Psalm 43

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

  1. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

God my exceeding joy! There is an old annointing that used to be prevalent in our churches but that is rarely seen anymore, We always called it the holy laugh. If you have ever been privileged to be in a service where this gift has been poured out then you have witnessed exceeding joy. Revive in us exceeding joy!

  2. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

There are no circumstances, nor problems, nor illnesses that will take the praises off my mouth… I PRAISE YOU JESUS, for you are my God, my Savior, the Love of my Life… Let His Praises be continually in your mouth.

  3. (Psalms 43:3-5

  4. Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. (Psalms 43:3 NLT)

We are the Light of the world. Shining and standing out! We need to lead by our light NOW.

  5. This chapter illustrates safety. There were many that were against David as such he sought God. There is safety from those that would backbite and persecute in the arms of the Lord, if one would but seek him; “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  6. ILove to eat breakfast with Jesus

    “I THINK MYSELF HAPPY”

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews: (Acts 26:2 KJV)

This scripture goes amazingly good with our chapter of the day.

The word “think” myself happy is from a very powerful Greek word. Check this out…

    “Think”
    #2233
    ἡγέομαι hēgéomai
    Verb hayg-eh’-om-ahee
middle voice of a (presumed) strengthened form of (71)
middle voice of a (presumed) strengthened form of ; to lead, i.e. command (with official authority); figuratively, to deem, i.e. consider:–account, (be) chief, count, esteem, governor, judge, have the rule over, suppose, think.
    to lead
    to go before
    to be a leader
    to rule, command
    to have authority over
a prince, of regal power, governor, viceroy, chief, leading as respects influence, controlling in counsel, overseers or leaders of the churches
used of any kind of leader, chief, commander
the leader in speech, chief, spokesman

WOW, I told you it was a powerful word.

To “think” yourself happy is to take authority over the situation.

This is what David did. By reading our chapter today we can tell that he was being oppressed by the enemy…

2 For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

But David takes authority over the situation just as Paul did… How?

    Verse 4

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

    HE MADE HIMSELF HAPPY

THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH…

  7. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

    Alter to Joy

David makes a direct correlation between the alter and JOY. When we are born we and born into sin, as the word tells us, and shapen into iniquity. When we repent and are baptised in Jesus name for the remission of our sin, we apply His precious blood to our sin lives, the only acceptible sacrifice. When we are filled with the beautiful gift of the Holy Ghost, we get not only the very breath of life inside of us, but also we recieve exceeding JOY… Our JOY is bigger than any obsticle we might face. The word tells us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper…

  8. Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! (Psalms 43:3, 4 NLT)

I was glad when they said into me, let us go into the house of The Lord. Ps. 122:1

There is joy in the presence of our King. David had a winning attitude that screamed, ” I am having a good day!”

  9. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

There should always be a praise in our hearts and sometimes its good to pick up a instrument to aid our praise. In Davids case it was a harp. It may be a piano, trumpet, or a hand clap; all of these will take praise to a new level.

  10. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

JUST PRAISE HIM!!! although we praise GOD beforehand. it is IMPORTANT to PRAISE GOD through alllll things!!! i PRAISE YOU JESUS!!!

  11. clear my name, God; stick up for me against these loveless, immoral people. Get me out of here, away from these lying degenerates MSG

There is always going to be someone that lies on us and trys to bring us down. But we are overcomers don’t let the nay sayers have your victory.
Hurting people hurt people. We are to love the sinner but not the sin.
When things start going wrong and people are running you down here’s a song to put in your heart:

    1) You won’t catch me preaching on the street. I’m too shy to talk to people when we meet. But then one day, out on town square, a bunch of kids were gathered there, throwing beer cans at the law and shouting, “Peace, peace.” Well, I did not intend to interfere, till someone started screaming in my ear. So I laid both hands on his head, and I prayed while he turned red; and the other kids said, “Let’s get out of here!”

    2) I never testify when I’m at school. People will say that I’m not cool. But then one day I had enough of that Evolution stuff. So I stood right up and I said, “God’s word is true!” My teacher did not know what to do. It seemed like he was shaking in his shoes. Though he knew I meant no harm, he took me by the arm and said, “Son, what religion are you?”

    3) On the job I never say a word. I figure they all know I go to church. But when my boss man asked me in for a tonic and some gin, I began to think, “Perhaps he hasn’t heard.” So I said, “No sir, I am not the drinking kind! Excepting for a thing they call new wine!” As he lost his cigar smoke, it seemed like he would choke. I proceeded to explain it one more time.

    Chorus
I’m a one God, Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy rollin’, born again, heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus’ name. I’ve been washed in the blood, sanctified by the Spirit. I believe in holiness and I suggest for you to do the same. I was set free at a Pentecostal altar on my knees. Pardon me if I’m not ashamed, to be a one God, Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy rollin’, born again, heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus’ name!

  12. God is our only hope and help in this day. When our nation appears to be turning its back on God and his principles, we must keep the faith more than ever. NOW is the time to pray and humble ourselves before God.

  13. A HEALTHY COUNTENANCE (2)

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

For 2 consecutive chapters here in the Psalms we find David referring to A HEALTHY COUNTENANCE. In both chapters he identifies the vehicle of A HEALTHY COUNTENANCE. In both chapters Praise is the vehicle that enables and empowers us to arrive at A HEALTHY COUNTENANCE.

    HEALTH – 1) salvation, deliverance
    a) welfare, prosperity
    b) deliverance
    c) salvation (by God)
    d) victory

    COUNTENANCE – 1) face
    a) face, faces
    b) presence, person

    BOOOM!

Our face does identify the health of our SOUL! I am so thankful for this understanding of the WORD of GOD. It is important to GOD how our faces look.

Check the mirror! What does your countenance say? Happy? Sad? Fear? Joy? Trouble? Peace? Lost? Salvation?

    One final thought.

Praise is the vehicle to A HEALTHY COUNTENANCE (happy, smiling, pleasant FACE) and COME NOW to GOD is the source of JOY to possess a happy face.

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy:

GOD is our source of JOY!

    Come NOW to GOD.

    iGo to GOD
    iPray for FORGIVENESS
    iWork for RIGHTEOUSNESS
    iGive my LIFE to JESUS
    iReap JOY (HEALTHY COUNTENANCE)

  14. v4 Then will I go unto the altar of GOD, unto GOD my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O GOD my GOD.

The Psalmist once again courageously offers sacrifice of praise durning his dark times.
How encouraging to know that we serve a faithful GOD, and we too can offer GOD sacrifices of Praise during our dark times,
other will see that we serve a GOD that is
    able.
As we praise GOD’S presence will cause us to break out into singing, clapping, weeping, shouting and musicians play their instruments this is an expression of our worship. It’s an outlet of our souls.
    Praise ye the LORD.

    iPray
iOffer Sacrirfies of praise unto the LORD
    iWorship
    iHave faith
    iReap GOD’S Presence

  15. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

John 16:13 – Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come

God’s Spirit will lead us and guide, if we will allow it and listen. The challenge comes when we don’t listen or allow the spirit to lead us and we do our own thing and walk in our ways. Then we find oursevles in situations where enemies rise against us, and then we turn to God for answers. If we can learn to walk in truth and the light of His word before we do something, we will find ourselves in less challenging situations.

  16. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God

The altar is for the saint and sinner!!!Always have an altar in your life!!
The altar is where lives are changed, where decisions are made.
Do you have an altar in your life?An altar does not have to be just at church, you can have an altar anywhere you can talk to God!!!

  17. I like the Message version of verse 5: “Fix my eyes on God…” It is so easy to become consumed with what is going on in front of our eyes we can forget who our deliverer is and from who we gain our strength. Don’t get lost in the forest due to all the trees; let’s keep our eye on God!

  18. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

The light and the truth that God brings HOPE to your situation. Hope in God brings you out of your mess. Hope drives faith in many times. Hope is the silver lining to many situations. Hope in God is the answer to unhappiness!
I bind the stronghold of low and no self-esteem and I loose the spirit and attitude now of Confidence, I loose the spirit and attitude of Boldness, I loose the spirit and attitude of Progressiveness, I do it the Name and by the Authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.–THAT MEANS HOPE IN GOD!!!!!!
    -Nicole

When life gives you lemons–God makes lemonade
Hateraide tastes real bad but living water tastes so good!

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. (John 4:7-15 KJV)
    -Jessie

  19. Vs. 5, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”

Disquieted means to be anxious, restless, or to fret.

So, when my soul is cast down and I begin to fret about things, I need to remember to hope in God. For when I do, my soul wants to begin to praise him and sing, ” I feel the Joy of the Lord falling fresh on me,” and my countenance begins to change.

” I feel the joy of the Lord falling fresh on my, I feel the joy of the Lord delivering me, I feel the joy of the Holy Ghost all over me. I have been loosed. I’ve been set free. Pardon me a moment while I have a jubilee. The joy of the Holy Ghost is all over me. ”

Thank You JESUS for taking a frown and turning it upside down and putting a smile on my face.

  20. In this scripture, it is noticed that the psalmist mentioned in both chapters 42 & 43. Same ending verse. Health & Countenance! What is he saying and why was it mentioned twice? Think about it!

    “Now”……

  21. One commentator wrote of verse one, Judge me oh God because others don’t understand what I do.
To many times judgment is passed without understanding instead of praying for correction of our brother sometimes we should pray for understanding of there actions

  22. Why art thou cast down oh my soul? And why art thou desquieted within me? The psalmist asks a question that relates to the feeling of his, mind will and emotions, the soul. Somehow he feels down, but the Light and The Truth, Jesus, through His Holy Spirit will lead to safety to a high place. The answer is letting Jesus shine His light into all the areas of our lives that we may be filled with joy, exceeding joy.

  23. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

First we must give a sacrifice. God only wants the very best of us, which in all of the cases is our sinful self. God wants to take us through the blood to clean us for all that made us dirty. We must go through the processes of this to be purified.

  24. 3 Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. (NLT)

  25. 3 O send out thy light ans thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring meunto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
4 Then will I go unto the alter of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the hearp will I praise thee, O God my God.

God is the light and the truth, he is the way. I will fallow him, I will let Him lead me to wherever it is he wants me to go. I trust in God.
Praise Him in the morning, Praise Him in the noon day, Praise Him when the sun goes down. He is worthy of all our Praise! Before, During and After our trials! thank Jesus for everything we go through, the good and the bad.

  26. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

Let your words order my steps for you are the truth, the light, and the way. I will fall on bended knee with great joy to praise your holy name.

  27. Thank you sisters i always enjoying the songs that pofw sings in church.

God enjoys our praises to Him. Just like He teaches by Holy Ghost preachers, teachers, and evdngelist how and how to be equipped to serving Jesus.
Mostly all knowledge comes from God and His Word.
I give you praise from my heart, dear Jesus.
When things are not going as planned
Serve, Praise (sing a new song ), everything left in God’s hands to sort out the tight places that only He can untie.
    THANK YOU JESUS!

    2 Cor. .12:10
Therefore I take pleasure in infirminities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake: for when I’m weak, then am I strong.

  28. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

As Pastor said the other night, the altar serves two purposes. First it is a place of sacrifice, and death. For us it is a place of repentance and crucifying our flesh. We go to the altar and recognize the price that he paid, and where he has brought us from.

Second, the altar is a place to bring an offering. Here we worship by giving to his kingdom. The fire can then fall.

Each action requires giving of self. Giving out of substance, or giving up our lives. The psalmist said this is “my exceeding joy.”

    • 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one:O and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 1 Corinthians 3

Whatever the size of our sacrifice, and repentance will determine the blessing that is to follow.

“God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap”

      Give a little get a little…
      Give a lot get a lot…

  29. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

Gods Spirit draws all that come unto Him. We that are full of the Holy Ghost have Gods Spirit, we are the lights in this present darkness, and we wield the ultimate Truth Gods holy word! O send out your light and truth Lord! The church! We lead those that are broken and hurting, seeking deliverance, to Gods holy hill, the cross, and to His tabernacles. And then they will find an altar of repentance to God and not to this world. How will they come to God lest they hear and how will they hear lest we be sent? Send your light and truth Lord!

  30. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

Thy word is a lamp. Thy word is truth. They cause me to walk in thy ways and leads me to a place of sacrifice, praise, & worship.

Thy word cleanses me that I may approach you.

LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? -Psalms 15:1
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. -Psalms 15:2

  31. Verse 5 NLT reads:

    “Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
    I will praise him again—
    my Savior and my God!”

Whenever your feeling discouraged or sad, remember in whom you must put your hope in. God our Creator can give us courage and joy in whatever may come our way, if we put our hope in him and praise the King of Kings.

  32. Sometimes when God isn’t responding or moving in our lives in a way we either want Him to, or are used to. We could think He isn’t in the midst of our sorrow.. ‘If’ the enemy creeps into our minds and *successfully* alters our confidence. The psalmist **decides** not to allow the attack of the enemy or punishment bring him down for long. We can stand on God’s Word, for He will discipline those He loves. Don’t beat yourself up needlessly, by thinking discouraged thoughts planted by the enemy. The Lord wants you and I to succeed in His Will. Fort Worth, TX put your hope in God, and praise Him! In lifting up His holy name, He will lift us up. Arise Now!

  33. Praise

3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

In the darkness, the light of God shines and breaks through the shadow. That light can lead us if we follow in praise and worship. If we allow it, His character shining through our darkness can lead us to the altar of praise like a trail of breadcrumbs guiding us step by step closer to Him. When the storm rages, He is our Prince of peace; when we are lonely, He is our Comforter; when we are wounded, He is our Healer: it all gives us opportunity to see another part of Him and draw nearer in praise.

    Psalms 103:1-5
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

    Psalms 18:28
For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

    2 Corinthians 4:6-12
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus ‘sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

    1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

  34. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

I will praise the Lord with my whole heart. God will give you strength in the time of need. When you put in the hands of the Lord you no longer have to worry about your situation because the kings of kings knows how to handle every problem. There is no problem to big that God can not make you an overcomer of it.

  35. 3 O send out thy light and thy truth : let them lead me ; let them bring me unto thy holy hill , and to thy tabernacles . 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God , unto God my exceeding joy : yea , upon the harp will I praise thee , O Godmy God .
