Psalm 44

1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.

  1. 18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

    19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

    20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

    21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

    Sometimes God is quiet in the midst of our turmoil but we cannot turn back, but remain steadfast in the truth, knowing that our God is faithful to answer us in his time.

  2. A position of reverence and humility…

    25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

    Let us never forget who He is and who we are, for HE IS OUR REDEEMER, Our God and Savior.

  3. I pray that God will understand me thru my trials.
    And when the enemy comes to me I will be victorious. What a Good God.
    He is very understanding. He is my rock and my salvation.
    I give Him the best of my being ’cause He is my best friend and He is always there for me when I call upon His Name ~ JESUS!

    Thank you JESUS for your house of prayer and praise.

  4. Sometimes it takes remembering what God has done for us in the past to get us through the NOW. However, God is a God of the NOW not the past. Our faith must remain strong and grounded in his Word and promises instead of just a remembrance. Trust God NOW.

  5. O God, we have heard it with our own ears— our ancestors have told us of all you did in their day, in days long ago: (Psalms 44:1 NLT)

    My prayer is not only to hear of victories from my elders but I want to hear straight out of the mouth of God. I pray that desire consume us at POFW. Incline our ears to the spirit realm and let God increase and let us decrease. NOW! Amen

  6. 3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

    Jesus sits on the right hand of God. He is the only way to be saved. Some trust in there sword but I trust in his right hand. Only the favor and mercy of Jesus has allowed us to serve him in the kingdom of God.

  7. OVERCOMING TESTIMONIES

    1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

    Doubt is greatest device the devil possesses in his arsenal attack against faith.

    Testimonies are the greatest device believers possess in our arsenal of torment of the devil.

    John recorded in his epistle the power and effect of testimonies.

    1 John 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

    2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

    3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

    4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

    In life with the trouble and challenges that it often presents, we find our greatest resource of strength and inspiration from and through what GOD has done for others that we have seen, heard or had a hand in being a BLESSING to them.

    An old song:

    “Let’s GO on talking about that good ol way, lets go on talking about the LORD”

  8. 4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

    5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

    6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

    A sign of true surrender and humility. They knew that their help was only coming from the Lord.
    I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
    from whence cometh my help.
    My help cometh from the Lord,
    which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

    We should know that is not by might or power but by His Spirit that things are done. He is the redeemer. He is the one that provides, that saves, and protects. All things were made by Him and for Him. Sometimes He allows situations that we may learn to trust Him. In this chapter says that they remembered of the old days and what was spoken of the Lord. The great victories and deliverances of before…now they are asking, where are you Lord? Awake to save us! Although we have been through the traials and through the valleys we still kept faith in you. Arise to deliver us according to your mercies

  9. MSG – 1-3 We’ve been hearing about this, God, all our lives.
    Our fathers told us the stories their fathers told them,
    How single-handedly you weeded out the godless from the fields and planted us, How you sent those people packing but gave us a fresh start.
    We didn’t fight for this land; we didn’t work for it—it was a gift!
    You gave it, smiling as you gave it, delighting as you gave it.

    The Message version of these verses speaks to me regarding POFW. We have heard the great annointing that used to be in our city, and the large congregation that gathered on a daily basis about the king’s business. But God had to weed out those that became deceived, drunk on the world’s ways, and left the truth to please their flesh. God gave our city a new start, another chance to be the people He wanted. The prophecies hang in the atmosphere, spoken long ago, waiting for a people to get into position to respond and receive. We, The Pentecostals of Fort Worth will rise up and take the territory, unclaimed, given long ago. it’s a gift!

    We our living in spiritual houses that we did not build, but was built by the toil and labor of those who loved and died for truth, and we are reaping the benefits of their anointing!

  10. 3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

    We cannot save ourselves nor can we deliver ourselves from the enemy. We must make our boast in the Lord for He alone can do it. POFW has the favor of God to affect and win for Him the region of Ft. Worth, so we must declare that the answer to all of life’s problems is Jesus.

  11. I love Jesus

    21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

    There is nothing that we could ever do in secret that God doesn’t know about. He knows everything. Sometimes we think we are getting something over on God, NEVER is this the case.

    Lets just come clean and confess our faults and repent while we have the chance.

  12. This chapter illustrates foundation. “We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old”. One must study the foundation and what was all built, if one wants to preserve and continue to build. One must pray, study the Word of God and seek his face NOW. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. 1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

    2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

    3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

    4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

    5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

    6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

    7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

    8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

    Sometimes we have to hold on to past victories when we can’t see one on the horizon. It’s important to pass on our testimonies and heritage to future generations so they have a stepping stone to move through trials.

  14. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

    You can’t put your trust in earthly things, they will fail you at times. When you put your trust in God, he will never fail you. There is victory in Jesus.

  15. 20 If we had forgotten to pray to our God or made fools of ourselves with store-bought gods, 21 Wouldn’t God have figured this out? We can’t hide things from him. MSG

    Deuteronomy 6:14-16

    King James Version (KJV)

    14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

    15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

    16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
    KJV

  16. v17 All this is come upon us; yet we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsey in thy covenant.

    Sometimes we may feel deserted and alone too. Wondering why GOD seems so far away and why our prayers seemingly go unanswered. However JESUS really does care about our feelings of loneliness because HIS WORD TELLS US SO.
    John 16:33. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    HIS SPIRIT gives us peace and joy that brings forth a right attitude in times of trouble.
    Hear HIS WORD and have
    FAITH IN GOD!!!
    iPray
    iHear
    iHave Faith
    iHave peace and joy in the Holy Ghost
    iWorship JESUS

  17. 3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

    And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 28:14 KJV)

    God gave it to them just like God gave us (PoFW) Fort Worth. We just have to do our part and walk it out to get a soul for Christ.

  18. 20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
    21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

    We must remember that God knows all things. He sees all that we do , he knows our thoughts, and he knows what we will do before we do it.

  19. Vs. 5, “Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.”

    Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

    I’m thankful for the power of God that gives us strength to tread upon our enemies and stomp them into the ground. He has made us more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8:37)

    So, Stomp, Stomp, Stomp, Stomp on the devil !

  20. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me

    I pray that I always remember that I cant obtain victory on my own. That i remember to always seek him first…first in praise and first during difficult days. Always trusting his plan and not my own.

  21. v3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

    Its not about ‘us’ because its not by our might that we will accomplish anything God has planned. Its ‘all about’ His great right hand and thine arm and the light of thy countenance. Jesus explains it beautifully in John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” Not unless we are connected to Him can we accomplished anything for Him, or in His will. Connected we are fruitful, and because of Him mighty warriors, put the devil back where he belongs, we are taking the kingdom by force… because of Him, with Him, and through His might! When we get out eyes off ourselves and on God we can be most productive/fuitful in the vine.

  22. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me

    Trust not in the arm of the flesh, but in the true and living God. Jesus Christ the faithful.

    The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. -Psalms 28:7

  23. 23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

    24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

    God sometimes works behind the scenes. His plan unfolds overtime with flawless execution, and pristine quality. We must never give up on him. Weeping may endur for the night but joy comes in the morning.

  24. In this scripture, it is obvious that this ends with a state of desparation. But, they reminded God, they have’nt stretched their arms to another God. They reinforced in vs. 8, that they bost in him and praise his name for ever.
    “Keep Praising His Name”………Praise you Jesus Christ”……..Amen.

    “Now”……

  25. 22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

    Romans 8:31-39
    31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    We don’t always understand everything but like it says in Romans, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” We must trust in God at all times and hold to Him and let Him be our Rock.

    Psalms 20:5-8
    5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions. 6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

    NOW Arise

  26. 1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

    We must never forget our past victories. Whether the victories be ours or our father’s, we can always remember them and built our own faith for our future victories….

  27. Verses 4-8 MSG read:

    “You’re my King, O God—
    command victories for Jacob!
    With your help we’ll wipe out our enemies,
    in your name we’ll stomp them to dust.
    I don’t trust in weapons;
    my sword won’t save me—
    But it’s you, you who saved us from the enemy;
    you made those who hate us lose face.
    All day we parade God’s praise—
    we thank you by name over and over.”

    Thank the Lord for your victories by name, even before you receive them. My hope is in you Lord….thank you Jesus.

  28. 8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

    HALELUJAH !!! In GOD I boast all the day long!!!
    Only You JESUS are worthy!!!
    I love you DADDY!!!
