Psalm 51

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

  1. 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou walls of Jeruselem.
This is a very good scripture. It sounds to me that this is talking about His Kingdom.
    This is for me.
Paying tithes and offerings helps in the day to come.
    HALLELUIA!!
iwill give my time and treasure.
    forever. In Jesus Name. Amen.

  2. True Repentance will show fruits.

If you know me you know I don’t like medicine that if there is a way to take care of what ills with nature that is the way I am going to go. The psalmist says…7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

What is hyssop and what it is used for:
Hyssop is used orally to treat upset stomach, liver and gallbladder complaints, indigestion, colds, fevers, respiratory and chest ailments, sore throat, asthma, urinary tract inflammation, gas, and colic. It’s also used as an expectorant and as an appetite and circulation stimulant.

Hyssop is used topically in a salve or compress to treat skin irritations, burns, bruises, and frostbite. The oil is used as fragrance in soaps and perfumes. It’s used to flavor foods and extracts and as a flavoring in alcoholic beverages.

But it comes with a warning that Hyssop can be toxic and it should be use sparingly.

The Goal of God will always and shall always be to teach the transgressor and convert the sinner. Bring back the souls to His House and Glorify His Holy Name.

  3. ILove to eat breakfast with Jesus

    Honesty is the best policy

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

The one thing that we all must learn to do is to be honest.

The fact of the matter is that God already knows what’s in our heart. So, why do we lie?
Maybe we don’t want to face reality.

If we want to receive salvation fresh every morning, we must go to God and evaluate our hearts and finally “Get Real”.

  4. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. (Psalms 51:11 KJV)

Merciful God, it’s only because of you that I live. God a long time ago you seen my brokenness, my sin, and death in me (spiritual) but God it was your love, your grace, and your mercy that called me out of darkness a place where I didn’t know how to live, love, give, and reach for others. I was just a dead man walking without any hope. But oh God am I soever thankful for the blood!!!
Yes!! Today I can say that I LIVE, I LOVE, I AM is ALIVE IN ME!!!! Woohoo.. Praising my LORD RIGHT NOW!!! Glory!! If HIS Spirit wasn’t living in me…. Then I couldn’t be able to express myself so freely.. Ha! In your face devil! Look what The Lord has done!!

  5. This is a hope chapter. Meaning, it shows us that no matter what we have done, God is faithful and just to forgive us, if we do it with the right heart.

  6. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Daily I have to pray prayers such as this. I pray that within me is a clean heart free from selfishness and self serving. I desire each day that my spirit within me stays pure before the Lord. In all things I want to have pure motives and I want to see others the way you see them, with a right spirit and a pure heart.

  7. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

A psalm of heart felt conviction and true genuine repentance. How many of us has the Lord forgiven our sins? Every one that is willing to accept His love mercy and grace, and to honestly turn away from sin. I love this psalm because it speaks to the condition of humanity. When we are in the “world” we’re living in sin. In this chapter, David recognizes several key points. One He throws himself at the mercy of God. He realizes that he needs God to even live. Acknowledges his error and humbles himself, which is key for repentance. We don’t go and demand forgiveness, but rather with our hearts vowed down and a humble spirit approach the mercy seat, past our flesh into the Holy of Holies, and approach the King. I love the faithfulness of God. If we confess out sin instead of trying to hide it, He will forgive us. He knows we are not perfect; we will fall, but it’s a matter of getting back up.

It is of the Lord ‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning:great is thy faithfulness.
The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Lamentations 3:22-24

There’s a great joy and blessing knowing that we have been forgiven. That the guilt and the Shane are gone and we can sing shout and dance. The Lord has been good to us 🙂

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no guile. Psalm 32:1

  8. Vs. 10-13, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.”

This is one of my very favorite chapters in the Bible, and I have prayed this many times.

Do you remember what it was like the first time you received the Holy Ghost and the Joy that overwhelmed you? How you wanted to go out and tell everyone what Jesus had done for you? That’s the same Joy that Jesus wants us to have in our hearts today, but because of time and cares of this life that weigh us down, that Joy can be taken from us. That’s why we need to pray as David did, “Restore unto me the Joy of thy salvation.” “Then will I teach transgressors thy ways.” The only way we can be a true witness for Jesus Christ is to have the Joy of his salvation living inside of us daily.

So, my prayer is that the Joy of his salvation would be restored in us NOW ! We have a city to reach with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  9. A David Psalm, After He Was Confronted by Nathan About the Affair with Bathsheba

What an awesome cry of repentance, after he had been found out. Imagine the power behind his prayer if he had given before someone else pointed out his sin

  10. The message version: 16-17 Going through the motions doesn’t please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you. I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.

How awesome! KJV states He does not a sacrifice or burnt offerings but a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart is where He can work. Have we knelt at an alter and proclaimed “I will not sin again” while our heart was not moved at the statement or the passion of forgiveness from God? He knows the intent of our heart and actions. He knows whether the soul/heart/spirit were in the statement or if we were just going through the motions of repentance.

  11. even though God knows all he still wants us to confess our sins to him. when we dont, its like there not real but when we began to confess them unto God, he can began to clean us. i thank God that i serve a God of many chances and one who loves me enough to want to hear from my heart

  12. Repent!!!!

This chapter is showing us how we should repent. It speaks of cleansing ourselves
    before we do anything else.

His forgiveness is the greatest miracle we could ever see. We don’t deserve it.

Before we offer any other sacrifice he wants to see us offer righteousness.

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches]?

Conquering the devil with holiness and rightousness puts a smile on Gods face.

  13. HOW TO PLEASE GOD

Too often “RELATIONSHIP” with GOD is confused with “restrictions” with GOD. I have heard the phrase over the years; you Pentecostals cant do anything. Nothing is father from the truth. We can do about anything we desire. The question that should be posed is does this please GOD. Pleasing GOD is a lifestyle; not an event.

From the verses above we find what pleases GOD.

    1. Praise from our lips.
    2. Brokenness, not arrogance or pride.
    3. Sincere REPENTANCE
    4. Righteous Living
    5. Generous OFFERINGS

These 5 areas are evidence that we LOVE GOD and seek a sincere RELATIONSHIP with GOD.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

    NOW

  14. This chapter has been quoted by many on the heels of a tragic mistake. We read this with an understanding, and appreciation of the love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness of God. The Lord is ready to forgive.

    2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us- ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Yet behind the poetic cries for forgiveness lies a heart hurting with great pain, and agony. David feels separation between himself, and God.

His tears fall to the ground for destroying an innocent man, and breaking a marriage. The woman he has abused must forever live with regret, while the king is forever marked.

Forgiveness is truly amazing. Yet David would beg those planning to sin that the consequences of this error are far surpassing any pleasure had.

If we sin he will forgive.

It is better to fight hell, and high water to keep from sinning.

    Hebrews 6:4-6
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

A moment of pleasure is not worth another nail in our precious savior’s hand.

  15. Access–
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

You have to let God into your life and give Him access to all those hidden and hard to reach areas of your heart. He is such a gentile man that He knocks and waits to be let in. Bishop Foster said that God is the kind of gentile man that knocks and waits for you, but He always leaves His door open so that you can visit Him at anytime.

  16. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me

We must keep our hearts clean. How can we win souls if our spirit and attitude are wrong.A sinner will pick up on our attitude and will not be able to hear anything we are saying about our GOD .Lord help me to keep a right attitude and have a compassion for the soul that I am trying to win !

  17. In this scripture, it is clearly a passage of true repentance. To be purged, cleansed, set free from guilt. Also, to have your life, song, joy restored. The faster you confess your sin and acknowledge your wrong. The faster can work on restoring you. “Why delay”…”Confess and Repent”….and sing with joy again. Don’t forget to keep thst devil under your feet and make him turn and run.

    “Now”…………..

  18. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

The greatest sacrifice that anyone can offer is a true broke and contrite haeart, along with not only a spirit but a lifestyle that models who we as the church should be… Things can be given up easily, but when we give of ourselves, our lives, that is what only God knows the true measure of…

  19. NLT 8 Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice.
What one can look forward too, after asking to be forgiven for your sins. Your confession of guilt to God, sets you free to rejoice!

  20. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
    In Jesus name.Amen!

  21. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Pride is the exact opposite of what this verse talks about. Brokenness and a contrite heart are a sacrifice to God. Don’t allow pride to keep you from sacrificing to God. If God does not despise the sacrifice through brokenness then the opposite would be He does despise pride. Let it not take root in our hearts but allow God to chasten us. Better to hurt a little here then to spend eternity in Hell.

  22. 1-3 Generous in love—God, give grace!
Huge in mercy—wipe out my bad record.
    Scrub away my guilt,
soak out my sins in your laundry.
    I know how bad I’ve been;
my sins are staring me down.

We all have guilt in our lifes, and try to run from it or make it go away but only one can take it away and turn our lifes around.Amen.

    Might God is he!

  23. v15 O LORD open thou myjps, and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise

When we recognize our sin and its resulting cost then we understand how underserved is HIS gift of salvation.

Romans 5:8 HE LOVED US while we were yet sinners.

The best we can do is live with genuine thanksgiving in our hearts because HE paid the debt we could not pay.
The LORD CAN restore us if we will accept restoration . You can have a new beginning.
GOD help us repent of our failures and begin again.

NOW I must open my mouth and Praise GOD.

    iGive Thanks
    iPray

  24. Half the battle is finding a stopping place in our pity party and recognizing that if we want our life situation to get any better…its not going to come from our might..or resources etc. Insanity in fact is repeating the same cycle expecting a difference. We must sincerely desire to untie the blindfold of kosmos and flesh and realize that only by dying as Christ died on the cross will we ever true live as god intended us to the day He formed us in our mothers womb. The psalms here recognizes his need for redemption…Jesus hadn’t died on the cross yet, but he knew that only by God washing away his transgression was he ever going tobe cleansed. Oh there is still power in the blood! Getting in God’s presence you will begin to understand His will. Even His future will. It makes no sense to someone wearing a blindfold. When trying to determine objects wearing a blindfold one could guess by touch or taste. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to guess or wonder. His word makes i t clear that he reveals himself to those who seek His face. If you are frustrated will that nusance of a blindfold called life..there’s good news Jesus died upon a cross to carrying those transgressions and sins and took them to the devil and handed them back. His people would no longer need those sins. Those weights. Burdens to slow them down or blind their view. So if Jesus died so that I would be clan in His sight then why would I ever want to get dirty again? God new it would be a struggle for us to stay consecrated to him or clen moment by moment and that’s why He blessed us so greatly with His Spirit to live within us. This is truly living. You now have full access use it. Remember to continually make sure He has full access to you

  25. This chapter illustrates candor. David was straightforward in his acceptance of his sin and genuine in his repentance. Although God (Jesus) knows all, one must confess and be truthful with God; “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  26. Great Chapter! Recognizing your sin and turning to the Lord in repentance is a lesson taught in this chapter. Turning from the pride of life will help us maintain a repentant spirit.

  27. We just talked about David in my Sunday school class. One of my students was floored that God would forgive a murderer. His eyes looked at me really big and his mouth was wide open as I explained that God loves us so much that no matter what we do he will forgive us if we come to Him in true repentance. Knowing this does not give us the right to sin but it gives us hope that we are never too fare away from God that He can not reach us.

  28. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. (Psalms 51:17 NLT)

It’s a heart condition. A broken and repentant heart.

  29. Life NOW

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

    Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

    Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If we want the promise NOW, we must let go of the past, which means we must have every weight and sin dealt with. We can’t go forward if we’re tied down to yesterday. Victorious living is one of continuous renewing, a process of daily repentance and refreshing in the Holy Ghost. The only way to truly *live* is to have Jesus, the one who *is* life, who defeated death, hell, and the grave.

NOW is our time, and NOW is the time to cast off every weight and sin and look to Jesus!

    2 Corinthians 6:2
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

  30. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

If my people will humble themselves and pray, turn from their wicked ways, then shall I…God hears the broken.

  31. Verse 12 NLT reads “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” The chapter speaks of a soul that is crying out for forgiveness after being found out. The Lord will hear your cry if your spirit is right, for he knows your true heart and intentions. If we have gone off track ask the the Lord to restore that joy of your salvation because the devil can never take that from you. It may seem distant or hard to recall but search (pray) like you’ve never searched before until you find it once again.

  32. 10 Create in me a clean heart , O God ; and renew a right spirit within me . 11 Cast me not away from thy presence ; and take not thy holy spirit from me .12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation ; and uphold me with thy free spirit .

  33. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

O LORD JUST PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take from me YOUR HOLY SPIRIT………. I love YOU JESUS and I thank You LORD for everything ……….
