Esther 8

1 On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

And said, If it please the king, and if I have favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:

For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.

Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

11 Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

12 Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

13 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

14 So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

15 And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

16 The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.

17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

  1. Many people becme Jews? I was under the impression one had to be born a Jew. Or, could the verse be describing a conversion a revial? I beleive that is what is being referre to. Such an awesome move of God in blessing the Jews, other people joined the movement.

What an awesome God we serve. I believe the people of Ft Worth will want to be a part of what God is doing for POFWians that they will come and be a part of the movement.

  2. What a Mighty God

This chapter causes me to reflect on Gods power. He is so awesome and great. Who can compare to Him? Only He can take the wrong and make it right! The enemy thought he had me but only if he knew what I was gonna be after the storm, he wouldn’t even bothered me. The Yo Face, Devil! I’m still standing!

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. (Genesis 50:20 NLT)

  3. The news of life brought joy and gladness to the heart of the Jews. Freedmfrom the sentence of death they were liberated to continue their lives. The intercession of Mordecai and Queen Esther was met with favor of the King. 1. Who will we intercede for before the throne of the King of Kings that they may have everlasting life and be freed from the sentence of sin and death? 2. Donwenlive with the joy and gladness of heart that we should have since we have been freed from the sentence of eternal death because Jesusnhimself interceded for our lives? Let their be everlasting joy! ireap JOY!

  4. EVANGELIZE YOUR WORLD

We find in this chapter a model (7 Steps) for Evangelism.

    Step 1 (vs. 15)

GO IN to the presence of the King. (JESUS)

    iPray
    iWorship
    iGive

    Step 2 (vs 15)

Go out from the King in Royal apparel. (DRESS RESPECTFULLY) “Modest, clean, pressed clothing that looks like you would go to court or make a lasting impression.

    Step 3 (vs 16)

    BE the LIGHT

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    Step 4 (vs 16)

    BE GLAD

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:

    Step 5 (vs 16)

    HAVE JOY

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

    Step 6

WALK IN FAVOR (Walking in confidence that GOD has you covered and has already defeated your enemy.)

Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

    Step 7

    BE a WITNESS

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

  5. ILove to eat supper with Jesus

WIN THE HARVEST WITH THE FEAR OF THE LORD.

17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

When it comes to the winning the harvest, nothing compares to the power of God.

  6. This chapter illustrates victory. Mordecai and the Jews were victorious over Haman and those would destroy them because Esther, Mordecai and the Jews gave it to God (Jesus). One will be faced with trials and tribulations in life, as such one can also be victorious if one prays, fasts and seeks the Lord (Jesus) as they did. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  7. 1 On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

3 And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

God’s people will find favor with others. This story shows what can happen when you put God first. Our own will needs to be released, so God can lead us the way he wants to.

  8. In the Name of the King

10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

When you do something in the name of the King of Kings power and authority will fallow it.

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (Acts 3:6 KJV)

And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. (Acts 16:18 KJV)

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38 KJV)

All power and authority are in the NAME
We don’t do miracles, he does.
Just speak the name of Jesus.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 KJV)

The is power in the name of the King

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? (Acts 4:7 KJV)

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (Ephesians 1:21 KJV)

  9. Sometimes we are hounded by people. At work they may make our jobs harder. They may talk bad about us, and try to ruin our reputation.

This story shows how God can turn it around and give us their job.

Mordecai kept the right attitude. If he hasn’t the story would have took a tragic turn.

    Isaiah 40:31
    31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
    they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.

  10. v16 The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.

I’m reminded when Israel was delivered from Egypt they were the only ones that had light
while Egypt was in darkness .
GOD’S people have always had something to show them the way .
When the world sees GOD’S people joyful, and rejoicing in the midst of trails, troubles and sickness knowing that our GOD will see us through and HIS light shines on us to show us the way.
What a wonderful and powerful testimony!
    To GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

  11. 17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

Wherever the word of God is decreed there is joy and gladness but most of all there is revival.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. -Acts 2:41

  12. 6 For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

There should be something in us grieved by fellow Christians struggling and living outside victory.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15 KJV)

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 KJV)

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9, 10 KJV)

We must look out for one another and extend the love of God not just to the lost but also to our fellow Christian. The Body is designed to minister healing to itself; sometimes being the hands and feet of Jesus means reaching in and not just out.

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: (1 Peter 1:22 KJV)

  13. 2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

His ring Was a symbol of his power and money. It was taken from the accuser and oppressor that was not just defeated, but also hanged and it was given to the one who endured. We must endure!

  14. The enemy of this book has been defeated and by the divine hand of God Mordecai is set in the position of the late Haman once secured. Haman’s pride was wounded whenever Mordecai would not bow down to him, now the tables have turned and in righteous behaviour Mordecai now sits in authority were he once had. Humanity seeks to serve and be protected by a mighty God, we are hardwired this way, once we ignore the tug to be like-God, and not be able to recognize one of His, and seek after Him ,we are running around with a poisonous veil. Haman’s security was uplaid in his position, wealth, and status. He was high ranks in the kingdom of Xerxes, boasted of having millions $ to bride the king with for the anihalation of the Jews, and 10 sons with a large estate to build a gallow upon. Instead of embracing the One true God which Mordecai stood up for, he became enraged, Why? Because he wanted to glorify his flesh, and for Mordecai it wasn’t working. Under the Lords favor Mordecai can now use the kings edict to grant Jews in every city under his reign the right to asemble and protect themselves against those who may attack them. God has ultimately protected his people and chosen a vessle to carry out an order to keep them protected under Xerces edict. Those who had recognized the human condition, with fear became Jews, because fear of the Jews seized them (vs17). God knows the motive on man’s heart and whether people where chosing to “become Jews” with a humble heart seeking solace with the One true God, or if they were reeds in the winds bowing down to a new rush of wind. Once they were ready to anihalate the Jews, now they want to be one, God can judge. Once we put that trust in Him solely to be the only true God working things out for His great will then we can all find eternal protection, which worldly desires and kingdoms cannot fulfil. Today you may jump on board Christianity to worship God and live Christ-like, not because its the new fad in the kingdom of man.

  15. Verses 15-17 MSG read “Mordecai walked out of the king’s presence wearing a royal robe of violet and white, a huge gold crown, and a purple cape of fine linen. The city of Susa exploded with joy. For Jews it was all sunshine and laughter: they celebrated, they were honored. It was that way all over the country, in every province, every city when the king’s bulletin was posted: the Jews took to the streets in celebration, cheering, and feasting. Not only that, but many non-Jews became Jews—now it was dangerous not to be a Jew!” Wow, gallows of death turned to robes of victory for Mordecai. How awesome is that????? Now everybody wants to get in on the winning side!

  16. 2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

    Deligated Authority

The king deligated authority to Mordecai. The authority to use the king’s name to “make things happen”. Ester saw an oppertunity though for her uncle, and used her deligated authority to set him over the house of Haman.

The wealth of the wicked was truely set up for the rightious….
