Psalm 75

1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.

The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.

I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

  1. v8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the drags thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out,and drink them .

Life is a mixture of good and bad it rains on the just and unjust, but there is coming a day and the unmix wine is almost here.
Don’t let LIFE through you out.

( NIV)Rev.19-21 Takes about the unmixed
v16 The great city split into three parts and the cities of the nations collapsed.
GOD remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.
v20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.
v21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed GOD on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

Wow! Talk about being prideful . These men should have humbled repented ask GOD for mercy .

Thank the LORD we have the freedom to acknowledge HIS Lordship NOW
and enjoy the earnest of our inheritance as we eagerly await the new city whose builder is GOD. Hebrews 11:10

We must honor and respect authority.
The source of all our blessings come from GOD, without HIM we can do nothing.
If we serve HIM humbly , trust HIM and give HIM the glory for all things HE will reward us both here and in eternity .

The Cup You Don’t Want to Drink From

8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: (Revelation 14:10 KJV)

  4. You tell every bragger, “Stop bragging!” And to the wicked you say, “Don’t boast of your power! Stop bragging! Quit telling me how great you are.” Our Lord and our God, victory doesn’t come from the east or the west or from the desert. You are the one who judges. You can take away power and give it to others. (Psalms 75:4-7 CEV)

  5. We thank you, God, we thank you—
    your Name is our favorite word;
your mighty works are all we talk about. MSG

Give thanks unto the Lord for his mercy endured forever
Oh give thanks unto the Lord for he is good
We serve a mighty God and I’m so thankful that God chose me and loved me to not let me be lost. I want my light to shine and when people see me they see Jesus. Let your shine today!!!!!!!!

  6. 7. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

    High and Low

Many times people search high and low seeking for a way to “get ahead” in life, at work, and even with ministry opportunities. Many are willing to sacrifice their character, their word, and even their convictions, just to try to edge the next guy out of competition. As the church we should understand that God is a rewarded of those who are faithful and seek His kingdom first. It is God who sets us in positions of authority. We as the church must continue to be faithful in what we have and exalt Him, and as we are we will get to watch how God will draw souls in and will move us “up the food chain” for His benefit.

  8. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

When God promotes, it come with an abundance of benefits. The problem with us today is we try to promote ourselves and things begin to fall apart. God will bring down every high minded, non-humble attitude. The scripture says he will out you down and replace you with someone else. If we allow God to do things his way in his time, we will never go wrong.

  9. 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

    stiff neck
    noun
a proud or stubborn person : one with a haughty bearing b : obstinacy

    2 Chronicles 30:8-9 (KJV)
Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the Lord , and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.
[9] For if ye turn again unto the Lord , your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

  10. When the wickedness of this world pushes me down, my Love, My Savior picks me up and stands me up. Lets not be too proud to recognize that He is the Lifter of our heads, that without Him we are NOTHING. It is in HIM that ALL things are possible. He will lift the ones that need lifting and He will push down the ones that have lifted themselves.

Praise be to God for HIS name IS JESUS sweetest Name I know!!!!!!

  11. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Thank you Jesus that we are not in charge of who is promoted and who is not. We often don’t judge the same way Gid does. He has higher standards than we can comprehend. He knows more and better than we can know. Glory to God in the highest. I am happy that God is judge. Since God is the one who puts people up and down, we should PRAY for our leaders when something is wrong. Don’t back bite, bad mouth, or murmer. PRAY!
Lord help us all to pray for ALL of our leaders, for you have set them in their place and you can take them out when you want. Help us be have your mind better than our own so that we can pray for them the right way to help guide them as they lead us. Amen

  12. 75:7 —But GOD is the judge:he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
God is good, he is love, he is kind, but
    HE IS ALSO JUST.

  13. IT AINT OVER YET

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

GOD is THE judge and HE has appointed a specific day for judgement. In this Psalm the writer is dealing some reality. Too often we hear of and read about the exaltation of wickedness. They lift their horn of victory, like they have accomplished something by taking a stance or making a point to society in regards to the sinful liberties that they have taken. Others are basking in the fact of taking advantage of the righteous, labeling the righteous a judgmental because of a personal stance against sin.

Regardless of the state of our society, we must adopt the attitude of the Psalmist.

9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

My HORN is my mouth and I will BLESS the LORD at all times and HIS praise shall continually be in my mouth. The make much noise now and celebrate their perceived victories, but the LORD has a cup prepared for the wicked that will cut off their bragging. Also the LORD has a HORN of eternal PRAISE for HIS people that have honored HIM and lived a life of righteousness.

We are wise to remind ourselves “IT AINT OVER YET”. Wickedness has not prevailed and if you are lost in sin today. You have NOW to turn your life to GOD.

  14. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Great attitude of humility. If we do what we know to do, in due season, if it please the Lord, He will raise us up. A man’s gift will make room for itself. If we allow God to open the doors, and not try to open them ourselves, God will use us as He desires.

  15. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

    HALELUJAH!!!
Sometimes we as mere human beings tend to judge unrighteousness with a hard hand… We see some one in ministry that isn’t doing the correct …… Maybe being a stumbling block for a babe in CHRIST or being a bad example for the nonbeliever and so on , but this verse lets us know……. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

HALELUJAH!!! GOD will deal with allllll

  16. Vs. 1, “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks, for that thy name is near thy wonderous works declare.”

I just want to Thank God today for his goodness. Whenever I call on his name, he is there for me. As the saying goes, “He’s as near as the mention of His name.”

  17. Applying for a job with God

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

We never know when Hod is going to promote us or someone else. It is not our decision. God is a much better decision maker than me so I’m not mad. Some people get upset about who God has chosen to do his work. I say that he hires who he wants but he pays very well. We have to line up with what he is looking for if we want to work in his kingdom. The best applicant gets the job. Let us all work on our application for the kingdom. We have to be ready before he can use us.

  18. Promotion comes from above, not from your employer. Because their definition of promotion is different from God’s. It’s not always about how much! But, who was your resource and how it was acquired. Was it God’s will or yours. So, if you are at a place where God placed you and your not happy their. Be content, and wait for the Lord. You might be in a dark place but you might be the only source of light their or salt. Preaching to my self, and hopefully encourage someone.

    “Now”………………..

  19. What’s In The Name?

1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

WE GIVE praise and thanks to You, O God, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders. (Psalm 75:1 AMP)

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. (Proverbs 22:1 KJV)

And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. (Acts 3:5-7 KJV)

I had the privilege today to talk with a young woman who was hungry. I shared Acts 2:38 and Jesus-name baptism and watched as revelation began to spark in her life. I shared how I was originally baptized in titles with sprinkling and she shared how this past summer she was baptized in titles by full immersion. Yet despite her experience, I could all but hear the question in her mind, “this Jesus-name baptism seems clear, why wasn’t I baptized that way?”

I prompted her to read Acts to find truth about church (in answer to “which one is right? how do we know?”), how Acts described the birth of the church and the beginning history that gives precedent. Her hunger was evident and her intent to study it out seemed genuine. She practically quoted the Ethiopian eunuch at one point, describing how she was hungry but didn’t know much and sought understanding. I felt like Peter, “such as I have…”

What can I give but that name? The name of hope, healing, salvation, deliverance? The name above every name? There is power in the name of JESUS!

We exchanged numbers and I plan to be in touch. Today launched with the triumphant shout of JESUS! Let His wonderous works declare the name JESUS! from my life!

    I probably shouldn’t be alive still…

    JESUS!

I probably should be at least a “basket case,” as one professional in the field of psychology said in wonder at my sound mind…

    JESUS!

I should be trapped in abuse…

    JESUS!

    I should be lost without a hope…

    JESUS!

I should be bound by addiction…

    JESUS!

I should be broken beyond repair…

    JESUS!

I give thanks to JESUS! I proclaim the name!

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:8-12 KJV)

  20. Wine = Wrath

The cup of wine is frequently used as a Biblical metaphor for God’s wrath. To mix wine with spices makes it even more potent and destructive (Pr 23:29-35). In the final judgment, the rebel Babylon will be given “the cup filled with the wine of the fury of [God’s] wrath” (Rev 16:29). God’s chosen people have had to “drink” this wine at times themselves (Ps 60:3; Isa 51:17), but God promises that for the redeemed, His wrath will come to an end .. Isa 51:
“22This is what your Sovereign Lord says,
your God, who defends his people:
“See, I have taken out of your hand
    the cup that made you stagger;
from that cup, the goblet of my wrath,
    you will never drink again.
23I will put it into the hands of your tormentors,
    who said to you,
‘Fall prostrate that we may walk over you.’
And you made your back like the ground,
like a street to be walked over.”

The judgment the Lord has made His people apart of He plans to deliver us from, and restore us to Himself “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Luke 19:10) Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

  21. This chapter illustrates decision. One and all have a decision to make. One can either drink afresh, or drink of that which remains; “O taste and see that the Lord is good”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  22. The paslmist thanks God for appointing a time of judgment . God should be praised with all your heart and continuallly for his certain victory over the wicked

  23. 1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare

    Lord I give you THANKS!!!!!

  24. For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.” (Psalms 75:10 NLT)

Live righteous be powerful in His Name. Be wicked and you shall be broken down. And only The Lord will judge you.

It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. (Psalms 75:7 NLT)

I choice to live a righteous and prosperous life in Jesus Name NOW.

  25. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

    When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. -Luke 14:8-11

The Lord will move us into the places he has designed us for, we’ve just have to trust his plan for our lives.

  26. 7But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and
    setteth up another.

God is the judge, the director, and the author. Where He places people is where they need to be.

  27. There is life and death in the tongue, The Lord will judge everyone fairly. It doesn’t matter how many good deeds you do and you boast about it, it’s about how through God’s will those deeds were made. We should always thank God for everything because all belongs to him, I glorigy you Lord God for all you do and continue to do. Deliver me from all evil and may every blessing you have in store for me and my family rain on us as you have promised.

  28. But God is the Judge! He puts down one and lifts up another. For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup [of His wrath], and the wine foams and is red, well mixed; and He pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth must drain it and drink its dregs. (Psalm 75:7, 8 AMP)

He always has the last word.

  29. I read this but forgot to comment earlier.

I believe this chapter is about response to authority. God promotes and denotes but he will always take care of us if we are submitted, and respectfull of authority.

I am thankful for our leaders. He chose the right people for this amazing time!

    NOW

  30. 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

This just reminds me of who is in control, and that is the Lord. In order to be great in the Kingdom one must humble himself and a servant for others.

  31. 10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Don’t worry about those who only do things to uplift themselves, God will deal with them in due time

  32. Psalm 75:2-5
A reassuring word from above : God will not fail to call the arrogant to account. It is not clear whether a new word from the Lord is heard or whether these verses recall earlier prophetic words such as those of Isaiah in 2 kings 19:21-34

  33. Verses 9-10 NLT read “But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.”

God’s in control; so, we need to get out of the way and let God take care of anything or anybody coming against you. Our job, is to proclaim the wonders and sing praises of what the Lord has done.

  34. 7 But God is the judge : he putteth down one , and setteth up another . 8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup , and the wine is red ; it is full of mixture ; and he poureth out of the same : but the dregs thereof , all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out , and drink them . 9 But I will declare for ever ; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob . 10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off ; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted .
