Psalm 76

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

  1. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

To know God better, praise Him!

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

    Romans 8:31 (KJV)
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

  2. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

    Send up Judah,
    Send Up Judah,
    Send Up Judah,
    Send up Judah…
    For everything He has done,
    Every victory He has won,
    Send up Praise.

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
What vows have you made to God? Have you kept those vows that you made?
Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. Ecclesiastes 5:5 KJV
A christian should say what they mean and mean what they say. God takes making a vow very serious so its better not to make a vow if you are not going to keep it to God. Breaking a vow is a serious matter to God. We live in a society of hate, liars, give give me my name is jimmy world. So as christians we need to back our vows that we have made and change the generation that is coming up (our kids). Our children are watching us how we do things how we handle things and if our children hear us make a vow but never keep it then guess what……that is what our children will do. You have to be careful when something in your life goes wrong and you vow to God……now God if you will just help me get a job i’m going to pay my tithes and give to the church and you can count on me. You just made a vow and then you get that job, but you don’t keep your vow, you just LIED to God. He has no pleasure in fools who make vows to Him that they have no intention of keeping. All they have accomplished in the end, unless they repent and start doing what they promised is make their own judgment worse for lying to God, which is far different and worse than lying to your neighbor, though that is also sin.

  3. Has God made His home in you?

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

May God be known to you and all that surround you. May you be the light of Jesus in their lives. The world is watching, expecting, wanting to know what or who you are made of. SHOW THEM CHRIST!!!! In everything you do, say, and live; show them CHRIST.

  4. Vs.1, “In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.” (KJV)
Vs. 1, “God is well-know in Judah; in Israel, he’s a household name.” (MSG)

I want Jesus to be a household name in my home.

Joshua 24:15 says, “… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

  5. v1 In Judah is GOD known: his name is great in Israel.

Victory is our song of Praise! GOD inhabits the praises of HIS people.
True worship changes us for the better and if we remain unchanged after our time with GOD then we have not experienced true worship nor have we communed with HIM.

GOD desires that we freely worship HIM.
HE has always desired fellowship with mankind .

    iPray
    iPraise
iWant to know HIM more and more
    NOW

  6. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

    Or…

    In Praise is God known
His name is great in his kingdom
    In Peace is his tabernacle
And his dwelling place in the church

Through this atmosphere he takes out the thoughts the enemy shoots at us

    Destroys his defenses
    Shuts up his mouth
    And gives the victory!

“I was glad when they said unto me let us go to the house of The Lord!”

  7. The country that lost its fear for God.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

We live in America. Land of the free, and home of the brave. But, are we too brave for our own good? What happens when a country that once loved God and used His Word as a help to make its laws, now doesn’t? We are a blessed nation that needs to get back to our roots. Let’s start standing for what we believe. If the world can cry foul ,when we say anything about what we believe. Why then can’t we cry foul when the world speaks against the Bible? If we are persecuted for Jesus , He sees that. My prayer for this nation is that we get back to what we once treasured and loved, and that is the Word of God. Let US stand for what we believe. For in DUE SEASON we shall reap, if we faint not.

  8. DO YOU KNOW HIM

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Praise is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of the believer. Not only does it silence the adversary, still the enemy and confuse many adversaries; it also is a relationship builder, it grants the believer a deeper, clearer understanding of the Love, Mercy and Grace of GOD.

In Praise is GOD known. He reveals HIS Glory to those that Praise HIM for who HE IS (NOW).

Whatever the need, situation or dilemma as we Praise HIM he makes himself known to us!

Also he destroys the weapons of our enemy, the arrows (the fiery darts of the wicked) the bow (the launch pad for accusation), the shield (the deception) and the sword (the lies of the devil) and the battle (the confrontation).

There is POWER in the name of JESUS!

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  9. Psalm 76:1,2,3.
IN Judah God is known: (Where? Judah:PRAISE)…..
His name is great in Israel.
In Salem also is His tabernacle ,
And His dwelling place in Zion. There
He broke the arrows of the bow the shield and sword of battle.
    Selah
    V I C T O R Y!
I will meet you there O LORD!
Let’s send up Judah, in unity today, lets meet
there, this is an appointed time …..
    —–I SMELL VICTORY!!!!
    In Jesus name.

I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of The Lord !!!

  10. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

God is known to those who praise him.
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:23 KJV)
A lack of praise is iniquity. Praiseless = Godless.

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

“In POFW God is known: His name is great in The Pentecostals of Fort Worth.”

    I MISS YOU GUYS

  12. 6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

When I think of the rebuke of God, He will rebuke the enemy for our sakes and put him in a dead sleep, even the chariot and horse in the battle. He is our God and will fight our battles for us by whatever means it takes.
We must praise and worship him no matter the circumstances!!

  13. In this scripture, is a confirmation of the word preached today in regards to fearing the Lord. We definately don’t want to anger the Lord, remember Sodom & Gamorrah, they were wiped out and stood no more. Oh, only if we can be that bold light to warn them of the upcoming events. Witness the Gospel, and prepare to expand the Kindom of God. Serve him, and show this world that there is hope in Christ Jesus.

6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

    “Now”…………Tomorrow may be too late…………………………

  14. GODS ANGER
Anger makes us draw back from people. Gods anger is different it causes us to take God seriously and moves us to draw closer to him. Even when God is angry with us his anger never overwhelms his love. we can trust an angery God to welcome us with open arms

  15. This chapter illustrates might. One would be wise to reverence God, for one and all will one day witness his might. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Our lives should be a place of praise where God’s name is known, where He can dwell, and where the works of darkness are cast down and the enemy of our soul is defeated. We must choose if we will make God King of our lives or not:

    Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  17. Psalm 76:11-12
Do for God what you said you’d do–he is, afterall, Your God. Let everyone in town bring offerings to the One Who Watches our every move. Nobody gets by with anything, no one plays fast and loose with him.
    The Message

Let Israel acknowledge God’s help with grateful vows; let the nations acknowledge His sovereign rule with tribute. KJV

  18. Nobody can stand against God, the enemy will flea as you praise and worship his mighty name. Fear God NOW! He will protect you and yours no matter the siituation. Trust and believe in him.

  19. Do for God what you said you’d do— he is, after all, your God. Let everyone in town bring offerings to the One Who Watches our every move. Nobody gets by with anything, no one plays fast and loose with him. (Psalm 76:11, 12 MSG)

  20. 6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Once again we see the importance of not letting the victories become faded memories. We must not allow our past victories to become faded memories either. We must hold onto them, so that we continue to trust and lean one the only one who can bring us through our trials and storms, because there will be someone we are led to that will need to hear of our past victories so they might have a current victory…

  21. This chapter talks about the might and greatness of God. He is known through out the nations, kingdoms fear Him, at the rebuke of His voice adversaries are destroyed. He is worthy of our praise, and when we praise from a real honest heart He will show up. He inhabits the praises of His people. So let’s send up Judah and cause His presence, glory, to rain down on us and our situations. To God be the glory.

  22. Verse 4 AMP reads “Glorious and excellent are You from the mountains of prey [splendid and majestic, more than the everlasting mountains].”

Psalm 8:1 NLT “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.”

  23. 1 In Judah is God known : his name is great in Israel . 2 In Salem also is his tabernacle , and his dwelling place in Zion . 3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield , and the sword , and the battle . Selah 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey .

  24. At first I was puzzled when I read vs10 “Surely your wrath agaisnt me brings you praise. ” Until I got to thinking about another Scripture Rev 3: 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. So gathering what we know of the character of God, we can tell that pushing us around doesn’t bring Him glory, but disciplining us does. He intends for the judgment he passes to discipline us and straighten us up, and turn to Him, not away from Him. Sometimes discipline hurts the person administering it more than the one recieving it. What an Awesome God to take the burden of disciplining and turn it into something so beautiful. Our God recycles what the enemy would have meant for evil in us and converts and transforms us into something so much more like Him once we recognize our fault, repent, and this ultimately glorifies Him. Repent daily, I die daily, I glorify God daily!

  25. 11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

When we make a vow unto the Lord, it is important to pay it. Every vow should be kept and not let to go to waste.
