2 Chronicles 2

1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,

Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because theLord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.

12 Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.

15 Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:

16 And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.

17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.

18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

WE ARE FIXING TO BUILD THE NEW TEMPLE.

  2. Nothing but the BEST!!!!!

5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

We should give, build, and do nothing but the very best for our God is Great and Greatly to be Praised. Everything we do, we do it unto God, so everything we do should be done to the best of our abilities. Do it expecting Jesus Himself to inspect what you have done; if we all work with that attitude we will have nothing but the best. For every seed gives the fruit that it’s supposed to give. An apple seed will give only apples; therefore the Best work will only have you reap the Best Blessings.

  3. I love going to hear our pastor and hear the beautiful music sounds angelic from Sis. Watts. I had to mourn from not going to church yesterday I regret everytime I miss.I came upon a scripture today that opens my eyes.
    Matthew 20:26-28
    But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be geeat among you, let him be your minister;
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Thank you pofw for ransoming your life for us ,kingdom minded.

Huram said morever, Blessed be the Lord God of Isreal, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and a house for his kingdom.
Thank you Jesus for people that always are KINGDOM MINDED, and UNDERSTANDING.

  4. 4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

The purpose of the house of God is first to burn the sweet insense of praise to his holy name.
The second was the continual shewbread which signified the face of God and his spirit .
The next is a sacrifice. If you come to the house of the Lord he expects you to bring a sacrifice. It’s not really an “if you want to thing” here. So Praise, seek, and sacrifice

  5. A house of worship in HONOR OF GOD

9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

    Glory to God!!!!!

King Huran knew the heart of king David, and now Working together with King Solomon. All for the Kingdom Of God.
You can see once again the planning, the preparation, and the Passion!! There was Vision, and it began with King David, and it was placed into King Solomon. And now today we as the POFW holding on to the Vision and the heart of my Pastor Micheal Watts, labouring together with Him. But it is also my hearts desire to work closer to him. To do as he does. To closely follow Him as He follows Christ!

John 9:4 ‘ I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

    iWork
    Ipray

  6. This chapter illustrates together. Solomon and Huram communicated the goal and purposed together on the task to be accomplished. One will see great and mighty things take place when all come together with the man of God to accomplish the task that the Lord placed on his heart. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  7. Determination in someones life becomes apparent quickly. When we are determined we begin to get things done.

1And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Our fruit will show when we are determined to do the will of God.

  8. 13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

This multi-talented man sent to Solomon was not named in these scriptures. The goal was to build a name for the God of all gods and not to name a man. He was a man critical to building the Temple’s ornate features, but was a laborer hired along with those designated to carry the timbers from the sea to Jerusalem. Each person had (& has today) a critical part to play – for without one type of labor, the job could not have been completed! While we give honor to whom honor is due, we all labor together to build the Kingdom of God. I am thankful to do my part!

  9. v6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Psalms 113:6. Says that the LORD humbleth himself to behol the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
    v7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunhhill;
v8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
v9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house ,and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

Build a place in your heart of worship unto the LORD in spirit and in truth, and offer a sacrifice of Praise! The resources and results will be amazing .
Our GREAT GOD IS SPIRIT . HE is beyond our thinking . We must worship HIM in spirit and in truth. v 11 ” Because the LORD hath loved His people,”
    iPray
iWorship HIM in spirit and in truth

  10. The beginning part of verses 5-10 MSG reads “The house I am building has to be the best, for our God is the best, far better than competing gods. But who is capable of building such a structure? Why, the skies—the entire cosmos!—can’t begin to contain him. And me, who am I to think I can build a house adequate for God—burning incense to him is about all I’m good for! I need your help………”

This reminds me of a song we sang when I was little:

When we all pull together, together, together
When we all pull together, how happy we’ll be.
For your work is my work
and our work is God’s work
When we all pull together, how happy we’ll be.

  11. And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

The gifting of administration is definitely at work as Solomon oversees the building of the House for the Lord to dwell in.

This scripture sets an example to me of the Ministry Opportunities at POFW. Everyone given an assigned task to work to make the ministry flow, as they work in an area that they choose for the Kingdom of God.

  12. Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. KJV

It is time I (we) come together in unity and in families and build a temple that the Lord wants to dwell in.

  13. 5 And the house which I build is great:for great is our God above all gods.

God’s house should be the best we can build, because its a place we gather to worship and praise and give honor unto the God that that has saved us.

  14. as i read this passage, i am so thankful that i obeyed God when i asked HIM what He wanted me to do at POFW. i hesitated to sign up for the teacher assistant because i wasnt sure if i had what was needed in me but by the Grace of God, He told me if you dont have it then i will put it in you. all i had and have to do is ask and receive. i want to learn all that God is willing to let me learn, i want to step into the place where God wants to use me, no matter the fear that may or may not arrise, i have to do what i am able to do and let God be God. i will always have praise on my lips for God because without Him i would be lost, wondering in the wilderness. been there and done that and i wont go back. God bless each and every one of you…….

  15. THE PLAN THE PURPOSE AND THE PRODUCTION

    THE PLAN
1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Vision, creativity and provision are all key components of planning. We must see what GOD is revealing (Vision). We are challenged to design or plan it in a way that in pleasing to GOD and helpful to man. (Creativity) Finally there is the how, where and why. (Provision)

    THE PURPOSE
4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

If we are building a church or a ministry within a church the single most imperative reason must be for the LORD. If we are building it for the LORD we must allow HIM to build it “through” us. A ministry is not a ministry unless he builds it, (calls, sends, and confirms). JESUS IS THE PURPOSE

    THE PRODUCTION
7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

    Nobody can do it alone!

Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

The production requires the greatest level of commitment and involvement.

Jesus Built This Temple; And Didn’t Even Need the Governments’ Help

THE ESTIMATED COST OF BUILDING SOLOMONS TEMPLE TODAY IS $175 billion dollars.

THE ESTIMATED COST OF BUILDING MY TEMPLE…priceless

My temple was built with the blood of Jesus…

    KEEPING THE TEMPLE HOLY

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 KJV)

  17. 3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

Solomon had contacts due to his father. Pastor has contacts due to Bro Foster and Bro Fielding. We have contacts passed down from Pastor. God allows us to meet many people who are able to help, guide, teach and push us to grow and excell. David left Solomon a contact who didn’t know how to do the work, but knew someone else who did. We have to be not only willing to ask for help but also willing to accept the help that we are given.

  18. 7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.
10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

To Get The Best We Must Give The Best

The world tells us that you get what you pay for, and Solomon understood this. Solomon Gave much, that he might get the king to send someone of great skill to come help. Solomon had a long grocery list of materials he wanted to get so that he could add to what David had started preparing for.

How did we ever get started on the conclusion that if we give a little, God will give us a bunch? The word tells us that we get back in the same measure in which we give. Solomon gave much. David, his father, gave much. Two of the biggest kings in the Bible, both gave much. Why do we think we shouldn’t?

While we are taught to be good stuards, we also must be willing to pay others fair wages for their work. Many times I have seen and heard others talk about church people, and how they are cheap, and penny pinchers. Being a good stuard is more than whatching what we spend, but it also means, we are fair. A wise person will keep up with the people who do a good job, so that they might use them again, and will keep up with those who don’t as well, so they don’t use them again. Well workers do the same. A fair person will get someone to help faster than a cheap person. A generous person will have people fight to work for them, and will have their choice of workers. As the church we must recognize this, because people are watching us.

Ye have not because ye ask not. Solomon did not allow pride of being king keep him from asking a neighboring king for help. The resources were there for the temple it just needed to be asked for. Solomon also had favor in his life thanks to his father, so he did not have to fight for what was needed just make a request and let the work of the Lord be made known.
sometimes in our situations, God has made provision for us and its up to us to go get it. With Gods favor we do not need to worry about a struggle, just ask and receive.

  20. 3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

Solomon’s words to Huram were full of praise to God. The king of Tyre agreed to go in league with Solomon. Solomon’s dedication to God, and willlingness to boldly proclaim his power, and majesty was a testimony to Huram.

In 1 Kings chapter 5 Huram is referred to as Hiram. The name Hiram means noble.

This alliance between Solomon and Hiram catapulted the phonecian city of Tyre to the largest trade city in the country. Not only did Solomon receive the necessary tools, and tradesman to build the temple, but the association made Hiram, the chief architect wealthy and very powerful.

When God begins to bless, those who align themselves with the vision of the Kingdom will be blessed beyond measure.

    1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

  21. Vs. 5-6, ” And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him? ”

These verses made me think of the verses found in Isaiah 66:1-2. ” Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”

  22. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.
My thought is focused on the word determined, this indicates a mindset of purpose and willingness to put forth effort. In this case, a house is physically being built for the Lord but what about today? How many people have really determined to build a spiritual house for the Lord? Know Ye not that you are not your own but have been bought with a price? Our temple should built for the Lord because his name has been applied to it by his blood. I’m thankful to be his!

  23. 17And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. 18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work. (2 Chronicles 2:17, 18 KJV)

    That’s a lot of workers!

God send us workers that will work diligently to build the house of God at PoFW!

  24. 17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.

We are but strangers in this world.

  25. Faith

3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (James 2:17 KJV)

There was appointment, direction, provision, and blessing, yet with all this it was still up to Solomon to choose to allow it to happen. He engaged his faith and started moving forward in God’s will, and the pieces all started falling in place with each step of the way. We can’t always wait for everything to be perfect and make sense, sometimes all we know is the next step we are supposed to take but have no clue what lies beyond that.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105 KJV)

It doesn’t say “Thy word is a lamp unto my seat, and a light unto my recliner.” God is about us moving forward, not becoming stagnant. No matter if God gives us the whole plan or just the next step, we must be willing to step out in faith to follow His path and move forward.

    iBelieve
    iGo

  26. 4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

We are the temple of the Holy Ghost. There should be sweet incense(prayer) shewbread(Word of God) and offerings (sacrifices) in our Temples.

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, -Acts 7:48

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? -1 Corinthians 6:19

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, -Jude 1:20

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. -Ephesians 2:22

  27. What’s gonna work? Team Work!

18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

Solomon has signs of good leadership. He knew that the building project was bigger than him. So he delegated responsibly so he could stay focused on the big picture.

Thank you Jesus for our leadership at POFW! I have witnessed the following steps in successful delegation from our great POFW leadership.

Here are 6 steps for delegating successfully:

    1. Know What You Want.
If you don’t know what you want, you can’t expect anyone else to. No one can be a “mind reader.”

    2. Express What You Want Clearly.
It’s important to give people a clear vision of what you want. What are your goals? What do you need done? Providing instructions can be helpful too, but don’t overdo that aspect of it. The most important thing is that you express everything you want very clearly.

    3. Set Expectations.
It’s not enough that you’ve told someone what you want. Make sure expectations are laid on the table. “This will be successful if X, Y and Z happen.” And, “I need X, Y and Z finished by Friday.”

    4. Trust.
You need to trust those people you delegate to, otherwise you’ll worry too much, micro-manage and generally make a nuisance of yourself.

    5. Let Them Do It Their Way.
You do things your way, and everyone else has to do it exactly the same way or else. Right? Wrong. Let people do things their way (remember the trust?) More importantly, provide enough flexibility that they can add their own flavor to the mix. Let them create. Let them add unique touches to what they’re doing.

    6. Communicate and Follow-Up.
Delegating doesn’t mean abandoning someone to do something until it’s complete. You want to be communicating throughout the process (rinse and repeat steps 1-4) and following-up with people to make sure everything is going smoothly. This isn’t about over-managing, over-analyzing and standing over people’s shoulders staring at their computer screens. At the same time, we don’t want to manage with a Jell-O Fist. Communication is key, setting measurable mini-goals along the way, and carefully but not over-zealously monitoring progress.

  28. Solomon has a big responsibility and knows he will need more help to accomplish his goals. He doesn’t appear to have any pride, without complaint he prepares all the thousands of workers to built the house of the Lord including his own.

Lord use me and guide me to do your will.

  29. Solomon diplomatically pursues the political relationship David, his father, started with King Hiram of Tyre (1 Ki 5:11) and in doing so offers us an example of a wise interaction with others who may not agree with our political or spiritual ideology.

From Hiram, Solomon requests the service of a skilled craftsmen and orders logs of “cedar, pine and algum” 1 Ch 2:8 to use in building the temple. The fragrant cedars of Lebanon are resistant to rot and superior to the lumbers avaliable in Israel. Pine trees (perhaps cypress) would serve as a pliable wood required for construction. The rare algum (possibly from red sandalwoods) is used as paneling and for musical instruments. Hiram makes Tyre, a city along the Great Sea (now called the Mediterranean Sea), a major seaport and himself a respected wolrd trader. He floats the logs from Tyre down the seacoast 90 miles to Joppa and them Solomons men transport them over the 35 mile pass to Jerusalem. This is alot of work for the transport of wood alone. The important thing to be remembered here is that Solomons task of building the temple for the Lord is that it is for God and not for man. It wasnt supposed to please us.. the task was to please the Lord. Our task is the same to do all things to please the Lord and hard work is a major factor.

  30. 5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

We work together to build the house of faith, praise, and worship.

  31. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Solomon has determined in his heart that he would build a house to the glory of God. He made up in his mind to do something and he did it. So should we in our lives make up our mind to do the work of God in our lives. Whatever we have purposed in ourselves to do we need to do it with all our heart.
