Psalm 71

1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.

10 For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

11 Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.

12 O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.

13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

15 My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!

20 Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

  1. v14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

This chapter let us know that trouble never lets up it’s ongoing right through our old age
but, thank JESUS HE IS our hope.
We serve an ongoing GOD full of love, care and concern.
Like David we have a right to praise and rejoice. We have a right to claim GOD’S promises. We have the right to take courage, trust and speak of HIS WORD all day long.

Speak the promises GOD has spoken into your life all day long. Like David i want to praise HIM more and more.
“Thank you JESUS for every backslider that’s on the way home” in JESUS Name!

What security and great blessing to know that we are HIS and HE is coming back for us.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,,the gospel of your salvation : in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritant until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto praise and glory.
    Ephesians 1:13-14

  2. 7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

Many people may think that I am strange and that is alright with me as long as I have my JESUS and I know that HE loves me. HE WILL NEVER LEAVE ME NOR FORSAKE ME!!! HE IS FAITHFUL!!! ALL I WANT IS JESUS!!!

    • 22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

  3. The Lord is where our hope should be. This world and its system and the men therein are all hopeless. Only God can supply what we need today and forever. We must teach and show our children, the next generation this truth. As saints of God we must show the present generation the saving power and grace of Jesus.

  4. 18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

Showing Jesus to others, David aligned himself with the purpose of God. Let this be our prayer.

  5. 17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and grey headed , O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

I can go back to when I was younger and lust a million times that He spared me. As the church it is our calling to tell everyone how Christ has kept us through our times of troubles. It’s our job to show them His light….

  6. 8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

There is nothing like being under fire and not knowing where the enemy is firing from. The sound of the weapons seem to echo and it is hard to pin point exactly where is coming from. Well, that is how the enemy feels when we PRAISE… Our Praise to Our Lord and Savior confuses the enemy, it is a torture beyond understanding. Every time we PRAISE HIM in the mist of the battle the enemy finishes taking their own life for the sound of PRAISE does not allow them to know the direction the attack is coming from. I am so glad that JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD takes care of our enemies and that OUR PRAISE is the weapon that the enemy can Not and will Not escape. PRAISE BE TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST!!!!! BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!!!! HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST LORD OF LORD, KING OF KINGS. BLESSED BE HIS NAME!!!

  7. But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God : I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. (Psalms 71:14-18 KJV)
Through it all Lord.. I WILL PRAISE THEE, and I will declare NOW thy wondrous works to this Generation!!!

  8. Ilove to eat the book

    PRAISE HIM ALL DAY LONG

8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

David understood the power of “having church” all day every day.

Lets sing and listen to the songs of praise and worship.

LEAVE THE SONGS OF THE WORLD ALONE.

Give God the glory ALL DAY LONG

  9. 5 For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.
6 By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

This isn’t quiet my favorite scripture just yet, but it is good. David ” grew up in church”. He knew about God at an early age and he is still having times that he needs to get on his ace and remember. What God has done for him. God took him from his mother’s stomach and is still his God even now in he scriptures.

It won’t be too long until we get to my favorite verses.

  10. 7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

wonder (as a special display of God’s power)

Imagine the level of relationship David had attained. He knew how to get ahold of God, dive into his word, live a life of praise, and worship from the bottom of his heart.

His fellowship with the almighty caused those around him to be a wonder to many.

There is a place in God where we are not only seeing the miraculous, but God shines through us so powerfully that we are seen as a wonder, as a walking miracle.

    1 Peter 2:21-23
For even hereunto were ye called:because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

We are to be so much like Jesus that people see him instead of us!

    • Exodus 34:29
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses ‘hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

  11. This chapter illustrates tomorrow. He praised God for all he done from his youth, and more so as he grew older. One never knows what tomorrow may bring; nonetheless ones youth will pass on with each day. For this very reason one should seek God more today (NOW), for one knoweth not what tomorrow may bring. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. iseek thee O Lord.
    iworship You, OLord
    italk about You, dear Jesus.
ipray to my King of Kings and Lord of all…Jesus.
    ilove You dear God(Jesus).
forever I will praise and lift up Your Holy Name.
    ibless You, Jesus.

  13. THE REAL HIDE AND SEEK

1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

As a child we played a game that would challenge our creativity and elusiveness called “HIDE and SEEK”. Where 1 person would be “IT” and whoever was “IT” had to hide his face and count to 60 while everyone else hid from them. Then at 60 the one who was “IT” would begin to SEEK those who were hiding and the 1st person he found was “IT”.

This simple childhood game presents a misconception about the reality of HIDE and SEEK. Thank GOD today for understanding and revelation in this area. Too often in our minds it seems as if the LORD is hiding from us and we are “IT” trying to find HIM. This is a deceptive trick of the devil.

The bible declares that he is NEAR.

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: KJV

    The HEART is the Key!

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

There are many that cannot find HIM because of HALF-HEARTED seeking.

    THE REAL HIDE AND SEEK

We HIDE ourselves in the protection of the presence of our MIGHTY GOD, JESUS and while we are HIDING in HIM we SEEK HIM, his counsel, his direction, his wisdom, his favor, his blessing, his will and DO IT.

If you have, troubles, trials or sickness exercise your privilege to HIDE and SEEK today. It is not a childhood game it is a LIFE process of VICTORY in JESUS.

    The WINNER receives!

    ENDLESS PRAISE

8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

  14. Verse 18 NLT reads “Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.”

Same verse AMP “Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, [but keep me alive] until I have declared Your mighty strength to [this] generation, and Your might and power to all that are to come.”

Not sure when it happened; but, here I am old and gray. I am now past the age that I remember thinking that my parents were old, when they were this age. But I am asking the Lord to help me be a stepping stone, a building block that will bring someone to him. As verse 16 NKJV says “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.”

  15. trouble is going to come and that is a fact but its what you do in the time of trouble that shows God the love n faith that we have for him. praise God anyhow

  16. Vs.7-9, “I am a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.”

I gave my heart to Jesus when I was 15 years old. I had many who told me that they thought I would not stay in church. But I have always put my trust in Jesus and stood upon His Word that says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Heb.13:5b). I am so thankful that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and for ever.” (Heb.13:8).

Jesus kept me in my youth, He is with me today, and He will be with me in all my tomorrows. So, I will praise Him with my mouth, and honour Him all my days.

  17. 17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

I was not raised in church but I can relate to this scripture. I catch my self wondering what would I be doing now if I had been raised in the church? Then I go back to Brother Godwins teaching that God is not bound by time only we are. So in Gods eyes I’ve been in church as long as anyone. I am learning every day that I’m not waiting on God rather he is waiting on me. I also have to think about Pastors tounge and interpretation when he was called to lead this church. God can do anything in a day! He delivered me in one day from my past then he set me in this church to do his work. He knew exactly what day to do it. So my youth began and I have been taught since my youth.

  18. Psalm 71:15 NIV
MY MOUTH WILL TELL OF YOUR
    RIGHTEOUSNESS
OF YOU SALVATION ALL DAY LONG,
THOUGH I KNOW NOT ITS MEASURE.

Simply mention him in our conversation at all times, giving him all the praise……
    Talk about GOD.
—-talk about what he has done in the past….
—-talk about what he’s done in my life…..
    —-talk about his mercy,goodness, power.
    Talk about his SALVATION…….

  19. 1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

You are my rock oh Lord, you are my Fortress, you are my Deliverer in you will I trust. Halelujah I can run to someone who loves me and will never forsake me!!! He is strong when I am weak this i know, this I trust. My God is not the author of confusion. I WILL PRAISE HIM FOREVER!!! for he is worthy

  20. 17-24 You got me when I was an unformed youth,
God, and taught me everything I know.
    Now I’m telling the world your wonders;
I’ll keep at it until I’m old and gray.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.psalms 37:25

  21. 7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

    1peter2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

We are strange to this world once we take on Christ, because He has taken us out of their comfort zone, darkness. But greater is living in His light, He is our strong tower. We can sing His praise, tell our testimonies, and spread the gospel, trusting in Him when this world refuses Him through us.

21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

Blessings come when we become separated unto him. If the world can understand us then we aren’t peculiar, let them wonder!

  22. “Thou are my trust from my youth” I have heard it said many times, “Out of the mouth of babes.” The Lord has also stated in Mathew “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Children have a natural faith that has not been tainted by the world and everyday life. When a parent proclaims something to their child it is perceived as an absolute truth. Unbiased faith. I believe that is what the fifth verse of this chapter is referring to.

Have we as adults been so infected by daily life that absolute faith in the Lord and the things of the Kingdom seem skeptical?

  23. 1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

I am reminded of the scripture,” For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but o0f power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7 Confusion is not of God therefore it is of the devil. A sound mind means to know what do you believe in.

  24. 9 But don’t turn me out to pasture when I’m old or put me on the shelf when I can’t pull my weight. 10 My enemies are talking behind my back, watching for their chance to knife me. 11 The gossip is: “God has abandoned him. Pounce on him now; no one will help him.”

Our enemies are watching us to see if we are going to praise God during our storm or how are we gonna handle it? I pray i pass the test when I’m going thru a trail, cause if you fail you will go thru that trail again maybe not the same exact way but you will go thru that trail again. God don’t forsake us or leave us we forsake and leave God. God is on our side and God has our back so why would someone want to choose the world over God?

  25. the psalmist speaks out of mature experience with the Lord. During troubles are dangers the psalmist will always have hope and always praise God Although having life troubles he counts on God to restore him and commits himself praising God

  26. Wow…In this scripture, it seems I’ve been living this one out right now. But, I know God is with me, and he will not forsake me nor the work of his hands. Trusting in the Lord, for his deliverance and also since I’m also getting older, it is nice to see God cares for you when are older. Although, our physical strength weakens when we get older. God’s strength or power, never weakens or decreases. His strength remains, and has no limits, he is our strength. And he promised me/us, that in our old age we will bare fruit. “It’s Written”….Currently, going through some tough stuff, but my God is awesome. “Keeping the Faith”….I will yet praise my Lord, and will see vs. 21, because he has already done vs. 23, and God will show me his Glory for vs. 24.

4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.

10 For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

    “Now”…………………………………………………………………

  27. 2 Deliver me in thy righteousness…

15 My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness…

16 … I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

    19 Thy righteousness also…

24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness…

    1.) God is righteous
    2.) No one else is
3.) Talk about it, so others will know

  28. David learned of God at a young age, he trusted and relied on him when he was in need and in trouble. David praised him and honored him at all times.

David asks God not to forget him at old age. He wants to make sure he will be there for him even at his senior years. David loves and trusts god so much that he wants to tell the whole world about his mighty power.

Lord I give you access to my heart, mind and soul NOW!

  29. Even When I Am Old

All His life the psalmist has experienced God’s unwavering faithfulness, and He is full of praise (Ps 71:8). So why the sudden plea that God continue to be faithful, as if God needs to be reminded that the psalmist will no doubt need Him even more as he grows old and frail? When we feel particularly weak and vulnerable, we naturally have moments of fear and doubt. A sudden shadow can appear on the sunny bliss of our faith, causing our spiritual hearts to skip a beat. Will everything continue to be alright? Will God be there for us if we become more and more helpless? The psalmist’s answer to his own momentary fears is full of faith in a righteous, powerful and loving God (vs19-24). Not only will God continue to honor and help him, but the Holy One of Israel will also continue to use him, throughout his final days, to declare God’s power to others. What a wonderful character trait for us to adopt, so God can do the same through us.

  30. 5 For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

Feb. 14 1997… The day I recieved the holy ghost in my living room with my hands lifted up towards heaven… I was 10 years old then… Im 26 now. I just had a Holy Ghost 16 year old birthday!!! From that point on until today God was MY TRUST… and now 16 years later LORD I STILL TRUST YOU!!!

  31. 16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

  32. 16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

This is the instructions that Pastor gave us tonight at prayer when connecting with those on our prayer board. Tell of the goodness of the Lord, talk of His ways, and lift Him because no mans comes unto God except the spirit of God draw them.

Praying and believing for 100 people to be filled or refilled!

  33. 17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come

I received the Holy Ghost when I was twelve year old,so I have been taught the word of God since my youth.God has always been my rock,my comforter,my help in time of trouble.

Now that I’m older(not old)lol, and greyheaded,I know my God is still those same things and more to me,He will not forsake me if I don’t forsake Him !God is good ALL the time!!!!

  34. 4 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

I will keep my hope in God and forever give him praise.

  35. 1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. -Proverbs 3:5

    Confusion – the state of being confused. disorder; upheaval; tumult;
    lack of clearness or distinctness:

Trust – reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence. confident expectation of something; hope.

When I trust in him I can be confident and have peace that things are going to work according to his plan!

  36. DYou got me when I was an unformed youth, God, and taught me everything I know. Now I’m telling the world your wonder; I’ll keep at it until I’m old and gray. God, don’t walk off and leave me until I get out the news of your strong right arm to this world, news of your power to the world yet to come, your famous and righteous ways , O God.

  37. You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. (Psalms 71:20 NLT)

This is a Psalm of faith. There is repeated mention of praise in spite of circumstances, and description of those difficult circumstances to put it in perspective. The Psalmist doesn’t simply ignore the difficult situations and try to be happy as if the didn’t exist, but rather acknowledges them and rejoices in the Lord anyway.

Perhaps we struggle at times to keep a continual praise because we get so caught up in trying to handle, contain, and mentally/emotionally overcome trouble that we never get to the “praise God anyhow” part. We can praise God even when it still hurts and we feel overwhelmed and wish our faith would just kick in enough so the problem would “disappear.” We cast our care on Him, but He didn’t say it had to be laundered, dried, and pressed first (a.k.a. “managed.”)

When there’s trouble now, we should not hesitate to give NOW Praise to God. We may not have it all figured out but that’s where faith comes in.

    NOW Faith
    NOW Praise

  38. 8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Praise praise praise praise praise!!! There are many time that the enemy of my soul rushes in like a flod and tries to attack every area of my life. No I don’t have all the answers, and no, I don’t understand all things, but I know one thing that never fails to lift up my heart and that is to praise. It keeps me sane and knowing that He has my life in His hands and Will take care of me and all my needs and Will fight my battles. Praise brings Jesus to my situation that I know with all certainty. Thank you Jesus for your faithfulness…

  39. 7 I am as a wonder unto many ; but thou art my strong refuge . 8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day . 9 Cast me not off in the time of old age ; forsake me not when my strength faileth .
