  1. 3:1-9 The family of David,This of David’s children is largely drawn from 2 Samuel

    3:10-24 The family of Solomon

  2. This only make me think, if in the same way our babes in Christ will be listed? The reason I think that is because since once they are baptist in Jesus Name and receive the Holy Ghost they are adopted into the linage of Christ will Christ put them down as our child? Doesn’t that makes you want to nurture them, watch them grow in Christ, not abandon in a corner not knowing what to do with their new found knowledge and gift? Those that know me know that I can not watch a child being set aside & not be loved and nurture. We should look upon our babes in Christ the same way, they might be adults, they might be older than us but if they don’t know enough about Christ, we need to teach them. It is good that they get baptist it is good that the get the Holy Ghost but it is so much better to know that the Glory of the Lord lives in you, that His Holy Spirit dwells in you, that when you need Him, He is just a praise or prayer away. That is why teaching and nurturing them is so important. How many more names will be added under yours when our role is called up yonder? (th

I wonder how this would have read if the men noted would have be faithful to one wife instead of multiple wives.

For example, one of the most rebellious sons wouldn’t have been born.

2 The third, Absalom the son of Maachah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur: the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith:

Geshur was a territory in the northern part of Bashan, adjoining the province of Argob (Deut. iii. 14) and the kingdom of Aram or Syria (II Sam. xv. 8; I Chron. ii. 23). It was allotted to the half-tribe of Manasseh, which settled east of the Jordan; but its inhabitants, the Geshurites, could never be expelled (Josh. xiii. 13). In the time of David, Geshur was an independent kingdom: David married a daughter of Talmai, King of Geshur (II Sam. iii. 3). Her son Absalom fled, after the murder of his half-brother, to his mother’s native country, where he stayed three years (ib. xiii. 37, xv. 8). Geshur is identified with the plateau called to-day “Lejah,” in the center of the Hauran. There was also another people called “Geshurites” who dwelt in the desert between Arabia and Philistia (Josh. xiii. 2 [A. V. “Geshuri”]; I Sam. xxvii. 8; in the latter citation the Geshurites are mentioned together with the Gezrites and Amalekites).

  4. A man is blessed to have a large family. Psalms 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them

  5. Vs 4&19/
God describes in ch 4 that six men reighned in Jerulselum for 33 yrs. And later on in vs 19 that God talked about brought up thier sister. Different people and different instances, but He was very descriptive of who and what they did and where and how long they reighned.
I hope that when God describes me that He will be happy and descriptive of what and when I reighned in my life- with the help of the Only true God. That the Lord is up there celebrating in heaven, everyrime I accomplished something in my life, with the help pf the Holy Ghost.
    Thank u Jesus!!!!!
Gotta luv Him – thanks for your deliverence on a many of times -Jesus.

  6. Here you go POFW Bloggers… I figured it out, or maybe it was Divine intuition….

The Lord is teaching us patience this week.

Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Colossians 1:11-12 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Don’t lose focus through the “begat’s”. Endure and be patient with JOY!

  7. Thankful for my 3 children and 6 grandchildren that God has given me,they all are a blessing.I pray that I will always be a Godly exsample for them.We can all look back to some of the ways we do things today and realize that is the way our parents taught us to do it.It maybe the way you cook, clean house, good at fixing things or many other things that came from our parents. If our parents were in church or are in church now, alot of the time if they weren’t faithful to church,we won’t be either,if they always had respect for the man of God ,so do we…etc. What I am trying to say is,we may not realize it,but our children are watching us and we will be an influence on the way they do things in the future,be it good or bad.God help me to be a postive influence on those around me.

  8. Spiritual Children

1 Now these were the sons of David, which were born unto him in Hebron; the firstborn Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second Daniel, of Abigail the Carmelitess:

If this verse read: Now these are the spiritual son of ______, …; and we had to insert our name and those we have prayed with until Christ was formed in them would we have any names or even a name?

This reminded me of the red bandanda Pastor gave us as a reminder to try and reach at least 1 soul this year.

9 These were all the sons of David, beside the sons of the concubines, and Tamar their sister.

We have an account of David’s sons,

He had many sons; and no doubt wrote as he thought, Psalms 127:5. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of these arrows.

Some of them were a grief to him, as Amnon, Absalom, and Adonijah; and we do not read of any of them that imitated his piety or devotion except Solomon, and he came far short of it.

One of them, which Bath-sheba bore to him, he called Nathan, probably in honour of Nathan the prophet, who reproved him for his sin in that matter and was instrumental to bring him to repentance. It seems he loved him the better for it as long as he lived. It is wisdom to esteem those our best friends that deal faithfully with us.

From this son of David our Lord Jesus descended, as appears.

Luke 3:23 – 31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David,

Jesus is of the lineage of David, and David is of the linage of Jesus!

Our walk with GOD is a relationship. He desires us to be in him and he desires to be in us.

  10. 24 The sons of Elioenai were Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani—seven in all.

How remarkable, the very last name Anani means ‘clouds in heaven’, a prophecy.

Daniel 7:13 As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence.

The prophecy of Jesus coming to form. Hallelujah!!

  11. I feel so far that the blog reading is doing a family tree outline. I’m thankful for the pentecostal heritage i have in my background.

  12. This chapter illustrates chosen. Although there were many sons identified only a few were chosen to be king. While there are many people in the world today only a few choose to live for God; “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” As such only a few will be chosen to be with him; “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” All the more why we must push towards him (Jesus) and choose this day whom we will serve. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. There’s nothing like being a part of a king’s linage, especially when that king is the one true king our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We are truly blessed.

  14. ILove to eat lunch with Jesus

    Carbon Copy?

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12 KJV)
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12 KJV)

What words are being written down in Heaven’s book about us?

  15. Each of these names are the direct lineage of david whether they be sons or further down the line. However despite having the same father we have learned that they each took different paths, some good and some evil in the sight of the Lord. Its important that parents, physically and spiritually, take an active part in children’s lives to teach them and raise them in the ways of the Lord. We can’t really help the choices they choose to make but we can do our best and commit them to the Lord in prayer. We also need to help them and protect them from evil influences as best as possible until they are able to stand on their own.

  16. These were sons just like you and me. Some were Good some were bad. Can’t put any of them on a pedestal,THEY WILL FAIL. Let Jesus reign!!!

  17. As we have been reading for the past few days, the generations have been getting more and more. So as I was praying I thought how it is as of today. In the old testament they had multiple wives and multiple concubines. This is no different in the world, if we would just listen to the children in our church that we pick up. Like,” That’s my brother, from a different dad that left him. Now momma is expecting with her new boyfriend.” As it the saying goes , there’s nothing new under the sun. How true that is.

  18. Doesn’t matter what your family tree looks like, God can and will use any willing vessel. We can see through the linage the last few days that there were good and bad on all sides, yet our heritage was preserved. Thankful for Godly heritage. I still believe in the old rugged cross and what it stands for. I still believe marriage is between man and woman. I still believe if you wanna go to heave you must be born of water and spirit. I believe that you must be a holy, separated people. I still believe that it is not God’s will that any should perish, and I believe that we at POFW have been preserved for such a time as this ….endtime harvest.

  19. foe all who really know me and my family situations, know that i am a single mom of two girls and three boys. for a long time even before i came to God i called myself a Queen and i beleived it in my heart but now i know that we are all royalty, so for my boys who are learning what needs to be learned they are already the kings that God created they just have to believe it and put the required action to let others see that they too came from a God who has all the riches we could ever ask for or ever dream about. i thank God for the kings and queens he has blessed me to raise

  20. v19 And the sons of Pedaiah were,
Zerubbabel, and Shimei: and the sons of Zerubbabel; Meshullam, and Hananiah, and Shelomith their sister:

Zerubbabel- A leader in the return from exile.
We need more leaders to become instruments of restoring GOD’S Temple.
( spiritually speaking becoming part of The Body. HIS CHURCH)
My prayer is that souls and backsliders will become sick of this world.( Babylon) . This world has held them captive long enough.

It’s not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Zech.4:6

That’s through the power of the Holy Ghost
An invisible power is drawing backsliden children and unsaved souls into the Kingdom
    of GOD.
Thank you JESUS for that Blessed Hope.
“I Will Draw All Men Unto Me”
There is no telling what would happen when
We all together LIFT UP JESUS !!!!

  21. I remember when my parents were deciding on a name for my little brother, they wanted to give him a name that showed everyone who was important in their lives. His name is Nathan Coy Hill – Nathan, after the prophet of God; Coy, after the man of God (Our Pastor at the time) and Hill, of course shows our lineage. I am so thankful for parents that loved God and wanted us to know who and what is most important in our lives! I am also thankful for a lineage of fore-fathers in the faith who taught us the most important name of all – Jesus!

  22. This chapter continues with the names of the family of David. They must have had some “Baby Name Books” back then. Each name has a special meaning and place in this tree. We too are very special to God and have a place/job to do for the kingdom.

  23. Now these are ye sons of David…

David’s choices in life were reflected in the lives of his children. Though David was a man after God’s own heart, his children saw every good, right, or evil action that he committed.

He failed many times and God forgave him. However each time he fell his children experienced that.

I believe that David is saved because of his willingness to repent.

I think each time he fell he made it harder for those he was influencing.

    Leadership carries great responsibility.

  24. As I read through the names of David’s first few sons-I note that they all have different mothers. I wondered if there was strife between these women like there was between Leah & Rachel. (Of course there was!) Who was his favorite wife? Which son was his favorite? No doubt these mothers all had their eye on David’s throne for THEIR son! So now, contention and strife passes down to the children and we see it played out between Absalom & Solomon-who will be King? We know the ending-that God had annointed Solomon, and with the help of the men of God, he overcame Absalom’s attempt to forcefully take it. As mentioned earlier, who are our sons/daughters in the gospel? I want to win my friend to the Lord and see her live for God successfully-as well as my own children & grandchildren!

  25. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. -Psalms 127:3

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. -Psalms 127:4

Thank God for our children. Not only does he remembers us but he our children as well.

  26. We see a blood heritage here, but we each have a spiritual heritage from those that have poured into our lives. The closer we follow a leader (especially those leaders in a Pastoral role), the more traits of theirs we will notice are becoming our own. Like a fingerprint, their mark comes upon our life.

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1 KJV)

  27. In this chapeter we see the King Davids family tree leading all the way to Jesus. This chapter shows me we are a “royal priesthood a peculir people a holy nation! Im thankful for apostolic heritage.

  28. The chapter continues to show the family line. They all lived different lifes , God tried to show them the right path he had propherts and Kings. Some Kings followed the commandments and some didn’t. The Lord hasn’t given up on us no matter how disobedient we are. He does punish us he has sent plagues and loved ones have been hurt. The Lord only wants to help us. He asks us to worship one true God.

I want to live for you Lord. I can’t change the world and make everyone do your will but I can speak for my own family Lord. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

  29. I have really been thinking about Tamar, David’s only daughter mentioned here. V9. It is not that Tamar was his only daughter, but the role she played in this extraordinary tale.

And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters. (1 Chronicles 14:3 KJV)

    Review 2 Samuel 13
Tamar’s unfortunate circumstances led her to her brother’s death. Even though she had these horrible things happen it was not the last we heard of Tamar.

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman. (Ruth 4:12 KJV)

  30. I focused in on the kings of Judah after David and see the promise of God come to pass name by name (2 Sa 7:8-17) that his kingdom would last forever. Since David’s reign ends, as does the reign of every human king, God promise of an eternal kingdom must refer to the future rule of of the Messiah. David understood this truth and so did the Hebrew people. Today God’s true followers acknowledge that the Son of David came into the world as Jesus Christ, the Messiah, our forever King (Isa 9:7; Lk 1:29-33).
