says “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
We must surrender every part of our heart, and not hold on to anything that would lead us back to the old lifestyle or way of thinking…. habits, books, music, etc. Lord, I surrender all, every part. Giving of myself, withholding nothing.
Why lie? It doesn’t get you nowhere but to the point you have to tell another lie to keep up the lie you told.
Exodus 20: 16 KJV Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Be careful who you are following and who you are listening to. Make sure you are following the man of God that has been placed in your life (your pastor). Pastor will not lead us astray and he will tell us the truth, that’s what I love about our Pastor he don’t tickle our ears and say what we want to hear but what we need to hear.
Stroke my ears tell me what I want to hear…oh, Ahab, wicked man who refused to learn. God showed you mercy by extending your life after you humbled yourself before him and now you refuse to listen. God is true to his word.
14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.

It seems Ahab and Micaiah have gone through this routine so often there’s almost something sarcastic about Micaiah’s initial “prophesy.” Kinda like “oh boy, here we go again… can I just get out of here if I tell you what you want to here? you won’t listen to truth anyhow so why waste my breath?” Though Ahab himself seemed to have his own sarcasm in telling Micaiah to only prophesy what God said…
Who we are around can have such an impact in our lives. Ahab had Micaiah but did not give him a voice in his life and so didn’t get that positive influence. Jehoshaphat had Ahab, though that relationship seems to have not lasted long enough for serious trouble to brew, but it seems it was starting.
I found it odd that Jehoshaphat, a God-fearing king, would hear Micaiah’s prophesy and still go into battle with Ahab. A man who would refuse to follow the voice of God, resist calling on the man of God for counsel, and lock up the man of God for truth, is a dangerous individual. Some people sow destruction in their lives, so why chance being around and getting caught in it when they start reaping?
Jehoshaphat seemed almost more concerned about his relationship with Ahab than with God, though at least that relationship didn’t go on for too long. Perhaps Jehoshaphat too would have turned and learned the ways of Israel’s kings?

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:3, 4 KJV)

MYTH

They are transmitted to convey religious or idealized experience, to establish behavioral models, and to teach.
Peacemakers…Where were you?
As we learned last night in Mathew 5:9 “…blessed are the peacemakers…” Three years of peace between Israel and Syria but Ahab had not peacemakers to speak into his life.
Where was Ahab’s pacifier? While he will die as the prophet declared; it might not have come so soon.
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the Lord God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
Train up a child in the way that he should go, and he will not depart from it. This is the reason why we need to train our children in what to do, to say ,and how to act.
Ahab could not expect to live how he wanted to and still be blessed. When he chose to disobey he lost his covering.
The problem with a group of prophets, they usually tend to agree with each other, before checking with God. I have seen many people who God uses become “comfortable” with there gifts. They become so comfortable they don’t wait for God instead taking it upon themselves. They don’t fast anymore or seek direction, they’ve been used so many times that they “know what there doing” be careful and make sure your prophet seeks the will of God and is not just affirming your will.
The word of God can sometimes seem painfull but we must receive it in our hearts. God loves us and sends His word through teachings, such as last nights, to show us what we may not be able to see

Jeremiah 23:
31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.
37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.
The pressure was on Micaiah to speak just like the other 400 prophets had done. 400 to 1 plus 2 Kings staring you down to fall in line with the rest of the crowd. Yet Micaiah didn’t cave in under the pressure-he stood his ground and spoke what God gave him to speak. We also must stand for this truth that we know and live it before other people who would rather see us conform to this world. Like Micaiah we must not cave in under peer pressure and continue to let our lights shine in this dark dark world got Jesus!
Ahab didn’t like asking Micaiah what the Lord would say about attacking Syria because he would always give him bad news. I would say that Ahab wanted his way and didn’t want to do what the Lord commanded he felt intimidated by Micaiah.
He didn’t obey the Lord, he attacked Syria and ended up getting killed.
Scripture says Ahab’s son became King of Israel, He worshipped Baal
and angered the Lord.
Lord all I want is to please you.
This chapter illustrates news. The king of Israel only wanted to hear good news and nothing else, which is why he despised Micaiah. The king would have been wise to obey once he demanded Micaiah tell him the truth. All would be wise to listen to the man of God and heed his direction regardless if it is the news we want to hear or not. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen
In this chapter, Jehoshaphat had a meeting with king of Israel as reflected in verses 4-5 MSG….”He turned to Jehoshaphat and said, “Will you join me in fighting for Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said, “You bet. I’m with you all the way—my troops are your troops, my horses are your horses.” He then continued, “But before you do anything, ask God for guidance.” We too should be willing to put forth our very best and ask God for guidance.
In verse 8 MSG…….The king of Israel told Jehoshaphat, “As a matter of fact, there is still one such man. But I hate him. He never preaches anything good to me, only doom, doom, doom—Micaiah son of Imlah.” “The king shouldn’t talk about a prophet like that,” said Jehoshaphat. We may not always like or agree with the man of God; but, we have to push forward letting God be God.
Let God be true and every man a liar.
Thank God there are men and women who still hear from him who are not hirelings, and who will tell you what you need to hear.
The prophet was true to his call and obedient to the Lord in speaking the word with out fear or favor.
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
This is funny because he doesn’t want to hear from God because he knows he’ll not like it. It’s not what he wants.
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
Jehoshaphat did not want to hear the voice of the Lord instead he was interested in having his ears itched. That may have made him feel good for the moment but it cost him his soul…
Listen to your Man of God to stay under his covering and authority
Jehoshaphat ordered ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for
gold, but they did not go, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion-geber. When Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, Let my
servants go with your servants in the ships, Jehoshaphat refused. (1 Kings 22:48, 49 AMP)
Two things had me very curious in this chapter.
1. Which is why Jehoshaphat refused Ahaziah?
2. Why is Jehoshaphat who was following the ways of the Lord so close to two kings that provoked the Lord to anger? In reading 2 Chronicles 19 & 20 learned that Jehoshaphat received two warnings of his relationships with the kings of Israel.
This is the warning he received after returning from the battle he assisted King Ahab.
JEHOSHAPHAT THE king of Judah returned safely to his house in
Jerusalem. Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said
to Jehoshaphat, Should you help the ungodly and love those who hate the Lord?
Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord. But there are good things found in you, for you have
destroyed the Asherim out of the land and have set your heart to seek God [with all
your soul’s desire]. (2 Chronicles 19:1-3 AMP)
And this warning about the ships with King Ahaziah
After this, Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined with Ahaziah
king of Israel, who did very wickedly. He joined him in building ships to go to Tarshish, building

If you want to avoid hardships and losses do your part and take heed to our man of God with gladness. For he will have to give an account for our souls. We need his covering and authority!
Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually
recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over
your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who
will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this
with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that
would not be profitable to you [either]. (Hebrews 13:17 AMP)
And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak. So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord? And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. Every person needs a pastor in their life. We need that person to be the voice we humble ourselves to otherwise we’ll be lost. If you don’t have a pastor you are not in the proper line of authority and become an open target to be shot at from the devil. A wise man builds his house on a foundation filled with the word following authority while the foolish man loosely builds what he thinks is right hoping to get by…
IN this passage the sons of two different kings began to reign and each did what their father had done. One did right in the eyes of the Lord and the other evil. How influential is a father to his children? We must do what is right.
18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
The Truth will not always settle well with us, but it is part of growth, only and if you are willing to accept it.
14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak
God’s people should always speak what he has given us to say. When we speak those things that God has given us anything is liable to happen. Our obedience to God’s word will always be rewarded.
