Job 26

1 But Job answered and said,

How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

  1. 6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

Oh, what a mighty God we serve!

  2. There is a little sarcastic tone in Job’s reply to Bildad, I think he has heard enough from his friend. One thing remains clear in Job’s mind and that is that God’s Power is great & nothing is impossible for him. Everything that happens or takes place in the Earth is by His Hands. Nothing nor No one will escape the POWER of God.

  3. ILove to eat breakfast with Jesus

12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

God has all understanding, there is nothing hidden from God. When we speak the Word of God it penetrates through the hearts and souls of the proud…because God knows how to “smite through” the proud.

The Proud will do one of two things when wounded with Gods understanding… Ask for help, or they will fight back…

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)

  4. GREAT CREATOR

7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

This verse has always intrigued me!

Job’s understanding of the CREATIVE power of GOD builds my FAITH and inspires me. This verse reveals the knowledge of GOD that Job possessed and the fact that regardless of how great our knowledge is of GOD we may still struggle to find GOD in our own dilemma and circumstances.

He “hangeth the earth upon nothing”!

This illustration reminds me of hanging ornaments on a tree, they suspend on a limb.

What or who holds up the earth?

The EARTH is suspended on the TIME and SPACE of GOD!

Jesus has The WHOLE world in HIS hand.

    iWork
    iGive

  5. I have heard it said it takes great faith to believe there is no God. As Job mentions here He hung the Earth on nothing, and there it still hangs. I truly do not understand how a person can believe all the things that happen naturally (more like supernaturally) occur randomly and accidentally. From the fly who just landed on my hand to the orbit of this planet I am glad to know there is a God who has it all under control and a plan and purpose for everything.

  6. 12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18 KJV)

God fights against the proud. I want to stay on Gods side of the fight, so I pray that he search me today and put a light on my pride so that I can be in his company.

  7. In this chapter it displays Job’s understanding of the greatness, power and majesty of God. Job had a great level of confidence in God and didnt need his friends advice in his situation. Proverbs 3: 5, 6 Trust in the lord with all heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowlege him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  8. 6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Psalm 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

Nothing is hidden from the presences of the Lord.

  9. He’s got the whole world in his hands he’s got the whole world in his hands, he has me and you brother in his hands he has me and you sister in his hands. He has the whole world in his hands.

God has it all under control.

  10. 14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

What a mighty God we serve. It would take all of eternity for us to sit and listen to all that He is and all He does.

The great thing is that we can enjoy the spender of His power by climbing mount Everest or by simply seeing tge sun rise and set. We also understand the strength of His power by understanding creation and eternity. The greatest is we can experience His power through the Holy Ghost and allowing Him to live in us.

  11. This chapter illustrates discouragement. Job was in need of encouragement, yet all he received was the opposite. One must strive to build one another vice destroy; “In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. Verse 14 CEV “These things are merely a whisper of God’s power at work.
How little we would understand if this whisper ever turned into thunder!”

Ephesians 3:20 MSG “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
    Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!”

  13. 1 But Job answered and said,

2 How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

3 How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

Job seems to see right through Bildad and call him out on the pride of his thinking. He goes on to express the greatness of God and question how Bildad can think to understand Him so rashly. A reckless use of the Word indeed is dangerous, pride leads to a fall.

Job seems to sum it up in v4 when he asks “and whose spirit came from thee?” When we speak (which goes beyond our words and into all our lifestyle), do we communicate the Holy Spirit or are we entertaining some other spirit? As Pastor teaches, we are our testimony; do we testify of God and His awesome mercy and grace and gift of redemption, or do we testify of a different story?

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. (James 3:8-12 KJV)

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:15, 16 KJV)

But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:15, 16 AMP)

  14. Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? (Job 26:14 KJV)
We constantly seek to know more and more about God but he is so great that our knowledge will only ever be like a tiny little speck.

  15. 4 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

We cannot understand the power that God has. This is my God.

  16. 14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

The greatness and the power of God described by Job. This to me explains the awsomeness of God. The mighty power of God. However, individuals still fight the ugly thing called unbelief. It says that he hangs the earth on nothing, how great is that, but we cannot believe Him to do a simple thing for us. It’s as if we make unbelief an idol and bigger than the mighty power of God. I pray that the Lord great and mighty delivers us of any measure of unbelief that would hold and hinder what God is trying to do in our lives. I want to know the God that the heavens cannot contain!! Yes Lord. I will believe the report of the Lord!!

  17. Job elaborates on the greatness of God spite of his condition. Lord I want to serve you when I am weak and when I am strong.

  18. When Job describes GOD, the description he gives is allll so GREAT!!!! He knew exactly who he was talking about! Now, if humanity would get to know the GOD that Job describes…….(.the priviledge given to us by GOD’S mercy and grace). So that we would shew forth the LOVE of CHRIST!!! We all know that GOD IS MORE THAN ABLE. HALELUJAH!!!
