Psalm 55

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

  1. This is my prayer.
That the people who try to control me the Lord will not let that happen.
That I will forever live and sacrifise myself unto the Lord with all my heart.
My heart is where Jesus is.

  2. 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Smooth talk has always set off bells in my head telling me that I might need to watch out.

  3. If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God. (Psalms 55:12-14 NIV84)

It amazes me in how easy it is to work with people that can easily hurt you and you forgive the co-worker, but if it is a brother/sister in Christ that has gossiped, hurt, stabbed you in the back, whatever the case may be. Grudges, bitterness, distance, etc. are held against them in your heart.
FORGIVE that YOU may be FORGIVEN!!

  4. Pile your troubles on God ‘s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin. But you, God, will throw the others into a muddy bog, Cut the lifespan of assassins and traitors in half. And I trust in you. by the Philistines in Gath (Psalm 55:22, 23 MSG)

Pile your load on God’s shoulders in Prayer!!!

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

  5. v22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

So why should we worry over situations,
HIS WORD says, ” be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto GOD” Philippians 4:6

Our GREAT GOD does not want us to worry or be troubled with care. We must not be anxious but cast all of our cares upon HIM, for HE cares for HIS people. 1 Peter5:7

There is a difference between worry and concern. We must be concern about dangers and pitfall with prayer and we are not to worry.
We should be wise to satan’s tactics and knowledgable of his devices. Deception is his specialty . 2 CORINTHAINS 2:11

All deceivers will receive a just reward.

  6. 13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

Forsake not the assembling of yourselves. It is good for us to seek Godly counsel in times of need. God places those in authority over us to help us grow. Growth hurts , but it is in these times that God can do great things.

  7. 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

This world is not my home
    I’m just a passing through
My treasures are laid up omewhere amongst the blue
The Angels becon me from heavens open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world my more

  8. 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

The closer the relationship the more painful a hurt is. That shouldn’t keep us from making friends, but rather encourage us to make Jesus our closest friend. Man will always let u down somehow but Jesus never will.

  9. THE PAIN AND HEALING OF BETRAYAL

Betrayal is one of the most painful experiences in life. It becomes especially painful when someone we trust has left us, turned their back on us or speaks negatively against us.

Pride is the root of all sin and the cause of betrayal. An equal attempting to take advantage over another, inflicting serious pain on the believer.

I am thankful for specific instructions when these painful occurrences happen.

Verses 16 and 17 give us clear instructions on how to overcome:

    1. Call on GOD
    2. Pray 3 times a day
    3. Cry aloud

Let it out! Let the hurt out to GOD not to other people that are very capable of hurting you also. Trust in GOD.

    iTrust
    iCry ALOUD
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

    NOW

    Bless you ALL!

We love and miss each of you! See you soon.

  10. This chapter illustrates trust. He prayed continually for the only one he could truly trust was God (Jesus). One must never become complacent; one must pray continually and trust the Lord. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  11. In verse 22, cast uour buren upon the Lord, and he will sustain you. It was never your problem to begin with. Give it to God, he’s strong enough to carry it and you. Being that we are made righteous through Christ Jesus, he won’t suffer us to be moved.

    “Now”…….

  12. Repentance

19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

These people in the verse don’t repent! They won’t turn around. They do not fear God. Those of us who fear God do the things that please God like repenting. We turn from our own selfcenteredness to a God/ Christ centered life. From this verse we can tell that repentance is not only necessary from the New Testament, but also as a way to show God that you fear him in a holy way.

  13. In the ups and downs of our lives we have to keep our eyes on Jesus. Whenever we are weary, penniless, or sick he is the same God. I trust in him through all life’s battles.

  14. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

That “moved” I think has to be in regards to be moved by the enemy or fear. For God is a God of Joy and Joy is a happiness that demands movement, action, on our part. The righteous needs to move in their community be part of the answer to the problem and not part of the problem. “He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” the enemy will have no power over you, only the power you allow him to have. I shall not be moved… there is nothing the enemy can do to move me from HIS Grace and Mercy.

  15. Verses 16-17 NLT read “But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. ”

Psalm 34:17 NLT says “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.”

Verse 22 NLT reads “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”

No need to fret or worry, just cast your cares upon the Lord. The Lord will rescue his people from all their troubles. Thank you Jesus.

  16. 1-3 Open your ears, God, to my prayer;
don’t pretend you don’t hear me knocking.
Come close and whisper your answer.
    I really need you.
I shudder at the mean voice,
    quail before the evil eye,
As they pile on the guilt,
    stockpile angry slander.

Don’t be scared or lose hope on God. He is always there by yourside with his mighty hand and angles helping you throug your troubles. He always hears your crys out for help. So when there seems there is no way to go just remember he is right there to help you.

  17. 5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

There comes a time when we must take the opportunity of faith and cast our care upon the Lord. Some situations we would love to run from to escape, yet we are unable to truly run to salvation because we were *positioned* there for salvation. Will we take the opportunity for God to be glorified in our situation? Will we let Him show Himself strong and mighty? Will we take the stand of faith and trust in Him?

    Exodus 14:1-4, 10-14

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so.

10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.

11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

  18. 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Pray without ceasing… One thing that in sure of is that prayer works and God hears all prayers although sometimes we must pay attention to what God answers

  19. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

I know that I KNOW IN WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED IN….. My sweet JESUS , I thank you DADDY that you brought me out of the pit of destruction and you have delivered me from being a deceitful person…….. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!

  20. Fly Away

I can almost hear David’s deep sigh of wary longing in this chapter. His enemies press in around him (vs3), he’s unsure who can be trusted around him, and he’s terrified (vs5) . All he wants is to get away from it all.

How often have we felt the same way- perhaps even used silimar words” “Oh, if I could only just get away from it all!” To fantasize about escaping from the dificult or demanding aspects of our reality is a human response Jesus understands completely. That’s why he offers us his own presence and way of life as the refuge we crave. “28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:28-30). The Lord never gets tired, and those who rely on his strength will always find renewal. “28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isa 40:28-31). In the midst of whatever challenges life presents, we can run to Jesus and find rest for our weary souls. Their is no need to try and run away from our circumstances life hands us, instead we should run to the Lord with them as David does here. One bright morning when this life is over …I’ll fly away! This is the renuion we should instead be looking forward to & continue to run the good race.

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

  21. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord , and he shall sustain thee : he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved . 23 But thou , O God , shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction : bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days ; but I will trust in thee .
