Psalm 77

1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

17 The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

18 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

  1. 10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

Notice what David does, in the middle of his lamentation he turns it around. He begins to encourage himself through meditation upon the work of God and speaking about the great works of God. To me this is an example of thinking himself happy.

  2. When we call out to God he will hear us. Even when we do not think things are going well and/or God is working for us and are hour seems dark, we should continue to praise him for the things he has done and also believe he will do them for us again. Praise in advance, NOW.

  3. 13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

There’s no God like our God!!

20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Thank God for a Shepherd! God is leading His people like a flock by the hand of Bro Watts.

  4. Tell your problem HOW BIG IS OUR GOD!!!!

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

Don’t let the enemy and his low down tricks make you forget who God is!!!! Our God is GOOD, He is bigger than any situation or problem. He is bigger than any circumstance. God is GOOD. Our Revival will continue to take place as long as we never stop telling about His DOINGS. Talk about the LORD and what HE has done for you. Meditate so you can remember your lion and your bear then tell EVERYONE of His Greatness, tell of HIS Mercy, Tell of His SALVATION, Tell them all young and old. Go tell them what GOD IS DOING, will DO, and continue DOING!!!! PRAISE BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!!!!!

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

Many people only seek the Lord when they are in trouble, but really we should seek The Lord in all situations.

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:11-13 KJV)

  5. 10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

When we will remember to lift Him up, He will draw ALL men to Him and we will see an outpouring like never before…

  6. I will remember the works of the Lord : surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. (Psalms 77:11-15 KJV)
… I Will REMEMBER!!! God has given me the VICTORY over all!!

  7. I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent song in the night. (I found that no matter how your day is going. No matter what you are doing , if you start to sing toLord everything begins to change. Let my heart sing unto the Lord everyday

  8. 10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

This is my crushing, my testing, my suffering,y cross, and my cup: I will remember the faithfulness, and the power of God in my life.

The Lord amazingly, and gently let’s us down into the fires to purify us, his hand feels the pain that we feel. He relates, sympathizes but does not remove us.

He knows the end from the beginning and works on us according to our destinies. A world changer must be tried, and tempered, sharpened, and practiced.

    How wonderful is our God!

    2 Timothy 2:12
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him:if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Suffer – g5278. υπομενω hypomeno; from 5259 and 3306; to stay under (behind), i. e. remain; figuratively, to undergo, i. e. bear (trials), have fortitude, persevere:— abide, endure, (take) patient (- ly), suffer, tarry behind.
AV (17)- endure 11, take patiently 2, tarry behind 1, abide 1, patient 1, suffer
to remain to tarry behind to remain i. e. abide, not recede or flee to preserve: under misfortunes and trials to hold fast to one’s faith in Christ to endure, bear bravely and calmly: ill treatments

    Matthew 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Endurance and suffer are the same Greek word. Don’t give up. 🙂

  9. 1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. 3 I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Seek The Lord with all that you are. Refuse to be content. God will comfort you, but if you refuse to be content And continuously seek him he will show himself mighty in your life. Big problems will fade away. God will be magnified. Situations will be turned around. People will come to Christ. You will find God.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (Proverbs 8:17 KJV)
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7 KJV)
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Luke 11:9 KJV)

  10. 6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

HALELUJAH!!! YOU ARE SO FAITHFUL GOD!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!
When I meditate and my spirit searches diligently, I surely remember alllll the times that i was disobedient but in YOUR GREAT MERCY YOU O LORD kept me. I Praise Thee O LORD!!! YOU ARE FAITHFUL!!!
THANK YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  11. 6 I call to remembrance my song in the night:
-my praise in the midnight hour. Singing songs of praise and seeking His face. A true praise.

I commune with mine own heart:
-Meditating on your thoughts, seeking and praying for the troubles on your heart. Giving it all to God and just praying for His Will.

and my spirit made diligent search.
    A diligent search.

Diligent: : characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort : painstaking

Not just searching but with an energetic effort. A painstaking state of mind!

Give us this type of burden for Fort Worth. Let us be in a painstaking state of mind where we can not rest but continually praying. Searching the lost and helping the needy.
    NOW in Jesus Name.

  12. 16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

  13. REALITY CHECK

Selah.
4 Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

This chapter is screaming to me today the word REALITY CHECK.

The first 4 verses identify the REALITY of the fact that regardless of who you are or how much you praise the LORD there are going to be nights (seasons) that it appears that GOD is nowhere to be found.

In verse 6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

The REALITY that the LORD has given us a song for a season for a reason.

Verses 7-9 present the REALITY of GOD will not always answer in our time frame and this season is to build (test) our FAITH in GOD to make IT stronger.

Verses 13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

Present the REALITY that GOD has not changed or weakened and my answer (HIS WAY) is found in the sanctuary (The Church).

Verse 20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

The REALITY that uses man to LEAD people through deserts and seas and to cross rivers into promised destinies. That I need a Man of GOD in my life to be accountable to for the seasons of GOD I cannot understand or even see the way.

    iPray

    NOW

  14. But then I recall all you have done, O L ord ; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. (Psalms 77:11, 12 NLT)

There come times in our lives that we must recall His mighty works.

But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation: It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:21-23 AMP)

  15. 11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

We have to brag on God and what he has done. The revival starts with people wanting to see this God that is so great so we have to tell them about him.

We also have to come to church. The morning services are too empty. Where is everyone? If you skip church you cannot be blessed….

    Look at this….

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

All things are good when you are in his
purpose but when you skip church who knows what will happen?

  16. 12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Part of our Christian duty is to spread this gospel to everyone. When the Lord blesses us we have an even more urgent mandate to spread the good news. Our blessings should not end with us; they should encourage us to share with others what God is doing and how they too can be a part of God’s blessings.

“Go, tell it on the mountain, Go, tell it on the mountain…
Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is Lord!!!”

  17. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

To me the quickest way to find entrance into the presence of the Lord is through song. Many times in my own distress, I have opened my heart with a song of praise to the Lord. His presence allowed me to search my spirit diligently and see if my circumstances were self inflicted, or a test that I must endure. Either way, coming into His presence through a song, gave me great comfort and assurance that I am never alone.

  18. This chapter illustrates victory. Although the prize may become hard to see at times, one must encourage oneself for there is victory in Jesus; “O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  19. 77:1-9NIV
    I cried out to God for help;
I Cried out to God to hear me.
    When I was distress, I sought The Lord ;
at night I stretched out untiring hands
And my soul refused to be comforted.
    I remembered you, O God, and I
    groaned.
I mused, and my spirit grew faint.
You kept my eyes from closing; I was too trouble to speak.
    I thought about the former days,the years of long ago;
I remembered my songs in the night .
My heart mused and my spirit
    Inquired:
    Will The Lord reject forever?
Will he never show his favor again?
(Thank God he did, and he has…)
Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
Has his promised failed for all time?
( NOW I KNOW, that his promisses are in the yes and amen!)
Has God forgotten to be merciful?
Has his anger withheld his compassion?
    ———-
Chapter. 77 reminds me when I was given a horrible thorn in the flesh, spirit soul and mind……(2008) and asked God to give me a miracle and he didn’t, later on I understood he wanted me to be delivered through a:
” healing process”……this psalm77 expresses exactly how I was feeling back then.
    ——–
Psalm77:11 I WILL REMEMBER THE DEEDS OF THE LORD;YES I WILL REMEMBER YOUR MIRACLES OF LONG AGO.
Ever since I got the revelation of this “attitude”,same thing I do!
Thin about God’s goodness, think about what he did for them,he has done for me….
THANK YOU GOD, for you have been the lifter of my head, and this day I choose and declare that you always will.
Love you O Lord, in Jesus name, AMEN.

  20. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:
Seek The Lord at all times.. The good and the bad!

10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
I always remember where God brought me from.. And the things He’s done through me…

  21. 1 I cried unto God with my voice , even unto God with my voice ; and he gave ear unto me . 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord : my sore ran in the night , and ceased not : my soul refused to be comforted .

  22. 20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Surely The Lord is the good Shepard that leads His flock into righteousness. And His sheep know His voice.

    • God is the main Shepard but uses men He has appointed to lead His flock. Just like Moses and Aaron led the children of Israel out of Egypt and through the desert we need a man of God in our lives to lead us. If the chosen children of God needed men of God to help guide them then how can we think we individually don’t need someone?

  23. Verses 11-15 MSG read “Once again I’ll go over what God has done, lay out on the table the ancient wonders; I’ll ponder all the things you’ve accomplished, and give a long, loving look at your acts. O God! Your way is holy! No god is great like God! You’re the God who makes things happen; you showed everyone what you can do—You pulled your people out of the worst kind of trouble, rescued the children of Jacob and Joseph.”

When your down and out, begin to recall ALL that the Lord has done for you. When we do this, it will remind us of how wonderful, awesome and greatly to be praised our God is. You may not feel him, you may not see what he’s actually doing for you; but, the Lord is placing things in order for your next victory in Jesus name! Stay encouraged, be faithful and obedient.

  24. wow, how this speaks to my soul. when a mother hears that her child is knocking at deaths door but cant see how bad it really is, there is only one thing to do and that is to cry out to God. God brought back to me the lessons tjat we have been teaching in sunday school, of all the people he healed. i knew in heart that his word is the same today as it was then. my God heard me and stayed in the mist. when no test showed the problem i realized that it was a appointment set by God. cry out in the mist of your trouble and see dont u be heard.

  25. 10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

We will go through trials in our life, nobody has it easy and life is’nt perfect. but when bad things happen that is not a pass to feed into the devils trap and worry or be down. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! in the good times and in the bad. When times are hard and we feel like it is impossible to even manage a smile just remember that God is still God and always will be. He has brought us out of trials before, He has kept us from the claws of the devil and he is not going to stop. You can weep through the night but joy ALWAYS comes in the morning. Everybody has bad days but it is up to us to decide if we are going to let the bad events that happen make our whole day. I used to think optimisim was impossible, its not. All we have to do is make up our mind that we’re gonna have a good day 🙂 the devil only has the power that you give him. NEVER FORGET where God has brought you from and the things he has done for you because maybe just that memory is enough to turn your day around. WHO IS SO GREAT A GOD AS OUR GOD??? THERE IS NONE!!!!!!!

  26. In this scripture, many things was expressed such as; his power, his voice, and his steps are unknown.
This brings to my mind, that his ways are not my ways and his thoughts are not my thoughts. Not to lean on my understanding, but God’s. His Word………

    “Now”……….

  27. I Hear Growing Pains

5 I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

Most of the time the position we started at looks more appealing than the ones we are in now. The closer we get to God in our relationship the more we leave of ourselves and former selves behind. God is contimually transforming us from what we are into who He wants us to be, this is in contrast to our ‘obeying’ and following Him. I want to see Him when I look in the mirror, so the more I must change. Change hurts. Lord I pray, that you allow me not to be like the man who looks at himself in the mirror and then immediately forgets what he looks like (Jam 1:22-25) . I want to see you in myself, I want to see you in others. Growing hurts and so does pruning- to cut or lop superfluous or undesired twigs, branches, or roots from; trim. Be encouraged, their is a mountain to this valley “6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Phil 1:6).

  28. Getting The Answer

Selah.

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

7 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

8 Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

When things go wrong, we can become almost obsessed with trying to get ahold of God. It can seem like we’re doing everything we know to do to get His attention, to get an answer if He were to provide one, yet He seems silent. There are seasons when we know God is there, yet we can’t seem to reach out and connect like before. It brings to mind something I heard a while back, how what is important is not so much us getting ahold of God but God getting ahold of us.

Past experiences teach me that times when I really wanted to get ahold of God were usually times when something had ahold of me other than Him. “God I need an answer… I need a healing… I need (fill in the blank)…”

God calls us to seek His face, yet it can be difficult to seek His face with the same passion as seeking His hand. In our humanity, pain/need spurs us with almost unparalleled motivation to find Him. Yet that very quality that can help us get to God in the first place can later be our greatest hinderance. What need do we have *right now*, that we are looking for an answer for *right now*, that is keeping us from experience the God of *right now*? We can say “I’m trusting God, I’m going to Him and surrendering my problem” while at the same time allowing that very “seeking God” to paralyze our walk with Him.

    How?

We let the answer become greater than the One who answers. We essentially make an idol out of hearing/receiving from God.

When God seems silent, it may very well be a tremendous blessing. If He answered, what would that teach us? It would only reinforce the negative mindset. Perhaps He’s not answering because He wants us to “be still”/selah concerning to problem long enough that He can get ahold of *us* like He wants and we can know He is God. We think of “selah” as a time of reflection, but we can also think of it as a time of “sabbath.” To “selah” concerning a problem might be just as simple as saying “God has the answer, I choose to just not worry, think about it, mess with it, act like it’s even there, etc.”

    V10 hints at this idea:

10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

I will remember the years of the right hand… The right hand is the hand of answer. “I will remember the times in the past of God’s answers… I’m not going to obsess about my current need, I’m going to forget it and selah on what the past taught me about God; I’m not going to seek His right hand because I already found it. I found it when He did this… and that… I don’t need the right hand, I need God.”

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

The Psalmist’s meditation on the right hand of God he already has shifted his focus from his needs to God’s identity: His face. Focusing on right now can blind us to the God who holds our NOW. Sometimes we just have to do a little *selah* to forget today and realize the answer is already NOW because He is our answer.

Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

We can lose track of both God and our answer when we look for the right hand of God separately form/instead of Him. Why? Because He’s already holding us in His arms. When we find Him, we find the right hand. Underneath are the arms, He’s already holding us, all that’s left is to look up to His face. Fretting and running and seeking sometimes only means trying to hop down out of the loving embrace of our heavenly Father, pushing even farther away the very thing we seek.

19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

V19 helps close out the Psalm with an important realization: the way God takes and has planned is sometimes hidden, as with the Red Sea experience. When we get focused on the path, we lose sight of God who leads us in the path; when we stay focused on God, we lose our obsession with the path and are lead by Him forward. If we had to choose between one of the two, our choice should always be to know God not the path.

20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

  29. 13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people

If we will go to the sanctuary, not with just our bodies, but bring our minds and our spirits to the house of God ,the Lord will meet with us and do great things in our lives and the lives of our loved ones!

When we are weak ,He is strong.Nothing is to hard for our God!!I always want to have God on my side, for the battle is just a small thing,if you are on the RIGHT side!!!!

  30. I feel like I can relate to this chapter so much. There are times when I have felt forgotten and been so frustrated. But like in verses 11 and 12 I remember how good God has been to me and how truely blessed I am and it changes my cries of sorrow to joyous praise and adoration. Thank you Jesus for all you have done for me!!

  31. 13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

God`s way is the only way, if we want to make it to heaven. Never let your troubles get in the way of what God wants you to do. We overcome by the word of our testimony. Our greatest victory comes when we overcome self.

  32. God hears our prayers, they may not come to pass the moment you make a request but I know God is the answer to our prayers. The Lord may test us to see if we can handle the blessings he has lined up for us, so keep the faith and continuall praise him with all of your heart and soul. Follow his commandments for he knows the intentions of the heart. He has our back. Lord strenghten me where it is needed and deliver me from all evil that stands in the way of doing your will.

  33. v19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

Many times GOD’s invisible hand is that work, we don’t see it but GOD IS AT WORK!
This is where faith and trust come in. Our faith in GOD is the only thing that will bring us the victory.
“For whatsoever is born of GOD overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”
    1 John 5:8

Our faith in GOD keeps us in the paths of righteousness even when all things go wrong and sustain us in times of troubles and affliction.

GOD ‘S WORD IS POWERFUL AND HE NEVER FAILS TO KEEP IT.

    iPray

  34. 12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. -Psalms 19:14

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Lead me through life both in the sanctuary and in my daily walk.

  35. 1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. John 9:31

There is a time that every one realizes that human strength and wisdom cannot handle a situation. The fact of the matter is that there is no situation that God cannot handle. A lot of the times we try everything and anything before we even acknowledge God. In a sinful state it’s hard to do so because of pride. Deception paints it logically and gives “it’s” solutions…but the only solution that never fails is to go to God directly in prayer. Prayer changes things. Prayer moves mountains, in prayer you ask the One who created everything and whom by all things subsist to step in and help. To come in in your behalf, to make Himself glorious in every situation of your life. I thank God that He hears prayers.

  36. 1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

God will always hear my voice of cry and I will hear his answer!

  37. 11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

If he’s done it in the past, he will do it again

  38. 13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

There is no God like unto our God!!!
