Psalm 41

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

v5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Most of us at one time or another have felt like everyone is against us- like there is no one we can trust. Its a terrible feeling to sense that the people that are around us are two-faced, taking behind our backs, wishing the worst for us. The ultimate hurt is to be betrayed by someone we consider a true friend “there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Pr 18:24). In describing this painful eperience in his life, David forshadows what Jesus Christ will endure: slander slander and malice from enemies, betrayal by close friends … “18I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. 19Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 21When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. 22Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. 23Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. 25He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? 26Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night. 31Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. 33Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. 34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. 36Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards. 37Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake. 38Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.”
    (Jhn 13:18-38).

Like David, Jesus is deeply troubled and hurt by this, yet the Lord’s gracious forgiveness extends even to those who betray him unto death ..”33And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” (Luke 23:33-34).

  2. In this scriprure, you can observe the petitions made and he acknowledged that God will uphold him due to his integrity and setteth him before God’s face. Wow talking about having connectons in high places. “Wow”….

Kings have plenty of enemies, and it’s great to have God on your side.

If , God be for me? Who could stand against me?

  3. 5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? KJV

We have all been talked about and lied about. However, that does not give us the right to take the matter into our hands turn it over to God.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 KJV

I have learned the hard way on this verse. But if we turn it over to God and step out of it then its gets handle in a much better way. Then we don’t have to regret what we said out of anger to the one that hurt us but we still have to love the one that wrong us. I don’t believe we are required to keep going back for more kickings.
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17 KJV
I have used this scripture several times if you are hanging with someone that is causing divisions between you and God then you might want to consider to change paths.
This is a song I am reminded of this morning and goes good with this verse?
    Trust and never doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out
    He never failed me yet

I will sing of God’s mercy
    Every day every hour
    He gives me power
I will sing And give thanks to Thee
For all the dangers, toils & snares
That He has brought me out

He is my God And I’ll serve Him
    No matter what the test

    Trust and never doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out
    He never failed me yet

    I know God is able
To deliver in time of storm
I know that He’ll keep you
    Safe from all earthly harm

One day when my weary soul is at rest
I’m going home to be forever blessed

    Trust and never doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out
    He never failed me yet

He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet
He never failed me, He never failed me yet

    Trust and never doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out

  7. FAVOR

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

We are BLESSED and favored by GOD through HIS protection and prevention of loss. Our VICTORY is in JESUS forever. HE has BLESSED us with power and authority to overcome sin, our adversities and our adversaries. Because we still have opportunity to stand in HIS presence and possess the power in HIM to overcome sin we count ourselves as “favored” by GOD.

It is by GRACE (favor) that we are saved and that is not of ourselves. Continue in HIM. Walk in HIM, Live in HIM and have your BEing in HIM.

  8. 6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

The truth will set you free. This is what I was told as a child. Those who lie about you, their lies will come out to light. God is truth, therefore he knows what is truth.

  9. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

My enemy cant triumph over me he’s under my feet.

  10. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

  11. 10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

Prov 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Lord I need your marrow in my bones!!!!

  12. ILove to eat lunch with Jesus

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

When we help those who are in need, later when we are in need The Lord will help us. Let us remind God of his promises and trust his Holy Word.

  13. This chapter illustrates commitment. David elaborates on commitment towards others. One should be kind and giving to one another, for surely one will reap what one sows. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. Olivia said she listened like a big girl.

Michael asked what everlasting ment. Then he asked why it said amen two times.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. 12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
Through faithfulness we gain favor and by his grace we get to sit before him.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
How perfectly this fits with tonight’s message! I was praying several months ago with someone and God told me to tell them to get up. Since that time we have had several messages on getting up. 1) if you are looking satan in the eye, get up because he crawls on the groud–you should walk upright, get up 2) tonight’s message was to get yourself up out of your situation and come to God. There was another one, but I don’t remember what it was right now. If you do, respond to remind me! My point is this the Bible doesn’t just tell us that we are the only thing that is going to raise us from our circumstances or life, it also says that God will raise us too. We have to do our part in faith to allow Him to do His part in our life. OK everyone: GET UP!!!

  15. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

“We got the victory and everything will be alright alright…cause we’re on the winning side!”
Blessed be the Lord my God who always causes me to triumph in His Name!
Although enemies may rise up, and bring accusation or plot evil against me, but with the Lord all battles are won.

  16. Choices

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

A testimony is more than just an emotional story to share from time to time. It represents a memorial of what God has done in our lives. However, there is more to consider than just what God has done for us, there is also the matter of our choices. This Psalm speaks of the idea of a testimony, rising as a petition from the angle of “God, here’s this testimony but it’s being threatened, You know it’s not because of my choices so I’m trusting in You to show the world the truth.” The testimony is a combination of what we have built *with* God. His favor, or grace, is what allows us to walk in the way of the testimony, but we contribute the element of *choice* to both allow the work to begin as well as maintain it once that testimony has begun.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

At first glance, the Psalmist may seem demanding of God, yet looking deeper, this approach seems more to speak of great faith and trust built in relationship with God. “God, I’m putting all my hope in You, I have faith in Your character and I believe You are who You say You are. Raise me up, that the testimony would stand sure; raise me up, that You would be further glorified; raise me up, that they would know who You are.”

It’s like the prayer on the flip-side of what Bro Stark preached. The Psalmist has declared “don’t count me out while there’s still time on the clock!” and we see here that cry turned into prayer and supplication. The boldness of the Psalmist’s faith is something we must learn as we continue on in the fight of faith, or else we take the risk of counting our own self out prematurely. Maintaining the memorial of a testimony is not a passive thing but is a continued fight of faith, and any doublemindedness will quickly be revealed when our faith is tried. We must be careful in our choices to maintain the integrity not just of our walk but also of our mindset and faith. If the integrity of our choices is compromised, then our testimony will follow in only a matter of time.

  17. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor : the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. 2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive ; and he shall be blessed upon the earth : and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

  18. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

HALELUJAH!!! if we have given ourselves over to sin then the enemy has permission to do as he wants with the rebellious. but if we are striving and are obedient to GOD (keeping HIS commandments) then the enemy has no foothold and he can only move his mouth. the enemy has been defeated he has no teeth!!! el enemigo ESTA CHIMUELO!!! he is toofless “like a roaring lion” he only growls, tries to intimidate!!! lets keep him toothless!!!

OHHHH BUT MY JESUS!!! HE IS THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH!!!
HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! the enemy HAS BEEN DEFEATED!!! HALELUJAH!!! I PRAISE YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU FOR MERCY. THANK YOU FOR THE UNMERITED AND UNFAILING LOVE THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME…… I LOVE YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU!!! GRACIAS PADRE HERMOSO!!! DIGNO ERES DE TODA ALABANZA Y ADORACION!!! …… i love you JESUS =D

  19. 10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

They say integrity is what you do when no one is watching. Our integrity is a testimony in itself. If we walk in the commandments of the Lord and live daily with the mind of Christ, our integrity should be immpeccable.

It will establish us with our friends and our enemies and be pleasing to the Lord.

  20. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

Many times those closest to us end up attacking us. The word say a wounded spirit who can bare. When someone is wounded, they often lash at those closest to them because they are comfortible with doing so. As long as we keep the right attitude, God can and will raise us up. Should we fail the test, and loose our cool, we are doomed to repeat the test again.

He always answers. We need to be still and watch. He will help us get back up and will dress our wounds, but only if we allow Him to…His mercies are more than we can fathom. Its only because of His grace and mercy that we get the oppertunity to serve Him and watch Him move for those whom He loves…

  21. Verse 13 MSG reads “Blessed is God, Israel’s God, always, always, always. Yes. Yes. Yes.”

This reminds me of this song:

    I’ll say yes Lord yes
To your will and to your way
    I’ll say yes oh yes
I will trust you and obey

When your spirit speaks to me
With my whole heart I will agree
    And my answer will be Yes Lord {Yes}
