2 Chronicles 1

1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.

But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of theLord: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

  1. Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

God told Solomon that because what he asked was in his heart and that it was a pure desire He would bless him with it. By pure I mean that he was sincere and didn’t ask selfishly for himself, instead he asked for something that would help him to handle Gods people because he understood the kingdom was greater than himself. Solomon could do nothing without Gods help and he recognized that.

God saw what was in Solomons heart. The prayer was sincere and honest from someone who acknowledged their own frailties. Solomon wasn’t searching for or using words that he thought would please God, he was transparent. When we pray we should always be transparent, our deeds and thoughts are not hidden from the Lord anyway so the only one we are fooling is ourselves.
In a book I am reading it brought up forgiving. So many times we say we forgive or even pray to forgive but the desire isn’t really in our hearts to. It was suggested to pray for the genuine desire to forgive to be in our hearts so that we can fully forgive and be forgiven. Just like God saw Solomons heart, He sees ours and knows when we are sincere. I pray God help me to not just pray words but to pray my heart so that He can truly mold me into what He wants me to be. And I pray that I will be receptive of the process.

    WISDOM

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? (2 Chronicles 1:10 KJV)

    GET WISDOM

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7 KJV)

    HOW DO YOU GET WISDOM?

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5 KJV)

WISE PEOPLE ARE HAPPY AND BLESSED

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. (Proverbs 3:13-18 KJV)

    THE SPIRITUAL GIFT OF WISDOM

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (1 Corinthians 12:7, 8 KJV)

WE HAVE TO PRAY FOR WISDOM FOR OTHERS

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (Ephesians 1:17 KJV)

YOU CAN ALWAYS HAVE MORE WISDOM

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (Ephesians 1:17 KJV)

    • You can never exhaust the depths of wisdom…there’s always a greater level…

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33 KJV)

  3. 7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

Solomon was already pretty wise, the reason I say that is because he knew that there is a great difference between wisdom & knowledge. There is a lot of people that acquire knowledge but lack wisdom and there are so many people (like my grandma who never learned how to read or write but will continue to be the wiser person I have ever know) that had very little knowledge but are packed with wisdom.

Knowledge is what you know, what you have learned and wisdom is what you do with all that knowledge, how you use it, and the ability to transfer it to someone else.

There is one thing that drives me crazy is when I try to explain something to someone and they say “I know, I know you don’t have to tell me or show me again” but then when you come back it is not done as you asked; because deep inside they didn’t know they just thought they did or dislike instruction.

If you lack knowledge be wise and seek instruction from those who have it. If you lack wisdom PRAY FOR IT. Because all the knowledge of the world will never give you wisdom.

  4. 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalm 37:4 KJV)

  5. JOHN 14:13-14
13/ AND WHATEVER YE ASK IN MY NAME, THAT WILL I DO, THAT THE FATHER MAY BE GLORIFIED IN THE SON.
14/ IF YE SHALL ASK ANYTHING IN MY NAME, I WILL DO IT.

  6. Wisdom

    What is wisdom? wis·dom/ˈwizdəm/
The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.

The soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of such experience, knowledge, and good judgment.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

We should pray for wisdom and knowledge and are careful that we use wisdom when we are talking to the new converts and not judging them. It is not our place to judge that is God’s place. We are to love the sinner and not the sin and pray for the people.

  7. After praise and sacrific, God will appear. We must be willing to give God praise and sacrifice our time and treasure to come into his presence.

  8. In asking for wisdom from God instead of riches Solomon pleased God. The wisdom would carry through into places in his walk as Kind and leader that riches could not. With great wisdom Solomon gained riches. Most of us have to go through a lifetime of struggles and hurts to gain wisdom, but Solomon had it imparted to him. I ask for guidance all the time from our Pastor and when he gives the reply, even when I don’t like it or it cuts a little, I know its directly from God. This comes from 2 things; one is the wisd God has granted him and the life and struggle he has been through, two is my part. It’s me trusting the man of God that he does hear from God for me and I listen just as if Jesus himself were standing there speaking into my life. If we could really get ahold of this concept we would have a house of God that would be unparalleled by any other. Let our Man of God speak into your life as if a prayer from heaven was being answered every time he opened his mouth. See what happens!

  9. A KINGDOM REQUEST

7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

This chapter caused me to sincerely pause to consider and reflect on my prayer life. How often do I (we) go to GOD with a grocery list of personal needs and wants, without even asking HIM for eternal, supernatural guidance.

Wisdom and Knowledge to guide GOD’s people. This is a Kingdom request. The heartbeat of GOD is not to make his people rich but to have relationship with us. In Solomon’s request he willingly pused to the side his own personal desire to acquire the help of GOD in the overwhelming responsibility before him.

“Leading GOD’s people for GOD to GOD”

As a result of Solomon’s selfless request his sincere heart’s desire was to lead the people of GOD he was bountifully BLESSED and the favor of GOD promised to him. I am committed to the practice of prayer in A KINGDOM REQUEST from a heart of sincerity.

    Jesus affirmed this principal in:

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  10. From Extraordinary To One-Of-A-Kind Destiny

1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Solomon already had a measure of success when God appeared to him in the dream. He could have just rested on what he already had or told God, “no I think I can make it on my own from here…” But instead, he admitted his own weakness (needing wisdom and knowledge to lead the people) and relied not on his strength but on God’s strength made perfect in his weakness.

God saw his humble, unselfish request and blessed with that and more, taking Solomon to a new level. He went from being on track for some good things to becoming a king like no other earthly king, before or after him. God can do great things in us and through us, but we must be willing to surrender our self-will, surrender our weakness to God, and leave the comfort zone of “ordinary” or even “extraordinary” to go to the unique place of destiny God has for us.

  11. This chapter illustrates asking rightfully. Solomon had concern for the people, his heart was on others vice self, and therefore he asked of the Lord accordingly and was blessed abundantly. Once one’s concern for others becomes this important than one will also receive from the Lord more than what is asked. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. Verse 1 MSG reads “Solomon son of David took a firm grip on the reins of his kingdom. God was with him and gave him much help.”

Firm: not soft or yielding when pressed; comparatively solid, hard, stiff, or rigid: firm ground; firm texture. Securely fixed in place. Not shaking or trembling; steady. Not likely to change; fixed; settled; unalterable. Steadfast or unwavering, as persons or principles.

We need to be firm in our walk with the Lord. Do not let the devil come in and make you question anything. Be securely fixed with your eyes on Jesus. Do not alter your principles or beliefs because of pressures from friends, family or this world. The desire from Solomon’s heart was for God to grant him wisdom and knowledge to lead his people. God not only blessed Solomon with both; but, also gave him a bonus of money, wealth and fame.

Solomon was king, ruler of all israel, but he did not allow pride and position to keep him from getting the help he needed. He went to the altar before the Lord. The verse before said he and the congregation sought unto it. How else can a “leader” lead someone to the cross if we haven’t visited it ourselves? It is important for each of us to seek out an altar before the Lord so we may commune with Him and find the direction He has for us each day. Once we have been there we can take others. You can’t lead someone farther than you have personally been. Let us seek out the Lord today and everyday. Let’s follow our leaders, pastor and sis watts, example.

  14. 6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

    WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!

Solomon, had just given this huge sacrificial offering, and was in a dark place. How many times have we been in the same place? Had a great service, gave a large sacrificial offering, just to find that later that same day, or the next we end up in a bad spot? That’s what just happened here. Solomon did what we should do, though we often miss, he continued.
God came in, during this dark time, and asked what Solomon wanted. Again here is where many of us miss out (because we ask to get out of our dark situation). Solomon asks for wisdom. He wants to be able to help God’s people, the hurting and hungry souls that are all around him…. I have to wonder if I had asked for wisdom to reach the lost reigion around me, how much different would my walk be? Would I still have to struggle with the same things that I battle with on a daily basis?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Because Solomon was willing to lay his own fleshly desires to the side, and answer with an answer that was humble, selfless, and seeking the betterment of the people of God, Solomon, now the man of God, was able to recieve not only the answer to his prayers, but also was blessed above his wildest imagination.

  15. ILove to eat lunch with Jesus

    I married Wisdom

The name “Sonya” is of Russian origin and it means “Wisdom”. It’s a name commonly given to girls.
According to the 1957 U.S. Social Security Administration data, the name “Sonya” is not a popular baby girl’s name in Indiana. Imagine that, only 15 babies in Indiana have the same name as you in 1957.( WE NEED MORE WISDOM CHURCH)

  16. United worship and sacrificial praise offerings from pure hearts will draws the Lord closer. This type of worship and praise is very selfless. It’s for the whole body of believers benefit when we come together with selfless worship and praise. Once the Lord draws near we can make our request know. Just as Solomon’s request was for the betterment of the kingdom, we must request for the Gifts of the Spirit to be active and in operation in every service “So that there should be no division or discord or lack of adaptation [of the parts of the body to each other], but the members all alike should have a mutual interest in and care for one another.” (1 Corinthians 12:25 AMP)

  17. 11-12
Gods response to Solomon reminds us when our priorities are right God is free to bless us . Wealth and glory are not to be goals that we should have. But if when we set our hearts on the Lord he also gives us wealth and can rejoice in his gifts

  18. I love that whenever Solomon doesnt know what to do as an young and inexperienced king he runs to the altar vs6 and begins to praise and sacrifice to the Lord. In Saul’s time he ran to a spiritist woman to bring up Samuels spirit to speak to him. Instead of Solomon doing something dumb like leaning on wickedness, in a time of uncertainty he followed his fathers example of going before the Lord. At that moment he must have felt alone, and uncertain of what to do, or who to turn to. I’m sure that we can all relate, and learn from Solomons choice. His choice lead to God being pleased and unlocking the flow of blessing to enter his life, which he could chose from also. There are many choices in life, the more we know our Saviour the more we know the correct choices to make. When we do we will be able to recieve that which we ask for, and that which we did not.

  19. In asking God for wisdom ,instead of material things,Solomon pleased the Lord.We need to always ask God to give us wisdom in the things that we say and do each day.God will give us wisdom to be great soul winners and great servants in working for the kingdom of God.He wants us to use our time, money, and our labor WISEly for him, then He will bless us greatly in so many other ways!!

  20. 6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

Solomon probably needed that cattle. He probably felt a great bit of pain from the loss of resources. Yet his attitude was that of humility and surrender.

I believe that the attitude Solomon had prompted the extraordinary blessing from God.

  21. Vs 1/ is a very nice word from the Lord to my heart. It says that God was with solomon and magnified or was proud towards him.
Rhis confirms that no matter what we go thru God is wirh us (me). And we are still very important to Him.
Thank you Jesus. I love you too and magnify your name and who you are the same or more than anything.

  22. 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. -Proverbs 4:7

God is our source! If we seek him and the things if his Kingdom he will surely bring to pass: Proverbs 16:16

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! –

  23. v 12 ” Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee:”

The fear of the LORD will let us know, understand do and walk in wisdom. We must draw the line where GOD SAYS draw the line (standards). GOD still has ALL THE POWER
We must continue to humble and submit to
    HIS WORD.

  24. 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Solomon was wise in the request he made to God. He asked God to grant him wisdom and understanding to be able to go out and come in amoung his people. God gave him that and so much more. He desired the good gifts of God and he was blessed abundantly. So should our hearts and minds desire the good gifts of God in everything that we do.

  25. The Lord grants Solomon his wish, he blesses him abundantly. How awesome is the Lord. The Lord knows Solomon is able to lead Israel but he will need some help. He has his back just as long as he follows his commands and submits to him.

  26. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

    Proverbs 9:9
9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning.

10 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.

11 For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased. Amplified Version

  27. The Blessing of the Unselfish Heart.

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: 12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

I am also reminded of another unselfish act in the Bible, where Jesus laid down His life so that I might live again.

  28. 7 That night God appeared to Solomon. God said, “What do you want from me? Ask.”

What do you want from God?
Everybody needs to make a wise choice. Something this awesome may not come twice.
