Psalm 35

1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

22 This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

24 Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

  1. 35:13-14 The psalmist provides a living example of Jesus ‘ command to “pray for them which despitefully use you”
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you , Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you , and pray for them which despitefully use you.

  2. ILove to eat chicken express with Jesus

GET THEM ANGEL OF THE LORD
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

DO we use our authority? Do we even know we have this kind of authority? To bind and loose, David understood the kingdom of God and knew what to say.

  3. I understand this very clearly. Thank u Lord for teaching us longsuffering.
Go to Jesus~ He is always the answer for all our trials and battles. He will teach us to love people and understand our enemies. Without love we have nothing to win.
    Thank u teacher, Jesus.
    You are a forgiving God.

  4. It used to make me mad when people talked lies about me, but then I realized they were just envious of the love I have for my God. They don’t understand so they make up lies.

Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

I took this verse to heart with a person I used to work with and she became a friend, although it took a long time and a lot of patience.

28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

As long as I am Praising your Holy Name and as long as I am speaking of your righteousness, I don’t have to be worry about what others say or think for you alone are my strength my shield.

  5. sometimes no matter what you do, bad things will be said about, you but the only one that may know the truth of what is in your heart is the Lord. But don’t get upset about it because he will take care of everything else.

  6. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. (Psalms 35:13, 14 KJV)

David prayed and fasted and wept for his enemies like they were his own family. They made fun of him, but still he cared so much that he fasted and prayed for them. When is the last time you fasted and prayed in sorrow for someone who didn’t like you? When is the last time they laughed and you still fasted and prayed? Many of us have not even dine this for our own families (trusting doctors instead of God) much kess the people who like us. God give us a heart like David that cared for all people.

  7. This chapter illustrates petition. David cried out to God against all those that were against him, and also for all those that were with him. One would be wise to follow the Word of God and the man of God’s preaching/teaching if one wants to be heard; “We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  8. 11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

We are going to have people talk about us. When we turn our lives over to God and turn from our wicked ways the enemy will try to come in and throw our past in our face. You can’t live in the past we have to live for the futrue. Don’t let your past refine who you are.

  9. The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. If he confused the enemies of his people then he will do it for us. We must make sure that we are doing what it takes to be considered one of his. He will protect us from our enemies.

  10. OBLIGATION

28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

Every one of us hold this obligation to the LORD. HE at one time or another has protected, kept or delivered us from one of the situations listed here in chapter 35.

Our OBLIGATION is to testify of HIS righteousness and send praises toward the heavens continually for what he has already done in our lives.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

    How I understand David.
My human reaction was to rise up against those who rose up against me. They wanted to destroy me. They tried to destroy me, now I would destroy them. But God tugged at the strings of my heart he convicted me, and I loved them as a brother, I placed it in Gods hand. When bitterness tried to corrupt my soul, my heart told me, it’s in the hands of God now, pray for there salvation with the passion that you pray for the salvation of your brother. Pray for there restoration as fervently as you pray for a friend.

  12. David keeps his eyes on God even through the battles. When he’s up and when he’s down. He praises God when he’s victorious and he asks God for his mercy and help
When he’s down. This is an example for our lives. We have to keep our eyes on Jesus noatter what the battle brings. Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayers and being on my side in these battles.

  13. With every bone in my body I will praise him: “L ord , who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?” (Psalms 35:10 NLT)

I WILL praise him! Who can compare to our God? He is strong and mighty!

  14. When our deliverance is delayed, we may assume that God hasn’t answered our prayers. God hears every prayer, but he answers according to his wisdom. We should not let the absence of an immediate answer cause us to doubt God. It should be an occasion to deepen our faith.

  15. I will give thee thanks in the great congregation:
I will praise thee among much people.

It reminds me of the lyrics from a song that I love. It says; ” shout it go on and scream it from the mountains, go on and tell it to the masses that He is God!”
In this chapter David prays for God’s help and repays God with publicaly expressing his praise to God. We most remember to be grateful all the time. The Lord is good, all the time and His mercy endureth forever

  16. In this scripture, you can observe another plea to God. To essentially judge his cause between him and the enemy. It is apparant that Gid is going honor his servant. We all will be rejoicing in the congregation. The enemy will not be rejoicing over God’s Church. Jesus will defend his body!

    “Now”……………

  17. 13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

    Attitude

The Church of the living God is about to embark on the greatest adventure, and thrill ride, if you will, that leads to the coming of The Lord Jesus Christ.

The fires of revival that have started will burn into an inferno that will sweep the world by storm. Signs, miracles, and wonders will be every day occurrences, and the harvest will come in droves.

At the same time persecution will intensify. The Bible says this

    Mark 13:9
But take heed to yourselves:for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten:and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

He then tells us how we are to handle this

    Mark 13:11
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate:but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye:for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

The world will be going through the same things. Except persecution, they will face calamity, hardships, trials, and challenges, only without God.

When they see our attitudes in the midst of the trouble they will run to Jesus!

    Remember attitude determines altitude!

  18. 1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

The battle is not ours but the Lords. Vengeance is mine saith The Lord. David placed the problem into Gods hand and not his own. Our problems intensify when react with our flesh and own will but if we respond correctly and give it all to God things work out past our understanding .

  19. v13-14 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth : I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom .
I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

We must be careful how we pray. The Psalmist has had a change of heart and teaches us to pray and fast for our enemies as if they were are brothers . We must pray GOD’S WILL and not our own will.

“Seeing it is a righteous thing with GOD to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;” 2 Thessalonians 1:6

We must remember that GOD had and has Mercy on us. So instead of praying judgment on our enemies one must pray GOD’S MERCY on them.

    “Mercy rejoiceth against judgment”
    James 2: 13

    NOW

iPray GOD’ Will Be Done !
    iRejoice in GOD’S Mercy
    Thank you JESUS !!!

  20. PSALMS 35:13 BUT AS FOR ME,WHEN THEY WERE SICK,MY CLOTHING WAS SACKCLOTH:I HUMBLED MY SOUL WITH FASTING;AND MY PRAYER RETURNED INTO MINE OWN BOSOM.

  21. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

No matter how they persecuted Jesus, he continued to heal, teach and love and at Calvary, forgave them.

  22. 28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

Although David knew he had made enemies, he continued to speak of righteousness and praise the Lord. He knew God could at any moment wipe his enemines out, but he had committed the crime, and there were consequences he had to face.

Even when people talk about us, we can be confident that God hears every word and will come to our rescue when the time is right.

  23. The Lord is my God and he fights my battles. The enemy has thrown all that he had but Got has rescued me and given me the victory over my troubles.

26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

  24. In this Chapter it is evident that David’s faith for God is big. He’s been in trouble and knows exactly what to do.

David continues to ask the Lord to protect hm from the enemy because he is surrounded by them.

Lord surround me with your love and protection at atll times.

  25. NOW Jesus

1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Those that are sensitive to their own need are more likely to hear the whisper of “I am salvation, I AM Jesus.” Think of the many individuals in the gospels who were the outcasts of society, poor, sick, etc who came to Jesus or received Him and experienced the miraculous. We don’t see the gospels filled with all the chief priests and Pharisees and such encountering Jesus as Messiah, rather they were the ones who we know for being openly antagonistic towards Him. There were exceptions to the rule, like with Nicodemus and Jairus, but mostly it seems those who were already “filled” didn’t acknowledge their need for Jesus because they were numbed to their hunger for Him.

    John 18:3-6
3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

Even as they came to arrest Jesus, and they encountered the great I AM such that it brought them to the ground, they still did not turn. At Jesus’ response which means “I AM God who is Savior”, they fell back to the ground, perhaps a sense being humbled and reminded of where they came from (formed from the dust of the ground) in the presence of the Almighty who came robed in flesh, who walked the earth as we do yet who remained sinless. Yet in all that, they still seemed blinded to Him.

Today, Jesus still declares “I AM your Salvation!” In our carnality, we can miss His cry, but He is waiting on us to respond with our “Hosannah! We need You!” so He can echo again “I AM Salvation.”

    Acts 4:10-12
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other:for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The Psalmist writes “say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.” It seems a cry not of unbelief looking for confirmation but of faith, saying “I know You are Jesus, You said it and NOW my faith is connecting with You in agreement, my faith for You to be NOW Jesus, NOW Salvation! Let what You said be manifest NOW!”

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

    NOW Faith
    NOW Salvation
    NOW JESUS

  26. Verses 27-28 MSG read:

    “But those who want
    the best for me,
Let them have the last word—a glad shout!—
and say, over and over and over,
    “God is great—everything works
together for good for his servant.”
I’ll tell the world how great and good you are,
I’ll shout Hallelujah all day, every day.”

No matter what comes our way, be a good servant unto the Lord and everything will work out for good. So, keep praising no matter what!

  27. 26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. 27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

  28. I am so thankful that my God is there to fight my battles with me, there is no need to worry about those that come against me bc my Hod is greater and stronger! Hallelujah!!!

  29. Language of War

vs1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

The language of war may be foreign or even distastful to some women. As women we may perfer to reflect on the gentler works and activities of God rather than on the battles and violence of Israel’s history. Understanding God our warrior gives a much needed and glorious dimension to our experience with Him. A righteous warrior defends the defenseless, stands firm for justice, and even gives his/her life in the pursuit of peace. We all enage in personal battles both physically and spiritually. Our world is literally a battleground whether we chose to see it our not, against the forces of good and evil (the spiritual realm). What encouragment and confidence we can have when we realize we have a God who fights for us. He defends our cause and preserves our life (Ps 119:154); there is no one like Him to help the powerless against the mighty.” (2Ch 14:11). We do not rely on our own strength or power or ability; or we trust only in His might and His certain victory on our behalf.

1 Sa 14:47 “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

  30. 11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their

EVEN those that have risen against me and even with all the false accusations, i THANK GOD because IT ALL WORKED OUT FOR GOOD !!!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose
    Romans 8:28

  31. 14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

The word tells us that faithful are the wounds of a brother. Many times we don’t know why someone can and does lash out against us, but the word says that a wounded soul who cn bare? We must realize that while we are working for Christ we are going to be hurt by those close to us. We will see others who rejoice when we fall. We will hear of our friends and families not only belittling us, but also condiming us because of our faith. We MUST stand strong and tall. As we teach and spread the Word, We cannot afford to back down and allow them to think that they “won”. The pains that have been inflicted upon me and my girls, and my sister and her family because of our “radical” beliefs, cannot compare to the reward we will recieve if we continue to run the race…

No matter what, know that God has got our back, as long as we stay right…
