Psalm 58

1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.

Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

  1. Every man is born in sin and shapen in inquiry. Without the love of God and the fruit of the spirit operating in our lives, we might find ourselves rejoicing when vengeance of The Lord comes to those who have mistreated us. We must daily be careful because we will be judged by the same judgement we hand out to others. Lord help us keep our focus and let God be God.

  2. 10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Thank you JESUS!!! There is a reward for the righteous!!! THANK YOU JESUS !!!

  3. 1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

    Weighted and Wanting

The word admonishes us not to compare ourselves with ourselves. When we do we will always be able to justify our actions. If we weigh ourselves with the Word, we won’t always find such favorible results. Many times we have alterior motives, or reasoning. Other times we have the best of intensions, and fail mesiberably. Either way, according to the Word, we are wrong.

If we study the Word and walk it out with the upmost of reverance, God will show us where we need to improve. It is only by the great mercies that is extended to us that we get the chance to make right when we mess up. We have the option as the church as to whether we forgive those who have back-slidden, and those who know not the mercies of our Lord, or whether we condem them, ( essentially condeming ourselves). Rememer the Word warns us that by the same measure we judge, we too will be judged…

  4. Vs 6 MSG
Let their lives be buckets of water spilled,
all that’s left, a damp stain in the sand

This is why we need to have the river of living water flowing in us. If the water is continually flowing who can spill it out

  5. 1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
11 So that man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Watch what you say because one day we will be judged according to the judgment we pass on others. As a congregation we should love eachother and visitors, not allow the devil to create devision between brothers and sisters. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Like Brother Tallant preached sunday night, I have the Holy Ghost same as you, nobody is better than the other. Be righteous and judge uprightly because judgement will come to us all.

    There Is A Reward

So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth. (Psalms 58:11 KJV)

Many times we see the prosperity of the ungodly, and we see those who lie, cheat, and steal succeed in life. We wonder why they are so well off and why we are in such a struggle…

THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS…JUDGEMENT IS COMING…

Just as God sees every evil thing we do (that’s why we are convicted over the smallest things) God also sees every good thing we do. (Even though we are always tempted to think that somehow God doesn’t see the small good things)…fact of the matter is…JUDGEMENT IS COMING.

  7. 3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

We are all born in sin. It doesn’t matter how our parents lived, we too have sin in our lives. It’s by our choice to live for God that we will be saved not by riding the skirt tail of the past generations salvation. We must seek out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). As parents we must also realize that our little angels are not so perfect. Despite our decisions and lifestyle they will have to make the choice themselves. It’s our duty to teach them in the way they should go (prov 22:6), pass on the heritage, and close the generational gap (great teaching in leadership last night!). All this can be said for our spiritual children as well. Going through the plan of salvation is the beginning of a lifelong process. Discipling is a necessity to get our feet planted on the path to heaven.

  8. This chapter illustrates resemblance. In that time there were evil thoughts, deeds and actions, and wicked ruling. All the more why one today must awake and pray for righteous thoughts, deeds and actions, and Godly ruling; “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  9. Verse 11 NLT reads “Then at last everyone will say, “There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”

Psalm 37:28 NLT says “For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die.”

  10. 4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

The poison of a deaf adder is a hemotoxin, which means it eats away at the flesh. When a negative word is spoken, it takes root and begins to fester. Then if we do not allow those words to role off, it begins to become bitterness. This is a type of flesh eating, because it just eats away at everything, and you become num to the people around you, and even the move of God.

  11. 1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
    Matt. 7:1-5 ESV

We have all heard the phrase don’t judge me, when what we are really saying is we don’t want to be accountable for our actions/deeds. We are going to be judged for what we do and say when we get before God. What will God say about us?

  12. “So many times I’ve question, Certain Circumstances, And things I could not understand, Many times and trails weakness blurs my vision and my Frustration gets so out of hand, Its then I am reminded, Ive never been Forsaken, Ive never had to stand one test only, As I look at all my Victories And the spirit rises up in me, Its through the fire my weakness made strong

He never Promised that the cross would not get heavy and the hills would not be hard to climb, He never offered a victory without fighting , but he said help would always come in time, Just remember when your standing in the Valley of decisions and the Adversary says give in, Just hold on our lord will show up, And he will take you through the fire again!

I thought this song summed up this chapter…..so many times other people judge us and then we get to where we start questioning if what we are doing is right or wrong………..

  13. 2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

God knows our hearts, even though through our actions it may seem different tot the human eye

  14. Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Why do we see the things that we see?…that we may judge, or create conclusions? Or perhaps God wants us to pray.. Matthew 7:2 says “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

Sometimes God will allow us to see things and circumstances that we may take action, but what action shall we take? There are the wicked and there are the righteous. The ones who do harm and the ones to whom harm is done.. God is the only righteous judge. So it is essential to always bring a matter into the hands of The Righteous Judge. How can we present that matter? How do I walk into the courts of the Judge, the King, if not through prayer..? We are told to pray for one another, to love our neighbor as ourself. His Love covers a multitude of sins. Reflecting on this, I think that sometimes we might be shown things, or allowed for situations to happen in our life just that we may have that opportunity to show God’s love. To love like He loves. To intercede just like Moses for the people or like Abraham for a city where his nephew was. All I know is that God looks at the hearts. And I know that He does not listen to the wicked or prideful, but him that speaks with his heart, to him, He will listen. A broken and contrite heart, God will not despise. God is the rewarder of good and evil. And He will reward accordingly to the actions of people. He sees all things. Now there is always a choice..may we judge, or perhaps step in the gap and pray. May the Lord hear the cry of our hearts

  15. There is a reward for rightousness! Living by his commandments alone doesnt make you rightous but living a holy life unto him is worthy of a reward. As we present ourselves holy unto God he is pleased, a smile from the face of God. There was only one given the oppritunity to be sinless, only one that was not born a sinner. He is the holy one. The only way to become rightous is to become like him to be holy.

  16. The Bible says we wrestle not against flesh, and blood, but against the invisible dark forces.

One day judgment will come, and the righteous will shine. Until then it is up to us to look beyond the natural and realize that humanity is not our enemy.

Every living breathing person needs Jesus, and we can lead them to him.

  17. 10-11 The righteous will call up their friends
when they see the wicked get their reward,
Serve up their blood in goblets
    as they toast one another,
Everyone cheering, “It’s worth it to play by the rules!
God’s handing out trophies and tending the earth!”

God is the only one that can see your heart and the good and bad thing you do in life. But when he is passing out rewards to his children, I want to stand out and let him see my light for him. That I will be the first one that that will get his awsoem reward.

  18. Is this any way to run a country? Is there an honest politician in the house? Behind the scenes you brew cauldrons of evil, behind closed doors you make deals with demons. (Psalm 58:1, 2 MSG)
Lord have mercy!! I pray that righteousness prevails in this Nation, in our Church, and our most of all in our lives!!!
    Righteousness exalteth a Narion!

  19. NLT 1 Justice—do you rulers[b] know the meaning of the word? Do you judge the people fairly? 2 No! You plot injustice in your hearts. You spread violence throughout the land.

We all love to judge others by upon meeting them. We have the habit of “judging a book by its cover”. But judgement day is coming, and God is the only one who will judge fairly. God let me have a pure heart, and allow me to respect and honor those around me at all times.

  20. v11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous : verily he is a GOD that judgeth in the earth.

    Our Reward From GOD

GOD is the final judge HE IS a all knowing GOD and a Sovereign.
GOD is a just GOD and HE will reward both righteousness and unrighteousness.

  21. 11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

There is a reward for the righteous. The race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong, be he that endureth to the end. If we desire to see that reward we must continue down the path that God has put into place.

  22. Obtaining The Promises

11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Things do not always appear as there are. We rejoice when truth shines through, but we must stand in faith in times when reality seems far from perception.

    Galatians 6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

    Hebrews 11:1 KJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. (Hebrews 11:1 AMP)

Sometimes a thing will have to be real to us on the inside before it becomes manifested on the outside. Let’s not grow weary in faith but keep pressing on that we might obtain visibly.

    Hebrews 6:10-15
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

  23. 1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Thoughtful inspection and reflection is good for the soul. We have to take time to ask ourselves the hard questions and repent for our failings.

  24. Vengeance is mine says the Lord

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Let’s wait upon the Lord for He is GOOD and He is Just, He will take care of the wicked for us.

  25. EVIL IMAGINATIONS

2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

The MSG version sheds a little more light on the verse.

“Behind the scenes you brew cauldrons of evil,
behind closed doors you make deals with demons.”

It is the hidden things of the heart that will be the eternal destruction of many. We are called and challenged to be open and honest in all of our thoughts, desires and dreams. Anyone can put on a show for a season. Jesus described these people as white washed sepulchers. Looking clean on the outside but filthy on the inside.

Jeremiah 11:7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do: but they did them not.

EVIL IMAGINATIONS cause disobedience to the word of GOD.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Overcome evil with good. You are what you eat and you are what you think.

Paul said in Acts 26:2 I think myself HAPPY,

I think myself HAPPY, HOLY, VICTORIOUS, BLESSED.

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  26. The Venom of a Snake

Romans 3:10-18 gives a vivid description of what unredeemed human beings are like. Among other things, “The poison of vipers are on their lips.” (Ro 3:13). Their words can be deadly, and deep down, there mean as snakes.

Companies are saying that they spend more time and money ‘untraining’ people than they would in the 1st place. They don’t need know-it-alls, they like God need people who are willing to learn. Many ‘unredeemed’ people are just in that same boat they have already become set in their ways are rituals that they have become comfortable. Jesus when looking for disciples was also not as interested in finding capable people as he was in finding avaliable people. He was looking for teachable hearts. Perhaps that’s why he said in Matt 19:14 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Children learn quickly because they don’t have preconcieved ideas that kee them from hearing new and recieving it. Perhaps thats why he Jesus called a group of men who where in this way unlike the batch of yucky reliogious dough. The minds of the educated scribes and Pharisees of Israel were so loaded with false perceptions and man-made agendas, that it would have taken years to reprogram their thinking to God’s ways of thinking. Jesus was only going to be walking the earth for a short period of time, so he chose men without resumes, without formal education on Himself, with no previous evangelical work experience. In the middle of Luke, Jesus is recorded “45Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.”Jesus saw what the snakes couldnt, as exactly what he needed- followers with the potential for transformation. We appluad the thought of transformation, most don’t appreciate the process that gets us their. To be transformed means we have to change, and change too often hurts. God is more concerned with out character than our comfort, His goal is not to pamper us physically but to perfect us spiritually. The 1st step is the fire, not many are willing to jump in to be cleansed. “13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matt 7:13-14)

We may not want to own up to having such qualities before we were saved or afterward even, saved through faith in Jesus Christ. But this is how, according to the psalmist, our holy God sees the wicked. Unwilling to open their hearts and minds to His counsel, they are like deaf and dead serpents, refusing to be subdued by even the most heavenly tune. Wise Solomon tells us that fools despise godly instruction “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” (Pr 1:7). If you are trying to get through to a fool, beware. Not only will you probably fail, but you may also get a nasty bite in the process.

  27. 10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance : he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked . 11 So that a man shall say , Verily there is a reward for the righteous : verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth .
