Read Proverbs Chapter 27
1 Chronicles 4
1 The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
2 And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.
3 And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi:
4 And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.
5 And Ashur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 And Naarah bare him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
7 And the sons of Helah were, Zereth, and Jezoar, and Ethnan.
8 And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
11 And Chelub the brother of Shuah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.
12 And Eshton begat Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Rechah.
13 And the sons of Kenaz; Othniel, and Seraiah: and the sons of Othniel; Hathath.
14 And Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab, the father of the valley of Charashim; for they were craftsmen.
15 And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh; Iru, Elah, and Naam: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz.
16 And the sons of Jehaleleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.
17 And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
18 And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took.
19 And the sons of his wife Hodiah the sister of Naham, the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.
20 And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea,
22 And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And these are ancient things.
23 These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
24 The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:
25 Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
26 And the sons of Mishma; Hamuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son.
27 And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters: but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
28 And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
29 And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
30 And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
31 And at Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusim, and at Bethbirei, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
32 And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:
33 And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.
34 And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah,
35 And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
36 And Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
37 And Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;
38 These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.
39 And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40 And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
41 And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.
42 And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43 And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.

We must use what’s been given to us and do our own work.
Luke 14:23 And the LORD said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in , that my house may be filled.
This is what the LORD calls commitment…..
Matt.22:37 ” Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, soul, and mind.”
Our love for GOD enables us to submit to His Work. To Worship, Praise, Prayer ,His Word, Thanksgiving and Into HIS PRESENCE.
We are committed to GOD because we Love
HIM and not because we feel an obligation.
Let’s draw near with a true heart. As we speak to GOD and HE speaks to us. The secret of true prayer is unhurried time with GOD.
” Be still , and know that I Am GOD.” Ps. 46:10
Praise GOD even if we don’t feel like it.
We have an obligation to the LORD.

vs 27 This verse appears to say that the family of Judah increased greatly. Since Judah means praise, through our praise our blessings can increase. It through praise to God that blessings come with obidience to God’s Word.

When you please your Father you get everything you desire. Why do people complicate life with God? I have no idea, He makes it simple.
Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We have a loving Heavenly Father that always wants to help us and will always make things right as long as we run to the Rock of our salvation. He wants nothing but the very best for us.
Psalm 35:27 27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
There is a lot of power in a name, I didn’t care for what the mother did, called him Jabez to be a reminder of the sorrow she bare him with. What a thing to live with. Every time his name was called he was told of the pain he caused his mom. But His Father knew better, His Father blessed Him for he was honorable. Daddy always knows best.

Eat the fat of the Land
40 And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
Our Shepherd Jesus has given us a good well favored pastor and he feeds us abundantly…But it’s up to us to eat our vegetables.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: (Isaiah 1:19 KJV)
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isaiah 55:2 KJV)
IDENTITY CRISIS
9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
We find in the generations of the bible that names have a meaning and they identity or definition that came along with a name was carried by the individual all the days of their life. Jabez is a unique story here in the middle of the family tree, unlike Achar whose name means “troubler”, and was identified as “transgressor” in 1 Chronicles Chapter 2.
Jabez, whose name means “sorrow” or pain. Chose in himself to change his identity. He refused to be remembered by the pain or sorrow of his birth.
Jabez PRAYED!
He asked GOD to Bless him
He asked GOD for more property.
He asked GOD to be near him.
He asked GOD to direct and correct HIM.
GOD granted his request!
James 4:2 …, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
If your life is sorrowful or sorrow filled, refuse to accept “IT”. Have an IDENTITY CRISIS and have a life changing experience with Christ Jesus through prayer.

10 He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.
James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Let us always pray, and God in time will grant us our request!
Love Bro.Watts comment.We do not have to be idenified by our past ,we have been born again,so that changes our story.People are going to see us as the things we are now,as we work for the kingdom of God.What are people going to replace our past with…they are faithful,a prayer warrior,humble ,has alot of wisdom,a soul winner,a great worker…etc.Lord help me to be the best I can be as your servant.
This chapter illustrates recognizable. There were many names mentioned however there were very few that were elaborated on. Although we all want to be recognized by someone, the true recognition one should strive for is that of Jesus. Does he know you? Does he know me? May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

These men were submitted to their king for his work.
Like Jesus being about his fathers buisness.
Luke 2:49
And he said unto them, How is it that he sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

I feel “Jabez” for You
Instead of feeling sorry for people we should start feeling Jabez for them. Encourage them to pray and take the land by force. Cast sorrow off!
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Ask and you shall receive! Jabez was not affraid to ask what he wanted and God granted him his request. We too should just ask and allow Godnto give unto us.
42 And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
Respectively the names of the captains mean, God delivered, child of God,God Healed, and Strength of God, you can read a lot into the order they were listed, or we can simplify and see when some leads, they must have God in them.
27 And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters: but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. -Psalms 127:5
Don’t let sin escape if you are to dwell in the land God has promise you must be obedient and utterly destroy sin.
43 And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Jabez prayed specifically for what he wanted from God and it was granted. The prayers we send up to God should be specific and not vague in nature.
And his mother called him Jabez because she bore him with sorrow. Yet Jabez is a man blessed of God. We pray the prayer of Jabez daily! Whatever our circumstances in life and no matter what has happened to us in the past, we can be honorable people like this man was and overcome it all in the name of the Lord.
Long time ago fathers taught there sons a trade,as my father did. If a father was a blacksmith so was the son.If a father was a tentmaker or carpenter then so was his son. My father was a retailer and started teaching me the market business at 12 years old. He did it for 30 years,I did it 3yrs. And then sin and pride got in the way. We didn’t want to follow our fathers path. We wanted to do things our own way,sons became prodigal in the flesh as well as in the spirit. I did use my abilitys to go into management from the tme I was 28yrs old and today I am still the Leader in my dept. But had I done things His way I could have retired at 36 and received a good retirement check and nd started a new career. When God calls us we often stray from the path and loose many blessing that God had reserved for us. Lets learn from Our God and walk in His path!!

This verse tells us all we gotta do is ask. Why is it people have a need and instead of talking to Jesus they talk to other people. I want to have the mind of Christ and be more compassionate like Christ. When we have a need all we gotta do is take it to the Lord and he will answer either Yes, No, Not not you are not ready…….But whichever ask God and you will recieve if you are doing what you know to do is right. If you are not pleasing to God your chances of getting the answer you want may be slim.

This just goes to show that being a praiser is a blessing. So Praise On!
4:10 Living Large For God
Oh, that You would enlarge my territory !
The next part of the Jabez prayer-a plea for more territory -is where you ask God to enlarge your life so you can make a greater impact for Him.
From both the context and the results of Jabez’s prayer,we can see that there was more to his request than a simple desire for more real estate . He wanted more influence , more responsibility , and more opportunity to make a mark for the God of Israel.
40 And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
I believe the land God has promised us will be fat, good, wide, and peaceable!
Sometimes by going to the sacred place in our lives we find pasture(rest).
Thank you Lord for rest and knowledge you give me in the Holy Ghost.
Prayer is very powerful, the Lord heard Jabez, and he can hear you too. It takes faith and prayer, Jabez had faith in the Lord he knew who to ask for what he wanted.
Nothing is impossible through God. Lord grant me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Thank you Lord for all you do for me and my family.
V9 “And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.”
That word honourable is #3513, meaning to be heavy in varying manifestations (weighty; grievous; hard; rich; honourable; glorious; burdensome; honoured.) It takes the idea of heaviness primarily figuratively, applying to concept of “to bear up under any thing, to endure adversity.” Honor comes at a cost. It is a “burden” or weight, just as power and authority often ties directly with responsibility and accountability.
It seems Jabez decided it wasn’t enough to remain with the lot in life passed on to him. His name means “he causes pain” yet he refused to stop there.
V10 “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
It reminds me of Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
The term sorrow seems to refer to the idea of labor. Restating this verse with this in mind, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no [pain, hurt, toil, sorrow, labour, hardship] with it.”
God adds no burden of sorrow/labor/hardship with the blessing. Jabez, a man of sorrow and honor, acquainted with pain, sorrow, and burden, said, “Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed…”
“Oh that thou wouldest give me that which makes rich and adds no more of what I already have… Oh that thou wouldest re-write my story, that You would enlarge my potential, that Your blessing would be with me in life, that You would keep me from evil and the grief and sorrow and death that comes with it!”
Sometimes we have to say “past/present, that’s enough” and grab ahold of the victory God provides so we can stand up and take authority over those things that would try to keep us from the new future God has for us. God didn’t have to suffer the cross for us, and He didn’t have to bless Jabez; yet Jabez made the choice to ask and he received, which illustrates the opportunity we all have to *chose* to do something about where we are and where we’ve come from. Freedom from what haunts us could simply be a sincere prayer away.
Psalm 18:3 “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” (Psalm 18 seems very fitting in many ways to Jabez’ story)
Heritage of Honorable Hard Workers
vs14 ..”It was called because its people were craftsmen” Nehemiah 2:17 “Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.” where carried off to Babylon in 2 Ki 24:14.
vs21..”clans of the linen workers..” Fine linen, white and pure, is the raiment assigned to the armies which are in heaven following Him who is called Faithful and True (Revelation 19:14). It is deemed a fitting symbol of the righteousness and purity of the saints (Revelation 19:8).
vs23..”they were the potters..” God is our potter. Jer 18:6″O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?” declares the LORD. …”O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay?…Ro 9:21 “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use? Not to mention they were well paid (Zec 11:13) like the craftsmen they were taken on the 1st deportation to Babylon because they’re so valuable.
Jabez had it rough since the moment he entered this world with a Hebrew name meaning pain and sorrow. He wasnt about to let the interpretation of his name effect the rest of his life, he prayed to God (the only one who could help him) to change his stripes. Jabez wants a heritage that his family cannot offer. He calls out to God to bless him to “nourish and grow me beyond my present situation. Direct me with your powerful hand and help me to rise above my painful, depressing past.” And God did. These hard workers trickled down after Jabez with skillful blessings, all of course ‘beyond’ Jabez life time. God can bless you and your children after you, like he did here for Jabez and his family line.
Verses 9-10 in the NLT….”There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.
We too can pray to God and he will hear our prayers. Lord, please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
I love the part of the prayer where Jabez says, “Keep me from evil.” It seems that Jabez understood his own destructive nature, realizing that he was capable of evil, praying against that evil. He had to crush his flesh through prayer.
Guidance is always a blessing! Whether you can the see the benefit of it at first or not. Every drastic decision you make should be prayed about and brought up to Pastor. God let us be willing to use your guidance!

If you long to be more honorable in God’s sight you might want to look into Jabez. His mother named him from her sorrow. He had to overcome his name, stop believing the reports around him and listen to the Father’s report. He focused his attention and asked God to give him defeat over his circumstances. God granted him that which he requested. God can grant us what we request too!
