Psalm 64

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

  1. They who seek my soul Lord, I know Lord You will go after them Lord.
Thank you Lord for helping me when in time of distress.
I can call upon Your Holy Name. You are my closest friend.
    John 15:13~14
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you.
ipray that I will be friendly to everyone and especially to Jesus.

  2. 10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

I TRUST IN THEE O’ LORD THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU. YOU HAVE MADE ME GLAD. FOREVA (forever) I’LL GIVE YOU THE GLORAYY (glory)!!! =D HALELUJAH !!!!!!!

    • THANK YOU JESUS!!! I love You DADDY!!! I praise YOU, I worship YOU. Thank You for never leaving nor forsaking me. YOU are faithful.

  3. 3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

    The arrows of our words

The tongue is a launching pad for spiritual warfare. It can be used to glorify God and pierce the enemy or it can be used for evil. We must chose our words carefully so that we do not become a tool used by the enemy.

  4. 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

When I began to read this scripture I thought of the song “Hear Us From Heaven”. I’m so thankful for the listening ears of God.

  5. How often has God protected us from harm and evil and we did not even know it. That is but one of the reasons we should continually praise his name.

  6. 2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

I guess I am not the only one thinking of songs; for all I can think is of this song:

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship You.

I am so thankful that I can run to you Lord and you hide me in your pavilion. That your shield will always cover us from the arrows of the enemy. Thank you Jesus for your Love and Protection.

  7. 7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

The Bible tells us that we have at our disposal the shield of faith. This helps us to block the fiery darts of the enemy. The arrow that flies into our mind with a sin filled thought is prevented.

This says that God will shoot the arrow at people who act wicked. What type of flying arrows does The Lord send?

Mercy, Truth, Forgiveness, Faith, Encouragement, Revelation, Peace…

The pride is wounded, and the heart is made sensitive to the master’s touch. The tongue causes the fleshly old man to fall, as he fills them with his spirit.

Death occurs, and then God raises them up a new creature.

    2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Who Are You Encouraging Yourself in?

    EVIL THINGS

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

    OR GOD

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6 KJV)

Everyday everyone of us are tempted and tried. The enemy lays snares and traps for each one of us.

We can either be encouraged with good, or encourage ourself in an matter.

  9. The workers of iniquity

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

    Who encourages you?

These workers of iniquity encourage themselves in evil matters, but he
Who waits upon the Lord doesnt have to be encouraged by evil.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews: (Acts 26:2 KJV)

  10. 7But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

It’s the mercies of God that they are just wounded and not killed.

Prov 18:14-The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

A wounded spirit is worse than sickness and it will bring you down to your knees. The power of life and death is in the toung so we must be careful of what we say because it will not only effect the person its directed to but it will also directly impact us.

  11. 4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

    Psalm 27:1 (KJV)
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

    Romans 12:19 (KJV)
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

We have nothing to fear: as suddenly as the wicked shoot their arrows, they shall be wounded by God’s arrows. We serve a mighty God with power in His name!

  12. This chapter illustrates shielding. There were those that sought to do harm, however God protected. Although there may be those that seek to do one harm, one can take solace in knowing God will protect his; “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. THE KEY TO HAPPINESS

10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

So often we meet people who are on the endless, unfulfilling quest for happiness. Always wanting something or someone who they think is better.

We find instructive revelation here in verse 10 concerning THE KEY TO HAPPINESS. There is noting more peaceful than going to bed each night knowing that we have done that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

I am persuaded that most people are unhappy in life because of sin. Some attempt to hide it, while others flaunt it; however the BIBLE says “The righteous shall be GLAD”!

People for the most part are sad and angry as a result of some form of sin in their lives. Unforgiveness, gossip, lust, lies, carnality, worldly dependance (drugs, alcohol, sex, money, position, etc.). All sin is not outwardly manifest, there are the hidden sins of the heart; jealousy, pride, evil imagination, selfish motive, etc.

The upright in HEART shall GLORY!

The word upright in verse 10 is the Hebrew – yashar, yaw-shawr, and simply means STRAIGHT. In other words that heart that is going straight forward in life walking with JESUS shall GLORY. It is when we allow fear, doubt and unbelief to creep in that we feel lost, destitute or defeated.

THE KEY TO HAPPINESS is to

    1. LIVE Right
    2. WALK Straight

The result is Gladness and Glory. In JESUS name.

  14. Hide me from the secret counsel and conspiracy of the ungodly, from the scheming of evildoers, Who whet their tongues like a sword, who aim venomous words like arrows, Who shoot from ambush at the blameless man; suddenly do they shoot at him, without self-reproach or fear. (Psalm 64:2-4 AMP)

As Holy Ghost filled people we have the spirit of God residing in us. The same God that spoke into existence everything we see outside. We now have that same authority through the power in Jesus Name to speak into atmosphere life or death. Lets Choose Life! Speak blessings into each others lives!

  15. Verses 9-10 MSG read “Everyone sees it. God’s work is the talk of the town. Be glad, good people! Fly to God! Good-hearted people, make praise your habit.”

Let your life, your words, and your actions reflect the gladness within your Jesus filled heart. We can be walking testimonies to this town/city.

  16. The Doctor is In!

6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

We hsave to search our hearts deep. When we are struggling with attitudes or feelings we have to get a shovel. We have to dig in our own hearts and minds till we find the problem. Our enemy knows how to hide sin in places that we normally dont look or that are very hard to find. A deep search of our heart will reveal what keeps us from making the next step with God. Things like hidden prejudices, things that were tought since we were children that dont line up with the Gospel, or even the remainder of a love for an idol that we havent yet recognized. These things keep us from God and we dont even know it. They plant themselves so deep that we dont see them. It is the ability to let your Pastor offend your flesh and not get mad about it but do someting about it. We need to let leadership and expecially our Pastor speak into our lives. While we know our own bodies it takes going to the doctor to get an examination to make sure that everything is ok. When he thinks there is a hidden problem he draws blood, gets exrays. He looks inside at the hidden things that we cant recognize ourselves. if we had a boil show up on our arm, we and everyone else could recognise something was wrong, but when its hidden we need an examination. The relationship that we develop with God through prayer and the relationships that we develop with our leaders and Pastor is our examination. We let the doctortell us whats going on with our atural bodies. The same needs to happen with our Pastor andour souls. Let Pastor be your Pastor. Dont rebuke him in your mind every time it stings when he is preaching. Let that sting reveal that hidden thing that keeps you from God. Pastors job is to make it sting. If he doesnt he is just yelling for nothing. We have to truley believe that the words coming from our Pastor are ordained by Jesus himself. They should be treated as if Jesus was preaching everytime Pastor opens his mouth. The doctor is in.

  17. 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim. 1:7)

This verse stuck out in my mind cause i have been hurt by family/church/friends and we (i) have been hurt in these ways we build up a wall and we don’t let no one in. We always have that fear that if we get close to someone/something that we will be hurt all over again and so we live in fear that something is going to happen. I have had to repeat this verse several times to myself. There comes a time when you just have to lay it to God and let him handle the situations. The devil puts this kind of thinking in us. But thank you Jesus I can go to him and tell my problems too. Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (Ps. 55:22). “Casting all your care upon him, for He cares for you.” (1 Pet. 5:7) We do not have to worry for tomorrow, because tomorrow never comes. Tomorrow will always be tomorrow. So God supplies our needs for today.
If God is my helper if God helps then why should I be afraid of anyone/anything? I’m a child of God

  18. 9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

WE see here that David addersses people, and counsel of the wicked differently. We see here that there was some insight given, that there is spiritual influences that we battle with continually. We fight, but not person to person, but against evil spirits. Paul tells us that we battle not against flesh and blood, but against evil spirits in high places. We have to realize that ALL MEN want to know Jesus and please Him. As we reach for the lost, we must understand that though we don’t see with our physical eyes the spirits that we fight, we must see them with our spiritual eyes, and keep reaching even when it hurts.
Jesus never gave up on us, we cannot give up on those around us. remember that all men will fear, and declare the works of God…

  19. 7-8 The God of the Arrow shoots!
        They double up in pain,
    Fall flat on their faces
in full view of the grinning crowd.

When we let God handle our enemies, the truth will be found out.

  20. v5 Tgey encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say,
    Who shall see them?

GOD IS ABLE TO SEE AND HEAR US
    PSALMS 94:9

  21. David is concerned about the enemy sneeking into peoples lives and causing so much destruction.

David is aware God is our avenger and will protect us at all cause from the enemy.

Lord thank you for protection, Have mercy on every soul that calls for your help, you are our avenger Lord.

  22. 7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow ; suddenly shall they be wounded . 8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves : all that see them shall flee away . 9 And all men shall fear , and shall declare the work of God ; for they shall wisely consider of his doing . 10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord , and shall trust in him ; and all the upright in heart shall glory .

  23. 3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

Sometimes the enemy comes in like a flood, our opposition attacks with their sword and arrows, but it just takes one move (arrow) of God turn things around.

  24. 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemey.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Halelujah that God is my protector, whith him who can stand against. He is my rock, my strong tower and I’ll always be safe in his arms. I will send up my praise always because he deserves it. He is so good to me I can not praise him enough. Thank You Jesus for your love, grace and mercy! 🙂

  25. 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

YOU ALWAYS HAVE HEARD MY SUPPLICATION. YOU ARE JUST AND SOOOO FAITHFUL, So I FEAR NO evil I KNOW IN WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED IN……. YOU HAVE KEPT ME. JESUS!!!

NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST THEE SHALL PROSPER AND EVERY TONGUE WHICH RISES AGAINST THEE IN JUDGMENT THOU SHALT CONDEMN. THIS IS THE HERITAGE OF THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD, AND THEIR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS OF ME, SAITH THE LORD.
    ISAIAH 54:17

  26. 10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

When all seems lost , God is in control. Keep the faith. God is on our side.

  27. Vs.2, “Hide me from the Secret counsel of the wicked…”
Vs.4, “That they may shoot in Secret at the perfect…”
Vs.5, …”they commune of laying snares Privily; they say, Who shall see them?”

Wickedness is always done in the darkness and secretly. People who do wickedness think no one sees them, and that they can get by with whatever it is that they are going to do.

They forget that God is Omniscience. He is all seeing. Job 34:21 says, “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.”

This is why, when the enemy comes against us, we need to hide and trust in God. He sees what the enemy is about ready to do, and he protects us from his acts.

Stand upon his word today that says, “No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servant of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17)

  28. When God steps into our situations it doesn’t matter what the enemy has done, the enemies will have to give up the territories they have intimidated us to take. Lord help us to be patient and wait for The Lord to respond and not feel the need to make people respond our way. God has the last word and the last move! !

  29. This is my prayer every day!

    PSALM 64

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

  30. 10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him;and all the upright in heart shall glory.

I trust in the Lord with my heart and all my strength. My tonge and mouth will praise his name forever. My heart will run and hunger for you and praise your Holy name.Amen.

Psalms 103:1 Bless the LORD,O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

  31. The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Living for the Lord is joyful ! So if we have no joy we need to examine our walk with God and make sure we are not veering off the beaten path of the righteous. We have to walk on the strait path to make it to Heaven,no taking a side road because it will always lead to destruction!!!

  32. In this scripture, it is encouraging to know that God is confident enough to know his aim is accurate. He never misses his target, to bless or curse, he never misses. As, an Officer it is highly important to hit your target. Because, there are several legal reasons why. You always want to get your man, the right one. In verse 8, it is only fruit from the seed in which you have been sowing. “Reap what you sow”.

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

    “Now”……………………………………………………………………..

  33. Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs him down, but an encouraging word brings him joy. -Proverbs 12:25

Trust in the Lord. Worry wears away at your faith and confidence in God.

Psalm 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

  34. Marvellous Light

9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

Our lives should be an opportunity for God to show Himself righteous, just, and mighty. The purer we are, the more we can be like a blank canvas for the Master to paint a masterpiece on. The more impurities, the less the Master can do with us as He would desire and the more His perfect work is polluted.

    Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We must be daily renewed and transformed by God. Day in a day out, submitting to the working of God in us creates a flow of purity that cleanses us of unholiness, and it starts with the renewing of our mind. Old thinking must go and truth must reign in us; darkness must be overtaken by light so we might shine with His light to the world.

    1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

    1 John 1:5-7
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

    2 Corinthians 4:3-6
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus ‘sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 5:14-16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  35. All will fear God

Those who plan their lives with no heed to God’s will and authority may think they are really getting somewhere. Graduating from school, or college, landing good jobs, closing deals, signing contracts etc. They may even prosper and appear to have made it to the top (I know 1st hand) with no credit given to God at all. But hear in this Psalm of David it clearly states that a day will come when all creation (vs9) “will fear , they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.” (acknowledging his supremacy and praising his works) is echoed in Ro 14:11 “11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ” and in Ph 2:9 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”. In his great mercy God extends grace after grace so that everyone is given the opportunity to honor and praise him. God does not want anyone to perish, but instead, he wants everyone to repent and become his own (2Pe 3:9) .

  36. 5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

It’s like throwing wood on fire…but what fire are we feeding? What are we putting into ourself and what output will come out off it. When we’re down what will encourage your days? Will we turn to the world and go for the “fun” and uplifts of the world…or will we drop to the the mercy of God, to His love and grace..?
I have found that the Word of God brings life in the darkest of ours, brings hope in the desperate times and comfort through the sorrowful nights. His promises bring hope and joy always comes in the morning. Encourage yourself in the Word. He Love never fails..
