Psalm 62

1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

  1. 8 Trust in him at all times, ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Se’lah.

11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

    2 Cor. 1:9~10
9 Butwe had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
    10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

THANK YOU JESUS FROM BRINGING ME OUT!!
I worship YOU the King of my SALVATION.
    NOW

  2. 1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

When we get self out of the way then God can do what he has to do. If God be for us we need not fear what men can do against us. We are going to face challenges and trails thru our walk with God. But if we lean on our rock God he will make a way.

  3. The importance of WORK

iWork = a lot of people think that they are saved by faith alone, they tend to get upset when our Pastor speaks about “Faith without work is nothing.” I think they need to re-read James 2:14-26 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

In today’s Psalm we are warned that we must have work and by our works we will be judge for it is our work that shows our fruits.

12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Although we must always keep this in mind NOW, lets never forget:

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

  4. 1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

David is declaring in this chapter is trust in the Almighty God. He fully is committed to waiting on the timing of the Lord and not take matters into his own hands.

When we fully are committed and trust the Lord, we run to Him, the rock of our salvation when we are in trouble, in need of strength, encouragement and our faith to be strengthened, and we wait patiently for the answer to come. Where we get into trouble, is when we don’t wait, and we are moved from the “patiently waiting” to acting on our own behalf. We truly have a testimony when we can speak with our mouth our expectation of the Lord and then with our actions wait patiently upon Him to fulfill that expectation. The old attage actions speak louder than words is very true. Is what I am doing on a daily basis telling others that I truly trust in the Lord and wait upon Him for daily bread and guidance for my life? Am I moved by others opinions and others actions and removed from under the cleft of the Rock, removed from His protection, removed from the covenant relationship between me and Jesus to follow what people say instead of the Word of God? Food for thought.

  5. 1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

I am reminded of Isaiah 40:31 (They that wait upon the LORD.) We must learn the value of waiting upon God not doing without a purpose. It is kinda like running without a message! Let my soul wait on you God!
Because only from God comes my salvation. Salvation from, drugs, alcohol, deliverance from what ever our need is salvation is rescued from what is our problem or hindering us from being ALL we can be.
    More than conquers

  6. THE ROCK, MY ROCK II

5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Rocks don’t move much and they sure don’t move fast, unless an unnatural source has taken control.

We are called of GOD by GOD, THE ROCK of our salvation. God gave Moses instructions concerning the Glory of GOD.

Exodus 33:21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

The place by GOD is a ROCK. Solid, Stable. The ROCK wont move and we must also chose to not move. Stand on the ROCK Christ JESUS.

Choose this day who you will serve. Stand FIRM IN and ON your decision to TRUST in GOD.

Impatience has been the murder of many dreams and promises of GOD.

TRUST in GOD and HE will bring IT to pass. Stand STILL and see his salvation.

***Here is a prophetic WORD for someone TODAY!

It is NOT time to move! Stand STILL and SEE the LORD!

  7. He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved. With God rests my salvation and my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness, and my refuge is in God! Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! (Psalm 62:6-8 AMP)
    AMEN!

  8. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

When we get drilled into God, this is when we cannot be moved. He is strong and mighty. He is my strength and shelter ALWAYS.

  9. v1 Truly my soul waiteth upon GOD: from him cometh my salvation.

Seems that durning our weakness GOD shows HIMSELF Strong. I’m thankful that GOD’S POWER is always available to us at all times of need.

v8″ Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: GOD is a refuge for us. Selah.

GOD is our source of strength and comfort
” Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” Proverbs 3:4-5

Many times we may not understand the storms of life or the reasons why they come
but, GOD will direct us through them if we trust and acknowledge HIM.

    iPray
    iSeek
    iTrust

  10. This chapter illustrates anchoring. Although there were those that sought to do evil, he anchored himself in God (Jesus). The only sure security one will ever find is in Jesus; “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  11. 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him….
8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

To whom do you pray? That question came to mind as I read this verses. When we come to realization that there’s no human possible thing that can be done about something..to whom do we run to? A friend? A counselor? Some other professional? Perhaps those that do works of iniquity and witchcraft. Some get to the desperate state where they will try anything. The truth of the matter is, that we all go through that desperate “stage” in our lives. Anxiety, stress, pain, heartache, desperation…! And it is there that we are willing to do whatever it takes to aliviate the pain, to resolve the situation. There’s a huge rock that you can’t move. It is there that we must remember that the Lord is our help and our salvation. It is there that we must remember the He is still in control. In the previous chapter David wrote of how “his heart was overwhelmed…” we must remember, like David did, to tell our souls to wait only on Him, for our expectation comes from Him…But it seems so hard; I don’t know if I can’t take this anymore. I have no peace; il desperate!! Then he says in verse 8 “trust Him at all times, POUR OUT YOUR HEART BEFORE THE LORD… There are something’s that only God can do…and perhaps that is the test. He may want to prove himself mighty and great. He may just want you to trust Him. Now you’ve done your thing and tried everything. Now if you allow me, watch what I can do says the Lord… Every situation is different, but one thing I know for sure, if you repent of anything and humble yourself and with a right contrite heart you come to Him and pour out..He will not turn you away.
    Cry out to Jesus!

  12. Ilove to eat the word

10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

When The Lord blesses us with increase, we are not to set our hearts on it. We need to remain humble and remain ready to help those in need. God is looking for someone to bless… But can he find the person who will not trust in riches?

  13. 11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

Out of the mouth of two witnesses let every word be established. Power Belongs to him, and in case you forgot power belongs to him

  14. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

We see here that David moves from not being greatly moved, to not being moved, all in the matter of a couple verses. David not only was fully convinced in who he trusted, but also became fully convinced in his own personal stance.
We too as the church should be as confident in our walk as David, where we have our minds fully made up that we will not be moved. When we finially take the stance of not being moved, many of the obstacles that have been hindering us in our personal walks, as well as in our walk as a church will begin to fall to the side.

  15. Refuge From Despair

8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

    Hebrews 6:17-20
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

I am reminded of a message Bro Jeff Arnold called “Refuge From Despair.” To pull part of the punchline from v19 of the Hebrews passage “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.” That which is within the veil is Jesus; our anchor holds because it is in Jesus. Jumping back to today’s Psalm, God is our refuge, our refuge from despair. He’s our great high priest that’s entered into the veil:

    Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Pour out your heart, come boldly to the throne of grace that that anchor of hope would not fail but remain rooted in Jesus. We must put all our hope in Him; we cannot earn grace or our salvation for that matter. Having our anchor in Jesus means not just knowing Him but being known by Him and allowing Him to be Savior of all of us.

    NOW Faith
    NOW Salvation
    NOW be anchored in JESUS

  16. 11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

There is POWER in the name of Jesus! Power to be saved, healed and delivered. Miracles will be testified about that resulted from tonights service! Praise His Holy Name!

  17. 12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work

I do not want to be lazy, and not do my part in the work of the Lord !!
Thank you God for your mercy, and allowing me to be a laborer in your kingdom!!

  18. 8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Trusting in Him because my life is in His hands and He has a path for me to walk in His will and His way.

  19. 3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

Have you every really looked at a tottering fence? I grew up in the country. Many of the older farms had leaning fences. Tottering fences are only good for city folk to see where your property stops. If a fence is tottering it does not hold in livestock or hold out dogs that come to devour livestock. If a man is like a tottering fence than his defenses have been breached. He is letting out all the good that is within him. His treasurers/possessions/the things he values are able to wonder off, or worse yet, they can be snatched right out of where they should be safe.

Tottering fences are good to be knocked down one panel at a time and replaced. –one chapter at a time we are building stronger fences in our church.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

God is our wall. He is our fence. He is wat keeps out the devourer of our precious promises, revelations, and the other treasures of our hearts. If we continue to replace our tottering fences with His fences then we shall not be moved. It is when we become weak in the word and prayer that we allow ourselves to totter again. Then the enemy can come and devour the revelations that we have received from heaven.

    iblog–I maintain/rebuild/replace my tottering fences!

  20. 12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

He is a rewarder of faithfulness and hard work. Our work is not going unnoticed. He sees what we are doing and our reward is coming. I loose our financial miracle in Jesus name. Our building is a few days away in Jesus name.

  21. Verses 10-12 CEV read:

    “Don’t trust in violence
    or depend on dishonesty
    or rely on great wealth.
I heard God say two things:
    “I am powerful,
    and I am very kind.”
The Lord rewards each of us
    according to what we do.”

Stand firm, trust, depend and rely only on Jesus and you don’t have to worry about being shaken.

Verse 2 NLT “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.”

  22. 5 My soul , wait thou only upon God ; for my expectation is from him . 6 He only is my rock and my salvation : he is my defence ; I shall not be moved . 7 In God is my salvation and my glory : the rock of my strength , and my refuge , is in God . 8 Trust in him at all times ; ye people , pour out your heart before him : God is a refuge for us Selah .

  23. God is my rock and my strength. He is our refuge. He is our Glory and our Salvation…..Amen & Amen.

    “Now”……..

  24. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is mydefence; I shallnot be moved.

7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rockof my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pourout yourheartbeforehim:Godis a refuge for us. Selah.

With God on our side and the holy ghost with us nothing can stop us.
God is our rock to lean on and run to in help. Nothing can stop us or tare us down but we can tare down walls and troubles in our way to God.

  25. Raging Thirst

The Psalms are full of earthy, palpable descriptions of intense longing for God. Here David uses the metaphor of raging thirst to describe how desparately he wants to experience God’s refreshing presence. He takes his soul and his body long for God: a desire so intense that only an encounter with the lover of his soul will revive him. God’s love for us is just as intense; he longs for communion with us ..consider Isa 30:18 “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of justice: blessed are all they that wait for him.” as we long for communion with him. Like David, we can bring any need to him, trust he will meet it and then go forth praising him like David says in vs 11 “But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God’s name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.”

    • This comment above was intended for chapter 63 so Im going to copy and paste it to chapter 63, and write chapter 62’s comments bellow.

  26. Rest

David talks about finding rest in the Lord’s presence (vs 1 & 5) twice he mentions how he finds rest, and his salvation and his security (rock and fortress) I can personally agree with David on this subject, because their really is a sigh of relief when we can trust just a person, but their is an even greater joyful relief in knowing that we can place our trust in God to take the steering wheel of what is best, because he is the Best of the Best, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Employers look for someone they can trust and rely on, owners look for quality and quantity in products, homes and cars. People want to rely and rest, but rarely do people actually want to pay the price, consider John 12: “25He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” A servant heart (humility/willingness for self denial) which David displays, paves the way for what we as Christians should strive for in our own characters, for it is demonstrated by Jesus on many accounts, most when he washed his discples feet in John 13: 8..”Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 11For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. 12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. ”

When we are busy in the Lords work, he is deep in our buisness. It is when we are full of Him we find rest. We can find rest in knowing God has it all under control. David could be down in the dumps from the whiplash drama he’s both provoked on his own, or challenged with along the rollercoaster in relationship with God. But like him we too can find rest, praying in the Holy Ghost can bring us rest, walking in holiness can bring us rest.

  27. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

These verses tell us that we should trust in God and in his provision. I love the phrase “I shall not be moved” because it shows to having strength and a made up mind. In every child of God’s life we have to determine in ourselves that no matter what comes or goes ” I shall not be moved” Im not going to leave God or God’s church but im standing steadfast in the Lord.
