Ezra 4

1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto theLord God of Israel;

Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:

Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,

10 And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.

11 This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.

12 Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.

13 Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.

14 Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

15 That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.

16 We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

17 Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.

18 The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.

19 And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.

20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.

21 Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.

22 Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

23 Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

  1. Many times lies are told against God’s people. We should be slow to believe what we might hear about fellow Christians. Gossip is a terrible thorn in the side of a body of believers.

  2. 5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
I feel this verse is talking about the attacks we as POFW and individuals are getting today. The devil is mad cause we have went to his camp and we are taking back what he stole from us. We are going to two services to accomondate for more people. If the devil is fighthing us then we must be doing something right. If people can get us frustrated with other people and try to be division among us then we lose our focus. Keep your focus on God and where Pastor is leading us.

6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
OH my how this verse goes back to Pastors preaching sunday nite on digging the wells. Yes several of us has been falsely accuse, but that is the devil’s tatics to see if he can pull you away from the vision of our Pastor and from doing what God has called you to do.
We as humans when we get lied upon, talked about and run over when we are done we seem to want to have a pity party. I have learned and from the teachings of Pastor God is not in a pity party. If you are honest with yourself you have had one some time in your life. But at the scrtipure says God himself was talked about and spit upon. So when these things come up against us Greater is he that is in me than he that in the world. God has our backs as long as we are doing what we are suppose to be doing. God is not the author of confusion but of love and a sound mind. God help us not to be a stumbling block and cause someone to fall out with God. Don’t listen to a pity party shut it down when it comes to you. We don’t have time to sit and talk about the church, people and leaders and elders. Its time we square our shoulders back and raise our banners high for the bible is our weapon and the spirit is our shield, the church needs more of its members to be workers in the field. It’s time to step into the water and wade out a little bit deeper.
If God be for us who can be against us!!!!

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV
Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands” (Matthew 26:67
I feel like we as christians and men and women of God when we go against our Pastor/leaders/elders of the church or turn our backs on him curifify God all over again. God help us to do what you have called POFW to do.

    • Please help me Jesus…teaching me helps to go forward to be a better Christian to be a light for someone else who is hurting or doesnt know God…
Thank yoy sister u said it perfect and very gosly…in Jesus’ name.

  3. DO NOT LOSE HOPE!!! KEEP BUILDING!!!

    1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto theLord God of Israel;

2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Philippians 1:19-20 NLT For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance. 20 For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.

So lets not let the advisory get you down or ashamed, stand tall, be BOLD for Christ, Tell ALL TARRANT County what the Truth is. Do not be weary, work, ipray, igive, iwork, & ireap.

  4. The enemy will always try to oppose GOD’S plans and will try to stop the work of the believers; but thank GOD FOR THE BLOOD
    the enemy has been defeated.
GOD called us out of sin and darkness to a life of victory and purpose. As the early church we will gladly and faithfully fulfil the work the LORD has given the POFW to do.
We have something wonderful and special up look forward to. We will keep building for JESUS! Just as HE intends that we come together for worship, praise, thanksgiving , edification, teaching, evangelism, training, fellowship, and accountability .

In doing so this stomps out the enemy and canal thinking that only exalts self, and destroys unity with strife, jealousy, and lies.

No one can stop what GOD has begun.
Keep on lifting JESUS! Keep on praising !
Keep on shouting !Keep on rejoicing !
    Keep on working!

  5. ILove to imagine that I’m eatting breakfast with Jesus

The enemy is asking POFW if he can help us build a larger temple to seat more people. We’ve seen alot of imitators in the last few weeks wanting to be apart of the BODY (in appearance only.)

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

  6. KEEP DIGGING

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

It is the desire of the adversary to devise a plan to unequally yoke himself with the church to seduce the people of GOD into believing that he really wants to help. However the bible teaches us that the Holy Ghost is a revealer of all things. GOD reveals false spirits to those that seek HIM and inquire of HIM.

When we REJECT the or the offerings of the adversary, there are 2 things that happen:

    1. Strife – the true spirit of the adversary arises. Troubling the people of GOD and frustrating their purpose.

    2. Accusation – Letters, text messages, social media posts will be written to bring accusation against the people of GOD.

Thank GOD for a DIVINE WORD in DUE SEASON

KEEP DIGGING until the well flows again.

Genesis 26:19 And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

Genesis 26:20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

    Esek – strife

21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

    Sitnah – accusation

22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

    Rehoboth – broad place; peace

  7. Nehemiah 2 In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”

I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?”

Then I prayed to the God of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”

6 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.

7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. 9 So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king’s letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.

10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

Although the enemy did ill to the people of Isreal, all it took to begin the rebuilding was one man SERVING faithfully in captivity for the king not only to restart the rebuilding process, but for him to pay for it also.

Thank you pofw for teaching me to be holy by God’s Word. God is good. And always a beautiful Jesus.

  8. This chapter illustrates committed. The adversaries of Judah and Benjamin were fearful of them because of the Lord (Jesus); else wise they would have paid them no mind. Because of this they did everything possible too hinder them and their progress in building the house of the Lord. One must be mindful that the deceiver and those that follow his ways are still fearful today an as such they will do everything possible too hinder the work of the Lord. One must not fear for the Lord is in control and those that are steadfast and follow his Word will reap their reward from the one true God, Jesus. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  9. 16 We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

The enemy wants to stop the people of Fort Worth from building the kingdom of God. However, the devil is a lie! Read it this way instead.

When this city is built, and the walls are built up, then revival will come to the city, lives will be saved, people will be changed, and the lad will be healed!

Don’t stop! The time is Now!

  10. 4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Wow this looks alot like what the devil is trying to do in this church. He wants to frustrate what God is doing and hinder the progress that we are trying to achive!! But we have already rebuked the spirit of the Panther that has tried to hinder us and we are believing God for victory over our adversary!!
    KEEP DIGGING!!!

  11. 2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

All men will be drawn unto God. You are a light to this world. People see the light that is in you, and they are attracted to it. Be a light for Jesus.

  12. 1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto theLord God of Israel;

2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

Many times the enemy will see us being blessed as we continue to work for the kingdom, and he’ll want to not only steal our blessings, but also to keep you from being able to continue working for God….

  13. 2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

Not everyone and everything coming to us in the name of help is actually there to help as they say. We must be careful of worldly influence, especially when it tries to come in the form of being a fellow “believer.” Discern a believer by the foundation; if they do not truly rest on Christ and the full gospel, then we should be careful about letting them help us build on our True foundation. God has a structure in place for His work that allows for protection, provision, and blessing, but we must do it according to His way.

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (Psalm 127:1 KJV)

With the foundation laid, it’s time to be ready for the building, and the only successful way to do that is God’s way.

  14. The enemy likes to crawl in when joy is in the mist and when praises go up to the Lord. I believe the deceiver is nothing but the devil that wants to destroy every worship and praise by attacking our families and Church families. Lord I cry out to you I seek you. Deliver us from all evil.

  15. At such a time as this… The people of God were rebuilding the house of God and the enemy weakened their hand. When we start doing what God wants us to do it upsets the enemy and he tries to weaken our hand. Stand firm, keep shoveling, we will find the third new well.

  16. In the last chapter they feared man rather than God and now the work is hindered. When we fail to do what God is telling us we do the same thing. We fear men and sometimes become dumbfounded when we witness. We have all done it.I know I have. Lets put things in the proper perspective then God can actually use our works!

  17. The devils advocate

5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

It always seems like just when things start to really go our way the enemy starts putting in overtime on us. This should just affirm
In our minds that when all hell has broke loose that we must be in the will of God and we should keep on keeping on.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9 KJV)

24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Don’t let any Devil stop you from doing what God has called you to do.

iReap with a shovel and vision

  18. The devil has all kinds of ways to try to stop God’s people from being Kingdom minded. We will always contend with him because his job is to bruise our heel and cause us to fall-but Jesus will stomp his head in the end! We are on the winning side no matter what devises the enemy throws at the church! Keep praising, singing, digging and rejoicing-the battles not ours-it’s the Lords!

  19. When they finish laying down the foundation, they stop their work, put down their tools, and have a service of praise and worship. Just spontaneously, it wasnt scheduled or premeditated…just a pure rush of joy and praise to God. The older Israelites cry, recalling the past, when they were much more, much closer to God in relationship, and unity as a race, and tears of joy to be finally back in the ‘promised land’. Others cheer at the promise of a new beginning. Emotions run so high in this little Judean gathering that the sounds of their weeping are heard ‘far away’. God understand our individualized responses to circumstances and lovingly accepts all our genuine acts of worship..such as this spontaneous one. He invites us to come before Him with our honest expressions of emotion, as sincerly as they may be. When we open ourselves up to Him ‘show our vulnerability’ we allow Him to overflow in us.
