Psalm 40

1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, OLord, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

  1. In this scripture, as in vs. 10, an example of a Pastor’s plythe confessing and preaching in the great congregation. He did’nt with hold anything in regards to salvation, or loving kindness. We have all been taught the same by our Pastor. So, there will be no excuses!

    “Now”……

  2. People who hurt us the Lord knows.
We just believe on Jesus and don’t give up on our promises that the Lord gives us.
We maybe treated like the underdog for doing right but just be faithful unto the Lord and He will give us peace and people around us too.
    1 Peter 3:16
Having a good conscience, that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

    Thank you Lord.

  3. Sometimes we have to wait for God to answer our prayers. we do not need to grow weary in well doing while waiting but remain strong in the faith of his Word. The more we knock at God’s door though, it makes the possiblity arise that God will answer “NOW”.

  4. “My heart was distressed neath Jehovah’s dread frown, and lo in the pit where my sin drag me down. I cried to The Lord from the deep mirey clay, who tenderly brought me out to golden day.

He brought me out of the mirey clay. He set my feet on a rock to stay, he put a song in my soul today. A song of praise: hallelujah!”

When wallowing in the filth of a pig pen, God had mercy on me. He didn’t just demonstrate joy when I came home, but showed his love has been unconditional.

Today many are stuck in the muck. Yet we have the answer! Lets pull them out and lead them to the rock!

  5. TRUST THE LORD

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

The favor and BLESSING of GOD is so deep and vast we often take them for granted. HIS Blessing is best recognized by the individual that is in a hard place.

It is very tempting to look to people of resources to assist us in times of need; and very often GOD will use those people to BLESS us. However, GOD is jealous when we turn to them and not HIM.

Understanding and accepting that our BLESSINGS come from and through GOD is a revelation of PEACE and COMFORT. When we consider all the BLESSINGS and PROTECTION of GOD we could not clearly comprehend ALL that HE has done in our LIVES.

Our TRUST in the LORD should cause others to SEE HIM through our PRAISE.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

    NOW

  6. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

The words that come out of our mouth are so important. We should have a new song of praise every day that will cause men to want to turn their hearts toward God. The seeds we sow in our spirit will be what we reap, and the seeds we sow into those around is what will be reaped as well.

Sow good seeds by keeping a pure and upright spirit and let a song of praise come forth out of our inner most beings on a daily basis.

  7. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

    >>>>>>>>>TRUST<<<<<<<<<<

Was at one time in my life the most difficult thing to do. I had been broken and abused until I was about 17 years old. At that point in my life I didn't know and understand the true meaning of love. It's taken this long in my life to truly understand "love" and "trust". I believe that they go hand in hand. If I can't trust then how can I love… I know for a fact that God has made me whole, was it a process for me? Yeah it was, until one day I had prayed to God to make me whole. And He did. I had to ask myself this simple little question "how can I not TRUST my God, the one who created me?" I needed to recall within myself everything that I had been through, but also everything God had brought me out of, and had protected me from. HE IS GENTLE, And LOVING toward me.
HE IS THE GREAT I AM, HIS NAME IS JESUS!

  8. 11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

Even kings need the promises of God.

David was one of the greatest kings and was a man after Gods heart, but even in his position of authority David knew he was an imperfect man doing his best to serve a perfect God. David committed a very glaring sin that is well remembered but in this verse he says his iniquities have taken hold of him. He recognized that sin was sin no matter what size it seemed to be and he needed Gods mercy and deliverance. Much like everyone else king David needed the promises God has made to his people. Like David we need to run to Gods mercy when we mess up and humbly embrace those promises instead of running deeper into trouble fearing the wrath or judgement of God.

    Waited

    קָוָה qavah
    Verb kaw-vaw’
    a primitive root
a primitive root; to bind together (perhaps by twisting), i.e. collect; (figuratively) to expect:–gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait (for, on, upon).
to wait, look for, hope, expect
    (Qal) waiting (participle)
    (Piel)
to wait or look eagerly for
    to lie in wait for
    to wait for, linger for
    to collect, bind together
    (Niphal) to be collected

To wait upon The Lord is to be assembled together in the congregation in expectation of God moving into the midst.

  10. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Thank you Lord for bringing me up out of the miry clay. I was lost in the pit and you brought me out. My life now is to praise you.

  11. The quiet Christian

What happens when we are quiet and hide his righteousness? What happens when we don’t share his loving kindness with others? what happens when we don’t share our testimony to the congregation? I want God to preserve me, that means that I can’t stay silent–you either!

  12. v16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

NOW.. is the time to live in a continuous attitude of praise and worship HIM.

As we come together to worship the SPIRIT of GOD is present to edify and meet our needs, hear our cry. HE has promised to be in the midst of us. Matt.18:20
    There is strength in unity.
    iPray
    iPraise
    iSeek
    iFind
    iRejoice
    iWill say continually,
    The LORD be magnified.!!!

  13. Thankful for all that God has done David has summited himself to the Lord David cries out for mercy with total commitment life has not been easy David praises the Lord my help my deliverer

  14. That reminds me of a old gospel song.. he brought me out of the miry clay he put my feet on a rock to stay he. Put a song in my heart today a song of praise halaloa

  15. This chapter illustrates trueness. David describes true repentance. One must be true to oneself and too God before one can have true repentance; “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. 16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God ALMIGHTY!!!!!!

  17. Vs.2-3, “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.”

This made me think of the song, “He brought me out of that miry clay. He set my feet on a solid rock to stay. He put a song in my happy soul today. A song of praise, Hallelujah.”

I am so thankful for the mercy and grace of God. He has brought me out of an horrible pit and has placed my feet on a solid rock, which is Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the Joy of the Holy Ghost, and for a new song within me to praise God with.

The above scriptures also made me think of the scripture found in 2 Cor. 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

  18. 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
If we can’t put our trust in God then who can we trust? We can’t put our trust in man cause man will let us down. I learned this the hard way. I have been in church you might say all my life i was about 8 when my parents got in church. Will not call names or say what church but if you have ever been church hurt that is the worst hurt you can ever get. I put more trust in the pastor/church family then I did God. And they let you down but my God will never let you down.
I want to put all my trust in God. God is the only one that can heal us and make us whole again.

    Sorry you’ve lost
There’s nothing you could ever do
    To change my mind

Cause he put a song in my heart so I can stand up and scream from the top of my lungs
Jesus is alive and he’s taking me home beyone the sun
Don’t bother trying to take me out, you’re wasting your time

Just part of a song that I like

  19. My God, I want to do what you want. Your teachings are in my heart.” I will tell about your goodness in the great meeting of your people. L ord , you know my lips are not silent. (Psalms 40:8, 9 NCV)

Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NCV)

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45 KJV)

  20. Verse 3 NLT reads “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” This verse reminds me of the song that says:

    God gave me a song
    that the angels cannot sing
I’ve been washed in the blood
of the Crucified One. I’ve been redeemed.

  21. The Lord thinks about me…all the time 🙂
I am continually reminded that He cares, that He is a God that has great plans for me, and His thoughts for us are uncountable. I am thankful for a God that hears and answeres. I am thankful for the thoughts that He has toward us.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11. Holding on to a promise like that gives me the confidence and faith boost, that leads to trust that He will deliver me, heal me, comfort me.
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

  22. Heart Matters

5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

It can be so easy to get focused on the details of what our hands are doing that we can forget to likewise check our hearts. I believe sometimes God tugs at us in such a way that we will not be satisfied in finding Him until we meet Him at the room of our heart. It may come at first as a familiar pull of the Spirit, but it won’t be something simply satisfied by a quick “what do You want Lord?” It won’t be something that can be handled intellectually or superficially.

    Jeremiah 29:11-14
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord:and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Access to the amazing plans God has for us is predicated on whether we will first give Him access to us. When we search for Him *with all our heart*… If we truly want to know His heart, we must be willing to open to Him ours. That heart-tug God brings is sometimes like a spiritual scavenger hunt; God gives us a hint “go here,” then when we respond, He gives the next step “now go here,” leading us ultimately to that place of heart-level communion, if we will respond to His leading.

Answering that call for our hearts may not always come simply, but it is worth it, along with renewing the passion of *pursuing* God that goes along with it.

    Deuteronomy 6:4-6
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

  23. 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

  24. Pierced Ears

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

In Hebrew culture an indentured servant was required to work faithfully for his master for 6 years and for the 7 year go free (Jubilee) but if he had a master whom he had grown to love. then he could choose to stay in his mater’s household, marking him as belonging to his master for life (Ex 21:2-6). David’s use of this image reveals his heart attitude toward his God (vs8). Not only has he voluntarily chosen to serve the Lord for life, but the ears that are peirced as a mark of ownership are also wide open to hear his master (God’s) direction. When we belong to the Lord, our delight is to be taught by Him and to do His will (Is 50:4-5)

  25. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Thank the Lord that he will bring you out of your troubles. All we have to do is trust in him, believe his word and do it.

  26. 13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me : O Lord , make haste to help me. 14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

  27. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

And set MY FEET (plural) if both feet are not on the ROCK then it would be because of a physical dissability or it would be because of a spiritual dissability… either the person is missing a foot or is slacking…..spiritually something is very WRONG!!!

THANK YOU JESUS……. I LOVE TO LOVE YOU BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME FIRST….. I LOVE YOU DADDY. GRACIAS JESUCRISTO!!!
I PRASE YOU AND ONLY YOU JESUS!!! ONLY YOU ARE WORTHY!!! JESUS!!! SANTO!!! SANTO!!! SANTO!!! ERES MI PADRE PRECIOSO GRANDE EN MISERICORDIA Y BONDADOSO POR LA ETERNIDAD!!!
TU FIDELIDAD ES GRANDE!!! YOU HAVE MORE THAN GOOOOD TO ME…. THANK YOU JESUS…..=D

  28. 5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

The word tells us that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. The word also tells us that His ways are higher than our ways. Though we might not always understand why we go through all that we do, we must understand that He is in control of all and He plans for us to prosper, and not fail. He wants us to be the head and not the tail….
