Psalm 12

1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

  1. Psalm 12:6-7 NLT

    The LORD’s promises are pure,
like silver refined in a furnace,
purified seven times over. Therefore, LORD, we know you will protect the oppressed,
preserving them forever from this lying generation,

  2. Unlike our words, God’s Word is pure and just. If we are to be like Jesus we must watchnot only what we do, but also what we say.

  3. 6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The word of The Lord is tried among us just as among David in his day. David had great victory in his tests because he was faithful in his tests. If we desire The Lord to move as he did when the bible was being written the secret it pure faithfulness. Faithfulness is not pure like silver unless it it put through the furnace and tried. We should rejoice in our tests and understand that he is just purifying our faithfulness.

  4. PURE WORDS

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Everyone I know has been lied to or told something that did not come to pass. This leaves us with the feeling of betrayal or dishonesty. I am sincerely thankful for the WORD of GOD!

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

2Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

These 2 scriptures have been tried in the furnace of time and found pure!

    Solomon said it this way:

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

We as believers are faced with a simple decision:

    To BELIEVE

    or

    To NOT BELIEVE

    iBelieve!
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWrok
    iGive
    iWork
    iReap

  5. Sometimes if we look through our natural eye it seems that those who continually do evil, or walk in choose the carnal path are be blessed and favored more than those that are doing everything in their power to walk unright and just before the Lord.

In these times we have to remember it rains on the just as well as the unjust. We can not get caught up looking through the natural, we have to gauge everything by the spirit and the word of God. God will take care of those that abide under the shadow the Almighty. Keep walking, you will prevail!

  6. My God is the helper of all helpers. He keeps me safe in times of trouble, He makes me lie down to rest. God is the strong One. Whom shall I fear?

  7. v5 ” Now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

I’m so thankful we serve a NOW GOD!

  8. The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord , thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalms 12:6, 7 KJV)

God says what he means and means what he says. His word IS true. He is the only truth. Others may have lied at some point, or accidentally not told the truth. They even may have told a half truth. GOD will always tell the whole truth!

3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

    • I know a few people who have flattery stitched into the fabric of their souls. These people could sell ice to polar bears…

  10. The words of The Lord are pure words, as silver purified in the furnace of the earth; purified seven times

    Silver’s melting point is 1761 degrees F or 960 degrees C.

God’s word is so powerful it has been put to the test in temperatures that are far beyond anything a human can possibly handle.

This means that not only will God’s word prevail, but we will never reach a limit that is greater than what his word has been tried in.

  11. In this scripture and in vs. 12, you can see the seriousness or passion God has for the poor. He will arise for the poor and oppressed. He places them in safety. He is a sheapard of his sheep, so he will protect them. Don’t forget God’s compassion for the poor, for he will hear their cry immediately. So, if you can give! Do so when your asked. God will bless you, now or when you get home. Blessings stored in heaven can’t get eaten by moths their. Talk about capital gains without loss. Wow…thats a great investment. But, most importantly you will make your Heavenly Dad smile. That’s always best, rather than the stuff.

  12. This chapter illustrates final. David describes a double minded person. One would be wise to remember the Judge (Jesus) will have the final say, and he already knows what’s inside; “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve
them from this generation for ever.

This is why we should not add or take away from His Word. Its been tested and tried and it remains true. Yet if you add something it contaminates it. Gods Word will remain throughout generations if we keep it in contact and teach, talk about it, and live it

  14. 6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

This verse causes me to think on: The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. -Psalms 119:130

Thank you Lord for your word

  15. War Of Words

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

    Revelation 12:10
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

The enemy will try to bring his perverted “gospel” against the Gospel of Christ. This Psalm seems to capture the warring between the two. Just as Jesus sends us to be messengers of the Gospel, so does the devil look for servants to spread his “gospel.”

At times it will look as if the devil is winning (false accusation comes, and other people believe it and not the truth; false doctrine sucks in the soul who was on the verge of becoming a new convert; deception spoils an important relationship with a friend/family member, etc) but there will come a final reckoning and the Word will prevail. We must stay on the side of the true Gospel, no matter how it looks. The devil is always eager for new converts, especially from the church of the Living God; the enemy will unashamedly proselytize the pews of the church so we must keep firmly rooted in God and not live in such a way that we give place to the devil.

    Ephesians 6:10-20
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Paul speaks of a believer victorious in Christ, having put on the full armor of God, then shifts the famous passage to a reference of his own example. *But Paul, you’re in prison!* Paul demonstrated the need for faith. The outside looked defeated but his hope was in the Gospel and his life was rooted in Christ; he put it all on the line and based his life on Christ. He sold out to the Gospel and refused to leave anything left for the gospel of the enemy. We too must make up our minds to stand for the Gospel and hold nothing back from Him. We must remember, no matter how it looks right now, Jesus wins, and if we’re standing with Him in the end, we win too.

    Hebrews 11:1
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    Hebrews 11:8-10
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

    Hebrews 11:13-16
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

    Matthew 7:21-27
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

    NOW Faith
    NOW Stand
    NOW Victory

  16. David reveals in this psalm his knowledge of the notoriously difficult time human begins have keeping their tongues in check. Rather than letting God bethe master of our words, we too often let loose with the lies and boasts that come naturally to us -and in the process, we hurt others and fail to be true friends. In contrast, God does not lie, never says something He doesn’t mean, never fails to fulfill His promises ..”God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Num 23:19). What a comfort it is to know that every word that comes from God is pure and completely trustworthy. Like precious silver refined to perfection, His promises have been “thoroughly tested” and will never let us down ..”Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much.” (Ps 119:140)

  17. Psalm 12

6The words of the Lord are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord,
thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

What a powerful way to describe the words of the true sovereign God, the one who cannot lie, the one who is faithful to His words… Now, in whom
Will you put your trust? Or the one who is constant and faithful?

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. Romans 3:4

Only The Lord offers pure Words.
People marveled at the Words of our Lord. Matthew tell us; “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matt 24:35

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. John 6:68

Whose “words” would you listen to? God’s words are life

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.   Hebrews 4:12

  18. Verses 6-7 NIV read “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,” God’s word is true, pure and will never fail.

  19. 1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

We, as the church must guard our tongues that we continue to be found to be faithful…
