Psalm 59

1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.

They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.

Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.

10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.

16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

  1. He who has the last laugh, laughs better. “El que rie ultimo, rie mejor”

8 But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Derision = the use of ridicule or scorn to show contempt
b : a state of being laughed at or ridiculed : a state of being derided

Sometimes I feel like the wicked gets away with all, they make fun of us, the way we are, and the way we live. However, on this psalm God is telling us that although it may look like they are getting away with it, there will be the day where our Lord will have the last laugh on them.

  2. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

It may seem rough now. The enemy may feel so close you can smell the foul stench escaping through is putrid mouth.

David said, when it feels like the enemy has you cornered then sing. Sing because God has delivered you before! Sing because the same power can remove this enemy as well as it did the last! Sing and rejoice because sometimes God is waiting on us to have the right attitude so he can move, and receive all the glory!

    Sing!

  3. I usually sing and pray quietly in the morning because I want people to finish sleeping in the house. I remember one time when I got ready in the morning, I thought that the hair dryer was a little louder than it actually was. Jessie said that I woke him up singing. He said it wasn’t loud, but he could tell what it was and it made him happy.

  4. But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

No matter what sitution I find myself in, I can know that if I am doing my part in keeping the commandments of The Lord, He will be everything I have need of. He will be my protection, refuge and strength, in Him will I trust.

  5. 11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

Sometimes we have to ask God to scatter our enemies, and not to slay them, because we too will forget His mighty hand, and how great He is if we don’t fight. Many times we, as a busy peaople, forget all the powerful moves that God has made in our lives. We forget the sin that we were delivered from. We forget the family members that hae repented. We forget the times that He moved in and made a way when there was no way. We

Because many religions are watered down and easy, we expect God to do the same. We want Him to wipe our enemies from the face of the earth. There is a few problems with that though:
    1) They are more than likely people, therefore they have souls and we should be trying to win them to Christ.
    2) He is trying to perfect us, into His image, and we need some sandpaper to be smoothed out.
    3) Often times people only run to God when they are having problems

If we, as the church would seek God’s face and allow Him to be our shield, we will know when to ask for Him to scatter, and when to ask Him to slay…

  6. 9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
This verse reminded of a kids song from veggie tales:

You were lying in your bed, You were feeling kind of sleepy, But you couldn’t close your eyes because the room was getting creepy. Were those eyeballs in the closet? Was that Godzilla in the hall? There was something big and hairy casting shadows on your wall. Now your heart is beating like a drum, Your skin is getting clammy, There’s a hundred tiny monsters jumping right in to your jammies! Bob: What are you going to do? Junior: I’m going to call the police! Bob: No. You don’t have to do anything! Junior: What? Why? Bob: Because… God is bigger than the boogie man. He’s bigger than Godzilla and the monsters on TV. Oh, God is bigger than the boogie man, And he’s watching out for you and me. Junior: ..So when I’m lying in my bed, And the furniture starts creeping,

  7. DONT SURRENDER YOUR SONG

16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

We are always in position to sing a song unto the LORD.

    His POWER
    His MERCY
    His DEFENSE
    His COVERING

Always remember your song, regardless of your season or storm. Sing your way through your trouble. Sing your way through your pain. Sing your way through your sorrows. DONT SURRENDER YOUR SONG
    for any situation or circumstance.

    iSing
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

    Sing NOW

  8. I’ll just laugh and say “Hey! Cut that out!” And get back to my sleeping. ‘Cause I know that God’s the biggest, and He’s watching all the while, So when I get scared, I’ll think of Him, close my eyes and smiiiiiiiiiiiiile!!! God is bigger than the boogie man. He’s bigger than Godzilla and the monsters on TV. Oh, God is bigger than the boogie man, And he’s watching out for you and me. Monster #1: So are you frightened? Junior: No not really! Monster #2: Are you worried? Junior: Not a bit! I know whatever’s gonna happen, that God can handle it! Frankencelery: I’m sorry that I scared you when you saw me on TV. Junior: Well that’s ok, ’cause now I know that God is taking care of me! God is bigger than the boogie man. He’s bigger than Godzilla and the monsters on TV. Oh, God is bigger than the boogie man, And he’s watching out for you and me. He’s watching out for you and me. Watching, watching, watching! Out for you and meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  9. ILove to eat the book

We wrestle not with flesh and blood

King David was in the era of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”. But I truely believe he understood the spiritual aspect of it all for many times he looses the angel of The Lord to attack.

As the Church of the Living God, our enemy is not people, but the spirit that influences people…

LET US SING THE SONGS OF WARFARE!!!

  10. Verses 9-10 AMP read “O my Strength, I will watch and give heed to You and sing praises; for God is my Defense (my Protector and High Tower). My God in His mercy and steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look [triumphantly] on my enemies (those who lie in wait for me).”

Psalm 18:2 AMP says “The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower.” Thank you Jesus!

  11. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

HALELUJAH!!! SANTO SANYO SANTO!!!! Te adoroooooo. CRISTO yo TE adoroooooo….. SEÑOR permita que mi vida sea como olor grato ante TI o DIOS DE MI SALVATION. Te amo Rey y DIOS mio. JESUS

  12. David did not only ask to be delivered from his enemies but he got discriptive of which enemies that he needed to be delivered from. Many times we don’t receive deliverance because we are not specific enough of what it is that we need deliverance from.

  13. But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. (Psalms 59:16 NLT)

    The beautiful sound of Victory!!

  14. This chapter illustrates refuge. Although David was watched and taunted, he had protection in God (Jesus). There may come a time when one feels alone or beside oneself, nonetheless one can be at ease in knowing there is safety in God; “But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. As I read this a distant echo of a memory came back. I remember one of the preachers wives I use to attend church under saying don’t let the devil steal your song. I don’t remember the conversation clearly but she told us that several years before they lost a son in a tragic accident. She couldn’t find peace or healing until much later she realized that through her circumstances she had let the devil steal her song. Once she got her praise back God was able to restore her.

If the devil can steal our song then he takes our victory and we stay in brokenness. Protect your song and sing!

  16. 7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

The enemy equips our adversaries with swords but God gives us full body armor and a sword!

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

    14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

    15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

  17. 1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from those that rise up against me.
9 Because of his strength will I wait upon the: for God is my defence.
17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy

AMEN!!!!!! It’s always good to know the Lord has my back, he strengthens me, he defends me. I might not get what I want when I want it but there is no better time than His time. He is an On Time God and I will wait on him and trust in him forever. His mercy is GREAT and I am so unworthy but oh so greatful to have such a merciful, loving faithful God. Halelujah! Thank You Jesus!! I will praise him with every breath he gives me for every day he gives me! Thank You God for your mercy!!!!

  18. In this scripture, you will see that God is still our defence and our strength. But, you will also see the psalmist interceded for the people, for God not to slay but to scatter by his power. We need this today with all that is going on in America & abroad.

Remember, Jesus said if Satan’s kingdom was devided it would not stand, “Scatter” OH God, I pray in Jesus name.

Open the eyes of the lost, and scatter them but save them I pray in Jesus name. We all have sinned, and fell short to God’s Glory, and he is the God of mercy.

Oh, yes, I will be singing his praise! He is my refuge, my deliverer, my defence, and essentially my everything.

    “Now”…………………………………………

  19. 6-7 They return when the sun goes down,
They howl like coyotes, ringing the city.
Then suddenly they’re all at the gate,
Snarling invective, drawn daggers in their teeth.
They think they’ll never get caught.

    8-10 But you, God, break out laughing;
you treat the godless nations like jokes.
Strong God, I’m watching you do it,
I can always count on you.
God in dependable love shows up on time,
shows me my enemies in ruin.

Our enemies may think they are stronger and bigger than us but We have God on our side and God is bigger and stronger than any other person.

What a might God we serve!

    Romans 8:31
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

  20. Vs. “Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.”

Defense means – a defending; guarding against attack; keeping from harm or danger.

When it seems like the enemy is coming in like a flood, the best thing I can do is WAIT upon God. He is my defence. He is my protector, and he will keep me from harm.

So I stand upon his Word today that says, “When the emeny shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:18b)

  21. The Lord is my shepard…..the Lord layeth me down in green pasters…(Psalms 23).Alot of times we have to rebuke things that are hanging over us…or hindering us and it will flee from us.
Let God’s virtue flow thru you and the enemy has to STOP In Jesus’ Name. thank you Jesus for giving me authority over my life, and His Name is Jesus Christ.

  22. Continually we see David trust God through his battles. He begins his fight in prayer before he ever picks up a sword or gives a command. He waits on The Lord to speak, give him a sign or make a way. He. Knew how to fallow the word of God and trust in his wisdom. How many battles do we get in the middle of and then start praying? How many times could we have saved ourselves much suffering by talking to God first? I have a long list of battles that could of been avoided by just waiting on The Lord. A wise man told me “Don’t pray that God will change your situation, rather that he would birth your actions.”

  23. 7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

8 But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

The enemies try to get us down and hold us back from praising God but as long as we keep praising The Lord the enemies can’t stop us.

  24. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Thank you Jesus for keeping me from harm. For being a provider, deliverer in time of trouble. I will praise His name among the nations. I will declare the good things that He has done. Great and mighty is our God.

  25. 1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.

2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

These verses remind me of the Lords prayer when it mentions “Deliver me from evil” The writer is pleading with God to deliver him and save him. I am thankful that God hears our pleas and delivers us in the nick of time….

  26. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Praising God for the victories is such a boost for our faith when we’re in a dark trial. Singing has a way of bringing hope & joy! Singing praises is bragging on God and with our faith high-anything is possible.

Praise Report: I have had the opportunity to show my Dad more scripture on receiving the Holy Ghost and being re-baptized in Jesus name during our morning time of reading the Word! Can’t wait to read him more of God’s word tomorrow! Thank you Jesus.

  27. 17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy

The Lord is my strength and my defence!!!!God you are merciful to me!!

  28. v17 Unto ghee, O my strength, will I sing: for GOD is my defense, and the GOD of my mercy.

Victory is our song of praise. Our great GOD is faithful and will deliver us. We are overcomes because our victory is in the LORD.

    iPray
    iSing
    iPraise
iOvercome by the word of our testimony.
iReap The VICTORY through CHRIST JESUS!

  29. 12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

We must remember who is in control over our lives. When we allow God to work on our behalf for us, God is on control. It’s when we take matters into our own hands when more so than not, we will get in trouble.

  30. 8 But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.

The enemy of our soul would like to overcome us, but we must remember:

    Romans 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Sometimes it is just a simple faith that we need to turn aside the raging storm, not some fancy sermon or emotional prayer. The enemy would like for us to get confused and complicate the issue to frustrate our faith and hinder us from maintaining that childlike faith we must have. If God be for us…

Perhaps it’s time to speak first to the inner storm “do you really believe God is for you?” If we can get that straightened out, the outer storm will begin to look small in comparison to Jesus. He is not only able but He is on our side!

    Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Love God, and open the door for Him work all things for your good and His purpose!

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Our Jesus is intentional about doing us good, but will we be intentional in our faith? Don’t leave it to feelings or happenstance, make up your mind to *believe*!

    NOW Faith

  31. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

  32. 16 But I will sing of thy power ; yea , I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning : for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble . 17 Unto thee , O my strength , will I sing : for God is my defence , and the God of my mercy .

  33. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Truly I will sing of the goodness of the Lord. Without him we are nothing, but through him we can do all things.

  34. People who pay no heed to God and his righteousness a step further: They think that God isn’t paying attention to them and that they will get away with their rebellion. But God is all ears and all eyes, and he is fully aware of the fultillity of wicked schemes (Ps 94:7-11). David expresses confidence in the inevitable humiliation of his enemies. They will be brought low, not necessarily by a dramatic sweep of God’s sword but by the the thunder of his scournful laughter. Those who refuse to bow to God’s authority may think they’re getting away with something, but in truth and word: God will have the las laugh. He knows their day is coming (Ps 10:13-16). So that we don’t get the wrong idea, in which dirrection I speaking of here is 2Pe 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” He doesn’t want our enemies to die, because they are his of his design too, he shaped them in the womb too, they however have been plauged and fallen host to the ‘worm that will not die’ (Isa 66:24) God simply wants for us to ” love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” (Luke 6:35).

This isn’t by any means David calling for personal revenge on his enemies. It is however a call for God’s justice to be weighed and measured out. God the judge, God the Righteous One, will eventually pass judgment on those who rebel against him, not only in David’s time, but in ours also, and in the future to come (2 Th 1:8).
