2 Chronicles 8

1 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of the Lord, and his own house,

That the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

And Solomon went to Hamathzobah, and prevailed against it.

And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store cities, which he built in Hamath.

Also he built Bethhoron the upper, and Bethhoron the nether, fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;

And Baalath, and all the store cities that Solomon had, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the land of his dominion.

As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel,

But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

10 And these were the chief of king Solomon’s officers, even two hundred and fifty, that bare rule over the people.

11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

12 Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had built before the porch,

13 Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

14 And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.

15 And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was perfected.

17 Then went Solomon to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, at the sea side in the land of Edom.

18 And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.

  1. v11 Pharaoh’s daughter represents Egypt
    And Egypt represents the world.
” that’s why she could not live in the house of David king of Israel because the places are holy , whereunto the ark of LORD hath come.”

This verse tells that when we come into the presence of the LORD we have to pour our souls out, empty out. We have been involved in just life existence and there is turmoil in our hearts. Fighting a world that’s hostile to the Spirit. James 4:4 says,” The world is the enemy of GOD.”
I also want to have respect for GODS HOLINESS, as Solomon did. So to me this means that holiness is not something you get but something you get rid off.
Heb. 12:1 says ” Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us.”

I must escape everything around me. Stinking carnal thinking, worldliness . Another words get the world out before I can come into HIS PRESENCE.

One of the most wonderful times is when we spend time alone with GOD. Nobody ringing the phone nobody knocking at the door.
We all need the Love and Mercy Of GOD.
Were’er in changing times and prayer is not always easy. We must sacrifice it’s a must.
I want to be a house for the KING OF KINGS to dwell in.
    iPray
    iGive Thanks

The House of the Lord Perfected

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. (Hebrews 10:14 KJV)

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 KJV)

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James 1:4 KJV)

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Ephesians 4:12 KJV)

    • 16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was perfected.

  3. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

Solomon wasn’t supposed to marry woman of other cultures. Being unequally yolked is not something easy to bear. There are always storms caused by the difference of believes, culture, and language. It takes a lot to make a marriage like that works. If making a marriage with an equal is hard when you are unequally yolked it takes double the work. It takes a lot of prayer, tears, intersections in the spirit, & if you are a woman which owe submission and respect to your husband it is even harder.

I say this so ALL the young ladies & young man will open their eyes, make sure that the one you choose to share the rest of you life with comes with the same believe you have, have grown spiritually at the same rate, and loves the Lord our God with all their heart, all their mind, and all their soul.
Make sure they are baptist in Jesus Name, got the Holy Ghost, & watch the way they worship; for the way they worship shows their love for God.
Do not settle for nothing else but what God has in stored for you.

  4. MSG – He followed the practice of his father David in setting up groups of priests carrying out the work of worship, with the Levites assigned to lead the sacred music for praising God and to assist the priests in the daily worship;

Instruction to the Music Ministry – Solomon assigned the levites to lead the sacred music for praising God in daily worship. Our responsibility as part of the music ministry is so important. It is a “ministry” designed and ordained of God. We cannot take our participation lightly. We must be prepared spiritually to go to deeper places in God, so that we can lead people to that deeper place. We have been chosen to carry out a great responsbility. We must be in unity! We must possess passion and a hunger for prayer and worship, and we must be an example to those we are leading.

  5. Vs 11/ And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

It is a blessing from the Lord when another believer sees another believer going thru the trials of life and they can pull and “bring” them out of distress into the house of the Lord’s, for healing deliverance and restoration. That’s what this sceipture represents to me….that when we see anyone in bondage that rhe annoiting of our voice (from God’s Holy Ghost in us ) can speak thru us to someone else and being them to a place that is Holy -God’s house to be in a Holy atmosphere, of where God resides in.
Thank you Lord for you’re Holiness so that I might be Holy too.:)

  6. vs 11 It appears that Solomon knew he should not have married this woman as he could not let her live in a holy place. If the marriage had been proper, I do not think that it would have been bad for her to live in the city of David.

  7. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places
are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

If you wanna find that perfect and holy mate then get so close to God that the one you are looking for has to get close to God to find you. Don’t settle for anything less than you deserve and don’t hurry into a marriage just because everyone else is marrying. God will send that perfect mate when it is time.

  8. DONT BRING THE WORLD IN MY FATHERS HOUSE

11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

It has been witnessed time and time again over the generations, mans attempt to hide sinful, worldly habits. The thought patterns and processes that say “i will keep this relationship over here away from the church because it would not be accepted”. This is exactly what Solomon did here in verse 11. There are a few principals that we can identify from the “unwise decision” of the worlds “wisest man”.

    1. Wisdom is not a guarantee of success or righteousness. Regardless of how smart or wise the individual, a choice must be made.

    2. The meaning of Pharaoh: that disperses; that spoils. The King of Egypt. Solomon knew his fathers were miracuouly delivered from the bondage of Egypt, which is a type of the “world” . James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

    3. GOD commands us to be holy, “set apart” separate from the world. 2Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. Solomon knew this marriage to Pharaohs daughter was unacceptable in GOD’s sight so he “thought” he would just keep it away form GOD. (How FOOLISH)

    4. Solomon used enough wisdom to keep the unclean away from his Fathers house; however he failed to consider what the cost or end result of his destiny would be. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

GOD help us today to remember and commit to DONT BRING THE WORLD IN MY FATHERS HOUSE. In Jesus name.

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

  9. This chapter illustrates appointment. All had an appointed place to work and to serve. Solomon’s wife had an appointed place to live, and the king followed the appointed time that Moses commanded on when to offer sacrifices. One today still receives appointments; as such it should be considered an honor and responsibility to fulfill any appointment that the Lord may have, and that the man of God may assign. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  10. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

Solomon was wise in understanding that he could not bring the unclean into the House but foolish in his relationship with her. Not only was he unequally yoked but he had to take his efforts and build her a house.
How often are we distracted by those things we have allowed into our lives that does not flow with the spirit of God and we focus our efforts to build a place of habitation for our “distractions” instead of focusing those efforts on the work of the father?

Father help me to remove the distractions and focus my efforts on building your house and my house.

1 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of the Lord, and his

  11. The beginning of this chapter talks about all the accomplishments of Solomon. When you are obedient and stay close to God, he will take you higher than you could ever imagine. The beginning of verse 14 MSG reads “He followed the practice of his father David……” Solomon knew his father had a very special close relationship with God and he wanted that too.

  12. Solomon had so much knowledge he built he temple and his house, it took him years to make the way he wanted it. He continued to build other buildings.

He followed commands that his father David had given him. He even went out of his way to find him a wife from the outside. I can see how amongst all the good he was doing the enemy was in the mist of he planning. Solomon didn’t think twice about taking Pharoah’s daughter he could and he did. Solomon didn’t expect anything bad to happen from the choices he was making. He wasn’t perfect, he didn’t seek God about choosing a wife from the outside. Once he let the enemy into his home, he had bad spirits and if he didn’t know to fight them and get rid of the enemy then he was bound to fall into the pit of the enemies gate.

Solomon was wise, knowledgeable all he had to do was to seek God when it came to choosing a wife. The most important choice of his life and he didn’t do it. Unfortunately we pay for our mistakes on the long run.

    Lord I seek you.

  13. THE PERFECT HOUSE
v16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished So the house of the LORD was perfected.

The building is not the problem. Beautiful buildings won’t save or heal anybody.
It’s better to be in a fence corner somewhere and have GOD. Than a beautiful building without HIM.

I’m reminded of Acts 3:2 about the lame man whom was laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called BEAUTIFUL.
( He was asking for dirt when he could have his healing.)
So all the beauty of the gate could not pick up the man and put him inside.
” And Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the Name of JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH rise up and walk.”

HE has given us HIS NAME and ALLTHEPOWER THAT GOES WITH IT.
Thank you JESUS! No one and no circumstances can take it way from us.
    This picks us up.
With JESUS in the house then the house of the LORD IS PERFECTED.
Praise GOD HE IS OUR PERFECTION
    iPray
    iWorship

  14. My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:15, 16 KJV)

I dare not come to my Lord with uncleaned heart, hands or lips. I’m thankful today for His mercy and grace.

  15. ***Wow*** “Stick with the Church”….Take a look at the next versus and see the importance of obeying the proper order of things. Following the annoiting, and standfast to the faith, and doing what the man of God commanded. You also can see the importance of Praise, hands, feet, and not departing from the treasures. Until it was finished, so the house of the Lord was perfected. “Awaiting my Harvest”…guess what? It’s going to be brought to me. 450 talents of gold……Good bye Poverty Mentality…”Above all things, that you may prosper and be of good health, as your soul prosperous.”, “Amen, and Amen.”

18 And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.

  16. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

In here Solomon knew his actions… What screams out here, like Solomon, many of us still make the wrong choice and decide for what we know it’s not right in the eyes of the Lord and then go off and try to hide it as if the Almighty will not see it. It is very clear that Solomon knew what he was doing, and that he was doing wrong by marrying a woman who was not from the people of God. He knew the Holiness of God, yet still decided for the uncleaness of “Egypt” the “world” the land or the previous state, wether it be sin, bondages, courses,…etc, where they were brought out from. At the beginning of that “decision” everything seems ok..the carnal desire was satisfied but the end result was a way of “death” Solomon had many wives and concubines, but I do believe that he never experienced that “love” as he talks about in Song of Solmon. Perhaps something he admired but never recieved as a result of his bad decision/sin.
It is all about choice God will not force you to love Him. God will not force to follow His ways. God will only try to make you see the love that is so freely there…

“Choose to sin, choose to suffer.
When God says don’t He means don’t hurt yourself”-J McD

We all know the end result of Solomon and how his heart went astray after other gods. Becareful that you may open any open door for other things to come to cause to fall away from the paths of God

  17. One of Solomons major failures is refliected here. He married many wives but Pharaohs is not mentioned critically. Instead he is praised for not bringign her into Davids palace where the ark had stood. How gracious of God to forgive and forget our sins and to rember our pious acts forever.

  18. 7 As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel,

8 But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

God had told Israel to get rid of these people before. Yet, just like Saul keep the king and animals alive for personal gain, Solomon chooses to keep these people alive for tribute.

  19. Solomon was determined to build God’s house. When the Lord gives us a job to do, we should be determined to complete the task. There is always a blessing in store when we obey the commandments of God.

  20. Solomon’s wife was not allowed in the house because she was from Egypt. Egypt represents sin and carnality. His wife was brought out her sin/Egypt, but she could not be in the chosen houses.

  21. Wise but Foolish:
9 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

Solomon had wisdom to keep his palaces and store cities guarded and in the hands of men of war, but was foolish to have married the Pharoah’s daughter-knowing full well how the children of Israel had been in bondage to them over 400 years! So what seemed wise by keeping his wife out of the holy places was merely a cover up for his foolish decision to marry her in the 1st place.
Now, on bringing the world into God’s house: the one time I went to hear Bro Huntley preach in Dallas (years ago) at a very large church with a brand new bulding to worship in, I could not help but notice how much the saints that worshipped there looked like the world-there didn’t (to my eyes) seem like there was any separation; they sang the same songs and all, but when it was time for Bro Huntley to preach, he did something unexpected. He said he did not feel the liberty to preach in that building and from what I remember, he mentioned that the building was beautiful but had a spirit about it. He didn’t really apologize to the large crowd from all over this metroplex, but told them he owed them one and so forth, but bottom line-something was wrong. I am not the judge by any means, but we must not bring the world into the church-especially as we grow and reach out to our community. We must stay in the word and never remove the old landmarks that have been bought by the blood of Jesus and the saints that have gone before us & have fought & died for this gospel!

  22. Solomon made provision for the people. He placed his armies where he knew they would be best placed at. As did Solomon, so does God with us. He places us where we will best be used by Him for Him. God knows what He’s doing.

  23. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

I have read this many times but missed Solomon’s response about his wife. Solomon went into this relationship with his eyes wide open. Though he was a wise man he did not put it into action.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. -Proverbs 4:7

  24. Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was perfected.

Form the foundatin to the finish.

No matter how beatiful a house is, if the foundation isnt just right your in trouble from the begining and nothing else will stand.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Jesus is the lamb slain from the foundation and he is the rock on which his temple stands:

    And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

The truth is the foundation of the temple:

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

and Jesus was the foundation and the finished work:

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

  25. All the people left from the Hitties, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites (these people were not Israelites), that is, their decendants remaining in the land, whom the Israelites had not destroyed- these Solomon conscripted for his slave labor force.. but Solomon did not make slaves of the Israelites for his work…” vs 8-9 Solomon understood that the remaining people whom previous kings and soldiers failed to exterminate still live amongst them. Since we know that Solomons reign is a time of peace, I can see why he decided to make them the slave labor. If they had been overcome then they would not be the sand in Solomon’s shoe nor the labor to build the temple. They were the decendants of those left behind, now they have been reduced to slave labor. Everything happens for a reason, I can see God’s purpose here of building a temple unto the Lord. Instead the Israelites had the privledge to be fighting men, commanders and captains. Leaving room for the Israelites to supervise. Slaves are a part of the ancient culture, where they were widely used. The Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians, God delivered them, and here the Gentiles were slaves during the construction of the temple. I believe in turn God blesses them, later allowing Genitles a place in the book of Life.

Lev 26:13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright. 14But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; 15And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant KJV
~at this point they were still under the law, but once Jesus our redeemer was resurrected, the script changed. Therefore: 3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Gal 4:3-7

  26. Oh the Blood…

8 But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

I am reminded of the story of Ruth. She was an outsider, yet God stepped in as her Redeemer and she was blessed, being the great grandmother of king David and ancestor of Christ.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:38, 39 KJV)

Thank God for the Blood that washes white as snow! Thank God for the gift of His Holy Spirit! There is hope for those afar off, whether afar off by heritage, sin, culture, life circumstance, etc.

  27. I beleive Solomon was blessed because He did not make servants of Israel but blessed Israel and made them mighty warriors in the kingdom.

  28. 11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.

Though many times the world will have it’s temptations, just as Egypt had, the wages of sin is death…..

  29. 16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was perfected.

Solomon kept God’s house a priority in his life he first built God’s house then he built his own. He kept God first in everything he did and that is why I believe the blessing of God was with him.
