Psalm 72

1 Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.

He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.

In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.

14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

v19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

    • Let there be a shaking as in Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spake the word of GOD with boldness.

Acts 2:2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
      sitting.

  3. vs12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth: the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
Thank you Lord for talking to me this morning in this passage.
I was in distress yesterday but not anymore after reading Your Word.
I bless Your Holy Name and for Your comfort in Your Word.
    Love You dear Jesus.

  4. 11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

  5. 11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

AMEN!! Let the whole earth be filled with His glory! I can only but humble myself at such a wonderful psalm of praise…and join in reverence, honor and glorify His name. Yes all nations shall bow down before Him. To Him shall prayers be lifted up, and to Him praise shall be given daily! He is wonderful, great, magnificent, precious, almighty, omnipotent, righteous. He judges the earth with righteousness and gives to every one according to his ways. He worthy of all praise…by Him are kingdoms established. All things subsist because of Him.
My heart is bowed down to your greatness and I bless the beauty if thy Holiness my Lord, my God. Let all the nations proclaim that He is Lord and God.
Oh magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name…!

  6. Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. (Psalms 72:18, 19 KJV)

  7. 7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

These past few days I have been feeling peace, peace, and more peace! Praise be to God! I have slept so well, I forgot how it felt to have a good nights rest! I wake up with a smile on my face and a praise in my mouth! Thank you Jesus!
I’m going to have a good day in Jesus name! 🙂

  8. There is power in the name of Jesus! Power in the name!

  9. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Praise God He is speaking of Jesus Christ… We shall never judge each other or compare one to another for Christ is the Judge and advocate. Blessed be HIS name in ALL the Earth.

    Romans 14:11-13

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

  10. 12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

When we get a real burden for the lost and the backslidden souls the we shall see how their blood might be so precious to us too. As the church we must exalt Him to all that He might draw all men closer to Him, even the lost and backslidden…

  11. There seems to be some conflicting this Psalm–

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

Not so much the gold, but the prayer. It says they will pray continually. They will praise daily.–those things are wonderful. PoFW let’s keep doing them.

    Conflict–
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Why does he stop praying? Things won’t stay the same. We are going to see soon that David’s life will change drastically because his prayer ends.

Keep pushing in. Keep praying. If it is hard now with prayer, it will only get worse without it.

  12. ILove to eat the book

    Pray for our Leaders

1 Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

We need to pray for those who are in authority over us that God would give them wisdom.

Thank you King of Kings and Lord of Lords for being the true king. Lord I pray for peace upon the Leaders of this earth.

  13. 12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

Though none of us are sitting on a literal throne in a palace somewhere we are made royalty by God.

    1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

royal [994] βασιλειοσ basileios 2x royal, regal; met. possessed of high prerogatives and distinction, 1 Pet. 2: 9; τα βαειλεια, sc. δωματα, regal mansion, palaces, Lk. 7: 25 *[933, 934]

We have a mansion over in glory. Our spiritual man wears expensive robes the Father gave us. We are blessed beyond our understanding, and have eternal riches awaiting us.

One day I was at work standing near the back on the store near the cardboard bailer. I was in a particularly whining mood, and was complaining and choosing a rotten attitude. Suddenly my eyes were opened and I saw the one next to me, and myself in the spirit. Upon my back was a beautiful royal garment, fine, and expensive looking. The needy soul next to me had only rags covering their frail, and dying body. They looked very sick, and poor.

Through this I saw how my complaints were nothing compared to the brevity of their need for Jesus. I believe I was shown that God is taking care of me, but my spoiled attitude was unaware of my associate’s true needs.

    Galatians 2:10
Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

    Luke 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the POOR; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Lord give us the heart of a true king that will live to help the poor, and the needy.

  14. 19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

There is no othere name like the name of Jesus. When we call on that name in time of trouble we find all we need. When we call His name when things are going well, we still find all we need.

  15. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

    Psalm 135:13 (KJV)
Thy name, O Lord , endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord , throughout all generations.

    …and that name is JESUS!!

  16. What a great earthly father David was. In handing off the kingdom to his son he asked God to bless him even more than he himself had been blessed. David loved his son and wanted all the best for him as the king of Israel. We have an example here of how we should treat our children. We have to pray for them. Also David fought all his life for now his son could flourish. We see too many tea that fathers tell their sons that they had to do it the hard way and so should the son. Our children deserve an inheritance.

  17. A FATHERS PRAYER

Davids final recorded prayer is for his son Solomon the King of Israel. The desires uttered by David before the LORD reveal A FATHERS PRAYER for his son; wisdom, increase, righteousness, pure religion, peace, judgement, authority, prayer, praise, favor, influence and legacy.

David closes his prayer by acknowledging the source of all good. While he asks for his son’s name to be continued as long as the sun and that he will be a blessing, David immediately turns his faith, hope and confidence to the ONE who only doeth wondrous things.

While praying for the success of others we must be careful to always close our prayer with worship to the ONE and ONLY GOD; JESUS. David realized that his prayer for Solomon had no chance or hope if the “whole earth was not full of HIS glory”.

Pray the LORD of the harvest fill the whole earth with HIS glory!

Fathers as we pray for our sons today; let’s speak blessing, favor, truth and success on them, in the Kingdom of GOD; for HIS great name’s sake JESUS.

JESUS bless, protect, reveal, heal, favor, increase and establish my sons today Dustin, Anthony and Allen. Allow your GLORY to surround them today and fill them with YOUR HOLY SPIRIT in JESUS name. Break every chain that would hinder them or hold them back from fulfilling your will in their lives. I thank you today for lifting them up today with your strength, knowledge and wisdom. Infuse them today with the favor of the LORD, bless them, use them mightily for your kingdom and establish them as Godly, Righteous, Spiritual Leaders to their generation. In JESUS name today.

  18. Verse 6 CEV reads “Let him be as helpful as rain that refreshes the meadows and the ground.” Our desire and example should be that of David for our children. With a heart for Jesus, bringing others to know him, and a praise unto “the one and only wonder-working God” as verse 18 says.

  19. 2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

    But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45 KJV

So when you think the sinner is getting more than you, they are not like the scripture says it rains on the just and the unjust. Keep praising God and doing what you know to do is right and God will take care of you and your family.

  20. 18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

Truly I will bless the Lord at all times. Our great God is almighty and he is able to give joy in the time we need it the most. There aren’t enough words to describe how great God is.

  21. Psalm 72:3NIV
The mountains will bring prosperity to
    The people,
The hills the fruit of righteousness .
    — this reminds me the sermons, series pastor Watts talked about while back:(the journey)
    About the hills,mountains,forest….
That’s where provision is,that’s where the King of Kings hangs out.anyways… Hope you got my point.
72:12,13,14. For he will deliver the needy
    Who cry out,
The afflicted who had no one to help.
He will take pity on the weak and the needy
And save the needy from death.
He will rescue them from oppression
    And violence ,
For precious is their blood in his sight.
    — thank you JESUS!!!!!!!
    My shepherd, my redeemer….
In Jesus name thank you God for your word.

  22. This chapter illustrates responsibility and privilege. A prayer was laid up before God. One has a responsibility and privilege to pray for those in authority, which one will blessed in so doing; “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  23. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

His name is wonderful, counseler, the everlasting, holy one of Isreal, the great I AM, the lily of the valley the bright morning star, He is JESUS. God manifested in the flesh. He is worthy of all glory and honour, and praise.

  24. Verse 16 “There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.” I have also heard it a different way…

    O beautiful for spacious skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties
    Above the fruited plain!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea!

Could it be the author of this song was inspired from these passages?

  25. What a heartfelt prayer from David “speaking those things that are not, as though they were” into the life of his predecessor, Solomon. The wisdom of parents, not only living the example, but praying the things into the lives of their children they wish. The power of prayer is more than we can comprehend and yet so few of us use it to it’s highest potential. Oh that we would take David’s example and pray continually for our children, until God’s will and purpose is fulfilled in their lives.

My prayer right now, Lord, let all our children on the prayer board, have an urgency and hunger develop in their hearts right now, to return to the paths of truth; to walk after the commandments and statues of God that they have been taught; that they lay aside the weights of this world that they have allowed into their lives, and they surrender their will for the will of God! In Jesus name – my prayer today!

  26. May there be abundant grain throughout the land, flourishing even on the hilltops. May the fruit trees flourish like the trees of Lebanon, and may the people thrive like grass in a field. (Psalms 72:16 NLT)

    Sounds like harvest time!!

You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. (John 4:35 NLT)

  27. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

Halelujah to the Almighty who was and is and is to come. I am blessed to have Jesus in my life!!!

  28. Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors. (Psalms 72:4 NLT)

We are all mighty in the Name of Jesus. We’ve already won! Just get up and crush the oppressors. Let us be the church to he needy, poor and the Rescue to the children! We have the victory NOW!

  29. Psalm 72:18-20
Blessed God, Israel’s God, the one and only wonder-working God! Blessed always his blazing glory! All earth brims with his glory.
    Yes and Yes and Yes.

  30. 14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

The blood of the redeemed is precious to God. He cares what happens to each of us. Ables blood cried out from the earth when he was unmercifully killed by his brother. If the blood of those who have been redeemed is precious to God, how loud is the cry of backsliders blood who were killed by their brothers or sisters? I’m thankful for the powerful message by bro. Guy. I’m praying for God to help me receive this word and burden in my heart.

  31. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

When we call on God’s name he is there he helps us in our darkest times. We can do all things in Jesus Name.

  32. For the righteous and the poor will be favored by God the almighty.
All nations will bow before you Lord and honor you forever.

I praise and worship your Holy name Lord God.

  33. In this scripture, you can clearly see every knee will bow, all nations, and they will serve him. He shall deliver the needy, and the poor, and the one’s that feel they are helpless. He will save the sould of the needy. But, in vs. 14, redemption drawith nigh, he redeems their soul from deceit and violence; and precious their blood be in his sight.

So, if you have been experiencing violence or are poor and needy. Fear Not, and Fret Not, God is on our side. Trust him, in the mist of all your trials & troubles, God will show himself glorious.

    “No Fear Here”…………………..”Now”…………………………………….

  34. 4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

God let us always have a care for the needy. Thank you POFW giving at all times to children and the community! Touching those in need, and telling them about God.

  35. there is power in the name of Jesus. if we cry out to Him, He will hear us. thank you Jesus for loving me when i was too weak to love myself, and for knowing my worth when i felt worthless.

  36. A Prophetic Psalm

While this prayer is offered for the reigning Hebrew monarch at the time, most commentators agree that it is also clearly prophetic about the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Under the Messiah’s righteous rule, God’s people will be treated with perfect people will be treated with perfect justice and mercy. They will be blessed with abundance and continually refreshed with with his presence. The royal Son’s authority will extend to the ends of the earth and will extend to the ends of the earth and will endure forever. All people will bow to his rule, and the masses will praise Him. The afflicted will be protected from any further harm, and the whole earth will burst at the seams with the glory of God. “Amen and Amen” (v19)!

  37. 6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.

7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

It is the time for rain ar the POFW. Due season.

  38. 6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.

As I read this scripture the only thing that comes to mind is how the mown grass is the same as a freshly cut open wound. He shall come down like rain, just as his spirit comes down to heal and bring forth more life…

  39. Legacy Of Righteousness

1 Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

When we submit to be not just right before God but a *conduit* for righteousness, we position ourselves to really be used to reproduce that way of righteousness. It’s not enough to simply want to be right, we should be submitted to the active working of righteousness in us *and* through us. There is a legacy of righteousness that we enter into in the kingdom; the question is, doing we stop the lineage with us or do we pass that inheritance of righteousness to all we can? We must choose between exalting the earthly legacy or the heavenly in our lives.

    John 3:30
He must increase, but I must decrease.

    Luke 12:16-21
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee:then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

    Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  40. 18 Blessed be the Lord God , the God of Israel , who only doeth wondrous things. 19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever : and let the whole earth be filled with his glory ; Amen , and Amen .
