Psalm 63

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

  2. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    Early will I seek thee

    This reminds me of pastor saying, ” I want to know that I need God before I need God!” I want to seek The Lord and have a relationship with him before trouble finds me. If you prioritize any list the item you check off the earliest is usually the item at the top of your least, foremost and most Important. Lets put God first and seek him early.

    Going to work in Jesus name!

    • Yes, that’s exactly what I said this morning.. ‘ Going to work in Jesus Name!’ Wouldn’t have any other way. Glory!!

  3. 9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

    Under the earth you will find our enemies and God Himself will put them there.

    Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

  4. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. (Psalms 63:1-8 KJV)
    Lord that everyday morning, noon, and night that I will never stop praising you. No matter the circumstances that I am in, whether in the wilderness or on top of a mountain! Lord for you are worthy to be praised, you are everything that I live for, I breath you in for you are my breath of life! Ah GOD HOLY, RIGHTEOUS You are!!!!!!

  5. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: Let me start the day with praise on my lips and always in my heart.for the Lord.

  6. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! (Psalms 63:3 NLT)

    This is the kind of love I want this valentines. The constant love of Jesus Christ. When your up He loves you, when your down He loves you. Through the thick and thin His love remains the same unchanged! We need to thank Him with praise and adoration for His unfailing love!

  7. Glued to God

    Psalms 63:8
    My soul followeth HARD after thee:
    thy right hand upholdeth me.

    The word hard is the Hebrew word dubaq which means to stick to, cleave to, devotion, and loyalty.

    He was saying I want to be so focused on living for God that I am literally glued to him. What better place to be than glued to Jesus. It’s the same word used in Genesis 2:24
    Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall CLEAVE unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

    We should be so focused on seeking after God that no one, and nothing can peel us off. Nothing can get between us, and The Lord.

    Deuteronomy 30:20
    That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest CLEAVE unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

    No place I’d rather be than glued to the master!

  8. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

    David didn’t have the privilege that we have of knowing the name but he still worshipped the name. How much more we who have the name should lift it up.

    In the name of Jesus!

  9. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
    2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
    3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
    4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
    5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
    SANTO!!! SANTO!!! SANTO!!!
    I love YOU JESUS!!!
    There is NO ONE LIKE THEE OOOO LORD NONE COMPARE TO YOU JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!! YES 8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

    7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

    HALELUJAH!!! Thank You JESUS!!! I love You DADDY =)

    • I PRAISE YOU DADDY!!!
      YOU HAVE CHANGED ME, REARRANGED MEE, I’LL NEVER BE THE SAAAAME WORTHY IS YOUR NAME!!! HALELUJAH!!! I thank YOU JESUS……

      IN JESUS NAME!!! =)

  10. ABBA

    1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    Father you are my Father! The first thing I seek to know in the morning; when I wake up is that you are here with me.

    Early will I seek you,

    Early = FIRST

    As my body is athirst when I wake up from a deep sleep, so is my soul thirsty for you when I wake up. When it appears that every thing in my life is gone; my strength, my hope, my friends; you ALONE LORD are what I long for.

    We must be consistently faithful in seeking the LORD to recognize when we are THIRSTY we can be deceived into looking to this world and it’s carnal system for help and assistance in dry times. These temporary opportunities of entertainment are merely a deceptive tease of this world and a mirage of false hope to humanity.

    The ONLY true drink of water is from the well of LIVING WATER, my Father; JESUS the Christ.

    HE is my water when I am thirsty!

    iDrink
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    Give God your first. When you get up and get your day going give God your first fruit. Jesus said, “Good things will happen to people that are hungry and *thirsty for *righteousness. They will have the *kingdom of *heaven”. Matthew 5:10
    The deepest desires of anyones heart will reveal itself through everyday life. We talk about it, read about it, eat about it, whatever it is. Could be the latest clothing fashion, newest game, newest phone. What is your deepest desire?
    Deepest desire for the christian should be love, compassion, winning the lost. The true christian child of God reads about God, talks about God, loves God.
    I want to be a light to the people around me. You never know when someone is watching you and how you affect someone. Be careful what you say and how you act. Remember yeah you can hide what you are doing wrong from people but GOD sees all.

  12. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    Who/ What is your God?

    Many people both in ands out of the church say that they serve the Lord, but their actions scream something else. When a person is hateful, mean, full of strife and envy and malice, they are obvisouly not serving Jesus. When someone has to get drunk or high all the time, or they sleep around, then I would bet that they are not serving the same King of Kings. When a person harbors unforgiveness in their heart, or or visits unholy sites online or in magizines, they are serving another God too.

    When a person wakes up to anything other than the name of Jesus, then he/ she is probably serving another god other than the one who laid his life down for the sins of the world, Jesus. In Matthew, Jesus addresses something telling us that it is easy to spot the sins of our neighbor, but often in doing so we neglect this huge pile of sin in our own lives. We must be ever diligent to rid the sin from our lives. No matter how long we have been in church, we all come short when we meausre ourselves to the Word.

    We must seek His face early in the morning. We must yern to spend time with our Savior. We must hunger for more of him…

  13. This chapter illustrates choice. David had a choice on how he reacted over his situations. One is free to complain or rejoice over ones situation, which the choice is one’s own, today; “Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life , my lips shall praise thee . 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live : I will lift up my hands in thy name . 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness ; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips : 6 When I remember thee upon my bed , and meditate on thee in the night watches .

  15. Verses 1-8 MSG:

    “God—you’re my God!
    I can’t get enough of you!
    I’ve worked up such hunger and thirst for God,
    traveling across dry and weary deserts.

    So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open,
    drinking in your strength and glory.
    In your generous love I am really living at last!
    My lips brim praises like fountains.
    I bless you every time I take a breath;
    My arms wave like banners of praise to you.

    I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy;
    I smack my lips. It’s time to shout praises!
    If I’m sleepless at midnight,
    I spend the hours in grateful reflection.
    Because you’ve always stood up for me,
    I’m free to run and play.
    I hold on to you for dear life,
    and you hold me steady as a post.”

    Wow….this chapter made me think about time. Do we work up a hunger and thirst for God? Do we bless and praise him every time we take a breath? Do we spend those sleepless nights in grateful reflection or do we find something else to fill the time? I want to spend my time in Jesus name!

  16. V8 followeth after thee
    Not part time following God but in everything not when following God and when something else comes go to that but staying focused on Him.

  17. 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

    It’s undeniable that at POFW we have been blessed with amazing moves of God, outpourings of the Holy Ghost, deliverances, etc. I thank God for allowing me to be a part of such a body of believers and able to worship in our sanctuary where His presence frequents. But I want to see Him in my home, in my prayer closet, in my every day just as in the sanctuary. I want to desire Him in everything and my soul thirst for Him. His power and glory was never intended to be kept within four walls but to be shown to a hurting world that they might be saved. His Spirit resides within each of us, not to be left at the sanctuary doors to be picked back up for service but to minister to the broken. I will seek thee early God because I desire to see Your power and glory manifest in Ft worth Texas!

  18. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    No person or experience has ever made me fee the way God makes me feel. I wouldn’t trade this life for the world, now that I have Him, I’m never letting go.

  19. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary

    My soul is thirsty for God in a nation that is dry and have turned their backs on the things that are pleasing to God.We must go to where the well is and drink freely of the waters of life,which is in the House of God ,listening to His word and giving Him praise for His power and glory that we see and feel in the house of God!!!God is Great and Greatly to be Praised !!!!

  20. v2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

    Wow! This chapter is so beautiful because the Psalmist and as well Isaiah ch.6 experienced an intimate spiritual relationship with GOD” in the shadow of thy wings.”

    As Pastor stated last nite as we come together into HIS sanctuary and worship GOD in unity the SPIRIT OF GOD IS PRESENT to meet the needs of HIS people.
    GOD promised to be there among us.

    All we have to do is ASK IN JESUS POWERFUL GREAT NAME.
    I ask in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS
    that just as the Psalmist and the prophet Isaiah, we too, can come into HIS sanctuary and ” in the shadow of thy wings rejoice”
    LORD cause our spiritual eyes to be open and see a powerful awareness of YOUR PRESENCE, GLORY, HOLINESS, MAJESTY
    YOUR STRENGH YOUR HELP AND OUR
    UNFAILING GOD!
    in JESUS NAME. AMEN.

    iPray
    iSeek
    iPraise
    iLift my hands and voice with thankful lips.
    iCome into HIS sanctuary
    iSee HIS POWER my soul is satisfied.
    iWorship
    iRejoice in the shadow of thy wings.

  21. As I read this. It reminded me of a poem. So in that, I say David wrote a very great poem. In captivates the mind of just how Great God truly is. He loves, He corrects, He is the all together lovely. He is GOD. I have found myself late at night pondering on the things of God. I have had many nights of fellowship that all we talked about was the greatness of God and all His ways. I have been blessed to see many mornings where the sky was as God painted it with colour. He is God.

  22. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    The need of water is so vital for body, without it one can die quickly. We all physically thirst for water. Our soul thirst for God. We must also feed our soul daily to keep going spiritually, to keep our strength and fight against all the fiery darts that the world throws at us.

  23. So, in this scripture it is apparent this individual has a real intimate relationship with God. Enough to know, that God was all he needed for his help. Praise God for how he watches for his people. He is our hidding place….our refuge…our source….our deliverer.

    “Now”………..

  24. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is betterthan life, my lips shall praise thee.

    7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore inthe shadow ofthy wingswillI rejoice.

    In the name of Jesus I will praise him when I am still alive. I lift my hands and my lips of clay will praise his name. God is better than any person anything and better than silver and gold. Amen.

  25. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

    I will praise God NOW while I’m living because God is greater than anything and anyone.

  26. The Psalmist sought God early, but also thought of him at bedtime and during the night. God is our ever present help. We should commune with him not just once a day, but all day. Pray continually.

  27. Dear Jesus… I pray that I can grow closer with you.
    and the people I’ve done wrong towards that they may forgive me.
    The pastor prophecied yesterday on the blog I knew right then that Jesus was talking to me.
    because that day i was just fixing to make a move.
    i appreciate pofw’s blogs in the name of the Lord.
    it is so uplifting to my soul.
    thank you Jesus for answering my prayers.
    ilove Jesus

  28. 7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

    My help has always come from Him…

    Psalm 121:2 (KJV)
    My help cometh from the Lord , which made heaven and earth.

    I rejoice in his shadow because He is always watching over me

    Luke 13:34 (KJV)
    … as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings…

  29. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    There is nothing better than knowing and experiencing the the lovingkindness of God. Life without Him is hard to explain- life loses a certain quality without Him. And with Him-all things are possible!

  30. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: **my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    If the Holy Ghost is the water, then a dry and thirsty land where there is no water is a place where there is no Holy Spirit. Those places might be anywhere. They could be a friends house, school, some churches, anywhere that the Holy Spirit is not and is not welcome. Our souls are longing for God and the Holy Spirit. The way that fulfill that thirst is to seek Him with our whole heart.

    Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6 KJV)

  31. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    Serve Christ instead of the world it has nothing good to offer you, serve God cause he saves and his mercy is forever!

  32. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    Some one once asked me, “what is the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of me?” When I think of God’s name the first word that comes to mind is Love. Sometimes it may feel that it is tough or that it hurts, but it is love. Correction hurts but the benefits of it in the long run are for the better. Love, God, is good to us but it is us that we don’t give Him the chance to come into our lives. When we finally let Love in our life really transforms giving us that which we really need, Him. I imagine that the first thing that comes into God’s mind when he thinks of us is how much He loves us. Most if not, I would say, everyone has been hurt at sometime or another and because we put up a guard and a wall on our hearts that when True Love tries to come in we reject it. It’s almost as if there is a fear of love. True Love casts away all fears. He cares, he provides, he gives, he comforts, he loves. Even when the rest of the world does not believe, He says I am the Lord, is there anything impossible for me? His love is beyond human comprehension. Lord thank you for your great love that is better than life!!

  33. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

    In the name of Jesus! Men shall lift up ol hands!

    ¶ I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting

    We have an amount of time on this earth that is unknown. While we are here our main purpose is to praise him. We have to equally know that our sons are watching us. Praise is as much for us as it is for him. Our sons will love the same things that we love. I choose to love Jesus and praise him while I have the chance. If we realize today that we arent promised tomoorow and it may be the last time we have the chance to praise him, then we might just praise him in the storm. If it is your last day on the earth as a Dad wouldnt you set the best example you could for your children to fallow. It is high time!

  34. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.to want this type of relationship with the Lord more than life itself.

    As the deer panteth after the waterbrook oh Lord, so panteth my soul after thee!

  35. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

    3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    No matter how difficult the situation, God is there. He is more than just “the God of Sunday,” He is faithful every day, in every moment and season. And just as He is greater than any valley, His love is greater than any mountaintop of life. We find a portion of Him in this life but there is so much more than we could imagine. We cannot try to limit Him to the experiences of this life but allow Him to be who He is regardless of what we encounter. We must not let life define God but let God define our life.

    The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)

  36. Raging Thirst

    The Psalms are full of earthy, palpable descriptions of intense longing for God. Here David uses the metaphor of raging thirst to describe how desparately he wants to experience God’s refreshing presence. He takes his soul and his body long for God: a desire so intense that only an encounter with the lover of his soul will revive him. God’s love for us is just as intense; he longs for communion with us ..consider Isa 30:18 “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of justice: blessed are all they that wait for him.” as we long for communion with him. Like David, we can bring any need to him, trust he will meet it and then go forth praising him like David says in vs 11 “But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God’s name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.”

  37. 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

    Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee

    His love and kindness is netter than life! Lets be honest without His love for us found in John 3:16 thete would be no New Life for us. Thats love!
