Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

  1. Psalm 46:1-2

When trouble come, I never have to face them alone. Thank You, Lord, for always being with me as my refuge and strength. Friends can fail, families can split apart, and my whole world can be shaken to its foundation—leaving me dazed and disoriented—but You never change. Thank You Jesus!

  2. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

A lot of people take this verse literally and just sit around waiting on God to do everything. I know my God is capable of doing the impossible but I believe in action; forgive me if I offend anyone, you can’t sit waiting for God to give you the perfect job if you don’t even fill out an application for one. I believe the psalmist meant it in a way that we need NOT to be worry or anxious for God got everything under control, so in the mist of your worst circumstances He is to be EXALTED, PRAISED, & LIFTED UP. Guess what you need to move to do it. Don’t take me wrong there is a time to not move and stay in reverence of His Glory, but my God is a God of ACTION. We must outreach to the lost they are not going to come in all by themselves. We must pray. We must give. We must work. We MUST praise Him above ALL.

  3. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our Fortress and High Tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations and wonders in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two; He burns the chariots in the fire. Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our High Tower and Stronghold). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! (Psalm 46:7-11 AMP)

    Hallelujah!

  4. How awesome is our God! Though the mountains tremble, and the oceans be moved he is our refuge and strength!

He can shake the planet from underneath us and we will be ok. He is able to manipulate the very fabric of existence, and yet his purpose is to prepare us to meet him.

    That’s my king!

  5. Psalm 46:4
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

This place (tabernacle, church), is where we find peace, deliverance, healing, preaching of GOD’S WORD, other things that benefits God has for us, why not go there…. I know I am.
Most of all that’s where I find Jesus.
Praises go up to the Lord of all!

  6. CRUSH SATAN

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

One of my most frequented scriptures in times of trouble. We gain strength from this verse that no matter what turbulance is going on around us we are covered and protected by the peace of our GOD; Jesus Christ. Our victory over satan is found in peace.

Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

The theme at BOTT this year was “Hear the Voice” the reverberating word from the LORD this week is for us to possess the peace of GOD and not fear. Faith and not doubt and that “GOD Can Do ANYTHING” we have already heard testimonies of land and buildings for churches being donated and funds being provided to purchase others, we have witnessed healing in many people present here in sulky Alexandria, LA and I know GOD is no respecter of person or place. Get ready POFW!

***Get to church this Sunday 9 & 11am and 6pm, trust me you do not want to miss what GOD will do for those present. Fend of negative feelings or weakness and get to the place of “REFUGE and STRENGTH”.

  7. Faith is . . .
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Last night I heard an awesome message on the power of God moving with our faith. The facts are that God is our refuge and strength and that God is our very present help in our trouble. God cares what is happening in our situations. It is always us who limit God. God wants to solve ALL of the problems that we bring to HIM. HE is a loving and just God.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:11-13 KJV)
The fact of the matter is that God wants to help us in our times if trouble but we won’t let him. We MUST have a fervent prayer life accompanied by radicle faith. Our faith is like gasoline and our actions are the match to ignite God’s help in our lives. Don’t underestimate God! Let expectations be high, let prayers arise, and let God have your radicle praise. HE NEVER FAILS!

  8. This chapter illustrates safety. Although it appeared hopeless they were safe; “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge”. One must heed the Word of God (Jesus) and the man of God, and then one can also proclaim; “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

    • The river of living water is available. We have only one prerequisite, to be thirsty. I’m not concerned of the things of this world because there is a River. Devil you can’t discourage me because there is a River. Trouble doesn’t effect my walk with him because there is a River. This is why Paul could think himself happy, THERE IS A RIVER!

  9. Verses 10-11 CEV read:

    “Our God says, “Calm down,
and learn that I am God!
    All nations on earth
    will honor me.”

    The Lord All-Powerful
    is with us.
    The God of Jacob
    is our fortress.”

    Philippians 2:10-11KJV “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

  10. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. (Psalms 46:2, 3 KJV)

The opposite of fear is faith. Let your faith arise though the earth is shaking around you. Let radical praise be heard.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. (Psalms 46:10, 11 KJV)

    “THERE IS A RIVER”

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

    WHERE IS THIS RIVER?

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. (Revelation 22:1 KJV)

HOW CAN WE TAP INTO THIS RIVER?

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, (Ephesians 3:17 KJV)

OUR ROOTS HAVE TO GROW AND TAP INTO THE RIVER OF LOVE THAT FLOWS FROM THE THRONE.

    Note:
When do tree roots grow the most?

    THE WINTER
The tree uses the energy that normally would be used for producing leaves and branch growth (that of the outward appearance) and uses all of its energy and effort to expand its massive root system.

WHEN WE, THE CHILDREN OF GOD TAP INTO THE RIVER OF GOD THAT FLOWS FROM THE THRONE OF GOD WE WILL BECOME ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE AND NOTHING…. NOTHING … NOTHING SHALL MOVE YOU!

    New Living Translation (©2007)
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

WHEN THE HEAT OF TRIALS AND TEMPTATIONS COME WHEN THE DROUGHT OF NOT HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD COMES, THOSE WHO ARE PLANTED IN LOVE WILL REMAIN WHILE ALL OTHERS FADE AWAY

    • And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. (Revelation 22:1-4 KJV)

  12. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
God will help us and be with us when the world around us is falling apart. Gotta make sure that are connected to God and doing what you know to do is right.
    Reminds me of a song:
He’s never failed me yet He’s never failed me yet Jesus Christ has never failed me yet everywhere I go I want the world to know Jesus Christ has never failed me yet.

We (I) have failed God but he has never failed me.

  13. In this scripture, all though it is small in size, but large in content. Just like David & Goliath. It packs a powerful punch, in the following verses you will see in three occassions we are comforted with the fact that God is our refuge (vs’s 1,7, 11). “Keep the Faith”, as in vs. 5, “Stand Firm”, “Don’t be moved”, for God is our help. You will see in vs. 9, it is an apparent look of what God will do for his people, and another look into revelation of the near future. So, we must do “vs. 10”, he will be exalted!

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    “Now”………………..

  14. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

When we put our trust in God we get a peace that surpasses all understanding. No matter what happens we have God as our strength. Trouble will come regardless, even this world will pass away, so it is really a no brainer that we should have our hope in an everlasting God.

  15. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

He is God. He is all things. That’s it. He’s all things.

  16. v1 GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Having such protection should embolden us to press forward doing GOD’S will .

    iPray HIS WILL
    iPraise
    Now

  17. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

I’ve heard this verse time and time again, I’ve even used it myself to share a word of hope to others. It is not until you are faced with that situation were the waves are roaring, the thunder is screaming, and the rain is pouring when you see if you’re able to quiet your heart in the midst of havoc. To have peace and rest knowing that He Is GOD. I always get reminded of the scene where Jesus commands the storm to be silent. Those who were around Him that one day were astonished saying; what manner of a man is this that even the waves, the wind, nature obeys Him. Now that same God, who was, who is and is to come is present in our very lives today. To be still is not to literary do nothing, but rather to have peace. To continue about your life knowing that the Almighty is in control. To be still us to find rest in Him, to trust Him, to cast your cares and let the anxiety go because He will speak to the storm in your life and command it to be still. He lives in us; now instead of being anxious speak to your situation and your heart in faith and say be still oh my soul for the Lord is my refuge.

  18. 2 times in this passage it says, “God of Jacob is my refuge” and 1 time it says “God is my refuge and strength.” Each verse was a different type setting, though the earth be removed, the moutains be scattered or the heathen rage, the bow breaks. Whatever situation they found themself in, in the quietness of God, that is where he could really get to know Him, and find Him to be his refuge.

Whatever situation I may find myself in from day to day, in the quietness when I allow the spirit of God to speak to me, guide me, give me direction, and even correct me, I still can be hid in the cleft of the rock, and find my refuge and strength in Him.

  19. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

When all our strength is exhausted, and we run out of options, God is still there waiting on us to allow Him to be our place of safety…

  20. In The Flow

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

    John 7:38
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

When we have the flow of God’s Spirit in our lives, it makes all the difference. He is our refuge, our peace, our joy, the great I AM in us and with us alway. When trouble and storms come and we can’t seem to get settled, it may be an indicator it’s time to take a trip to jump back in the River and get in the flow.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

There comes a time when our efforts will simply not work, where it feels like everything we touch falls apart. It is a season of “be still,” of abandoning our works to see what God will do, to be still in reverence of Him and His plan. It is a time to get in the flow, to cast off every weight and sin so we can be fully immersed in Him. I thank God for seasons of purging that help me get free of things that I didn’t even realize were weighing me down and messing with my walk with God. It can be hard to hear “be still” because it usually means nothing short of pain in the flesh, but the benefits cannot be outweighed.

  21. 7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Three times these words are said in this chapter. This tells me it is IMPORTANT to understand that God is with us that he is our refuge, he is our Sanctuary

  22. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Im reminded of that old song…
God is my refuge and strength my refgue and strenth in trouble, trouble.

No matter what may come my way I can always go to the rock!

  23. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

To be in hands of God is a beautiful thing. He is a very present help in the time of trouble.

  24. v1 a very present help in trouble.

Sounds alot like Paul in Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,m neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Mighty God!

  25. 1 God is our refuge and strength , a very present help in trouble . 2 Therefore will not we fear , though the earth be removed , and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea ; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled , though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof . Selah . 10 Be still , and know that I am God : I will be exalted among the heathen , I will be exalted in the earth .
