Psalm Chapter 47

30 Days of Prayer – Day 26

Pray that God would send His angels to help us (Psalm 103:20). They are ministering spirits who minister for the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14) and are bearers of the miraculous, working in the midst of humanity. “The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them” (Psalm 68:17).

Psalm 47

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

  1. Applause, everyone. Bravo, bravissimo! Shout God-songs at the top of your lungs! God Most High is stunning, astride land and ocean. He crushes hostile people, puts nations at our feet. He set us at the head of the line, prize-winning Jacob, his favorite. Loud cheers as God climbs the mountain, a ram’s horn blast at the summit. Sing songs to God, sing out! Sing to our King, sing praise! He’s Lord over earth, so sing your best songs to God. God is Lord of godless nations— sovereign, he’s King of the mountain. Princes from all over are gathered, people of Abraham’s God. The powers of earth are God’s— he soars over all. (Psalm 47:1-9 MSG)

Praise The Lord! Couldn’t stop reading this chapter, I read it over and over with a smile and read it out loud in different versions, and this was my favorite! I pray that I will worship before my LORD, lift up my hands unashamed, humble myself at HIS feet, dance before my KING, surrendering all to HIM, to worship HIM in Spirit and in Truth!! My GOD IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!!! There is none like Him, and there is No Other!

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah. (Psalms 47:4 KJV)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)
God has our lives planned out, our story has already been written out, all we need to do is to continue to do HIS WILL, and not our own. Remember for HE IS the author and finisher of our faith.
    We (I ) SERVE A MIGHTY GOD…. Hallelujah!!!!

  2. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

Learn that your Praises bring out VICTORY, understand that when you Praise Him you call Him down to your situation, you give Him leadership of your troops, you identify where the POWER comes from… ALL that in a Praise. One of my favorite songs:

Lift up your voice and sing for joy
Clap your hands make a joyful noise
    Blow the trumpet and shout
    Praise Him for the victory

The weapons we use are not bombs and guns
Worship is the way that the battle is won
This is the way that we fight
    Praise Him for the victory

  3. A psalms to the sons of Korah

Shout unto God with a voice of triumph.

David is telling the descendants of a man who he and his family were killed by God.. Worship God because he is great not because of what he’s done.

    • You took the words out of my mouth. I’ve been thinking about this all day. Why would he right this to the sons of Korah?

  4. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

I like this because it says to sing praises with understanding. How many times do we sing and not understand what we are singing About?? What about when we sing about the blood? How powerful and mighty God is? We are victorious? Even those rap or country songs? Do we really understand what/ who we are exalting?

Anything that does not lift Jesus, not just simply mention him, are lifting up something else. The word tells us we can only serve one master, not two. That means we are either lifting up Jesus or the devil.

  5. ILove to eat the book with Jesus

    “Worship is a Warship”

    PSALM 47
1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

IN PENTECOST, most of us have the weapon of hand clapping mastered…or so we think. WHAT IS THE WEAPON OF THE HAND CLAP?

    Clap
    08628
    תָּקַע taqa`
    Verb taw-kah’
    a primitive root
a primitive root; to clatter, i.e. slap (the hands together), clang (an instrument); by analogy, to drive (a nail or tent-pin, a dart, etc.); by implication, to become bondsman by handclasping):–blow ((a trumpet)), cast, clap, fasten, pitch (tent), smite, sound, strike, suretiship, thrust.
to blow, clap, strike, sound, thrust, give a blow, blast

to give a blast, give a blow
    to strike or clap hands
    (Niphal)
to be blown, blast (of horn)
    to strike or pledge oneself

A hand clap is like a good old fashioned handshake. Whenever you would shake someone’s hand, you would be bound unto the oath of which you spoke.

When we clap, we are coming into agreement with what is being said. We are putting ourself into covenant and are entering into warfare together.

    to shout for joy

To SHOUT is to engage the enemy.

  6. THE ESCALATION OF PRAISE

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

I have witnessed people in general who are not fully convinced or persuaded of the VICTORY that GOD has given them are those that struggle with PRAISE. Whether pride or doubt they struggle to lift a hand or clap their hands to LORD. It is even a greater challenge for people in general to SHOUT loudly to LORD. The greatest escalation of praise is when we can SHOUT with the VOICE of TRIUMPH.

SHOUT – ruwa – 1) to shout, raise a sound, cry out, give a blast
    a) (Hiphil)
    1) to shout a war-cry or alarm of battle
    2) to sound a signal for war or march

    6) to cry out in distress
    b) (Polal) to utter a shout
    c) (Hithpolel)
    1) to shout in triumph
    2) to shout for joy
    2) (Niphal) destroyed

VOICE – sound produced by vertebrates by means of lungs, larynx, or syrinx; especially : sound so produced by human beings

TRIUMPH – the joy or exultation of victory or success.

    WE WIN in JESUS!

    Get the revelation!
    Get understanding!

Live for JESUS and Live in VICTORY!

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

Bring your TRIUMPHANT PRAISE along with your challenges into the court of the King and YOU WILL WIN! Show up to church with a hand clap of applause for GOD and VICTORIOUS SHOUT of VICTORY every time you come and start Sunday @ The POFW!

  7. Verses 1-2 NKJV read “Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.”

This reminds of the song we just sang at church: If your not ashamed to praise the Lord let me see you clap your hands, stomp those feet, wave your hands and leap for joy. If you don’t proclaim it, then you can’t claim it!

  8. 1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

Lift your voices and praise God. Announce His goodnesses and His mercies to all.

  9. 4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

This verse stood out to me amidst all the verses about singing praise to God. To me the verse is a way of saying God is in control, he chooses our inheritance. As born again Christians we have been adopted into the family, into the chosen people of God. But even so we may not all have the same lot cast to us in life. Even so we should all praise God regardless because He is in control and we are all striving to inherit heaven as our new home.

  10. After reading this chapter, I immediately thought of this song…

Shout with a voice of triumph,
Shout with a voice of praise,
Shout with a voice of triumph,
Shout with a voice of praise,
Shout unto God for the victory,
Hey, Hey, give the Lord a shout of praise.

    We’re triumphet in battle,
    We are victorious,
God is most high over all the earth,
    Jesus has conquered,
    Satan’s defeated,
The enemy is under my feet.

I love the songs we sing in church.

  11. The victory is in your praise. What great works has the Lord our God done… Will you believe? Will you trust, will know that we are more than conquerors? Praise in advance for the victory. With God, we win!! We always win!! Yes there are hardships but the battle is won with our praise. The battle is the Lord’s

  12. Everybody, won’t you come on in
And let the worship of the Lord begin
We’re gonna sing and maybe clap our hands
And celebrate the Son of Man

    (Chorus)
This is a call to worship
    It’s a call to pray
A call to praise the Lord
    Each and every day
This is a call to show your faith
    It’s the call of love
This is a call to worship
    And praise the Lord above

    (Verse 2)
Come on in so we can start
Holy Spirit come prepare our hearts
And if you could won’t you sing along
Let’s praise the Lord together in a song

    (Repeat Chorus)
This is a call to worship
    It’s a call to pray
A call to praise the Lord
    Each and every day
This is a call to show your faith
    It’s the call of love
This is a call to worship
    And praise the Lord above

have a song in your heart at all times

  13. : for the shields of the earth belong unto God:

    The shield of Faith

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16 KJV)

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18 KJV)

The church built on faith and a personal relationship with God WILL STAND!

Lets build this church on faith and who he is to us.
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:15, 16 KJV)

    Who is he to you?

  14. This chapter illustrates duty. All are instructed to praise God; “Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises”. Although it is ones duty, one should desire to praise ones Creator; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. He subdues the nations before us, putting our enemies beneath our feet. (Psalms 47:3 NLT)

Putting the enemies UNDER our feet.
Stomp, Stomp, Stomp on the Devil.

Just as Selah says in every prayer I hear her say in sunday school “Stomp on the devil in Jesus Name, Amen.”

  16. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. -Revelation 19:16

The Lord is our king. I am thinking of an old song. ……..Jesus be The Lord of all the kingdoms of my heart.

  17. Plugged-in Praise

6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

It can be easy to get used to hearing the same praises over and over again so that we stop thinking about what we’re even saying. If the spark seems missing, maybe it’s time to *selah* and pause to really *think* about those praises…

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

We’ve got the victory! God is KING! Nobody is greater than Him, no problem is too big!

4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

We don’t have to go through life hopeless, we have a royal inheritance! We get to be children of the KING! We get Jesus! We get righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost! We get victory!

6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

We can’t begin to praise Him enough, He’s worthy to be praised!

  18. What inheritance has God chosen for us?

The Bible tells us that we are joint-heirs with Christ. We are partakers of what Christ gained on Calvary. Imagining what this means is mind blowing!

    1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

  19. v6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

When we come together in worship and magnify GOD, HIS GLORY and HIS presence empower the assembly.

    iPray
    iPraise
    Now !

  20. MSG – Sing songs to God, sing out! Sing to our King, sing praise!
He’s Lord over earth, so sing your best songs to God

There should be a song of praise in our heart continually. We should give God our best in everything that we do. Our daily life expresses who we really are. Woe be it to us to be half hearted with kingdom things and fully committed to carnal things.

  21. In this scripture, it is highly apparant God wants his praise. He is going to get it , if I have anything to say about it. It is my will to praise him, and he doesn’t have to make me. Besides I’m in love with him. He will have my praise!

    “Now”……….

  22. I have read this chapter at least 10 times today and all I can think of is We must praise. We must give God and outward expression of the inward joy he daily gives us. I am so humbled that he fight for me, he gives me mine inheritance and He is King of the earth.

There is truly no God like our God!

  23. He subdues the nations before us, putting our enemies beneath our feet. (Psalms 47:3 NLT)

If the enemy is speaking in our ear we might need to encourage ourselves and get up off the ground. The devil is under our feet.

  24. 4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

Our promise is this. When we get the Holy Ghost , and live a holy life before God. The inheritance is eternal life. This is what I want.

  25. Stay with God and you will see how greatly he rewards his people. We serve a great and generous God. There is none like him.

  26. If anyone ever wondered whether the Lord likes, wants or desires us to praise Him with fervence, they could find their answer written all over this chapter. David inclines everyone to “shout to God with cries of joy” (vs1) “God had ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumphets” (v5) God obviously doenst intend for His children to be sourpuss bumps on a log, but cheerful and praise Him whole hearledly with whatever resources or instruments, and voice.

  27. 6 Sing praises to God , sing praises: sing praises unto our King , sing praises. 7 For God is the King of all the earth : sing ye praises with understanding . 8 God reignethover the heathen : God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness .
